In order to participate in this event thread you must first claim you spot. To claim a spot you must simply respond with a post to this thread, please note it is first come first serve. TASK | [cs=3][atrb=valign,top][atrb=style,width: 450px; text-align: center; padding-left: 25px; padding-right: 25px;]
It is completely up to your character what happens in this event. This being said there are six numbers you must choose from. In your post make a side note about what number you choose. You cannot pick a claimed number and the numbers are from 1 - 6. You will get a Pm from Fate about what this number mean for your character. Just a helpful hint, fate is inclined to help characters with lovely posts who respond with great character development and stay in character. Nerdy men don't magically become courageous, fate will be sure to be slightly nicer to you if your posts are great and accurate! Please do not share what your individual task is with other players. This is to make the event more realistic since some peoples tasks may be counter productive to your task. For example someone may have their task to kill someone while your task is to save them. Again, please keep your tasks to yourself. Also feel free to speculate what other peoples tasks are, at the end of the event I will put up all the tasks for other members to see how mean I am! If you fail to complete your task you are not guaranteed to die but it is not preferable as bad things tend to happen, you also do not receive any residue if you do not complete your goal.

Tobias gingerly sat on the park bench with his legs dangling over the edge, his legs not quite able to touch the ground. The last few rays of sunshine cast a warm glow where ever it touched, the sun was not setting but it was clear that in a few hours the sun would plunge below the horizon. The little boy knew his mother would be done at work soon, she always came to pick him up when the sun looked the way it did. He knew his mom worked very hard to try and provide for him which is why she always stayed late at her office. Tobias hated waiting for his mom, he always sat in the park and awaited for his mom to pick him up. It was scary, he knew about stranger danger, his first grade teacher had told the whole class about it. Tobias always feared that someone would could and offer him some candy before they stole him away and he would never be able to see mommy again.
Tobias shook slightly, he was making himself scared and he didn't like it one bit. He stood up from the park bench with a small thud. The boy looked around, there were always people walking in the park but none of them seemed to be his mom, a frown was brought to his childish lips. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other as he tried to use his limited patience. Tobias shook his head in frustration, his bright blond curls seemed to bounce with the action. Tobias wanted his mommy.
He started to run towards the street, the crosslight telling him to wait. Tobias approached the crosswalk, his small size caused him to have to look upward at the people around him. They were mostly people around his mommy's age and they were people dressed so sad, in black suits and stuff. Tobias figured it was an adult thing to be sad. A small click alerted him that the sign said he could cross. Tobias wasted no time in running towards the other side of the road where a tall entrance to an office building was. He knew it was his moms! He ran towards the revolving doors and pushed as hard as his little muscles allowed him to. The door slowly started to budge. It took him about a minute to finally open the door, it was then that he ran through the large lobby and towards the elevator and pushed the button. He loved the small little light up button, so much that he continued to push the button. He would have to wait until the big shiny doors would let him in to see his mommy.

Fate could feel its' tendrils of power snaking down every crack in the sidewalk. The small weeds in between the cracks seemed to twitch at the sensation of this power. A lone dandelion seemed to utilize this power. The dandelion grew out of one of the cracks in what mortals would consider a blink of an eye. Fate had no real concern, it's power was almost limitless. The dandelion shrivelled up just as fast as it had grown, no one could handle the power of fate. The power of fate was unfazed by the dandelion. Nothing would stand in the way of fate, it was an unwritten law. Fate continued down the block, unidentifiable to any living thing. The only hint that fate was even present was the cold air that seemed to encase it. Time seemed to slow around fate, or speed up. No one has really survived to distinguish which one. Fate's energy seemed to ripple and surge with power at the sensation if was starting to feel.
It was here
The past could be easily felt from this distance. The mortal which contained the link to the past was close by. A small tendril of fate started to wrap itself around the traffic lights. Slowly engulfing it with sheer power. The traffic lights seemed to flicker between the three colours before blacking out completely. A power surge. Fate was having trouble being able to contain itself. The past was so close it could almost taste the once bountiful earth. Fate slowly sunk into the ground, a small rumbling could be felt on the sidewalk by people passing by. Fate could not actively attain the past link, fate could bring down the whole building if it got too close. Fate instead settled for resting in the ground. The pulsating power could be felt as it rhythmically tried to restrain itself.

Lucas hated being in suits, but he had learned a long time ago that lawyers always took him more seriously when he was dressed liked them, and he needed to be taken seriously. A few days ago he discovered a small health shop had been using his name and image to promote their products without asking permission or paying royalties. This really pissed him off, and he'd honestly love to see the store demolished, but monetary compensation and a formal apology in a newspaper would be just a good. The lawyers would be able to figure that part out though.
He looked curiously at the kid pushing the elevator button over and over. It was kind of cute, but he had better not be making the elevator go any slower. “Hey, Careful you don't break the button kid.” He said, hoping the child's parents would be around somewhere. He looked over his shoulders, but no one seemed to acknowledged the child as there own. Huh... “Uh... are your parents around? Do they know you're trying to use the elevator?” He imagined if this guy ran off on his own, they'd probably be worried sick. “Maybe you should head back to them before they get too worried about you.”

