"You look fine, Keiko. Would I ever lie to you?" Okay, so maybe Kyoko had told a few little white lies. Okay, maybe Keiko did have reason not to believe her, but she looked perfectly fine, more than fine even. "At least passable for the general public. Now that you mention it, I need to shower too." She was probably filthy right now, looking at the events that occurred. Jeez, how in the world had she been able to fall asleep in the first place? No - how could they stand to sleep in her general vicinity at all?
Filth and discomfort aside, Kyoko did perk up at the mention of coffee. Just thinking about it made her feel more awake from this half-sleep half-awake limbo. Coffee, pancakes, and... was it early enough in the morning to see if there were donuts she could poach along with that coffee? "Well, you know, I might fall asleep if I don't get some coffee soon." The question was if she wanted coffee now or with pancakes. And if there were any donuts that just happened to be lying about.

"Of course not," Keiko smiled lightly. It was all flattery, she was sure. Yes, Kyoko has told small lies. And yes, Kei knew that but still told her own small lie that was expected of polite discourse. "I'll probably go home and shower." She took another glance at sleepy Morris and switched into Japanese. "We need to discuss what we should do about him." They needed to figure out where he would stay and how they were going to take care of him for the time being while the case was still being investigated. And then another smile at Morris as she gently coaxed him out of bed. "Ready to go?"
Kei decided to forgo the coffee at the station, opting to get food and much needed caffeine at the restaurant instead. The food was decent, the waitstaff was what you'd expect from overworked, underpaid people. At least it was cheap. She ordered coffee and a deluxe breakfast for herself and allowed Kyoko and Morris to get whatever they wanted. It wasn't the healthiest thing they could be eating but god knows they deserved it.
"So Morris, are you too tired to go shopping later?" Kei asked, hoping that Kyoko would get the hint and continue along with this.

Unlike Keiko, Kyoko opted for coffee at the station. Moreso that she could wake up than any other reason. There were, unfortunately, no donuts within grabbing distance. Coffee, for her, served its function and nothing more. So even if the coffee was a bit too bitter for her taste (as all coffee tended to leave that aftertaste), or a bit on the really disgusting side, it gave her the adrenaline she needed to get through the day. And dear god, she knew she would need it. Even if she did take the day off (they were taking the day off, right?), Kyoko knew she had to figure out something with Morris, though to be honest Keiko would probably figure it out faster than she could. She responded back in Japanese. "I said we should keep him last night... I think. But you're right, we do need to talk about him later on." There was also this thing about possible living relatives and taking custody and other law stuff that Kyoko frankly did not think about. Not to mention if Morris actually did want to be with them.
He was really cute and Kyoko really wanted to keep him, but he wasn't a pet (she wasn't good with pet anyways), and that was not the proper way to keep a child. Even so, she lived in an apartment with no intention of moving out anytime soon. It was comfortable living, but for only one person. And currently that one person was herself, and no one else. But they did get to eat pancakes, deviating from that topic. At least, Kyoko ordered pancakes (more than enough), and shared with Morris.
"Shopping?" Shopping, hmm... Was Keiko trying to say something? Nope, Kyoko would leave Morris to answer that question, digging into her nice, chocolatey pancakes. Of which he said no to.

While she chewed on her breakfast, Kei made herself a mental list of things that needed to be done after they had finished breakfast: go shopping for Morris, contact Leila in Child Protective Services about Morris, paperwork, a shower would be nice, etc. She was glad that she had convinced the captain to give them the next twenty-four hours off. She did have to bargain with him and promise to get the paperwork done when the returned to work but Kyoko didn't need to know that.
Keiko should have known that her subtle meaning would completely fly over her head. No, matter they were going shopping later. There were several things that they needed if they were going to be taking care of Morris, even if it were only temporary.
"Yes, shopping - as long as you don't eat a month's paycheck worth of pancakes we need to go pick up some things. Morris needs some clothes and preferably a car seat. And I figured that we should discuss who Morris will be staying with sooner or later."
While Kei did say that, as soon as the words left her mouth she realized that she would probably be the one to take in the little boy who was currently shoveling french toast into his mouth. She trusted Kyoko with her life, to be responsible with kids, however, was debatable.

