There was a promise that still needed to be kept, but was forcing the issue really the right thing to do? The man with long white hair had spent hours upon hours of time thinking over what was right. The room needed its protectors, this was true. Yet to have those people, alive once again, he would need to alter the lives of every day normal people. It also did not help him to know that he had made a promise with the society to keep from doing just that. Now he was stuck between keeping a promise with the society, or keeping a promise with some old friends.
Years of living, of watching people awaken by their past selves, told him that even if he did not interfere, the past would still repeat. After all, this was not the first, or the last time he would be in the middle of a growing war, only time time he was putting aside his passive nature to see a few things go a bit differently. So here he was, told by the book that this women, this Nemesis Arkwood was the one to bring back the Air Pupil. Someone who was once a good friend, someone he used to call brother, among the others who protected the Rune Room.
Today, with the sun reaching high noon, he waited on the pier, close to the entrance of the Rune Room. He knew that she would be coming, the room was calling to her, begging for her to return. That was only one of many powers the room held, it kept people drawn to it, both good and bad. For now the room was safe, high tide made sure to keep the room covered from anyone who was not allowed to enter. He did not need the room, oh no, he had what he needed. In his hand he held a small gold watch, it no longer worked, but that was because the clock work inside was connected to the beating heart of one man. A heart that no longer existed, but soon, just maybe this new heart would awaken the clock, proving to Lupus that, without a doubt, this women was the Air Pupil.
He looked down that the old item, he had kept it hidden from people like Arcturus and Giovanni, or any of the other artifact hunters of the society. This watch was made for one person, and would work for only one person. That person, at least for Lupus, was still left undetermined, but when had the book ever lied to him? His mind, only halting from its wander, when he spotted long black hair. Studying her face her knew, this had been the women he had been waiting for. "Nemesis Arkwood." He spoke her name with a friendly tone, almost as if he had known her for ages, though in a way that was almost true. "I see the rune room does have the power to summon you, I am Lupus. If you will, I would like to have a moment of your time so we may speak. " He motioned his hand to the left, where a lone wooden bench sat, away from the busier parts of the pier.

THE WAR OUTSIDE KEEPS RAGING ON HOLD ON TO THIS LULLABY . . . EVEN WHEN THE MUSIC'S GONE — ! ❞ Let it be known that for all the curiosity she had, Nemesis Arkwood had had no intention on ever returning to that odd room she had seen not to long ago. The odd events that had occurred didn't exactly feel like a dream, and no matter how many times she told herself that it was just all in her head, there was something gnawing at the back of her mind that said otherwise. That, and she felt like something was calling out to her again. Despite the fact that she had done well to ignore it for the past few days, she couldn't ignore the feeling any longer.
So here she was, a little bit away from the Santa Monica Pier. Her steps were slow, almost as if she was trying to convince herself that it was a horrible idea to return back to that room. However, the highly curious side of her kept her moving forward as she continued her way to the Rune Room. However, as she got closer to the spot where the secret stairwell had been, the dark-haired femme was surprised to see this white-haired male not standing to far away from the very some spot. It almost looked like he was waiting for something or someone, and that made her panic.
But there was something in her that wasn't going to let her leave and that scared her to death.
Nemi perked up at the sound of her name, absolutely puzzled as to how this man knew her name. She had never met him before, yet he acted as if they had been friends for so long. It took all her willpower to not let her eyes bug out at the mention of the hidden room. Although these two things unnerved her, she gave him a small nod as she walked closer to the man before going to sit on the wooden bench. So his name was Lupus... That still doesn't answer what he wants with me,' she thought nervously, watching him warily. "It's... a pleasure to meet you, Lupus. If you don't mind me asking, how is it that you know who I am and what do you want with me? And also... how do you know about the room?"
There were currently millions of things that were rushing through her mind as she waited for him to respond, her hand clenched in her lap. It was obvious that she was nervous by this whole thing, but if he knew something about the room and what happened in that room not too long ago, it wouldn't kill her to just listen to him.

Lupus was both pleased and surprised that Ms. Arkwood was taking everything so well. He had met more trying people when confronting them about things such as the room or the existence of Fate. She took a seat and he followed, sitting beside her and extended his hand for her's so that he could kiss the back of her hand. He was a gentleman after all, even with years of life he was not a rude man. Though Nemesis seemed to want nothing but answers, though Lupus really could not blame her. He sat up and thought for a second about what he should say, he had planned what to say earlier, but not that he was here, nothing made much sense to say.
"Yes well, first I see that I should explain that I know about the room because I, in a sense, connected to it. I can both read and use the book and enter the room at anytime. Now this would explain how I know your name, you see the book in the center of the room, we call it the Rune Room. This room told me your name, and that you would be here, near the room." It had been some time since Lupus was allowed to say so much, and he hoped that he was at least making some sense. He looked down and eyed the broken clockwork, so old, its aged showed by the rust that covered its gears. He really hoped that the book was right, peering into the future was never certain. Humans had the power of changing the future with ease, enough ease to even trick the book.
"Now to answer your other question, what I would like from you is not much. You see I would like to test something, the book has told me that you, and the friends you were here with on the 20th are all in some way connected to the past." She shifted in his seat and then stood, trying to explain everything would take too much time, time he did not have.
"It really is too much to explain at this moment, but in basics, there was a time in the past where magic and unknown powers were not just myth, but real. You have a connection, not sure how, with these people from the past. Now I would like to prove this, both to you and myself, all I need if for you to take this watch." He extended his hand to Nemesis, all he could do now was wait and see if she would do as he asked. The watch was rusted and old, but when looked at closely it was easy to tell that it was once a beautiful piece of clockwork.

