He hadn't had a job since mid-March, and Rayna wasn't much better off, so needless to say, the both of them were a bit eager for action. Not to mention he knew he certainly needed a distraction – too much had been happening recently, and he could feel it weighing on his mind – a good high-class schmoozing and shooting would make him feel a bit better. To him, his job was better than having a stress ball – honestly what better way to let off steam than to kill someone? He wasn't sadistic, per se – it wasn't that he enjoyed it, but there was a certain artistry to it for him, and it was no more wrong to him than turning in your report to the boss – it was him doing what he was paid to, simple as that. It was admittedly more satisfying when he was stressed, however – he could project all his problems onto his target for that brief moment.
Unfortunately, he had express orders that this was for pure recon – and unless the situation genuinely called for extreme measures, he was not to kill the target until certain information had been acquired. He'd been told they were encouraged to take their time, and that they were not expected to finish the job tonight alone – he wanted to say screw the information, but the deal with this job was either get the info and kill him and get paid...or just kill him and get nothing. Well, not nothing – a lecture from their boss, morelike. Always fun. However, Lukas tried to not let the lack of shooting someone to get to him – they were getting out and getting to crash a party, after all.
The preparation of going took an hour or so alone, half of it spent fighting over the bathroom (a good portion of Lukas' time spent glaring at his hair where the blonde was starting to peek through at the base of his scalp, lamenting that he wished he could re-dye it before they left), but by the end of it the redhead had had on one of his nicer suits, his hair was actually laying tamed on his head, and he'd begrudgingly taken out his piercings. He'd stashed his weapons underneath his jacket and up his sleeve, grabbed their fake IDs (as well as a set of false government agent badges in case their weapons were discovered and they'd be able to cover their asses), and headed out the door to the waiting limo.
There was small comments on plans and establishing their identities amongst themselves on the twenty minutes ride there, Lukas again asking if Rayna was sure if she was well enough to come (to which he was met with an insistence of if she was stick in that apartment one more day she was going to kill one of the workers...which he believed) amidst this – though otherwise little else exciting happened. Lukas made no mention of the gift that had finally arrived for her that he had stashed under his outer jacket...which, hilariously, was held in what looked like a jewelry box that was meant to hold an expensive necklace. Oh no, he wanted to wait until they got there so he could do it in public – that was half the fun of jobs, the two of them got to ham up the theatrics.
As soon as the limo pulled up to the well-lit, incredibly fancy hotel, Lukas hopped out of his side and slipped instantly into the role of a perfect gentleman, holding the door open for Rayna to get out, his smirk amused as he watched her slide out of the car. “Did I mention you look fantastic?” he said, eyebrows raised as he said it and his expression said he was playing his role up a bit, but hey it wasn't like he was completely bullshitting her – she did look good. Professional wall or not, he couldn't deny his partner was an attractive woman – but he knew where he needed to draw the line seeing as relationships between their employees didn't thrill their bosses, benign or otherwise – even if Rayna just acted as a benefriend, they would lecture him, he knew it. So, he put up a wall between him and Rayna the day they began working for one another...even admitting the two were friends tended to make him wonder if he would get in trouble, or if she'd be considered a liability.
“So, I got you something.” he said, tone charming and suave as could be as he eyed her. He kept the door to the limo open so the driver wouldn't take off, and stood himself so that his body blocked the view of the overdressed, tittering bystanders that were filtering in and out of the establishment, pulling the jewelry box out from where it hid in his clothes and opening it so only she could see the switchblade settled in the box. To anyone who did see them, they would see a boyfriend giving his girl expensive jewelry...oh, if only they knew. It was her replacement for the one that had been bent during the incident at the law office...it had taken him ages due to all the crap that had been happening, not to mention Vasha had had some issues getting it shipped, somehow. She better damn well appreciate it – it had taken some work.