A half-finished sketch decorated the white canvas, rough and faint from not putting enough pressure behind the pencil. It wasn't great, but he had run out of time to finish it. He had to be back on campus before it got dark.
Stuffing the notepad and pencil back into his backpack, Billy stood up and walked out of the bushes he'd been hiding behind, brushing the dirt and grass off of his jeans. He walked along the sidewalk in the park, heading towards the exit. People passed by on both sides, but he paid no attention to them, preferring to keep his head down to make sure he didn't trip on stray roots or cracks. A small shiver passed through his body. A cold wind, perhaps the last remnants of Winter trying to hang on through Spring as long as it could? Billy's hand adjusted on the strap over his shoulder. That would make an interesting drawing actually.
He was brought out of his reverie as he came upon the main street, stopping at the crosswalk with the dozens of other residents and business people of that area. Watching for the signal to cross, Billy trailed behind the crowd, trying to keep himself from getting too close to them. He had just reached the other side, his foot touching the white pavement of the sidewalk, when he noticed a flashing of lights out of the corner of his eye. Looking up, he spotted just in time to watch the streetlights flicker and then die out. A power outage? There wasn't even a storm! As the thought passed, a rumbling started beneath him. He braced himself on the nearest building, waiting to see if it got worse or just faded away. Earthquakes weren't a strange thing to him, after all. But it did neither of those things. Instead, the tremble seemed to settle in the ground, a constant rumble underneath. He looked around, no doubt just as confused as everyone else passing by.

"Quinn Markoff, please." The lady behind the desk gave the redhead a look, as if his existence was an offence to their very building. Sigh. Wear a suit, clean up, look quite nice, and people still looked at him like he was unprofessional. One piercing could do a lot for one's image. Taught him to not take bets anymore. "It's a bit important, miss." he insisted in a carefully neutral tone. She finally looked back down at her books, eyeing what was obviously a schedule. After a ridiculously long amount of time of her browsing the list (which he was sure she did on purpose), she finally answered "He's with an appointment right now, you'll have to-"
"Tell him Kravec is here to see him." he interrupted her smoothly, smiling his most winning smile. She paused, staring at him dubiously, before picking up the phone and punching in the line to the man's office. She spoke to him a few moments, and Lukas stood by to ensure she mentioned that name. He knew Markoff knew exactly what that name meant. He was one of the few lawyers in this town very…closely tired to Lukas' own organization. In other words, if the shit hit the fan and something did leak to the public, he was one of the people who ensured to defend them.
The woman finished her conversation, which ended fast after the name mentioning, and she told him he would be called up within the next fifteen minutes. He gave the woman a parting smile and went to sit in the small waiting area nearby, seating himself in one of the cushy leather chairs and pulling out his phone. It was an easy way to keep himself busy - or at least seem busy - until the time came. Luckily this wasn't a horribly important visit - nothing major had happened. It was to check in on the status of one of the former cases he'd handled for them and…subtly remind him whose strings he was attached to. This one, after all, had been rumored to be a potential to go rouge against them. And that was never good.
This, of course, being why Lukas was sent. No, the lawyer didn't know who he was - that was way too risky - but Lukas…he was always notorious for talking people into or out of things. And subtle threats. He was always good at that. And of course the fact he was visiting the man in his office - all of this had to be worded so carefully, in case of surveillance systems. Natural answer to this delicate situation? Send Lukas, of course. He didn't mind the work, even if it was a bit dull compared to his other jobs…everyone needed those easy jobs to remind them what a challenge the others were. Of all the things he expected from this meeting, though - what seemed to be an earthquake while sitting in the waiting room was...not one of them.

A few hours prior, the sun had been high in the sky and it was a perfectly pleasant day for everyone living in south California. Of course, Theodore would have been happier had he actually got to spend his time in the beautiful weather, but no. He woke up this morning to the voice of his manager shouting into his ear and magnifying the pounding in his head from lack of sleep. According to his self proclaimed “friendliest manager in Disneyland”, his coworker had come down with the flu and Theodore needed to be in for work immediately. He recalled hearing that same coworker bragging a week ago about going on a date today, but Theodore said nothing and promised his manager he’d be down as soon as possible. After standing at the cash register for a few hours, it was decided that business was slow enough that Theodore could end his shift.
As disappointing as it was that he had not been able to enjoy what was a glorious day, Theodore decided that he may as well explore his newest city of residence. He had been in Los Angeles for a little over a month when he realized that he had never actually explored the downtown area. Then again, there was so much to see in Los Angeles; Theodore decided that he may as well take it slow. Who knows how long he would stay here?
But as he walked he noticed the small child racing across the street by himself. It worried him a bit to see such a small child alone on the streets. At the very least the child had the decency to wait until the signs indicated that he could walk. Theodore watched the little boy run through the front doors of a large building that he could identify as a large lawyer group. Should he follow? After a moment of hesitation, Theodore slipped into the grand building. He spotted the child standing at the elevator, waiting patiently for the lift to arrive.
The child seemed well at home here and no security stopped him. Perhaps he was thinking too much into it. As he turned to leave the building, the ground began to shake. Theodore lost his balance and fell face first into the glass doors. [classy=oocz]tag: Fate - Words: not many. - notes: Number 3, please. [/style] [atrb=valign, top][classy=middlez]Rayna had to play back up today, luckily it was something that she was very used to. It also meant that she got to play dress up, something she found enjoyable most days. With Lukas here to deal with this bastard of a lawyer Rayna was meant to just walk around the building and stay close if needed. That was a easy enough task. The only thing that bothered her was the fact that they had to come in a normal car today, no motorcycle. Otherwise everything else was going fine, she was dressed up all pretty today. She had on a nice business look to her. She wore a clean grey top that was complemented by a long black skirt that had a nice slit to it on the right side. In her right hand was a large suitcase. Inside this case was her sniper rifle.
Rayna had brought with her for the moment Lukas told her that a stronger impact was needed. To add to her weaponry she has a small but useful switchblade hidden in her cleavage. Today her hair was also pulled back in a bun and she wore fake glassed to give herself a more of an office look. With Lukas taking care of things she decided to walk down the nearest hallway to get a look at one of the windows that showed the street below. There, while she sipped her favorite coffee, she noticed the street lights going out. Wonderful, with their luck leave would be a pain. She hated having to stay in any kind of traffic.
For now she would not worry about it, no, she had more important things to deal with. She looked around to see if anyone was close bye. Then she spoke into what seemed like nothingness, but was really a wireless connection with Lukas two-way earpiece. "You know, I don't mind waiting, but if this guy takes too long I might just shoot him anyways." Today was starting to become interesting, lawyers, street lights going out and the ground shaking. Tobias turned to look up at the man who was talking to him. Without hesitation the little boy pushed the button more frantically. 'STRANGER DANGER STRANGER DANGER STRANGER DANG-"The little boy yelled in alarm as he was taught in school to let it be known he didn't know this grown up who was talking to him. It was only when he was yelling the second time did he notice something was very wrong. Tobias stopped mid word as he saw the person cripple over in pain. It was the man behind the help desk in the lobby, he appeared to be screaming in pain. Tobias felt his knees start to shake.
Cling.
The elevator doors opened and Tobias wasted no time in running into the empty elevator. He was too scared to think of pushing a number on the elevator. From the small enclosed metal walls he could here more screaming. Tobias covered his ears with his hands and started to cry. He wanted his mommy and Tobias would never see her again. He just knew it. He let out a small whimper before slowly slinking to a squatting position within the corner of the elevator. His mommy would come and save the day, she had to, she was his mom.