Okay so Kyoko was a bit oblivious to things - even more so when she was distracted by things. And the distraction of the day goes to pancakes and Morris. She should have been thinking, in all honest, about the situation at hand and how to handle a small child. She'd never handle a small child before, and in all honestly her way of handling it was having fun and probably no discipline at all. Which was not really parent material, to be honest. But she had taken rather a liking to Morris. She felt more than protective over him. But then again, atrocious things had happened to him.
"Okay, I won't eat too much, promise." She was hitting her limit on how much she could eat anyways. Much as she did want to take advantage of the situation, she had a feeling she wasn't going to much more. "Besides, I don't think my stomach could handle a month's paycheck in one sitting. Or even two or three."
Well, Kei had a point. They needed to talk about him. "Well, I don't think there's much room in my apartment, to be honest." If they tried, she could probably squeeze him in... After she cleaned her rather messy place and rearranged it. Plus, wasn't she just thinking moments before she really did not know how to take care of a child? Well, once she got home she knew exactly what she was researching.

"Well I don't know about that." Kei grinned lightly as Kyoko slowed her intake of pancakes. "Your stomach is comparable to a bottomless pit, y'know. Just give it a few hours and I'll bet you that you'll be hungry again." If it was anyone else Kei might have teased them about getting fat with the amount they were eating but, Kyoko, being Kyoko, probably needed all the calories she could get. Her energy levels meant that she needed a constant source of nutrition. Kei had to envy Kyoko for that sometimes. It must be nice being able to stay so skinny no matter how much she ate.
"That's true..." Kei trailed off. It seemed that Morris would be staying with her for the time being. But was she ready for that kind of responsibility? Taking care of a child like adult like Kyoko was one thing, taking care of an actual child was another. This person was completely dependent on her for their well being and suddenly the task seemed rather daunting. Kei was still working full time and there was the matter of school which would eventually lead to college. She never thought this far ahead before. She was going to have to think very, very hard tonight about what her plans for the future were going to look like.

"That's not true! As we speak, I'm already getting full." Keiko was probably right, though. In a few hours, Kyoko would be complaining about hunger again. Even when she downed the pancakes in front of her, too. "I don't eat too much, do I?" It couldn't be healthy for her to be eating so much but, then again, she needed to curb that hunger somehow. This was why she often bought the cheapest foods at the grocery stores.
Honestly she did not eat healthy at all, but if she did that would mean paying a lot more than she could afford on her salary.
"I'll help whenever I can, though!" It would be hard for just Kei to take care of Morris, and she felt just as attached to him as she did (probably). "It's probably a lot of work to take care of a child, but I think we'll be able to handle it fine, the two of us." Though Koyko had the impending feeling that it would most likely be a lot harder than taking out giant huge rats. Maybe.

"I got it, I got it," Kei chuckled. If anything, Kei didn't eat the healthiest either. She would like to but eating healthy was really expensive when you could stop for fast food for a fraction of the price and time. "Of course not. I'm joking. If anything you need as much food as you can get otherwise you'll keel over from lack of energy. Need more pancakes?" Kei waved over a waitress. She was about full and it looked like Kyoko and Morris were as well. If so, it was about time to pay the check and get going.
"I know you will. And child rearing is difficult," Kei agreed. She eyed Kyoko for a moment. "When you have kids you have to make sure that they're constantly happy and healthy, and we have to ensure that they grow up to be good members of society." Pause for dramatic effect. "I'm sure we'll be fine." Kei looked at Morris. Supposedly kids grow up fast. Well she would be finding out soon enough.

"No,no more pancakes, I don't think. Morris, what about you?" The kid shook his head. So what if Kyo ate three times as many pancakes as the kid (after all, he was a kid). "Thanks again for treating us, I'll make it up to you next time." Although Kyoko knew that next time Keiko would be doing her a favor... again. It was how the relationship worked, much as the younger woman tried to redeem herself. In which she rarely ever did. She kind of felt bad for it, was she being troublesome for Kei-senpai? How many years had it been for the older woman looking out for her now? Too long, it seemed, that it seemed as though Kyoko was under some eternal debt.
...I think one kid is enough for me..." Kyoko mumbled under her breath. One kid might be much more than enough for her, to be fair. Responsibility was hardly ever Kyo's strong suit. It was only when she proclaimed for justice (technically raising Morris would be for justice too). But for this, she was determined. It would be a learning experience... although she was pretty sure this learning experience wouldn't be put to any other use than for Morris himself. "Yeah, I'm sure we will be." There went Kei, reassuring her once more, as she always did.
"Ah, let's go, if we're all done here now."