Words: 000 Notes: oh dear Rayna.. Rayna had pretty much jumped at the chance to get back to work, not this wasn't something she did often, but a job was a job. For whatever reason Rayna had been offered to take this job with Lukas, something she expected for the higher ups to hand to Natasha. Maybe the other woman was busy, Rayna couldn't complain she needed to get out and do something. It had been nearly three weeks since she was injured and already she we feeling better. Her home made stitches were already out and she was one the way to a full recovery. Her ribs were pretty close to healed, but Rayna was still feeling sore if she placed too much pressure on them. This morning had went well, Rayna made sure the shop would be taken care of while they were gone, making sure that the people working were those that knew the basics of the mob.
After that there was a battle over the shower, but in the end both Lukas and Rayna got ready for their job. Lukas has most of the details, mainly her job was to play date and maybe even distraction. She sported a beautiful black cocktail dress that she had picked up a while ago and just never found reason to wear it. For all the biker wear she had, Rayna did like to dress like a woman with style. It was just that riding a bike was hard in a dress, doable, but hard. She slipped on some matching studded heels and let her hair down in half waves, half curls. After grabbing her small purse they went out to the waiting limo and Rayna got to travel in style. With the dress and pretty earrings its was interesting to know that this woman was packing heat. Unseen by the eyes, under her dress she had a small handgun holstered against her left leg, the dress hid it well.
They talked along the way, getting a simple plan together and going over the names and professions they had for the night. Once they arrived at their destination Lukas switched to his fake persona and Rayna was pleased with it. They may be pretending to be a couple, but Rayna found the play to be more entertaining the the job itself. She stepped out of the car and smiled as he complimented her. "Not yet but keep it up and you might make me fall for you." She played into her roll easily enough, her smile never leaving her lips as she played the happy blonde the was with the man of her dreams. After all, who wouldn't was a good looking, rich, gentleman to go to out with?
"For me?" She gave him a puzzled look and placed one hand on his hand that held the box. She needed to keep up with the physical touching while they were there, the happier a couple was the more they couldn't keep from holding each other. Inside the box was a very nice, and pricey, switchblade. Rayna smiled and clapped her hands together is her surprise. "Oh love you shouldn't have!" She moved into his space and grabbed his free hand, she guided it to the blade and coached his hand to grab the blade with her. She then pulled that hand towards her chest as she closed what space she could and pulled him into a kiss. The switchblade sleeping in between her breast with skill. She then looped her arms over his shoulders and broke the kiss. "You are the best." She smirked at him as she pulled away and waited for him to offer his are, "We can't keep all the lovely people waiting."

He normally wasn't a 'gift' person unless he genuinely felt he owed them something – that had been the case with Ana, due to the fact he'd never intended for her to be dragged into the flipside of the party he'd went to, and as for Rayna...well, he'd never admit it but he'd felt guilty about leaving her to deal with that...whatever the fuck that thing was, which had landed her in the hospital. Admittedly, he would have done the same thing again – lest the risk a mole getting loose – but that didn't make him any less guilty. He supposed that was a consequence for having a partner he'd worked with for a few years – when you have someone's back for that long you feel like its your fault when they get injured. He would never admit that either – god forbid anyone he worked with actually thought he considered them a friend.
The assassin had to resist rolling his eyes as she made an even bigger show than he had in putting the knife in her cleavage, right where the old one had been. Part of him admitted it was a good spot to hide a weapon because who was going to stuff their hand down a woman' shirt to find a weapon? The other part of him couldn't get beyond the fact that it was like something out of a terribly spy movie – the femme fatal with a gun in her boobs. Knife. Whatever. To each their own – he was just thankful he had sleeves to hide his own knife close at hand but no so close it could be in danger of getting him. Admittedly women didn't have that luxary.
Regardless, he went through the motions of playing the good boyfriend – as he was meant to – returning her kiss and when she pulled away gave her a smirk that was more automatic than anything, before taking her arm and leading her in, making a good show of appearing as if he was caught up in appeasing and eyeballing his 'date', though with each person they passed in the long, elegant hallway to the banquet hall and ballroom, he was subtly scanning them, gaze moving subtly as he picked out mentally who looked like they were the more important (hence, more informed) guests.