His hands reached towards his eye, the main source of the pain. It was all over in an instant. The man was no longer a man, he stood as if nothing had happened, he had changed. What appeared to be mechanics and gears seemed to grow out of his eye socket, a newly developed eye now in its place. His mind was still shifting...
The mortals around him were insignificant, he had to locate the right one. They all seemed identical, the heightened sense of sight was almost nauseating. He turned to the direction of the elevator and spotted a red haired person. He could count almost every hair on the man's head, his sense of sight invigorating as he cocked his head to the side. He might be the one.
--
A women who was getting ready to head home started to scream as she covered her ears. It lasted only a heartbeat but then the pain was gone. She stood up rather slowly, the sound of a birds winds beating outside could be heard. She winced at the pain of her newly brightened sense of hearing. Her right hear seemed to be made of clockwork, it appeared to be adjusting still to the newly developed ear. She could hear her own heartbeat, it somehow sounded metallic. The other heartbeats in the room seemed to be rather fluid and soft. They were mortals. She was having trouble identifying which heartbeat was the right heartbeat. She would have to analyze them carefully. She stood near the staircase in an upright position as she tried to tune herself to the right heartbeat.

Things suddenly felt very strange. One moment Lucas taken aback by the screams of the young boy, at least his parents taught him well enough to avoid strangers. But the next... something felt off. He heard a cry of pain and turned towards the source, just as he heard a cling and the whoosh of the elevator doors opening. The screaming suddenly stopped, and the man was slowly standing up. Something... was very wrong now.
“What... the hell is...” The man's eye had undergone a horrific transformation, Lucas had absolutely no idea how something like this could happen. He took a step away from the monstrosity, but felt himself move forwards. Something told him this wasn't the time to run away. Not this time. The... thing was looking at him. Right. At. Him. He wished it would stop, and fast. He looked around the lobby, there quite a few people, all of the looked terrified, and he could hear the boy sobbing behind him. They needed help, they needed someone to point them in the right direction. He'd have to do it.
He took a step back into the elevator at least to hold it open, so the boy wouldn't become trapped somewhere dangerous. The best course of action would be to apprehend that... thing. The last thing anyone needed was blood on their hands. But how to tell them. He turned his head and looked at the boy. “it's going to be ok. I know I'm a strange, but I'm sure your parents told you that sometimes there are good strangers, like policemen, and ambulance people. I know I am not one of them, but for now, i need you to pretend i am. I'm going to make sure you get to your parents safely, understand?” He nodded to the young boy and turned to the others in the room.
The monster was still watching him. He had to act fast. That... thing used to be human. Maybe he could turn it back somehow... maybe at a hospital. He would need a phone to call 911. that monster was behind the counter, and he was sure it wanted him. Better incapacitate it fast then. He grabbed the fire extinguisher that was near the elevator and pulled the safety pin out of it. It's seemed to really like that eye, if he could blind it, he should be able to get help from the others to tie it up.
He walked towards the thing, lifted the extinguisher, and pulled the trigger.

