They say that at the very moment of death one can see their entire life folding out before them. Jesus does not get this small comfort in his demise. Instead he gets a moment of awe at a small fiery bird screeching at him. He blinks at it, inwardly amazed that the impossible had in fact become possible in front of his eyes. He's read enough sanitized fairy tales to his students that he knows magic when he sees it. Time slows for him, a heartbeat stretched in infinite, just so he can marvel at this bird in front of him. Tiny and perfect, adorable and yet magical all at the same time. This is how Jesus will remember this moment: a bright flash of light and a screech that was more unsettling than anything else. His hand lifts, raises as if to invite the bird to perch on his outstretched fingers.
Our Father, Who Art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name;
Pain. Heat. Light. Searing heat that starts at the small of his back and stretches in a corona of bright light across his arm. He falls to his knees as the fire catches, lights up his coat (oh Mama why did you have to insist on this) and the feathers ignite. For one breathless moment he can feel the air at his face warm to an uncomfortable level before the agony begins anew. He screams, bellows with a near bestial level of rage and hate and suffering. Jesus does not think about how this isn't fair, how this wasn't supposed to end like this. His shirt serves as nothing but fuel and his skin cracks as his flesh burns. Instead he thinks of pain and regret, each one eating at him until he can feel nothing but torment.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
He regrets never telling his Mama how much she means-meant to him. She was his rock and his foundation, the reason he woke up in the morning and tried so hard. He regrets never telling his step-brother that he loved him, never telling him that Lucius was the sun and he was nothing but a moon to shine from his greatness. Oh Lucius, why could he never had said 'I love you' without being drunk first? Why could he remember nothing but the way Lucius smirked when he was particularly clever? Would Lucius cry at his funeral, hold Mama while she bawled? Jesus prays in his heart that Lucius will take care of Mama the way that bastard never could, to be the son she deserved instead of the one she had lost.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
He regrets never being able to wish his students a happy birthday, or give them candy and a smile when they cried. For Amy, he regrets that he never punched out her father when he deserved it. Dear Melody, he regrets that he'll never brush her hair after recess again. Little Leonardo, that he'll never be able to show him da Vinci and tell him that he'll be a great man. He regrets that he won't be able to tell the twins how he can tell them apart (John always leaves his left shoe untied and Jack always rubs his right ear). Jesus regrets that he won't be able to show Emily and Rory the stars. He regrets that he leaves his children in the care of Mrs. Hudson, for he deeply regrets that she won't be able to retire as she should. But most of all he regrets that he won't be there to take care of his children, to wipe their tears and sing them songs of home when they are sad, to be their defender when no one else dares to speak.
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
Jesus burns, knees on the ground and hand ever reaching for something he can't have. His skin chars and flakes off into ash, the fat and muscle serving as wick and candle once the linen and silk flies off into the night. Tears will not come, as his face is burnt and his eyes long gone. But still he kneels, one hand locked forever into a fist and the other still trying to catch that damn bird. He can see fire and a bird in the darkness, his Abuela kneeling at his side as she prays with him one last time. His voice is gone, immolated away by tiny specks of fiery feathers and ashes, but still he croaks out into the night. He cannot defend these people, these motley souls he had come to like over the course of the last night of his life.
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
He regrets that he leaves these few acquaintances with such a poor impression. Regrets that he never asked the knight if he wanted to have sex and never acted upon it. He regrets that the mermaid has probably lost her contest, and the poor princess has to watch him die like this. He regrets that the girl must carry the shield for them now, the aloof and quiet girl who is doomed to carry his cross. This is not how he wanted to die, but his skin has gone to the point where he cannot feel the flames that still lick across his skin. “R-run,” he manages to speak but it is not enough to convey his thought. Run. Run you bastards before the birds find you. Leave me here to die and save yourselves. But he cannot say it, not as his throat closes up and blood bubbles out of his mouth to dry in the flames. “G-go... s-sorry....” He regrets.
Amen.
Jesus does not fall when he dies, bones locked together by muscles that will never work again.
He dies quietly in the flames he had admired.
Jesus dies. WORDS 1000 TAGS Event Stage 6 NOTES Jesus died for your sins. LAIKA OF GS!

