For the past few weeks, Yana had had nothing but rotten luck. Her escapades at the museum had been nothing but a complete disaster. She had seen dinosaurs come to life and kill people, and she'd also ridden velociraptors and had friends hurt. Aside from the obvious danger, the exploding fire extinguishers, and nearly getting killed, that day lingered in her memory. She had run into a man there, one who looked so familiar to her, and he had defended her bravely. Normally this would make girls' hearts flutter. Oh a prince charming, rescuing me from awful velociraptors! Marry me Prince Charming! There was only one slight problem with this fantasy - that man was her brother. Shocking, wasn't it? Yana had been adopted at a young age, but not so young that she didn't remember her family. Her birth parents were fuzzy, blurred memories, but her brother was something that she had desperately hung onto through out her childhood. Of course, her adoptive parents were more than she could ever hope for - she had wanted for nothing, had gone to the best girls' school in California, but the need to know had been with her since childhood. Yana sighed as she walked around the mall, weaving in and out of stores out of boredom. For weeks she had looked for that man, trying to figure out who he was. The more she looked, and the more he elluded her, the more she was certain that he was in fact her brother. Nana! He had called out her childhood name in the museum. No one knew that name, not even her American parents. It had to be him! Yana heaved another sigh and adjusted her shopping bag as she walked into Abercrombie and Fitch. She didn't particularly need anything, but it was nice to see sale signs in the windows. It wasn't too crowded for a Tuesday afternoon as she browsed through some of their shirts. It was, however, making her a bit dizzy with the absolute cloud of cologne spritzed through the ai. At least it's not Hollister. You needed a flashlight and gas mask in that store. The blond girl walked around the store for a minute as a few employees came out of the back room with clothes to rerack. She glanced up and then paused behind a mannequin as a blond man walked out of the back with a name tag on. It was him! The man from the museum! Yana ducked further down behind the mannequin, her heart pounding. She was face to face with this man now, and her boldness was leaving her. What if it wasn't him? Doubts plagued her as a pair of giggling girls skirted around her. There was only one way to find out if it was really him.... Yana stood up and came out from behind the mannequin and headed towards his back, stopping behind him. His name, the name she remembered from childhood, would be her answer. "Vanya??" IT'S OUT TO GET ME AND IT'S ALL IN MY HEAD. DAYS HAVE BEEN BLURRING TOGETHER. Honestly, his paranoia had only skyrocketed after all those weird events, and it had become a hassle trying to keep focused part of the time. The blonde male barely knew what day it was, only when he stepped inside of the Abercrombie & Fitch store for work did he remember that today was Tuesday. For a while, he wondered where his days had gone and what had happened in his life during those days he couldn't remember at that moment. Of course, he couldn't be thinking about all this now. He shouldn't be thinking about all that nonsense now for the sake of his sanity and nerves. He had nearly broken one of his coworkers' noses because he had been so deep in thought that he hadn't heard them behind him. Punching in for work before he was late, Viktor took a deep breath to calm himself before he searched for his name tag and put it on his shirt. For once, the manager had allowed him to work at the cash register instead of walking around half-naked for the sake of attracting customers; he had told the manager that he had gotten a nasty injury that would chase customers away if he took off his shirt. Hm, he had forgotten what it was like to actually wear a shirt to his civilian job. He wasn't paying much attention to what was going on around him; his only focus was on getting over to the cash register so he could begin to work. However, a very familiar nickname and voice managed to snap him out of it, turning right around by instinct. It was so very strange to him that even after so many years, he was still so in tune with his natural instinct to rush to Yana's side whenever she called for him. Which explained as to why he turned around in the first place. He was even going to respond with his typical "What is it, Nana?" before he managed to catch himself, not saying a single word and instead just gave her a careful yet curious look. "Huh? Oh, I'm sorry, miss. I'm not Vanya. You might have me mistaken for someone else," he stated smoothly, trying so very hard not to let the guilt wash over his face. He didn't want to lie to his baby sister, but he couldn't let her back into his life right now. Not after all this crazy nonsense. But then again, she had experienced craziness in that museum, did she not? No, he couldn't think about that now. If he could at least keep her in the dark about his spy job, then he could keep her safe from the more mortal threats. "If you could please excuse me."That being said, he moved quickly to the register as he tried to avoid looking in Yana's direction. He couldn't look at her; she was the spitting image of their mother and he'd crack if she pushed him any further. And it's not like he could force her out of the store, so he would just have to ignore her for right now and carry on being Viktor Krupin, not Ivan Nikolai Valeev. But still, there was the part of him that wanted to just hug his sister out of joy to see her alive and well. But he had to resist that urge even if it hurt him to do so. TAGGED ╌ yana j. He turned around. The moment she said Vanya, he turned around. That had to mean something, right?? Hope lit up her face.
And then was immediately dashed. 'I'm sorry miss. I'm not Vanya.' He was the man from the museum. She knew he was! He had to be. Yana watched him go as words formed and failed to leave her mouth. What could she do? What could she possibly say? Had she mistaken him?
'No. I know I'm not wrong this time.'
The store was rather empty at that moment, so she grabbed a random shirt and headed after him to the check out line. "I know I'm not wrong about this Vanya." The Russian was very precise as she put her purchase on the counter. "You were at the museum with me, you called out a name that no one else would know!" She was insistent, but she still had some wit about her to keep her voice down. "You have to be him. You just... you have to be!" She looked at him with big brown eyes, hope flush in her face. "Please Vanya... please say you know me."