Some stranger, who had apparently face-planted into the door during the rumbling. He moved away from the building slightly, so that he could stand in front of the glass and find out if the man was alright.
He didn't get a chance to. Screams echoed out from the building. He jumped a second time in surprise, fear rippling through him. Screams. Screams were never a good thing. One was supposed to run away from screams. But looking through the glass and into the lobby, he was horrified by what he saw. Billy was barely aware of it as his feet carried him into the law office, into the lobby. And stopped him, staring right at the man at the desk. It had to be a human, right? At least, it once was. He was pretty sure the law office wouldn't hire anyone as a clerk looking like that.
A monster. Mutant. He didn't know what it was, but it wasn't natural, and it was terrifying. Sure, it was once a human, but it certainly wasn't anymore. And, he noticed, its attention seemed to be directed towards the elevators. Was it the red-haired man? Or the little kid crying inside the elevator? Whoever it was focused on, he had to do something, and fast, or it could kill one of them.
His rapidly thinking mind processed and formed a plan as his eyes scanned the room. That could work, if he timed it just right. But he had to neutralize the monster first. Knock it out or make it unable to move. He had to get rid of it, and fast. Glancing around again, he spotted something he could use. A potted plant by the door. If he could throw it hard enough, fast enough, at the right angle, it could knock the monster out. Who knows, maybe he could hit just the right spot and he wouldn't even have to go through with his second plan to get rid of it. Picking up the pot, Billy emptied out the plant and dirt, took aim, and threw it. Nice, easy day of work, yeah? Threaten a lawyer/potential mole. Go have lunch. Go home and watch TV. Simple. You know until the earth started to fucking shake and all that good stuff. As soon as he'd felt the tremor Lukas got to his feet, slowly, one had out to steady himself on the chair, and instantly alert of everything that was going on - less attention on the people and more on the building itself. The ceiling coming down was a much larger concern to him than the civilians near him, to say the least - though they were distracting, with the shouts and exclamations they gave out. When he was assured the building wasn't going to come down within the next five seconds, his eyes scanned the rest of the aera. At the same time, he decided it was a wise idea to check on his partner.
"Rayna you alive? A hunk of plaster didn't fall on your head or anything, right?" he asked, barely moving his lips and keeping his voice low. Even this he felt was risky - no one could see his earpiece and he didn't want to arouse suspicions. The only reason he made an exception to speak to her? Well, he was pretty damn sure no one was paying attention to him. Whatever she actually said in response, however, eh didn't hear - he heard her, yes, but not what she said, which was enough to tell him she was, indeed, alive. No, his eyes were too busy being trained on the man bent over and writhing at the desk. His first thought was that maybe the ceiling was collapsing and that was the first victim…no, no, the ceiling was still up there. So what was…
He wasn't sure but he didn't like it. He took a few steps cautiously away from the chair he'd been steadying himself on, ready to make a run for the door if he had to. However, if a disaster was about to befall this building it was his job to find Markoff and either secure him, or…make sure he was dead. Even if a building were to come down (which this one still looked pretty damn stable), one could not assume he'd die in the catastrophe. And that would grant him an opportunity to escape the organization's eyes…which he would be blamed for. Yeah…Markoff was going to have to be a priority.
"A knife would be nice to make me feel better, yeah? We gotta find Markoff before he bails." he spoke in the same low tone into his earpiece. He carefully began to move towards the blonde woman that was slightly down the hall from him - close enough to be in sight, but far enough to make it look as if they weren't together when they came in. He met her halfway there, carefully standing close so she could pass him the switchblade without anyone noticing. He pushed ti and held it up the sleeve of his suit discreetly, leaning in close enough to whisper in Rayna. "Go up there. Intimidate him. Make sure he follows you down. Do not kill him. He's useful, we want him alive if we can."
As soon as he said that he moved away from here, making a move for the stairs. He was counting on no one noticing the two of them because of all the disorder and…panic…wait panic? What had happened while he wasn't looking. Several people were staring at the man who had been convulsing before, in shock and horror, and when he turned to look at him…well it was…not…really what he expected, to say the last. Lukas has seen a lot of damn things in his life but…wow. His first thought? 'Who the fuck spiked my coffee?'
However, the…thing was later distracted by a solid blast in the face with a fire extinguisher. He immediately took this as an opportunity to make a beeline for the stairs. He stopped at the bottom - see now, he should get paid more, he was damn dedicated, guarding the stairs while Rayna went up to get Markoff to make sure he didn't come down that way. He was going to demand a bonus. As much as he wanted to remain calm, just as he always did in…well, everything, some part of him in the back of his mind kept repeating the same thing over and over - 'What the hell is that, what the hell is that, what the hell is that…' and more importantly, and standing out slightly more '…Is it possible to kill it?' Now that, my friends, was a damn good question. He didn't know how well stabbing a man would go over in public, though…even if he was turned into…into…something.
Lukas slid the handle of the switchblade down to hold it in his palm carefully, keeping his palm facing where it was hard to see, but ready for as soon as that thing so much as moved wrong. "If there was ever a time to make this a rush job, now would be that time." Everyone else? Panicking. Lukas Madeleine? Fuck that shit the number one time he needed a clear head was now. Panicking did not help.