Beam me up and don't look down
There were many things that a person could go through. Life was a bitch and it threw curve balls everywhere, but there were some curve balls that were impossible to duck. There were things that weren't meant to be seen by human beings. Soldiers went through it every day, and people often questioned why they could possibly have issues. The snuffing out of a life was something that Yana wished on no one - especially in this way.
The fiery birds descended on their group as people shouted and screamed, and Yana ducked as birds started to fly at them. She moved out of the way and very nearly hiked up her dress to get her gun until she realized that shooting at a bunch of birds with bullets probably wasn't going to do much.
Something burning made her look up and in horror she saw Jesus, his whole body covered in flames, as he went to his knees, and then to the ground. For a moment she watched the with most horrified expression until she covered her mouth. Something gurgled like a scream as she panicked. Something in her brain clicked off and the bravery she so desperately needed vanished as a new friend went up in flames. She couldn't even get his name out, and she nearly heaved, that's how fast she had begun to breathe and then hyperventilate.
She moved backwards until she saw something on fire at her feet. Looking away, screams filling the air from Jesus and the people around her, was a bird. A bird on fire. And it was... shielding itself?? Shoulders heaving with her breath, Yana looked down at it for a moment. What the hell was it doing? These damns birds, the bug downstairs, they were the ones causing all of this hell!! "What the hell do these damn birds want?!"
She still couldn't look at where Jesus was - she would lose it if she did. Instead she moved to a table and grabbed a candle stick from a table that hadn't been set on fire and started watching, looking at the birds, trying to figure out what sort of pattern it was that they were doing. As she stood, the bird on the ground was somewhat shielded behind her. She melted things for heaven's sakes, she'd come to learn that heat and open flame didn't do to her what it did to Jesus. Still, she kept an eye on the bird, looking at it and up at the angry flock above them. She didn't want to give it any ideas, like hopping onto her dress. She'd rather not be pecked to death in her underwear.

She may have been trained but taking care of civilians was not in her job description. She could barely talk to them in the first place let alone guide them to safety without there being a chance of revealing information regarding the Impedio Society. Her best chance was to probably get them out somehow before knocking them out to buy her the time and opportunity to clean up and create a possible excuse for the entire mess. But before all that, she needed to figure out how to actually rescue everyone from this stupid situation.
From what Alexus could see, the birds were moving and working together in groups. She could recall from her studies and experience that Fate creatures usually had some sort of objective to them whether it be killing people or acquiring objects for Fate’s own means. The birds too probably had some sort of objective and she bet that the giant, talking insect she saw on the television screen had something to do with it. Unfortunately, there was no way to prove her theory though and surviving was much more important at the moment.
A group of birds directed their attention at their little group. One of the flaming birds aimed at Alexus’ chest. Alexus quickly dropped to the ground, able to dodge the bird save for her mask falling off and a few singed pieces of hair. Any later and the bird would have hit her which was something Alexus would like to avoid as much as possible. The young woman could only consider herself lucky that her hair did not catch on fire. It was a good thing she decided to wear pants tonight even though she stood out amongst the multitude of colorful dresses. At least she could move around easily.
She got back up to see if the others were alright only to find Jesus being consumed by flames. She did not know him but seeing another human being die before her eyes was not something she wanted to see. The smell of burned human flesh was not exactly appetizing either. Alexus put Jesus out of her mind as much as possible given the situation. He had died. That was the end. She had the living to think about.
”I don’t know,” Alexus replied in response to Yana’s question. ”There has to be a reason their attacking though. Our best option would be to flee or find some sort of cover but... There’s no way we’ll be able to fight all of them.”
The problem was, how were they supposed to escape? The staircase was burned and jumping from the roof was not a very viable option. Shit, they were trapped with no means to fight. What were they going to do?

