He'd been exploring Los Angeles by himself for almost a week now, and to say that he'd run into some strange characters was an understatement. However, Hayden didn't mind-- it was just a matter of meeting the right people, getting to know them, and learning and gaining as many experiences as he possibly could!
Not only that, he'd just managed to obtain a job (yes, a real job, where he got paid and got money and had to do funny things with his Social Security number and stuff) and he was excited to begin in about a week or so; it was all so new and refreshing to him, and in that moment, everything seemed like it would be wonderful!
Hayden had to practically stop himself from singing with joy as he continued to wander the streets, popping into random stores from time to time as he looked around. Right now, he was in a sweet shop filled from floor to ceiling with... Well, sweets, but this was more than just normal sweets. His eyes were as large as saucers as he took in the various ranges of candy, and he glanced up and down, unsure where to begin. There was a lady behind the counter, and he turned towards her with a smile. Hmm, maybe he could get a recommendation?
"So- so, what's good here?" |

She didn't dislike it and it didn't really even occur to her as an oddity, but it did lack something when he wasn't there with her. She wasn't as fond of puzzle books as he was and the more quiet times of the day made her a little bit antsy. Part of what amused her most was having someone she could really talk to when odd people came in… after they left, of course. Without Harold, she was forced to just remember all the details until his return. Not ever being the type who could just sit around in that downtime, she started occupying herself by sorting and cleaning random things behind the counter. She really loved their sweets, but oh how sticky or gooey the dishes and pan could get. Between the sugar, caramel, and occasional marshmallow, dish scrubbing could at times become a nightmare. She could only get halfway through one pan before her patience left her and she decided to let it soak for another hour. Thankfully, another distraction showed up for her soon enough. She wasn't the pushy sort of salesman, knowing full well just how awkward it could be when walking into a store alone. Candy usually sold it self anyway. She left Hayden alone with his browsing until he turned and asked the inevitable. She wasn't sure why that was always the way people seemed to ask for a recommendation, and she did have to stifle a laugh whenever they did. " Sugar, I own the place, I'm not going to tell you anything's not good," she responded honestly, and returned his smile with an amused grin of her own. " My favorites are the fudge and gummy bears, but what do you usually like? Do you want candy? Chocolate? Something chewy or crunchy?" That would hopefully get him thinking in a way that would help him make his own selection. |

She did make a good point, Hayden couldn't help but think-- of course the nice lady behind the counter was going to say that everything in the shop was good! The dark-haired male nodded, his head bopping up and down as he glanced around the store. He really wasn't sure what he wanted, no-- there was so much that he could pick out. Hayden hadn't always been the biggest fan of sweets; after all, there were so many more things that he would have chosen to eat as a child. Then again, it was also because he hadn't been allowed many sweet things as a child. His sister had insisted that it would ruin his teeth and he had hence lived quite the deprived existence, until he had reached high school and had discovered the wonders of the snack machines. Sometimes he got cravings for chocolate now, and fudge certainly did sound wonderful.
"I like fudge," he said cheerily. Wow, she seemed to be really sweet! Then again, one couldn't work in a sweet shop without being somewhat sweet, right? Oh no, was that an accidental pun? Hayden sure hoped not. Whenever Gabi made silly puns Leon would palm his face and roll his eyes. "So what do you think would be nice in that range?" Just then, his stomach grumbled, and Hayden winced. He was hungrier than he'd thought that he would be, and certainly hadn't expected that development. Never mind, some fudge would fix that, and maybe he would go to get an In-N-Out burger after he was done here. So unhealthy, so he'd have to go to the gym later in the day, but that was just part of being a college student, right? Eating bad food? Hopefully he wouldn't get fat if he kept on like this, but once in a while was okay, especially because this was all fresh and new and he hadn't really gotten to experience it yet. |