Post by THEODORE ARYES on Sept 12, 2012 18:45:33 GMT -8

With a groan, he removed his glasses from his face to make sure that there was no significant damage to either his face or his lenses. His glasses were, thankfully, unbroken which was a godsend because it meant two things: first off, he would not need to spend money he didn’t have on new lenses, and secondly, if his glasses could survive the impact then so could his face. There was no doubt that there would be some swelling but at the very least nothing was broken. God forbid he walk into work with a giant bruise or cast on his face. His manager would have his neck for it then send him home without pay. Disneyland did have an image to uphold after all.
Now that he thought about it, he really should have expected something like this. California was infamous for its earthquakes. Theodore grabbed the golden colored handle on the door and helped himself up. Perhaps he should be more careful lest something of a similar nature happen in the future. Earthquakes were a new experience for him and he was not entirely sure what to expect. Of course, earthquakes were the least of his worries at the moment. The sounds of pained screaming filled the air. Anyone screaming would have been cause for concern, but Theodore could hear a multitude of people screaming. There was no way for him to tell exactly how many but he was sure that the voice of a young child could be heard in the mix. Shit, I forgot about the kid.
Theodore turned around quickly. His eyes searched for the child through the confusion. He spotted the little blond boy in the same area he was before. Except now he was hiding in a corner of the elevator with his hands over his years. A large man had pushed the doors of the elevator open and seemed to be nodding to the child. Poor kid thought Theodore. He must be terrified. As long as he’s unharmed…
With the kid safe, Theodore finally thought to scan the rest of the room and immediately wished that he hadn’t. The screaming had stopped but that barely registered in his mind as he stared at the man at the desk. Theodore did not pay very close attention to the man when he first entered the building but he was relatively sure that he did not have a large mechanical device protruding from his eye. This is a joke right? What, are they making a movie or something? But one look around him told him otherwise. There were several other people in the lobby, and from what he could tell, everyone else was just as terrified of it as he was. The thing then turned. Theodore followed the its line of sight and realized that it was looking directly at the man and the child.
Theodore froze. The situation was extremely dangerous and he did not know what to do. No, he knew exactly what he intended to do. He wanted to run. Every nerve in his body wanted to leave and never return. He was a coward; he realized that, however he wanted to live. At only twenty five, he refused to dies without being able to experience the joys of life. But the child… There was no way he could leave a defenseless child. He could never live with himself again if he did.
So he stood there, mind reeling as he contemplated his next move. His mind working quickly as the adrenaline coursed through his body. But others were faster than he was. The orange haired man near the child had somehow grabbed hold of a fire extinguisher while someone next to him threw an empty pot at the creature. If there was ever a time to move, it would be now. Willing himself to do the right thing, Theodore stayed close to the wall and inched his way towards the child. He was only a few feet away from the doors when he hesitated, his brain conjuring alternatives and second thoughts. Theodore hated himself for thinking this but all that he could think of was: save the child or save yourself? Rayna fell on her ass when she had taken a step and was met with the shaking of the whole building. A earthquake? See now this was why Rayna had been upset about moving away from New York. Not only did she lose her love of New York hotdogs but now she had to deal with earthquakes. To make things even better she had dropped her half full cup of coffee. Well there went her $6.50, at least everything else was intact. She would have been a very angry women if she had broken a heal during the shake. In her ear she heard Lukas ask if she was alright, of course he had the balls to thing that she would allow herself to get injured.
"I'm fine, but Markoff owes me $6.50 for my coffee." There was slim chance she was going to ever let that go. If it wasn't for Markoff she would be relaxing back at home. Yet the guy had to be stupid and cross the families, now she was here dealing with what was starting to feel like a bad day. To top everything off the screaming of the people in the building was getting on her nerves quickly. She was away from the main lobby and was unaware of the danger. Back on her feet with suitcase in hand she met Lukas half way. It never crossed her mind to ask why he felt that he would need her knife.
With a smile she reached slowly between her breast and pulled out the small blade. She lifted it to her lips and gave it a quick subtle kiss before she placed in his hand. She listened to his instructions and smiled. She was told not to kill the guy, but that did not mean she couldn't threaten to kill him. Well at least things were looking up, except for the fact that there was still a fair amount of screaming and people running. Oh well, it wasn't any of her problem. She moved quickly and made it around the corner to the elevators, but stopped suddenly when she noticed what was happening. A man.. with something like clockwork over his eye. Two men, who seemed to be unaffected moved to attack the man. This was all fine and dandy with her, let them fight the thing while she pulled out the big guns and get Markoff.
She hustled to the only open elevator door, pushing pass a man(Theo) who looked like he was going to hug the wall at any moment. She had no hesitation as she moved into the elevator. She only noticed the little boy once she was inside. What was a child doing all by himself while all this chaos was going on? Rayna did not have time to ask herself as she hear another pain filled scream. This one sounded close.. the stairs. Rayna had a feeling that her partner might be in the path of danger. She spoke into her earpiece. "Lukas damn it, that scream was from your direction, be careful." She bent to one knee and opened the suitcase she had been dragging around this whole time.
She glanced over at the child as she heard the extinguisher go off and the sound of broken pottery. Looking at the kid she felt the need to help him... yet she wanted nothing to do with him all at the same time. "Shhh.. Sweetheart quiet yourself, and listen. Scary things are happening and you need to be a big boy and stay quiet so the bad.. things don't get attracted to us. Can you do that?" While she spoke, in the nicest tone she could muster, she had not only pulled out her gun but also put the four main pieces together in record time. There was no way in hell she was going to do anything else without a gun in her hands. She looked into the case and cursed. Should she use live ammo or anesthetic rounds. She had brought both, just in case she wasn't allowed to kill Markoff.
That thing out there was human, but also not.. the time it took to switch ammo was enough to decide life or death. She cursed herself for caring about the safety of the people around her. She just couldn't get in trouble for killing anyone today. She popped in the anesthetic rounds and placed the live ammo safely between her breast where her switchblade once was. She braced her back against the wall and kept her gun ready. All she wanted was to hear Lukas tell her that everything was fine. Markoff was not something she cared enough to worry about right now.

Hands still covering his ears, he could physically feel the emotions around him, the taste of panic and bad things could be felt. He started to tear up as he stared towards the grown ups who kept passing the elevator. His large blue eyes watering as he could tell things were very very bad. He didn't really listen to a word that was said to him, most people poked their heads in and then carried on with their own business. It was when a women entered the elevator that Tobias perked up.
He didn't really take in a word she said but his hands slowly started to drop to his sides. He cocked his head to the side as she put together her... gun. Tobias' eyes widened as he saw the gun. He had never seen one so close and never on such a young looking old person. Tobias made a small squeaking sound before the elevator doors closed by their own accord. Tobias didn't like this one bit. He could feel the elevator slowly start to rise and Tobias reached out to the women in fear. He grasped her hand and in a barely audible whisper he spoke to her. "I'm scared, I want mommy." Not knowing what else to do Tobias started to cry in uncontrollable sobs. The elevator continued to rise but not before it stopped all of a sudden, the LED lights within the elevator shattered, the small pieces raining down on the two people in the elevator. They were stuck between floors in complete darkness. Tobias' sobs paused but only for a moment. He cried even harder.