tagged: group six. time: mar 2nd, just before midnight. notes: here we go~ outfit is the one in the table. It took only a single moment for everything to go wrong. The birds dove. One went for Alexus, two for Jesus. One went for him even, only it turned, flying away for a reason he couldn't begin to understand.
Why was it familiar? Why did everything seem like it had happened before, like he'd seen them before, like he'd faced down a flock of fiery birds before? They weren't real, couldn't be, and he was deep in denial right until the screaming started.
His head whipped around, staring in complete horror as the cape went up. He could feel the heat, even from several feet away. He'd dealt with pyrotechnics before. They'd had them in the shows, and he'd felt the heat before, and safety had always been the first concern. Anyone going anywhere near them was set up in flame retardant clothing. What Jesus was wearing would never have flown at work, and Lance was now seeing exactly why.
There was no point in even trying to save him. It was obvious from the moment he went up there would be no success. He would die. If he lived, he'd only live for a brief while, in excruciating pain, before he finally died.
He was screaming though, and Lance couldn't drag his eyes away. He could only stare at the carnage, watching him burn. There was no water, no way to put him out of his misery. It was a relief when he died, because it meant he wasn't in pain, and it let Lance finally drag his eyes away.
What could he even do? What options did he even have, with the three of them there and everyone else with birds between them?
What did he know? He had to start with that. They weren't real phoenixes. There was only supposed to be one. But something like it. What were their weaknesses? They regenerated from wounds, were resistant to fire... he wasn't even sure a bucket of water would kill them, considering they appeared to relight themselves.
"Someone sing!" He blurted out, stepping between the majority of the birds and the girls. They'd have to go through him, first.
There was nowhere to run.

The bird did not notice or care about the pain they caused, or the lives they had ended. These birds had only one goal and one goal only, but they just could not find it. Was what they were searching for not here? or just well hidden? They did not know but the flock were not about to just give up and leave. They were fueled by strange anger and only knew that out of anger they were meant to attack and defend themselves. Normally such tame creatures they were losing themselves to this blind rage, so blind that they missed noticing something, something very important.
A small sphere like object, the size of a Gaelic handball rolled out of an unknown ball and fell to rest in the middle of the chaos. The sphere was clear like glass, but in the center was a small blue flame. The sphere was left unattended and helpless.
The three birds that had attacked the small group left to rejoin the group, giving the humans a short break. This time a new group did not come down, no not with him and her there. Instead they started to plan something, and as they planned the whole flock moved as one, flying in a large circle around the roof, wait... were they creating a fire circle? At least that what it looked like, as the flock moved they created a ring of fire around the area of the roof. Jumping was no longer an option without the chance of jumping into one of the birds while they were on fire.
TRIGGER - Lance Bishop
The wall of flame that was slowly growing would trigger a brief memory, or feeling of deja vu within Lance. The sound of a whip cracking would be the most memorable part. The sound was strong, as if right next to his ears, loud, sharp.. and metal? The sound was not the crack that a leather whip would make, but more metal. Shouts of commands, someone, a man calling out. The sound of a whip following each command, and then it faded.
Note: The fire these birds create is not natural, no smoke is created, it just burns like a normal fire. Starting out warm when first started and raising in temperature the longer they hold their flame. Reaching about 1400 °C (the highest a candle can normally burn.)