The older woman encouraged when he seemed a bit more decisive in his quest. She didn't really come across very hard to please customers in the sort of shop she and her husband ran. Again, sweets sold themselves, and one could usually recommend something to a more indecisive customer without it horribly backfiring. Sweets were sweets, and those looking for something like a dessert weren't often picky. However, she was more comfortable when she had more of an idea of what the patron was looking for. It was nice to leave someone especially impressed when they had a very clear idea of what they wanted for themselves. She motioned him to follow her over to the side of the counter where they kept all of their fudges. " My husband makes these fresh with ingredients we can actually recognize. Everything's kosher, too, if that's a concern." Once she had his attention, she started pointing to the individual groups of fudges there. " Over here you have some fruit-based fudges like chocolate and strawberry, these on the other side are more classic sweet flavors like caramel or maple. Then…" Edith raised her hand to another section and the carefully stacked squares that had been placed on an old crystal serving tray. An authentic candy shop like theirs wasn't the place for someone with nut allergies, but they did make some effort to keep a few things separated. " These here are more savory and nutty. The basic peanut butter flavor is a bit sweet still, but the others like almond are more crunchy. I'm partial to the salted pistachio fudge." Narrowed his options down while still having plenty of choices for him. She felt rather successful, not that she wasn't always proud of Herschel's. |

Heck, this woman was amazing-- maybe one day he would also open a sweet shop of his own, and sell lots of candy to people. It was something to put on the list of the million and one things that he wanted to do. Some day, he'd figure it out, but right now he was keen to just keep dreaming. Hayden grinned, nodding as he trotted after the lady like a puppy dog. He really was a puppy in more ways than one; he wanted to see all the sights, meet all the people, learn all the things. Travel the world. He had big hopes and big dreams, and whether he achieved them or not he could only try his best, right?
"I think I'll have the salted pistachio, please." So many flavours, so hard to choose. So he supposed it would be safest for him to pick what she liked, right? Hayden was lucky that he didn't have any nut allergies, or anything of the like-- in fact, in many respects he was a fortunate, fortunate boy. "And maybe some of the maple, too?" All the different shades and colours of candy made his heart sing with glee. Come to think of it, the number of times he'd been into a candy shop could probably be counted on one hand, and this was thrilling to say the very least. "Three slabs of each, if that's possible." He smiled at the lady, hoping that he wasn't coming across as pushy, or rude. He was just genuinely glad to be here, and hopefully she was just as glad to be serving him in return. |

Edith smiled again and nodded happily, knowing that this one wasn't going to be disappointed. Not that they ever really were. " Sure thing," she answered. To say she was glad was obvious enough, as what sort of good businesswoman wouldn't be glad to make a good sale? However, there was the bonus that this kid in her store seemed like one of the nicer people that passed by. Their interaction hadn't been much so far, but it was a hunch based on his mannerisms. He wasn't the type she wanted to smack in the face with a broom. At least he didn't seem that way for now. She slipped to the other side of the counter again to grab what she needed for the fudge. Gloves for picking the fudge up, parchment paper for wrapping the individual pieces in, and a bag to place it all in when she was done. Simple enough. She spread the paper out first, carefully picking up and placing the slabs on it so she knew how much she needed to cut. It wouldn't take long for her to finish, but she decided to fill the silence while she worked. " So what's your name, sugar? Are you from around here?" Easy enough question for the young boy. She hadn't seen him around before, but Los Angeles was a big, big city. There were plenty of people she hadn't seen, just as there were plenty of people she could recognize has regularly in the area. |

And," he paused, unsure whether it was a good idea to reveal that he wasn't from around the area for a second, before realising that he'd told about a million people that by now anyway, "I'm from San Diego. I just moved here a week ago, so this is all really new and exciting to me." Hayden stuck out his hand for her to shake, but then noticed that she was still cutting fudge. Oops. The brunette gulped. Now that certainly put him in an awkward position. It wasn't as though he could withdraw his handshake, though? That would have been rude. But if he kept his hand there, he was going to look like he was expecting her to shake it in the middle of her job. So his hand just hung limply there, and Hayden spoke.
"Err... I do want to shake your hand. I just don't know if it's a good idea right now. Sorry," he said with a nervous chuckle. Oh dear, why did he always have to be so awkward? At least this was a nice old lady and not a person who was likely to eat him alive. Then again, the wicked witch in Hansel and Gretel had shown up as a nice old lady at first, so you never knew. What if she ate children? Wait, did he even qualify as a child any more? What was to be done? What-- oh nooooo! Okay, time to get back to reality, to a world where witches weren't real. Hayden shuddered.
"A- ah, please don't take it the wrong way, you seem really nice and you asked my name so I asked yours and I want to take your hand and shake it but you seem busy, I hope I'm not coming across as rude, please don't take it the wrong way because you seem really nice and this shop seems really nice and I really like it so far!" |