When they inevitably ran into the door man who checked all the invites and IDs and blah blah (he was ridiculously happy to note there was no metal detector in the doorway that led to the banquet hall – he hated having to recover his weapons later), all of which went as smoothly as usual – every single one of what he showed the man was faked, and his ego was thoroughly stroked when it wasn't even questioned, just glanced over before he was pointed in the direction where the man party was. Naturally when they ran into the host Lukas would have to ply the charm as well as his storytelling abilities, but he planned to avoid said man – that wasn't who they were after anyway, no, just one of his his business partners who, supposedly, was meant to be making a deal with him tonight.
Between Rayna and Lukas, one of them was meant to eavesdrop on whatever conversation they had. This was all some bullcrap about the business partner that was now left out of the loop, or something, and was all up and jealous, so he wanted hi 'replacement' dealt with and the information to rip his company apart. You know. Usual corporate bullshit. He released his partner's arm only to slip one arm around her waist and lean close, smirk and expression telling the outside he was whispering sweet nothing to her ear when reality was quite a different matter. “If you see the host, either distract him or avoid him – the less he decides to look into this the better. I'd rather not have to make an emergency call to Ven to make up the credentials in the system to cover our asses if I don't have to. I got pushed and told to do this on limited resources, if I could. I'll be nice and let you knock out the guards later if we have to, but otherwise we're not meant to do anything to provoke tonight.”

Words: 000 Notes: hehe, oh Rayna.. She had to admit to herself that she really did enjoy messing with Lukas, even more so when in public. After all, only in public was Lukas forced to put on the charm and play her little games. The kiss? It was nothing new, but she was still pleased that he went with the flow. Playing a couple was the closest Rayna could ever truly get to having anything with Lukas. He was just too guarded, sleeping with him was near impossible unless the man was under stress or intoxicated. The knowledge that Rayna had to play tricks to get Lukas into bed was infuriating for her. After all she was a good looking women, smart, great at what she did, and yet he never looked at her the way she wanted him too. Rayna dismissed the though, who cared? They were friends, they worked well together and she owned his loyalty, which was better then his heart.
With the "show" over Lukas offered her his arm, which she took smiling like she had the best man in the world. She paid no mind to anyone around her, show all her attention to the man guiding her. At least that was how it looked, she might not be the information gathering type, but Rayna was still very into noticing all the detail around her. As a sniper she needed to makes notes on the wind, where the sun was, shadows, clouds, people, glass, anything that could in some way get in the way of that one perfect shot. Rayna always did pride herself in never needing that second shot, and she thanked it to her skills of attentiveness. The worked pass the door man with easy, who seemed to linger a look over Rayna, not that she cared. Let the man look, it only convinced Rayna that this dress had been the right pick after all.
Rayna moved with Lukas, scouting around with her eyes as she smiled and played up her status of arm-candy blonde. She was caught off guard from Lukas, who got close and held her around her waist, her shock was hidden well by a soft 'oh' She allowed his to lean in close and speak into her ear, she smiled and brought her lips close to his ear. "I will follow your lead, I will play any role you give me tonight, and have you fall in love with my skills." She smirked, oh boy, she was having more fun then she should be allowed. She laughed, glided her lips over his and pulled away from him. "Let me get you a drink?" Sure they could wait for a waiter to walk by, but if she activity went searching for one it gave her the chance to get a better idea of what they were dealing with. Guard placement, where all the important people were, the target, and the host.
She had only been given names, after all Lukas was the one in charge of this job, she was just playing back up. So Rayna had to take it upon herself to get a few extra details without getting in her partner's way. She took her time, leaving Lukas to his own devices as she moves across the room, listening to the chatter around her. Picking up names, keeping count of who was already grabbing their second glass of wine. Every little detail was both useless and important. After a few minutes she made a mental note of every openly posted guard, every hidden camera and for an added bonus, every man that looked at her for more then ten seconds, making a note for the married ones. She found it interesting how they could openly stare while they still wore the wedding ring on their finger. She picked up two wine glasses from a passing waiter and made her way back over to Lukas. She held one glass out to him and brought the other to her lips. "Any ideas?"