tagged: group six. time: mar 2nd, just before midnight. notes: here we go~ outfit is the one in the table. It seemed like no one was going to sing, and after a moments thought, Lance decided it was a stupid idea anyway. They obviously weren't real phoenixes. They might look like them, but there were important differences. For one, there was only supposed to be one phoenix. For another, they were the wrong size and shape, and didn't look at all like what a phoenix was supposed to look like. If the myths had gotten that stuff wrong, what was the chance they'd be right about something like singing, which wasn't even consistent through all the legends? Sure, it worked on some... but those were few and far between.
He formulated a plan even as he ran, starting off across the roof towards the telescopes. There was a little shelter there, and while had no illusions about it holding up to a fire, it would provide at least a temporary reprieve--any birds would have to come for them from the sides, not above, which was going to be their big weakness. It didn't seem as if they were going to go straight for them though--instead they were making a wall of fire around the edges, preventing any jumps.
The deja vu came again, but more specific. It wasn't just the creatures--he was hearing things, a whipcrack. He was familiar with whips, had used them before, but the sound was different, all wrong. More metal, and even more alien. A metal whip? Was he going completely crazy?
Was he having an honest to god break from reality? Because he really wouldn't have doubted it for a moment. He could still smell the flesh, was letting it spur him onward as he sprinted across the roof. He didn't want to see it anymore, didn't want to smell it.
He couldn't let himself be distracted. He had to focus. He couldn't let his mind wander, and he was so intent he nearly missed it--a ball, a random orb lying on the ground. Really, if it had been anything else he'd likely have disregarded it, but it was obvious it was something. For gods sake, it had a blue flame in the center, and he bent as he ran, snatching it off the ground as he made for the shelter. "Someone look for a hose!" He yelled, making right for the edges of the structure, where the ropes used to hold it up would be. He'd need them--they were his best chance, and he started to untie them as quickly as possible.

The birds were keeping their distance, deciding that these people needed to be handled differently. One was a worry, they could sense it, this person had a connection to the past, to their homeland. Would their fire even affect this person? Maybe but the chances were highly unlikely. Still they needed to work as a team, otherwise there was a chance they would fall divided. The orb, which had been so calm a few seconds ago was now reacting to the person that had picked it up. The flame started to change, the blue started to grow, reds and yellows could be seen as the flames sparked with life. (Even though it is on fire, the orb causes no pain, only a slight feeling of warmth) After spending some time in the hands if the brave knight, the orb started to change color, as if it did not know what color fire was meant to be. A sound of hissing started to be heard and then a black fire was born from the center and spread out to the outer rim of the orb. The orb started to pulsate, a raw power had been awaken inside it. A small shock wave escaped from the orb and dispelled the wall of fire, the small birds fell as they lost flight. Some fell onto the roof by gliding, others were not so lucky and hit the ground below with a soft thump. Their numbers were cut down, but there were still many of the birds left to do what they had came to do. Some, still on the floor of the roof, set themselves back on fire after recovering from the shock of being knocked out of the sky. For the moment these birds were more distracted with recovering from the shock then to pay attention to the humans. The orb became strangely quiet, but the dark flame was still moving inside as lively as ever.

Beam me up and don't look down
Yana was moving before she even knew it. Lance slid in front of them and blurted out for them to sing. "Sing?" Her tone was disbelieving as she looked at the amount of panicking people and then the birds. "What, show tunes? I don't know any show tunes at this moment." Yana had no idea what Lance was thinking of, but apparently he thought better of it and started moving for the shelter.
Good plan, shelter was always better. She turned and nearly stumbled upon the bird that was terrified of her at her feet. She paused, candlestick in her hand, as she looked down at it. For one brief moment, she felt something - anger and rage, telling her to knock that bird flat out with the long candlestick in her hand. She could swing and shoot it straight off of the roof, punishment for taking so many lives. The foreign sensation made her let out a shaky breath as Lance yelled at them to grab hoses and shelter. "Mercy." It was muttered, but she bypassed the bird and ran to the shelter.
The first thing she did was drop the candlestick and hike her dress up, tying the pretty floating layers into a tight knot above her knees. Now she could run, and there wouldn't be trailing bits of dress to light on fire. She pulled her mask off and tossed it so she could have her full range of vision. Yana spotted the watering hose cleverly decorated against the side wall so it didn't look too obvious. "Water hose on the wall by glass windows by the stair case," She called out. The tent held a lot of different things - for one, there were horderves and utensils - serving knives, spoons, and forks, along with pretty china plates. The sides of the tent though, that's what she was most interested in.
She ran for one corner when she felt something shock through the air and she immediately looked up. "The birds are falling!" The ring of fire around the building was gone as several birds hit the deck. She looked around and spotted Lance with a swirling ball of fire in his hands. That was it. That's what the birds were after. That's what they were looking for - the ball of fire. "Lance! They're after that ball!" She threw the rope coil she'd dismantled over to Lance's feet, going to the next tent stake and quickly bending with her back to the inside of the tent. The metal poles stood their ground as the birds started to shake it off and relight themselves. "Looks like round two's about to get started guys - if you've got the water, douse yourselves in it. We don't need a second person going up in flames." She tossed the second coil of rope to Lance.
This was like Alfred Hitchcock's movie, The Birds. The birds were attacking, looking for something specific. It made sense, now that she thought about it. Why else would they even be here? Wild animals didn't normally attack people unless they were threatened or their young -- wait. There was no way that that ball was an egg. It looked more like a heart of fire as she moved by the food. The sterling silver toppers - that'd make a nice little shield. She absently grabbed one by it's pretty handle as she moved closer to where Alexus and Lance were.