THE WAR OUTSIDE KEEPS RAGING ON HOLD ON TO THIS LULLABY . . . EVEN WHEN THE MUSIC'S GONE — ! ❞ Had anyone been nearby and heard their conversation, the raven-haired female was certain that they would be staring at them as if they were absolutely mad. Although, she could not blame them; what normal person wouldn't find the thought of a room telling someone a person's name a little far-fetched? Hell, if she didn't know any better, she would find what Lupus was saying to be absolutely crazy... But she knew and she was readily listening to him.
Yet... there was still that odd part of her brain that was telling her that everything that was being was still improbable. However, she tried her best to suppress all those thoughts of doubt as she alternated her gaze between the white-haired male and her hands in her lap.
At being told of the watch, her indigo eyes rested on the clockwork with curiosity and apprehension. All she had to do was take the watch and that was it. Despite the fact that she would perhaps gain more knowledge of the Rune Room below the sands, there was still that part of her that was doubting it. What was supposed to happen when she took the watch? What was the purpose of the watch anyhow? Many more thoughts rushed through her mind as she flickered her eyes over the man's face before resting once again on the clock.
"I... Don't know exactly what it is that you're expecting of me once I grab the watch. What if nothing happens? What if wandering into that room was a fluke of some sort?" Nemi questioned slowly, tentatively lifting her hand towards the watch. "All this information seems like nonsense... But..." She stopped her speaking as she brushed her fingers over the clockwork before fully grasping onto it.
Doesn't hurt to try, does it? she wondered.

At first Lupus was not sure that she was going to listen or not. He knew, after years of explaining the same story over and over. That it could be a difficult thing to grasp. She was doing well however, concerning that fact that Lupus had just explained a few things that to the normal person made no sense. In a matter of seconds he had told Nemi that there is a magical book, links to the past and that these links could be tested by a simple broken watch. Even Lupus would have had a bit of trouble wrapping his mind around such news, maybe next time her would go into a bit more detail and take his time with explaining. Nemi reached out for the watch and took it in hand, for a moment nothing happened, to Lupus disappointment. He sighed, maybe he was wrong about her? Lupus extended his hand to retrieve the watch but just then he paused, was that ticking he heard? "Listen, this watch had been broken for years. You saw before, it was quiet and the gears did not move." He was right, looking at it now the inner clock work was now moving, gears working together to get the hands moving. A faint ticking sound could be heard if a person took the time to listen closely. Other then the ticking a new change happened right before their eyes. A bright gleam started from the corner of the watch and spread across the rest of the watch. Rust disappeared from the surface of the watch and in seconds the watch looked clean and brand new. The light gold watch ticked and looked new, what made its presence known even more was that it started to pulse, only for a moment, following the beating of Nemi's heart. That was it, this was what Lupus was waiting for, but he could tell that the watch wasn't enough, she was not awakening into her past self. Maybe he would have to wait a little longer. "This watch once belong to a friend of mine, you now share the same links as he did, history will try to repeat itself, but it will be up to you what you do. Take things easy, any questions just come to the room, it will summon me and I will try my best to answer your questions." He stood up and dusted himself off any sand that might have blown on him from the beach. "For now, I would advise you to just take things slowly, memories and strange things might start to happen from now on."

THE WAR OUTSIDE KEEPS RAGING ON HOLD ON TO THIS LULLABY . . . EVEN WHEN THE MUSIC'S GONE — ! ❞ When nothing happened after touching the clock, the ravenette wasn't exactly surprised. She had told the man that nothing was going to happen, that he had the wrong person. Still, she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed in the fact that nothing happened. There was a small part of her that hoped that something would happen just so it could explain all the weird things that she experienced in that room. Nemi didn't want to be confused anymore, but the lack of anything happening just threw her into more confusion.
Just as she was about to give the clock right back to Lupus, she took pause when he mentioned ticking. Staring at him oddly, she sat quietly to listen and found herself amazed at hearing the faint clicking of the watch. Her indigo eyes were glued to the watch just as something strange happened to the clockwork, something she once thought could only happen with magic or something. The clocked started sort of glowing in a sense and looked as if it was brand new. But how was that possible? It was totally illogical for anything like that to happen, but she found herself taking this occurrence in stride. This hadn't been the strangest thing to happen to her as of yet; besides, this could lead her to the answers she was seeking.
At hearing the white-haired man's voice again, she removed her gaze from the pulsating clockwork to look at him. She shared links with a man who was his friend? But how was that even possible? And what did he mean that history would try to repeat itself? Questions flitted through her mind as she also stood up, staring back down at the clock in her hand. Despite the fact that she was trying to quiet her mind so that the questions wouldn't bother her, the questions still didn't let up any. But instead of bombarding the man with all of them at once, she instead went for another approach.
"So... This watch belonged to your friend and I now have connections in the same way he did once," she echoed back, careful indigo eyes settled on the white-haired man. "And because of the room and this watch, things are going to be different for me now, right? My life won't be the same..."
Nemi stood quietly for a moment, reflecting on the thought of her life changing just because of a few odd occurrences. How different were things going to be now? Thoughts of her boyfriend flickered through her head before she shoved those thoughts away and gave Lupus a small smile. Nodding her head, she placed the watch in her pocket and gave him another smile. "Thank you... I will come see you if I have any questions. I just hope not too many things change now."
That being said, she quietly began to walk away, but not before looking over her shoulder to look at Lupus and the direction of the Rune Room.