He raised an eyebrow at her response, expression clearly stating his entertainment (and affable exasperation) at her continued attitude, though it was nothing new – the two of them tended to play this game a lot on jobs. It eased the tedium of waiting. “Well at least your skills no longer gravitate majorly in the violence direction” he responded, tone smug, well aware Rayna had been foisted on him those years ago for this very reason, and knew he was the reason she was less of a loose cannon now. He suspected she honestly could be fine working on her own now – but both of them had grown a bit complacent in their constant backup, and nether made any moves to talk to the family heads to get reassigned. He supposed that should worry him, but he knew it hadn't actually done anything to his skills – he still did jobs by himself. 'I'm also pretty sure someone has a personal interest in making sure someone is always watching her...'
He needed at Rayna when she asked him about getting a drink, following her quietly as she moved into the long, people-filled banquet hall, in search of more than alcohol, he was sure – escape routes and blind spots, insignificant corners and significant guests. Everything the two of them did was measured and often with a second purpose, but to the average bystander they looked typical enough. The redhead released her waist as she moved away from him and towards a serving tray of wine that was cutting slowly through the crowds, and he took a few steps back, leaning against one of the elegant stone pillars that surrounded the outer rim of the room. He did a quick sweep with his eyes under the guise of admiring the overdone decorations and pristine state of the large hall, unwilling to take the chance of assuming everything would go well considering there would be no dead bodies to find.
When his date returned with their drinks he took the one she offered and tilted it up, expression amused in a mock toast before he took a small swig of the drink. There was a long pause as he seemed to consider the question she posed, eyes moving to fixate on the host and the business partner that was their eventual mark not too far from him. They wouldn’t discuss anything in public – that meant the joys of waiting it out. They'd have to amuse themselves playing high class lackeys and (in Lukas' case at least) pretending to talk to the other guests while silently mocking them.
“For now, mingling. We'll take our cue from our lovely host. His business partner drove all the way down from Washington state for this little get together, apparently...I'm sure they have a lot of catching up to do one the party dies down a bit.” 'At which point we get to follow them around a bit and take out any guards as quiet as possible while we do.' He hated and liked gathering information – it challenged his skills in subtlety, but it was like being teased, touched, made out with, before getting your pants off, then getting left there – it just didn't end with enough excitement to balance out the tension made beforehand. 'I also hate these 'all or nothing' jobs. Way to give me wiggle room' Honestly he was only doing this because Vasha had asked him – apparently this picky customer had a lot of fingers in the black market, and if he removed them in a rage when he didn't get his way...well, it wouldn't be pretty.

Words: 000 Notes: Long overdue Violent or not Rayna knew that without her Lukas would be living a rather dull life. She added excitement into the lull of their job, sure killing people was not a normal job, but even death could get boring. With Rayna around she knew that she added something to the mix, and even if Lkas did not notice it, the woman was sure that Venedict and Nolan had. Lukas was someone that could miss so,ething so clear that was right under his nose. Like how there were some times where Rayna flirting with him was not always just for fun.
She knew that in the end Lukas was just her watchdog, trained to bite her if she ever made a wrong move. Of course no one ever told her why she was paired with him, but she knew better. As Lukas took the wine from her she noticed his eyes fix in a certain direction. She reached into her small purse and pulled out a small hand mirror. She held the mirror in the same hand that she held her drink, mastering a bit of a balancing act between her figures. She used the mirror to spot who Lukas had been looking at. All the while using her other hand to make it look like she was fixing her hair.
It all made sense now, she could tell just by looking, yes that was the host and his business partner, the one they were there for. From the sound of it Lukas made it feel like they were going to be there for a while. A pity too, since the only real thing to pass the time would be idle chatter and the wine. She placed the small mirror back into her purse everything she carried had a reason, be it a mirror or lipstick. Rayna knew better then to drink more then a glass or two so that meant that she was left to chatting with Lukas or some of the party goers. "Hmm of course, so is it safe to just enjoy my time with you, or would you rather I be a good girl and make some friends?" To be fair Rayna could really mean anything when it came to making friends, but for now it sounded more like a general wonder if she should leave Lukas' side or not.
