Today was turning out to be an eventful day for Alec. Just earlier he met a young man by the pier who had such a calm aura about him...it was that familiar gray color, but he seemed to be such gentle soul. The pleasant crashing of waves upon the shore rang quietly in his ears; overall, his day had been peaceful so far. This was what he needed. The doctors told him not to be moving around too much for a few days, but Alec was starting to feel much better. He still wore bandages around the puncture wound in his chest to make sure it wouldn't bleed. They taught him how to dress and disinfect the wound too so that he wouldn't have to return as often. He wasn't allowed to do anything stressful (which cut out most everything at night, for obvious reasons) so that it could heal. Alec was lucky, too - the wound was just inches away from his heart. From the pier, he left and headed back to the bus stop with no particular place in mind. When boarding, he flashed his bus pass to the driver and made his way to a front seat. In a matter of fifteen or so minutes, Alec saw an advertisement for the Los Angeles Botanical Gardens. Something about that place seemed...appropriate. All of the beautiful flora could really help him relax and unwind a bit. Judging by his wristwatch, he had another two or two and a half hours before sunset. That would be enough time to stop by and take a stroll, right? So long as he was on the bus by 30 minutes before sunset he would be just fine. In a matter of minutes the bus was pulling around to the stop closest to Botanical Gardens. Alec waved to the driver and made his way inside. Once he paid for admission and all, he began to head toward the right. Just ahead he could see all manner of beautiful flowers and trees, all in full bloom and looking stunning. He had never been one to just stop and admire nature, but a near-death experience always had this odd way of making someone appreciate the smaller things in life that much more. He stooped down and leaned in to smell what appeared to be a white rose, taking in its luscious fragrance. This was such a relaxing place to be...Hoping no one was looking, a small tear fell down the boy's cheek and landed on the rose's petal. "So pure..." After all, it wasn't like bartending at 4Play was something he'd do in the afternoon or even the morning, whenever he didn't have classes, and in the hours between where he needed to be, he was where he wanted to be. Botanical gardens had always been a fascination of his. It wasn't that he was obsessed with flowers, but he enjoyed them. More so, he liked to take pictures of them. Now, he was far too cheap to actually buy a proper camera, although he was hinting at friends that he could use one, a nice one, but for now his phone had a good enough camera for him to use. Of course, with a phone on his camera, he didn't have to worry about lugging around two separate devices, even if proper cameras had straps to go around his neck. It didn't matter. He still had to remind himself not to slam it against something on accident.
God, that'd be terrible if he did that, wouldn't it? It'd break. Oh, god, that beautiful camera.. that he did not have. But if he did have. He was losing the point, wasn't he? Yes, yes. Botanical gardens, pretty flowers, pictures. That was the point of this whole thing. He'd gotten off track on the camera part of it all. The one thing he hated about these sorts of gardens, of course, was that he had to pay for them. Cameras were expensive things, so it was logical that he didn't want to buy them, but tickets.. well, that was just because he was cheap; spending money made him nervous, like he would accidentally spend too much and suddenly not have any. Obviously, that was unlikely for someone like him, but not impossible, which made it frightening. But the pictures were worth splurging on an admissions ticket, so he convinced himself, halfway. As for any particular flowers he had an interest in photographing, well.. white roses had always been a favorite of his.
It wasn't even that they were roses. He found roses to be horribly boring and overdone. They didn't even smell particularly nice. Sure, they were fine, but there were better. White roses, however, were beautiful in photographs, particularly with the right setting. Like a kid crying on one. Maybe it was a bit heartless to take a picture first. Just that single tear on a pretty rose. Some emotional poet just orgasmed thinking about it. He pulled his phone back and tipped his head as he looked at the kid. Kid, right? He looked young, at least. For that matter, or perhaps for another entirely, who just cried one tear? Was that a normal thing? He'd never just cried one, when he did cry, himself. "Are you okay, or..?" He paused, then frowned. "A bee didn't get you right? I hate those damn things. I'll murder it for you, though. I mean, not murder, really. Avenge you, maybe. That works." He hadn't caught what the kid had uttered about purity.
If he had, he'd just be even more confused than he already was.. which, considering, wasn't too difficult. |

tagged: Will time: May 1, 4pm. notes: d'awww so cute At the sound of a voice, Alec quickly righted himself and made a gesture akin to wiping sweat from his brow (you know, to catch that tear). It came from a young man who seemed a bit...awkward maybe? Alec liked that word because he always referred to himself as awkward, or at least he thought so. This guy had fiery red hair, which was far brighter than Lucas's thick mane of orange. He also talked about murdering and avenging bees, making a reference to his tear. Most people would have laughed at him or simply thought he was a sissy, but this guy... the words sounded sarcastic, but he didn't detect any hint of malice behind them. I guess I should see what he wants.
"Oh, hey there. No I was just caught up in this flower...it's really pretty. So I'm fine, but thanks for your concern." Alec honestly wasn't sure where to take the conversation from there considering that this young man appeared to genuinely be concerned about him. It would be rude to not introduce himself; after all, he was kind enough to offer his assassination skills to any bee that might be within the area. "Hi, I'm Alec. You must be a pest exterminator, yes?" While the joke itself was awfully terrible, Alec's lighthearted tone mixed and tried to help it flow smoothly. In all reality, it probably wouldn't work. He even let a small chuckle escape from his lithe body, hoping not to come across as stuck up for laughing at his own joke. Terrible or not.
"Okay, so maybe that was a bad joke. Let's start over - hey I'm Alec. It's nice to meet you!"
There, much better.