The man with the cyborg eye seemed to smile. He liked a challenge. The ginger man strand toward him in bold confidence, it was stupid of the one to even consider fighting the technologically advanced him. He was the one, he knew it,he just didn't expect the one to be an idiot. The man picked up a fire extinguisher, Cyborg man rolled his eyes as he watched the foam start to spray out of the end of the extinguisher, he could see every bit of foam flying towards him as if it was in slow motion. His eyes calculated exactly how far the trajectory would take the foam and at exactly what rate the foam would reach him. He smiled, he had exactly 1.9 seconds to move out of the way.
The cyborg man wasted no time in avoiding the feeble attempt at an attack. He could feel his master supplying him with energy. He was limitless. He lunged towards the chosen one, ducking in the process avoiding foam that was currently spraying out of the nozzle. Cyborg man easily slapped the extinguisher from the man's hands, catching him by surprise. His talent of voice was gone or he would have said some witty line to intimidate him. He stood almost nose to nose with the man. He made no attempt to kill him just yet. He would have to prove himself first. It was as he was standing here that a flying pot smashed into the side of cyborg man's torso sending him to stagger backward. His eyes snapping to look at the prosecutor. With a small nod The cyborg man took a couple steps forward being bold as he analyzed the two males. The eye on his face was slowly starting to spread as time went by. His body was self adjusting, or "tuning" so to speak. His eye sight only getting better as his mind started to calculate possible actions from these two men.
--
The women could feel his heart beat, it was the same heartbeat that was quickening in anticipation. She scowled slightly, his heartbeat was like any other mortals. The chosen would be handled by her brethren. She didn't have to turn to know the closest person was rather close to her. Without waiting another heartbeat she slowly started to walk towards the man, she could see him from where she was. Her walk was very deliberate, she seemed very human, her ears the only sign of her upgrades and mutations. Her mutation was slowly starting to spread across her face, constantly upgrading her sense of hearing. It would only be a matter of time until she upgraded to something more fun.
She saw the man, she knew he could see her as well but it she knew her aura radiated confidence. Just from the fact this mans heartbeat was still calm amidst the confusion she knew he was not knew to the scene. He would be a fun challenge for her. She stopped walking and seemed to smile at him before she started to run. She had the capacity to move twice the speed of a normal person, which means she would easily caught him off guard if things went according to plan. She sent an upward punch with the strength of twice the average human. If she had timed it correctly it would land in his mortal stomach. He was seasoned on the battle field so she didn't know what would happen. Mind you it was half of the fun.
--
The women behind the desk had been too petrified to move before. She had watched her co worker morph into this horrible being. As she was slowly coming to her senses she let out a scream of agony. She clutched her mouth as she could feel the insides of her own body being manipulated with power. It was over as fast as it had begun. She slowly straightened up, her lips a metallic colour;clearly also adapted mechanically. She licked her lips slowly, gears were visible on her now silvery tongue. She could taste every person in the room just by tasting the air. She could tell things about them she never would have known. There was a man who wanted to flee but could not decide what to do. There was the one that seemed to be on a confidence boost even when his body was fighting against it. There was a women who smelled of spilt coffee. She was no longer in the lobby but she was here for a reason. The women bit the air in an odd motion, her teeth meeting nothing but her own teeth. She would devour them all. She stood behind the desk as she scanned the scene before her. Her cohort was close by eyeing down the one and some sad excuse of a victim. This would be fun, even if there was a bunch of fire extinguisher foam all around the table. She could tell based on how the air tasted that the fire extinguisher had landed a couple feet away from her current cohort.

Lucas' jaw dropped at the creature deftly avoided the foam spray. It was certainly not a good thing at this point, especially considering the fact that it so easily slapped the fire extinguisher out of his hands. It was still getting closer, and it looked as if it was gloating... mocking him. The bastard! Just as the big red head was about to ready his fist to punch, there was a sharp CRASH!! as what appeared to be an empty potted plant slammed into the monster.
Lucas wasted no time in moving away from the creature, towards the man who had thrown the pot. “Thanks, Good plan.” He said, nodding at the guy. He felt better knowing he had someone else on his side, but he knew he would not be taking orders today. He had to think of something, and fast. He stared at the monster, and that... eye. It was spreading! Ever so slowly it was spreading. If only there was a way they could stop it... and get it off the man.
He was about to relay his idea for trying to remove the mechanical parts from the mans face as if it was a mask when he heard another scream, and looked at the desk. A woman had doubled over in pain suddenly, and was slowly standing up. Her lips a silvery colour. Oh no, not another one. “What the hell are these things!?” Lucas shouted, hoping someone knew the answer and could offer advice. Sure he wasn't taking orders, but he knew he wasn't the brightest bulb. “We need to capture these things... get them help. Maybe it can be reversed.” He said, partially to himself, partially to anyone listening. He was still a little busy staring at the Man with the eye and the lips lady.

That hadn't worked well at all. William froze up as the mutant turned his attention on him. Not well indeed. He took a few steps back in fear as the cyborg took a few steps towards him, trying to maintain a certain amount of distance between them. Throwing a pot, what a horrible idea. He hadn't even hit anywhere near the intended target!
Glancing at the man who had been the target and who was now standing next to him, Billy simply nodded but remained silent. Words wouldn't do him much good now anyway. What he needed was a plan to kill this monster. An eyebrow raised at the man's quiet mutterings. Did he really think these things could be cured? He played enough video games to see where this was going. Transformed humans rarely, if ever, got turned back. And it was usually safer for your party and the civilians if you killed it anyway.
Video games. Another idea flashed through Billy's mind. That could work too, if he could get the mutant in the right place. His eyes widened as he noticed another employee, this time a woman, had turned as well. Alright, he'd need to get both of them into the right spot. Which meant it would probably only work on one of them. Ducking behind the man whose body easily his him, he pulled out two of his portable game systems. He's kill himself later for this, he thought as he pried off the backs of them and started messing with the wires inside. He just also hoped the guy he was currently hiding behind could take a hint and keep them distracted for a moment. He heard a scream, and then a voice in his ear stating the obvious and warning him of it. "Your concern is touching, really. I'd equally advise you not to break a heel." he shot back in a bored tone, becoming increasingly less concerned about how loudly he spoke as the seconds ticked by. The redhead rolled his shoulders lazily, deciding the time for discretion was over. He flicked the button on the switchblade and held the knife aloft, and just as he did he spotted the other one - a woman this time - who seemed to be focused on him. Oh, joy. The best he could do at the moment, however, was watch her - and hope something else got her attention.
His mind kept saying 'What the hell is going on' but his face merely smirked. He supposed he should have been more aware to the unnatural sensation of assurance he had (well…more than normal), but he was a little too busy attempting to keep track of…well, everything. He wanted to keep track of all these things at once, because to do otherwise was just stupid. This, however, did put him at risk from the one that had singled him out. He was going to have to prioritize quickly, though - as much as he wanted to keep an eye on the other things, to ensure they didn't head towards him or towards the elevator, he had bigger fish to fry at the moment. After all he was no use to himself or Rayna knocked out or…dead.
'Gonna have to secure the lobby. Would be my luck Rayna got Markoff and dragged his ass down here only to have him killed by one of these.' What was that he was thinking earlier about easy jobs? Pft. It was in that very second, that very thought, that he was suddenly lunged at. He reacted fast - faster than he thought he even could - as soon as he saw the blow coming. He avoided the brunt of the impact, but it didn't miss him entirely. The woman caught his side, right above his hip, and Lukas grunt his teeth, a grunt escaping his lips despite his effort to smother it. An abrupt, acute pain blossomed quickly where the hit had landed, and it was enough to knock the wind out of him for a moment.
He staggered back a few steps, taken aback by the force that was behind the hit. 'That definitely wasn't her natural strength that's for sure.' Hey, he had to make himself feel a little better about just getting knocked back by an office worker chick. As soon as he recovered his balance a few seconds later, he retaliated - spun on his heel and attempted to set himself in a better spot on the field, one where he had an advantage. Situated more to the woman's left side now, he immediately lashed out with the hand that held the switchblade, aiming as obviously as he could towards her - while, at the same time, kicking his foot out and towards her knee, hoping to bring her to the ground - which would give him a much better advantage to say the least.
He heard a shout while doing this, one that was stating…well, asking, the obvious - presumably coming one of the other victims. "I'll be sure to share with the class if I figure it out." he called across the room in response. He sure as hell wished he knew the answer…it would certainly help.