She lifted her wine glass to her lips and took a sip while she scanned the room for good pray. There was this older man, looked like he was made of money, standing off on his own. Some very bored looking guards and a group of women chatting away. All good targets to strike a conversation with, but would Lukas want to give up his date to the crowd? Rayna could honestly care less, either he would send her away or keep her close, either way all they were doing was playing the waiting game.

“You go bat your eyelashes at the dads and I'll go put on my best smile for the daughters, yeah? See if you can find any of them that know any gossip about our friend.” he replied, taking a sip of his drink before he turned and moved away, movement confident, matching his expression. His eyes swept the area, and sure enough there was the typical small gathering of ladies that had been ignored by their fathers or husbands, who really didn't want to be here but enjoyed the gossip as well as the status is brought them. They were always a moderately reliable group to start with.
He went over and asked if they'd seen a young woman of a description that was entirely made up and avoiding those of whom he'd seen so far, going so far as to give her a name and an excuse that she was often the type to gravitate to those who didn't wish to really be part of the stuffy old men. When asked if it was his girlfriend, his face filled with a convincing mirth and he told them no, it was his sister, and introduced himself with his alias without a beat of hesitation. This was followed by a couple minutes of idle chatter, and a few questions about his 'sister'. When one of them claimed to have maybe seen someone similar to his description headed out the northwest exit, he went to take his leave, only to be stopped by the group – just as he had expected of them.
Well we don't mind a little extra company said one; I'm pretty sure she was arm in arm with a young man about as cute as you, so perhaps leave her be added what was obviously one of the bored wives. Lukas, naturally, was happy to oblige them. The next ten minutes were spent in seeming innocent conversation, in which he learned every connection each lady had to which inflated business ego in the room – sadly none of which were terribly close to being tied to his goal, save one, who was a daughter of one of the slightly farther out business associates. Beggars couldn't be choosers, and the assassin had focused on her.
Another ten minutes spent mingling, focusing heavily on the girl with the only ties he could see, dropping seemingly innocent questions as well as interjecting with information he knew was false, hoping he would be corrected. He was gaining little ground, however, and his main target, he felt, was holding back a little more than he liked. So, when some of the music struck up from the band in the far corner and several couples separated off to one end of the room and began to dance, it was an assured way to attempt to get her to be more comfortable around him (after all, assuming he was extremely interested in her), as well as separate her from the others, hoping she'd be more willing to divulge any information she'd 'overheard' while only in the company of him.

Words: 000 Notes: Long overdue Lukas was given a mischievous smile before she agree to leave him for a little. He was right, she had a better chance of picking up information from the old men then he would, most liked a pretty blonde on their arm. She would move across the room eyeing out her targets carefully. Once she found one she thought would be fun to play with she would glide her way into their line of sight and then within moments be approached by the man. Some would ask her if she was enjoying her time, while others tried to be suble on finding out who she was there with. She worked her magic pulling some useful information here and there, though to be fair not all of it was so great. Some would be useful for possible future jobs, but otherwise most of the info she picked up was blan.
The best she got was to get close to one of the men who spoke about the work between the client and the target. This man seemed to have been friends with both, at least as close as friends business partners could be. The man seemed worried about the target, which Rayna was happy to calm his doubts. While also being rather upset at her client. From how the story went the client had wronged the target in some way and was making out well fr it, while the target was not doing so well, but would bounce back in time. Rayna had to use all her self control not to laugh, she loved knowing that someone’s efforts were useless once Libertine was called in. She entertained the man for another two or so minutes from when the music started. When he asked her to dance, she declined his offer with a promise that she would been willing to entertain him even better, and maybe he should invite his friend the target also. He seemed to take the bait swimmingly and even gave her some very interesting information. This man and the target was sharing joined rooms at the closest hotel. What made everything even better was that he gave her both the room number and his number, too easy.