Sing? At this moment? He was kidding, right? At any rate, Alexus was not much of a singer and surely there were other, more important things she needed to worry about other than singing.
She followed the group to the edge of the roof where the tent was set up. Alexus wasn't sure how a tent was going to protect them but Lance seemed to have an idea and anything was better than nothing. Alexus was confused when Lance yelled about a hose. She hadn't noticed one before. It wasn't until Yana shouted at them that she realized that there was indeed a hose on the roof. That certainly would have been useful before. Perhaps then there would have been far less casualties.
While Yana and Lance worked with the tent and whatever they could find under it's protective layer of plastic, Alexus ran to where the hose was. She busied herself with pulling the hose from it's hiding place and turning the water on. Thankfully the hose had a nozzle, the expensive type with multiple spray types on it. Alexus had handled these before. They were very useful when you wanted to water plants. In this case, the jet setting made a fantastic water gun. The constant stream of water pressure could be directed at the birds. Alexus was fairly confident in her aim. She could remember long hours spent training to handle guns and other sorts of weaponry if the occasion called for it. Arc trained them well, after all.
As Alexus readied herself to begin shooting at the flying, balls of feathers a sudden shockwave dispelled the fires and caused the birds to begin dropping like flies. Alexus moved out of the way to narrowly avoid getting hit by a falling bird. She wasn't sure what was going on but she sprayed the fallen bird with water a few times just in case. She wasn't willing to take the chance. Thinking about it now, the one that she had just doused might make a good creature to bring back for experimentation. She should probably see if she could collect some. She heard something about a ball that was controlling the birds but decided that she could deal with it later. The society couldn't possibly leave a situation as big unattended, could they? There had to be some sort of back up and cover up for this later. Therefore, Alexus would deal with this later.
As the other birds began to regain themselves, Alexus decided to take Yana's advice. She changed the settings to shower and sprayed all three of them with the cold water. "Sorry, just taking your advice. At least now we're somewhat protected from the flames."
Alexus moved back to where the other two were. Lance seemed to be fiddling with some ropes and Yana had gotten the idea to use the metal toppers as a shield. They now had some protection. Alexus was sure they would be fine.

