Living Situation His grandfather is the current Earl Grey, and as expected, he has lived a life of luxury almost completely different than most people. Growing up in mansions and having never attended school as a child, educated by tutors instead, there are certain things which he has not experienced that more "normal" people would have. As such, Lawrence is most definitely upper class, coming from the ennobled of Great Britain; the very first Earl Grey was General Charles Grey, Lawrence's great-grandfather by six times. Second in line to inherit the title of Earl Grey after his father, he is currently on holiday in Los Angeles and living at the Ritz-Carlton of LA, and will be there for a month. As for an occupation, well, he's unemployed and his only real occupation is being the second heir to the earlship; officially, he is an aristocrat. 02. Appearance With blonde hair and eyes of a perfect blue sky, Lawrence possesses a very classic sort of beauty. He stands at 5'11" and his hair is a rich golden blond and its tresses are thick and cut into a medium-length style with sideswept bangs. His skin is fair but slightly sunkissed, and rather unblemished besides the occasional breakout of pimples. Over 100 years of good breeding shows in his high cheekbones and nicely shaped jaw--however, his slim build and so called "classic" beauty isn't for everyone. 03. Personality Lawrence is the type of guy whom you would call formal. He's no stick in the mud, but he's not completely laid back; in his own way he is a man of paradoxes; formal but modern, he struggles slightly with the upkeep of tradition and the more modern expectations of him. Though he tries to be kind and sweet to everyone he meets, Lawrence does have a bit of a superiority complex that rears its head every once in a while. He also sometimes tends to hold himself very highly and loves the finer things in life. Lawrence is also a very, very good talker and charmer. On the reverse side, he has a streak of no-nonsense about him one might not expect; while being a good time guy, he also is set in his ways and firm in his beliefs, and once he has decided on something, serious or not, it is exactly what he will (at least try to) do. Amongst his other traits, Lawrence does have a very fragile emotional state, and in truth something can shatter his confidence with the right inflection or timing, mich more so than most, although he has taken to usually bottling up such intense emotions until he is in private. If the emotion is too extreme, he will appear stoic to others in public unless he needs to put on a mask of some other emotion. He's led a rather sheltered life, and as such, is slightly detached from the world of non-nobles. Although not uncaring of the other ways of life, he doesn't exactly seek to become more enlightened on how "normal" people go about their daily lives, despite being genuinely curious at certain times. One of his more traditional traits is that he prefers to remain private and rather reserved, but, with another show of his paradoxical ways at the same time, while he wants to be private he often finds himself in the middle of very social situations, and often only seeks to put himself a bit more into the spotlight. 04. History It was a rather calm day in November that had a chilly wind running through it that a healthy baby boy entered the world, born to Alexander Edward Grey and Urusla C. Boult; his father was the heir apparent to the Earlship of Grey, the title of Earl Grey being held by his grandfather Phillip Kent Grey. His own father being called Viscount Howick, the child was christened Lawrence Alexander Edward Grey, and when Lawrence was four a younger sister named Alice Ursula was born. Lawrence's life growing up was quite normal; at least, as normal of course, as someone of his family and by extension, his, lifestyle, could grow up. Unlike other children, he was educated by tutors at home and not in schools; his parents were attentive enough but even so he found himself longing for more of a somewhat normal childhood. It wasn't to say he was locked up in a mansion for most of his life, but he did have a period of wanting to go to an actual school, and so, at the age of eleven Lawrence was sat down by his father and told of the family's history, going back to the first Earl Grey, Charles, whom the title was created for in 1806, and Charles' son, Prime Minister Charles Grey, who served as the 2nd Earl. It was at that point onwards that Lawrence slowly understood that his family was different from the families of others, and more accepted his situation. By the time that he hit sixteen, he had become much more adapted to his luxe lifestyle, and could often be found attending any events or social gatherings which his parents needed to go to, or wanted him to attend. He was by all means a rather golden child, but something happened that made him begin to question his position; he fell head over heels in love with someone. This someone was a boy named Conner, who worked for the Greys as a hall boy. Despite the modern pace of the world, Lawrence's was a traditional family, and though some of the traditional duties of the hall boy were no longer needed, they kept one and he generally served as the assistant of the resident maids and the Housekeeper. Conner was the same age as Lawrence, and in a way grew up alongside him; Conner's father, Henry, had been the hall boy many many years ago before he ascended to the role of butler, which he had filled for all of both Conner and Lawrence's life. If asked even now he couldn't properly explain where this sudden love bloomed, but nevertheless, bloom it did. Fancying themselves some sort of modern-day Romeo and Juliet, Lawrence and he carried out their affair in secret until they were eighteen, when tragedy truly did befall the "star-crossed lovers"...or, well, it did in a way. Conner got a different job in another location, and Lawrence was to begin his higher education at university. As such, the pair parted ways, and, now approaching his third year of university at St. John's College in Cambridge, Lawrence has decided to take a holiday to the States---he arrived on the first of May, and is in the Ritz-Carlton for a month; but, perhaps fate will keep the nobleman here for longer than expected... |