She left him, promising to give him a call a little later after the party had died down a bit more. Well at least if she had to get all flirty with someone she got lucky with someone who had to be no older than thirty-five which was a better catch than most of the other men in the room. She made her way back to where she last saw Lukas. Of course she was flirting it up with some trophy wife. She was patient, or at least tried to be, yet Rayna was known to be horrible at waiting. She walked over to the too and with a smile asked if she could cut in. Although Rayna was not as into her beauty as Natasha, she could tell that in a beauty match she could beat the women before her.
As if threatened by a viper the other women bowed out gracefully and handed Lukas over to Rayna. Now she hated dancing, but she had to admit it made talking about sensitive topics a lot easier. “I don’t know if you found out anything but, I’ve not news that our employer is a bit of a snake and our new friend is paying dearly for it.” She slipped him the napkin with the room number and other man’s phone number. ”Not the target himself, but a friend, who just so happens to be sharing joined rooms, of and may have a thing of little ol’ me. If theres any information, that might be the place to check?” She had gathered her info, the rest was up to Lukas. Did he want to go speak into some hotel? Send Rayna in? Call Venedict to play some security? Rayna really did not know what Lukas would want to do, but she was fine with any of it.

He was only a little bit surprised when his less-than-enlightening conversation with the young lady he'd been dancing with got shooed away by a blonde who Lukas did well to pretend he didn't know, greeting her with a light bow as his other dance partner scooted off, a wicked quirk on his lips as he took Rayna by the hand and pulled her in, other hand settling on her waist as he pulled her into the same perpetual movement as his other partner had suffered. He kept his head tilted low and ear towards her as he lead her along, listening to her speak of her own endeavors for information, which was luckily more successful than his. Maybe if they were lucky, they could get a hold of a travel or business schedule for the man they were after. The news of their employer being a sneaky asshole was nothing new, however – they all were, often times, luckily many were smart enough not to cross Libertine or his agents. The power of a two decade-long reputation, he supposed.
“Yeah I didn't find shit. Giggly gossipy crap mostly about who was cheating on who and the odd complaint about all the work daddy does and he 'doesn't have time for meeee' but nothing tangible. At least you got somewhere. I hate it when the girls are terrible at the one job I expect of them...I miss the ones who are trying to kill their husbands and take over the business, they're amazing with information. Too bad I always steal the glory from them.” he commented, raising his eyebrows and smirking at Rayna at the end. Then before she could make a response he shifted to push the blonde away from him, keeping a grip on one hand but the movement demanding she rotate out away from him. He shot her an amused look as she hit the end of the spin before pulling her back in and continuing to speak as if nothing happened.
“There's a business meeting happening in a couple hours between a few of the trusted partners, at the end of the party. Should we head up to the hotel room in the meantime? We'll have to be careful. If they smell a rat we're going to flush them out and they'll call off the meeting, or move it. I'm pretty sure I have the number of the meeting room they plan to use...it's one of the ones in the back, which means down nice long hallways away from the main floor. Its like they're trying to make it easy for us.” he added, mentally noting here he saw the entrance to the stairs when they'd came in. They'd been flanked by security detail, of course. They could deal with that...it was just a question should they risk it.

Words: 000 Notes: theres a plan here somewhere Rayna was not a fan of dancing, well not ballroom anyhow. She could rock out to some strong based tune quite easily but all this, step, step, something was not as easy as it looked. While she spent years learning how to shoot people she did not get any breaks for dance lessons. What she did know about dancing had been picked up from Lukas, which wasn’t a lot. Still she followed his lead well and at least knew that she wasn’t about to trip over her own feet. Still Lukas would get an ear full later for that spin move his forced on her. Of all things, if she had tripped up she would have killed him. At least in her mind she was pretty sure murder would be on the highest point of her list, though the reality was that the most she would be allowed to do would be to cause physical pain in some way. A nice stomp to the foot would probably work.