tagged: group six. time: mar 2nd, just before midnight. notes: here we go~ outfit is the one in the table. The orb was definitely... definitely what? He didn't even know what it was, beyond that it was definitely something. He wanted to say 'magic', only magic wasn't real, and yet there was some kind of trippy flame thing going on in the glass orb. It had to be some kind of digital effect, because it wasn't even hot--it was just warm. If it was real fire, it should have at least been hot, shouldn't it?
At least, he was entirely convinced it was some kind of digital projection until it pulsed. The closest thing Lance could compare it to was an EMP, only the average EMP didn't put out fire and knock birds from the sky. He held onto it, keeping a firm grip even if he had absolutely no idea what it was supposed to be or do. He didn't understand anything, but the wall of fire was gone. Wasn't that a good thing?
Only the mermaid thought otherwise, apparently. If they were after it, he should be free of it--but he wasn't entirely convinced that getting rid of it was the best plan. They obviously had no care for collateral damage, and he wasn't convinced that even if they were after it, they'd actually stop attacking.
Plus, he wasn't even sure they were after it. More importantly, it seemed like a tool--it had dispelled their fire, giving them a way off. He was hesitant to get rid of it, especially considering he might very well lose the only advantage they have if they did so.
He didn't even mind the fact that he was soaked, although he did sputter a bit, holding the orb close to his body to shield it from the spray. He had no pockets, but he kept a firm hold on it as he grabbed the rope, beelining for the edge closest to them and starting to tie it off. It wasn't too far of a drop--the rope would make it doable without damage.

These young people had done well in protecting themselves, moving away, getting a source of water and even finding a way to shield themselves. The one bird that had been soaked in water by Alexus had squawked in anger. Not only had she fallen from the sky, but now she was wet. Her wings felt heavy, no longer could she fly, but she was still ready to protect herself with beak and talons.
The rest of the flock were regaining lost ground, those who had been lucky enough not to fall to their death worked on getting back into the sky and setting themselves back on fire. A pair, angry for the lost of their family and friends took it upon themselves to attack. They both went after Yana, she had been lucky once, her connections keeping them at bay. Yet that respect was long gone and she was to be burned like the rest, at least that was what the two had planed. One pecked at her silver shield, while the other flew around Yana in the tight circle, looking for an opening where it could dive in and try to burn her.
Lance was mostly left alone, no bird dared to attack him, instead they landed near by. Bright orange eyes stared at him as the remaining fire birds watched and waited. They had no leader, working together as a team, this meant that there were times where some would not agree with the whole. While most kept their distance, a few still tried to get pretty close. Setting fire to whatever they could.

Beam me up and don't look down
The cold water hit Yana's back and she jolted, turning around to see Alexis with the hose. Right, water. Shivering a little bit, she muttered a 'thank you' to Alexis. Lance kept the egg-ball safe from the water, but now they were all drenched, which was a good thing because the fire tornado was starting to pick back up again.
Two birds flew down towards Yana and she ducked as one of the birds started pecking at her shield. The silver tray lid was heavy, and it thankfully it's beak couldn't go through it. The other bird, however, was going to be a problem. "Like hell I'm going to be bullied by a bunch of birds!" It was a soft hiss under her breath as she took the tray and slammed it down on top of the bird so that the bird was trapped inside of the heavy lid.
She didn't want to hurt the damn thing, but it was getting fairly annoying having to defend herself continuously. Yana was quickly figuring out that there wasn't any way she was going to get out of this predicerment without her powers being found out. The second bird circled her dress and landed on some of the wet frills, making some head way with burning it. Yana grabbed another tray lid as she swatted at the bird on her dress. "Go ahead, light me, it's not going to do you a bit of good." Because she couldn't feel the heat. And the fire didn't burn her. Since she had hiked her dress up, the marking on her calf was now visible for all the birds to see. Ever since she had come back from the museum, weird crap had happened to her. She could melt things, she could accidentally catch things on fire, all from her touch. She'd held her hand over an open flame for a minute and it hadn't burnt her - no skin had fallen off, no bones, not even a red mark. Her hand had been absolutely cool once she'd pulled it out of the flames.
Yana had despised this power at first, had feared it would cause her nothing but pain and grief - but now? Now it was useful. Yana held up her second shield against the second bird who wanted to catch her on fire. She was actually glad that Alexis had gotten them all soaking wet - she'd gotten Lance wet, and Lance had the rope, so the rope was wet too. It made her feel a bit better that maybe, just maybe, they could get out of this alive.
Something red out of the corner of her eye made her turn for a moment and there, against the wall and under a table, was a fire extinguisher. "Alexis! Fire extinguisher behind you under the table!"