Not that the kid jumped or yelped, of course, but he did quickly right himself and wipe his face, which, to Will, was a good thing. At least it meant that he hadn't been crying for some form of attention or confused sympathy, or empathy, of which Will had little of either. He was a slight little thing, wasn't he? Dark hair and cute eyes, but he held himself awkwardly. ..How old was this kid, anyway? He only looked like a kid. And for all he knew, he could have been. As he explained, Will simply stared at him rather dubiously. Caught up in this flower? Really? Who the hell cried at a flower? Certainly not Will. Maybe this kid was emotionally unstable. "If you're sure, but flowers are just flowers, you know. Unless you pricked yourself on a thorn, then they're demonic bastards that need to be decimated." He said this completely seriously.
Pest exterminator? He snorted and grinned. "No, I'm a pest assassin. There's a difference, see. I get more money for assassinating pests than I would exterminating them. Although the word exterminating is pretty cool, too." He added thoughtfully, pausing to do just that, think. Exterminator or assassin? "No, definitely an assassin. Like a ninja. Except, you know.. not Japanese, and.. pretty bad at ninjaing around." Oh, right, the kid had introduced himself, hadn't he? But he did so again, so that was fine. He grinned still. "William. William Havoc." He held out his hand for his, because he'd gotten used to shaking hands since he graduated High School, although not too much before then. He'd always seen it as quite odd and.. well, just weird, but, shaking hands was apparently what adults did. "Nice to meet you too." He glanced at the flower. "So, do you normally get emotional over flowers, or is today a special day?"
It was a slight tease, but an actual question. Had he always been one to cry on flowers, or had something caused it recently? He honestly hoped for the latter, because he didn't know how he would deal with the former. |

tagged: Will time: May 1, 4pm. notes: d'awww so cute Things were so awkward for the kid right now. He hadn't realized that he introduced himself twice. Thinking about that just sent waves of red through his cheeks, but maybe the other guy hadn't noticed. Blinking rapidly (as if that would actually solve his problems) he tried to clear his mind and direct this young man's attention somewhere else.
There was an endearing quality about the redhead...he was definitely not all there. He came across as somewhat sarcastic in his words, but at the same time there seemed to be a gentleness behind them. He was most definitely weird, something Alec could relate to quite well, and he had a nice sense of humor (though it was quite awkward - oh look, something else). He just acknowledged the comments and banter without really replying to them; what would one say about bug exterimation and assassination anyway? That wasn't a topic that just came up all the time.
And now Alec had a name for this man - William Havoc. It had a nice ring to it, unlike that Osker-something guy that he met earlier. It was also something he could say without butchering, which he silently thanked the heavens for. "The pleasure is mine."
The conversation turned a bit more awkward when he ask about his emotionality over the flower. He couldn't tell him all of the stuff that happened over the past few weeks nor did he want to. Instead of delving into the insanity of it all, he gave a very shortened version. "No - just been through a lot these past few weeks. More than I can really handle...and I'm on edge a lot, too. Guess it's just catching up with me." It was short, sweet, to the point, and it wouldn't be something that could really be pried into (unless that's the type of person Will was).

He did notice the redness in the boy's cheeks, but had enough tact, or perhaps just didn't care enough, to point it out. Maybe later. Nah, he'd let it go. Maybe. Right? Yeah, sure.
He liked this kid. He seemed cute. He liked his hair and he liked how he spoke, even if he was one of those types that got caught up in a flower. Honestly, he still didn't understand that. A flower was a flower. Although he could understand its beauty and its artistic properties, he wasn't the type to get too emotionally involved, particularly to the point of crying, even a small amount. Alec was a nice little thing, and he liked it. He'd just need to get him to stop crying on flowers, and they'd be set, right? Course~
He hummed a bit to his explanation. "You should see a shrink," he paused, "or punch something repeatedly. I hear it helps. You know, like boxing or something. You should go boxing. Or to a precarious-looking bar and get into a fight by insulting some biker's tattoos, but then you might get shanked and die a terrible death." He spoke very plainly, small smile on his lips. Did it bother him, that he went through a lot? No. Did he feel pity for him? .. No. He was curious, though. |

This other guy was totally weird.
The conversation went from him having an emotional moment over a flower to a bee sting, and then to seeing a psychiatrist. And then to a bar scene. How in the world did they start off with emotional flower crying moments and end up at a bar? Alec's head began to hurt, just a bit, because he couldn't keep up with what was going on. Insted, he tried to respond quickly and change the topic so he wouldn't have to keep trying to figure things out.
"Oh, ummmm maybe... It's not anger problems or anything. I've just had a really rough, well, you know. Too much of a bother to discuss, too." He smiled at the man and wiped his eye one last time, just to make sure that he had gotten all of it out. "Here, come sit by me. Let's just talk for a bit. I could definitely use someone to talk to, and you seem like the talkative type. Right?" His smile quickly turned to a mischievous grin, his nose now crinkled and his eyes showing a sign of relief. He was already feeling better! Somehow, somewhere, someone knew that he needed to be talking to this guy. There was something totally off about him, but at the same time he thoroughly enjoyed the company. It kept him from being caught up on his thoughts.
"So, what brings you here to the botanical gardens today? Anything special? You are by yourself so I assume you came here alone."