[atrb=width,500px][atrb=border,0px,true][atrb=vAlign,top][STYLE=border-right: 120px solid #4a4d5a; text-align: justify; padding: 0px 10px 20px 0px;font-size: 10px] Theodore watched as the elevator doors closed trapping the boy and the woman within it. With the boy safe (and he used the term safe loosely in this chaos) Theodore was could now focus on the scene in front of him and keeping himself alive and out of harm’s way.
It is evident now that the large, ginger haired man was the creature’s intended target. The ginger had made an attempt to subdue the creature by spraying it with the fire extinguisher but it simply stepped just out of the range of the foam at inhuman speeds. The humanoid creature slapped the extinguisher out of the man’s hands and was taunting him now with a cruel smile. Theodore might have thought that the creature was unbeatable had the pot not hit it a second later. With this Theodore felt something like hope, perhaps they may get out alive after all.
But then another scream of pain could be heard. Theodore stared in terror as the woman sitting next to the man at the desk doubled over in pain. When the screaming stopped, the woman sat up again as if nothing had happened. Except now her lips were a shiny metallic color. The woman too had transformed into something inhuman. Horrified, Theodore’s previous feeling of hope dissipated. Who would transform next? As of that moment it seemed that no one was paying attention to him, not even the humanoid creatures. The two at the desk were busy with the orange haired man and the teenager that was currently pulling electronics out of his pockets. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see the man with obnoxiously bright red hair fighting another one of them.
Theodore’s mind raced. There is no way we’ll be able to fight them. We’re all going to get killed. He needed to get help, run for his life, do something. Anything was better than staying where he was like a sitting duck. But how could he run away while there were other humans still here. It was then that he noticed the security cameras jutting out from the ceiling. Of course! The security office should be near. He could get help and security officers had guns and could help, right? But more importantly, if he went to find the security officer he could run out a back door while he was at it. He would live and his conscience would be settled.
Plan in mind, Theodore ran. He ran for dear life down the nearest hallway. And by fate, god, or some sort of good luck, Theodore was able to follow the corridor until then end where he saw a door labeled with the word SECURITY in black. Quickly, he went inside only to see no one at the desk. In fact the entire office was empty of people. They were doomed. They were all going to die horrible painful deaths and-
In a glass case on the wall Theodore spotted something and if he was correct, they may actually have a chance. Theodore stumbled past the desk and inspected the contents of the glass case. And indeed, on the shelf were two tasers. Theodore tried pulling the cabinet door but as expected it would not budge. In a moment of desperation and adrenaline, Theodore forwent all of his mother’s teachings, spun around, grabbed the metal chair behind him and tossed it against the glass case, cracking the glass. Another toss and the glass shattered. Theodore reached through the opening and grabbed the tasers, ignoring the danger of the shattered glass around him.
Theodore ran back out into the hallway. Being a dead end, he had no choice but to run back to the lobby where the main door and the creatures were. When he made it back to the main lobby, Theodore realized: Who to trust with the tasers? At least this was what she hoped, after all she needed to get that lawyer before he caught wind that there was any danger. She stayed still, and with her back to the wall she felt the elevator move. That was when the child she was stuck with freaked out and grabbed onto her hand. This bothered the woman to no end, what if the doors opened and she needed to shoot something? She needed two hands to steady her gun after all.
The kid wanted his mother, well boo-hoo, Rayna wanted a shot of tequila, but that didn't mean either of them were going to get what they wanted. Just when she was about to say something the elevator stopped and she heard the lights hiss, right before they popped. Her reaction was to cover the kid with her body and pull her hand away from him to cover the back of her head. Shards and sparks feel over them.
The shards were small and did not do any damage, but the sparks felt like small shocks. When the discomfort was over she took a step back from the kid and bent to one knee. This was why she always made sure she left the house with her phone. Strapped to her left thigh was her small, but useful cell phone. She sat her gun on the floor as she messed with the phone. Setting it to never go to sleep, it gave the only light in the elevator.
She paid no mind to the kid as she used the phone to shine light on the elevator keypad. There she pushed a few buttons..nothing. She moved onto the emergency phone.. again nothing. There was even a point where she held the phone with her mouth and pulled the elevator doors apart, just to see that they were stuck between floors. Even the above hatch was locked, and without shooting it, she would not be able to get it open. This is why Rayna liked doing jobs where she just had to shoot people, made life so much easier. She tried contacting Lukas, no answer.. Either the bastard was dead or having a hell of a time without her.
She turned to the kid and spoke as she forcefully handed him her phone. "here hold this." She placed her back to the wall and picked her gun back up. Messing with it for a moment she turned on the tactical light. It was no better then the phone, but at least they had some more light. Rayna would be sure to take the stairs from now on. "Listen kid, I don't know how to break it to you, but the elevator is stuck. So we are going to sit here and wait for help, ok?"