Alexus felt quite accomplished. She had succeeded in hitting quite a good number of birds. Now that they were able to defend themselves, they had a good chance of survival. Shame that one of their quartet died before they could reach this point.
Now that she thought about it, she should try to capture one or at least a few of these flaming birds. The Impedio Society would no doubt be investigating this situation. Capturing a specimen or two would probably help. These birds, despite being hit with water, recovered rather quickly. Alexus was sure that someone in the society would have some use for these creatures.
Alexus aimed and shot as many birds as she could. She needed to figure out a way to capture them. Perhaps she could trap some of them in the metal food containers. Otherwise she could always knock the bird somehow. Decisions, decisions.
Alexus heard Yana and followed her gaze toward the fire extinguisher hidden under the table. Alexus dropped the hose and grabbed the fire extinguisher. The hose was useful but a fire extinguisher was used specifically for putting out fires. It would probably be more useful against these fiery projectiles of death. The dark haired woman pulled the ring out of the fire extinguisher and directed the spray towards some of the birds still hovering in the air. Maybe that way they would pass out long enough for her to capture one of them.

tagged: group six. time: mar 2nd, just before midnight. notes: here we go~ outfit is the one in the table. The orb was a mystery that wasn't exactly revealing itself quickly. He knew that it had an effect on the birds. It had knocked them down, although how it had done so was beyond him. He couldn't be sure if the birds were after them or the orb, but if they were after the orb, he was pretty sure they shouldn't have been allowed to go anywhere near it. If it could be used against the birds, they obviously didn't want it in the wrong hands, and apparently Lance was the wrong hands.
The question was what to do with it. At the moment, taking it with him seemed like the best possible option. If they let it go, the birds would probably get it, and they'd lose their main source of defense. If he broke it... well, he had no idea what would happen then--so that was the last resort.
For the moment though, Lance wasn't worried about catching birds or anything of the sort. The birds weren't attacking him at the moment, but they might very well soon. He had to get off the roof, and he had to do it as fast as possible. It would also provide a good piece of information for him--if the birds followed him off the roof en masse, they were after either him or the orb. If they stayed, they weren't specifically going after it.
"I'm going over!" He shouted loudly, making sure both girls heard. He'd go down with the orb, make sure the rope was long enough, and then help them when he reached the bottom. He was fairly sure he was the only one with tons of rope experience. It wasn't as if it was common.
He tossed the rope over in one practiced motion, reaching up and shoving the orb down the front of his shirt. It was a tight fit that meant it wasn't going to slide out, but it was pretty uncomfortable and he was probably going to have an orb-shaped bruise just under his collarbone. He needed both hands full though, and he hopped over the side, starting to rappel down as quickly as possible, focusing on keeping his grip on the rope.
"If you happen to be a magic orb that grants wishes or something, making those birds stay away would be nice." He muttered under his breath.

While Yana and Alexus were off dealing with troubling birds Lance had been smart to grab a rope and climb his way to safety. To make things even better the man had asked the orb for help, and it was listening. The sphere had been quiet since it had pushed the birds away the first time, but now it was needed and was willing to work for the right person. Due to his request the orb pulsed and then was quiet, the response was the birds squawking and then flying away. At least the ones that could fly, there were a few that were covered in water, or on the ground dead. Still the ones left living were more calm, no longer screeching or trying to cause injury.
The birds that had been attacking Yana gave up as well and followed their flock, no longer angry. The one that had been sprayed by Alexus was still sitting on the ground, doing its best to hide it's head with it's wings in fear. Finally the birds were leaving and the fires one the roof were mostly put out or calming down on their own. The group would not have to worry about killer birds anymore, they were free to leave.
Note: Alexus is free to capture one of the down birds for the IS as long as she makes a thread with one of the leaders to file her report and hand over the bird.
Please post below your finale post and thank you for being a part of Stage 6.