His question did bother her enough to have Rayna stay quiet as she thought about an answer. The fact that he was even asking for her opinion meant that this job just went from easy to tricky. Information, that was the reason for their being here. The question was, would they get more information sneaking into an empty room (which if they were unlucky get caught) or should they try to listen in to that meeting? ”The question is, which would lead us to our goal?” Getting that information we need and then leaving alive. Rayna was immensely pleased when the music stopped and she could finally stop dancing with Lukas. She didn’t even care if he followed as she moved away to the side of the room, away from other people and found a table to sit at. She tapped her fingers on the table as she spoke. ”With what we know, neither idea is tempting, but we need to pick one. Less chance of getting caught if we head to the hotel. There just might not be anything good for us there, then we return to step one”
The options were there, but for Rayna neither were looking good. On one hard the hotel room was safer, but there might be a lack of information. The meeting could be good, but chance of being caught was higher. Overall, Rayna wished she could just go back to shooting people from a distance. This whole sneaking around thing was more annoying than anything else, and then there was the dancing.

“Can manage both if we're fast, to be honest, but fast can end in evidence, so we'd have to be careful and limit what we touched.” he stated, seeming to debate for a brief moment about it. He could do small time windows, but no one ever liked doing them, no matter what your job. It was unnecessarily stressful. Then again, considering fifty percent of the time his job was likely to end in a shootout, his was a bit more stressful than a desk job who wanted that report in early. Nevertheless, he came to a decision for the time being. “We'll poke around the room a bit – carefully – if we see no signs of useful shit we'll head down here.” he added as he went to stand, holding a hand our to Rayna. However, before she could get out her seat, he smirked, and with an exaggerated concerned voice, addressed her conveniently acquired inebriation.
“Oh look Ray, you're looking a bit tipsy maybe we should take you to our hotel room.” He raised eyebrows at her and 'helped' her stand, making a show of bracing one hand at the small of her back as if he was helping her move, and steered her out of the ballroom, the both of them going almost completely unnoticed as they went. Everyone was far too busy stroking their own egos to ever be concerned about a man and his less than coherent girlfriend leaving. Around the main floor and to where the signs pointed for stairs he led her, giving a nod and a smile at the security guard as he passed the doorway, who did nothing to stop them.
He pulled her into the stairwell, and as soon as he did he spoke in a low tone, but made sure not to change how they moved. “Can't hear us in here but they probably have cameras so keep up the act. Better than the elevator at least, impossible to do anything in those. Floor and room number would be nice, please and thank you.” he requested, already beginning his ascent up the stairs with his 'drunk date' in tow. “And if you say something like floor fourteen, I hope you're aware I'm going to request to cry openly into your bosom.”

”Yes, I rather we be careful then mess anything up. Maybe you would just get a slap on the wrist, but for me I’d probably end up with a harsher punishment if anything went wrong.” Sadly what she said was the truth, Lukas was one of the favorites, while Rayna was treated with tolerance. She really didn’t mind though, she understood why, she was introduced like a animal many years ago. Like a prized fighting dog she was put up for sale and taken in to be trained to be even better. In terms of her training it helped her in the end, gave her worth, gave her a reason to be kept alive. She got shelter, food, a very basic education. Although everything they taught her was just so she could work well. She learned to read in three languages, write in two, she was allowed to keep her German because to the higher ups, the more she knew the better of use she could be.
She took Lukas’ lead and grabbed onto his hand, reading to stand up when he made a comment. She caught the hint quickly and went along with his plan. She allowed him to help her stand and acted as if she would fall over at any second if she wasn’t careful. She was of course not drunk, but knew very well how to fake it. She fell into his arms and added her own comment as they started to walk. ”I believe that you are right, I am so sorry, it seems I may have had a little more than I intended, please forgive me.” She followed his lead out of the ballroom, and towards the stairs. They did well as they moved along. No one really stopped to care or ask where they were headed. To passerby’s the pair just looked like a young couple when were leaving the party early cause the female of the pair had just a bit too much.