Tobias gritted his teeth, the darkness making him yelp in surprise. The woman leapt to save him, covering his body from the glass that seemed to shimmer in the darkness around them. As she seemed to inspect the elevator Tobias meekly stood in the corner of the elevator in pure shock and gratitude. He wouldn't get in her way. Sure he was a little boy but he knew when he had to make a grown up decision. He held onto the woman's phone. They were in between floors, the open elevator door showed the cement and the wiring in the elevator shaft. He was going to have be a big kid. He nodded to the woman, they would wait for help. Help would come. His blonde curls bobbed as he nodded.
It was in this moment that Tobias heard the metallic clang coming from the top of the elevator. It started with a loud thud, like someone had just landed on top from the elevator shaft. After the first initial clang there was some clanging on top of the elevator, it was pacing. Tobias slowly looked up as he listened to the pacing. Tobias bit his lower lip, he was going to die. He knew he was.
-- The mutant smiled as it paced atop the elevator. It had been the first mutant to change, it could no longer remember who he was. He merely remembered he was once a weak human, he had evolved from that once weak being. He was now a mutant, he could feel his masters power as the metal continued to engulf his body. Both of his hands were covered with metallic gears, they covered his whole hand to about his elbows. He placed his right hand atop the elevator, he could feel the general shapes of both people within the metal box. The woman was oddly calm, she would be his biggest threat. Even then he would come out victorious.
He brought his right arm back from the box and slammed his hand against the box, the metallic boom that resulted was almost deafening. He had dented the metal. The trap door atop the elevator would be relatively easy to peel off but he found this more entertaining. He allowed his fingernails to dig into the hard metal, he could feel the metal giving into his superiority. He pulled his arm back once more and slammed down with all his might. The metal gave way to his power as he felt his arm go straight through the metal this time. He wasted no time in using both his hands to grip the hole he created and slowly started to peel back the metal. His strength was only getting stronger as time went onward. He would annihilate this human since she was somehow resistant to the mutation, her immune system was resistant somehow to the mutation. Her genetic material was superior to that of the average human.... but why? He wasted no more time in prying open the top of the elevator with one last pull. It was too dark to really see anything but she somehow had some kind of light source. He sighed slightly as he leapt down from the top of the elevator to stand in the middle with a large clang. "You think you are superior to the mutation?"His voice was accusing, there was no doubt about that. The fact that he was in a position that would allow him to move if he had to in a moments notice. She may be genetically better but he was physically stronger and faster.

MUTANTS | [cs=3][atrb=valign,top][atrb=style,width: 450px; text-align: center; padding-left: 25px; padding-right: 25px;]
Cyborg man grimaced as he was tired of mocking his pray now. He took another step closer, unfazed at the woman who had screamed next to him. She was mutated just like they would all be soon. He took another step towards the red haired man. His eyes scanned him over once more. Cyborg man would win this battle easily. He may have been a little bit over confident but given the situation it was more than justified. Cyborg man squinted ever so slightly before his right arm snapped backward and fired a punch at the man before him. He had lobbed the punch with no real warning. He hoped that the man was strong enough to take a punch or else he might shatter a couple bones if he landed his punch right. He could feel his power getting stronger over time. --
The metal eared woman smiled slightly as her punch collided with the man. His heartbeat sped up faster, even fi he displayed the traits of being unaffected she knew he was rattled. His heart didn't lie as it sputtered in pain. She was satisfied how this was starting, she knew she would win, her arrogance apparent as she giggled slightly. He spun away from her to be situated more to her left. So he had fought before. So what, more fun for her.
It was when he pulled a metal blade out of no where while he lunged at her seemed to take her back. How ballsy of him to fight someone as superior as she. She saw his leg coming for her knee camp and easily side stepped it, but in the process her left arm caught with the blade. She wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't for the searing pain. It was only for about a second. She looked down at her arm to see her flesh seemed untouched. Her master had repaired her in a blink of an eye. She smiled valiantly before looking at the red haired man. His switchblade curved at an awkward angle, clearly broken from the impact. "How dare you." It was all she could say before she ran at him, attempting to body check him into the wall. If he was winded before she would make sure he choked on his own lungs. She was furious but her smile seemed to stay on her face as she attempted to ram him into the wall.
--
The metal mouthed woman stood by the desk, licking her lips in pleasure. They all tasted so delectable. She brought a finger up to her lips and licked it seductively. She could taste everything she had come into contact with, the sensation was overwhelming. She looked at the ginger man before her. He seemed like a sad excuse for the one. honestly, how could he ever have a link to the past. She rolled her eyes slightly before jumping up from her current position. She seemed to twirl slightly in the air as she arced high above the sad excuse for a battle. She landed in a crouch behind the ginger man, a small teenage boy playing with some wiring was tempering away behind him. The ground around her feet was cracked inward from her impact. She turned her attention to the teenage boy who was fiddling with his gadgets. "Why don't you come play with me like a big boy?" she asked in a tone that didn't not imply what she meant by play. She slowly stood and seemed to seductively strut to some unheard beat.
The woman licked her lips once more, enjoying the taste of chaos all around them. She stomped her foot about centimetres away from one of his legs, the cement cracking on impact. "Oops, I missed." Her tone was anything but apologetic. She picked up her other foot and started to bring it down where his leg was. She would see if he would move in time or be crushed. | [cs=3][atrb=valign,top][atrb=style,width: 500px; height: 35px;] |