Beam me up and don't look down
And just as mysteriously as they had appeared, they started to leave. The one bird she had trapped under a silver tray was banging a bit to get free, but she didn't go near it. The one trying to set her on fire was her priority. She swung the tray and it dodged before.... leaving with everyone else. "What the..." Yana paused for a moment as she looked at the disappearing birds. What had made them leave?
She wasn't about to look a gifted horse in the mouth, so she dropped her tray and started for the side of the building. Alexis was still putting birds out, but they were quickly disappearing too. Yana looked at the rope and Lance who was near the bottom and swallowed. "Just like gym class." She squeezed her eyes shut tight for a moment, debated about going down the fiery staircase, then started to move over the edge of the building. "Alexis, let's go!"
Yana held onto the rope tight and slowly inched her way down, the rope between her legs as she focused on her arms going under each other as she slowly climbed down the rope. Once she hit the ground, Yana leaned down to the pavement and kissed it, muttering a 'Bless you God' under her breath before standing up and looking at Lance. Without the orb, it seemed that the birds had lost interest. Yana didn't know what it was or what it was for, but she was just glad to be alive. "Thank you Lance," She said with heartfelt gratitude. There were some people on the lawn who looked worse for wear, but not as many as she thought there would be. Hopefully those left on the roof would follow their example and run.

Alexus took her eyes of the birds for a second, just one second, so she could see what Lance was up to. It seemed that he was making himself bait for the birds with all his shouting and waving. Alexus thought little of it except that he was putting himself in an idiotic and unnecessary position. She had a fire hydrant and Yana seemed quite capable of protecting herself at the moment. Drawing the birds away from them, while a nice thought and probably would have been more useful a while ago, was probably the stupidest thing he could have done at the moment. Especially since he was so close to the edge.
But wait. What was that that he was holding in his hand. It could have been nothing but to Alexus it looked clearly like some sort of orb. The supernatural kind, of course. Great... She was probably going to have to deal with this too. What a pain.
It was strange though. As Lance disappeared down the rope with the orb, the birds began to calm down. They no longer flew around attacking them in a frenzy but instead regrouped and began to fly off. That would never do. There were a large number of birds and some had yet to fly off yet, Alexus took her chance and sprayed those remaining birds with the fire extinguisher. She sure hoped that it did not kill them. She wanted to bring them back to be studied.
Alexus looked back at Yana but she had already disappeared down the rope as well. Alexus grabbed the table cloth off the tables under the tent. The birds at her feet were harmless after she sprayed them with water and the fire extinguisher. She placed them within the makeshift bag so that she could carry them down the rope. As long as they did not light again, she should buy enough time to place them in something more protected and less flammable.
As she climbed down the rope, she had to mutter a thank you to Arcturus for having put her through that hellish training for so many years. At least she was prepared. She would get out alive and without a scratch. If only she didn't have so much paperwork awaiting her afterwards, Eck.

tagged: group six. time: mar 2nd, just before midnight. notes: here we go~ outfit is the one in the table. It had worked. How the hell had it managed to work? He'd fucking asked a glowing orb to help him and it had. It had gotten rid of the birds, and while there were a lot of pressing questions, there didn't seem to be any more immediate danger. Where had the orb come from? Who had it before? Were they dead? Why had the birds attacked?
Perhaps most importantly of all... was any of it actually happening? Had he been drugged or had he lost his goddamn mind? Everything seemed to lean that way. He'd lost his goddamn mind and he was hallucinating a bunch of stuff that didn't even make any sense. Maybe there had been fire, and Jesus's death had driven him over the edge. He couldn't begin to figure it out.
He did have things to deal with though--he was going to need to help the girls down, making sure they got a soft a landing as possible.
He reached into his shirt, pulling out the orb, and with his other hand, fumbled for his phone. He'd had it with him, but making a call had been a very, very low priority.
"I'm calling the police." Because even if he was completely crazy, there was a dead body.