As they walked up the stairs Lukas finally decided to ask for details, he was still holding her, so there was no way she could check the napkin. Luckily for Lukas, Rayna remembered the small details fairly well. ”Luck for us it’s only the fourth floor, room 423.” His comment at her breast made her want to smack him, but due to the role they were playing they couldn’t do such things. There was nothing to worry about though, she would get back at him later. They would walk the rest of the flight of stairs keeping up the act, Rayne even added to it by stopping on the third floor and pretending that she needed a second to catch her breath. She even continued to hold Lukas’ had as she wabbled a bit and then let him continue to guide her up.
Once on the fourth floor Rayna pushed away from Lukas and drunken wobbled her way to the room she had been told about. Yes this was the room, but now they had a problem, how to get in? Rayna knew that he could pick a door rather easily, but this was one of those card key doors and there happen to be a young roomservice male just a few doors down. Just then a idea came to mind, a wonderful idea that allowed Rayna to mess with Lukas. ”ugh, honey, lets get inside, quick, I still have to show you how much I looove you.” She was playing the drunk girlfriend rather well and continued to do so as she grabbed onto Lukas shirt and started to undress him in the hall. ”I can’t wait.” If Lukas followed her lead then he would use his charms to pressure the young man into opening the room for them, either that or risk watching Rayna take advantage of Lukas in the hallway.

He should have known Rayna would pull some crap on him somewhere, but he hadn't quite been prepared for the stunt to convince the room service kid to open the door for them. It took all his willpower not to glare at her, because as much as he liked improvising some things, this was a little over the top, when they could have waited for a clear hall and no witnesses. Did she even think about the fact that now, if it was discovered the room was broken in to, there was someone who could ID them? Obviously she hadn't...to little, too late now, though. He'd have to roll with it.
“Hey, kid-” he called over, though considering the fuss Rayna had been making he'd already looked over at them “could you grab my card and unlock the door, I can't-” as if to accent his point, he snatched a hand that was wandering too low, making a great show of attempting to restrain the blonde, and he was amused to note the terrified look on the poor kids face that stated plainly 'oh god please no not on the hall where I work I'll get fired'. Sadly, probably a legitimate fear in a place like this. Under different circumstances, less...”urgent” ones, he suspected even with hands full of anything but shameless woman and they would have checked for his own card. As it was, the most strain Lukas had to go to was making a very desperate 'please' face.
As it was, the flustered state coupled with a want to get them out of the hall led the poor dupe right into what they wanted, his jamming his universal key in and swinging the door open for them. Lukas promptly shoved Rayna in, mouthed a thank you to the room service, pointedly sticking the do not disturb sign on the handle before shutting and locking it with a loud click. He immediately rolled his shoulders and held his partner at a blatant and very clear arm's length, hands keeping a firm grip on her shoulders for a couple seconds so she got the message. His expression was not amused.
“I could have picked it dammit.” he grumbled, flipping a rude gesture at her. “I'm going to hope that stunt was just to dick with me, and not a lack of faith in my skills. You never compliment me anymore, it makes me feel so under-appreciated. Check the bathroom.” He hadn't even paused for her response to his teasing when he motioned her towards the adjoined bathroom, taking up his own task of picking his way into the small den. Papers were scattered all over the tables, a couple briefcases set against chairs, and a laptop still open but turned off, as well – all far too obvious to be anything of use, save for perhaps the computer, and he was definitely not good with computer cracking. When he heard Rayne question why she was being sent to the bathroom, he sighed.
“If they wanted to hide something, it wouldn't be in plain sight...most likely, anyway, unless they're extremely stupid. Check the closet with the ironing board and towels, check the cupboards near the sink, hell check the toilet tank, I don't care, just check.” 'And I'll run the check for the 'extremely stupid' part.' he added to himself, mostly because he could see Rayna slipping and picking up a piece of revelatory paper with her bare hands. While neither of them existed on proper records, old covers still left traces in some databases (which did speak levels to the depths some covers went, and the effort went into them), and even traces to cold trails could get you killed. It was a very slim risk, but one he wasn't willing to take.