People coming to find work in the entertainment industry, tourists, university students, retirees like herself… The city attracted all sorts outside of those who were actually born there. She found that as part of its charm, even if it wasn't quite like New York. So, as she started cutting the paper and squares into neater shapes for wrapping, she nodded and found nothing strange when he told her where he was from. In fact, she was about to go on about her visit to his city's lovely zoo and gardens. Then he went on as awkwardly as she had ever seen a person do before. Quietly, she waited until he was finished sputtering on in a circle of apologies and good intentions. Edith, never really being the sort of woman who worried about coming off as rude herself, began laughing when he was finally finished. It was a laughing fit that lasted a good thirty seconds even though it wasn't too boisterous. She leaned her elbows on the counter and covered her mouth to gather herself. " Aren't you just as cute as a newborn pup," she finally managed to say, taking off the plastic glove to reach over and ruffle his hair rather than shake his hand. " My name's Edith Herschel. You don't have to shake my hand and I'm honestly too old to care, but I will thank you for the compliments." Looking down for a moment, she finished wrapping up his fudge with the one hand that was still gloved. All ready to go into the bag for him. " I see a lot of new people around your age coming in. Most of them are students, but I think you must be the most polite." |

Hayden just gulped, his hand just hanging awkwardly there as the older woman laughed at him. Yes, laughed; he was being laughed at by the owner of the store, and he had no idea how to react to this. He shifted awkwardly from side to side, hand still outstretched in his gesture. Was he supposed to laugh too? Maybe. Yeah, that sounded good! "Ha... Ha... Ha..." It came across as more nervous than anything else though, and Hayden felt his cheeks flush pink. He certainly hoped that it wasn't because his pants were tucked into his underwear. Wait, was that even possible for her to see? She didn't have X-ray eyes, and he was certain that she hadn't managed to see his memetic rear just yet. He also certainly hoped that she wasn't aware of the Unlucky Swimmer Boy meme, but that wasn't the point.
All Hayden could do was watch as she leaned forward, introducing herself as Edith Herschel. "Ah, you own this place then?" Hayden asked. The sweet shop was called Herschel's, after all, and it made sense. He flushed once again as she mentioned that he was the most polite teenager that she'd met since starting work at this shop, shaking his head. "Oh, no. You're too kind, I'm sure you've met people who are far nicer than me. I'm just really, really excited for the sweets. That's all." As though it was on cue, Hayden felt his stomach growl extremely loudly once again, causing a rumble that would have scored at least a 9 on the Richter scale, just about enough to level a small village in East Africa.
"Yeah... That was loud. Sorry about that." It did seem that every few days, Hayden wanted to bury his face in his hands and crawl into a corner. Today was one of those days. Tomorrow seemed like it was likely to be one of those days as well, and so on and so forth. At that point, he was quite certain that he was doomed to forever be the victim and creator of awkward situations for the rest of his awkward existence. |

Opened this place to ease the boredom of retirement." Edith only continued to be amused despite how flustered the boy seemed to be. He was polite in her mind, but she was catching on as well that he was also a bit awkward. The more uncomfortable he was, the bigger she seemed to smile. This was the sort of weird person that she loved to meet at work. His fudge was ready to be bagged, so carefully she started stacking them neatly inside. However, she ended up pausing in the action halfway through. As much as she at times missed the East Coast, she enjoyed a lot of things about California. It was a nice place to be and the weather always seemed fabulous. A little on the hot side, but that suited the older woman just fine. She had been done with winter some time in her 50's. Though, there were also some major downsides, the top being that the state was prone to earthquakes. Ah, living in the ring of fire. That being said, she got used to what the sound of an earthquake sounded like. Though the boy's stomach came impressively close, it was definitely the rumble of an empty belly. Rather than be offended, she just let out another chuckle much more tame than the first time. Instead of placing the final piece of salted pistachio fudge into the bag, she held it out to him to take. " Don't apologize for being hungry. Just means you're in time for a snack. Though going out and getting yourself a cheeseburger will probably help, too." On that note, she didn't want to keep him there forever. A young man probably had plenty of places to be, so it was time to work out the cost. It was usually around a dollar for a slab when weighed, but she was feeling generous. " This will be five dollars, by the way." |

Hayden accepted the block of fudge graciously, the wide smile returning to his face as she handed it over to him. Immediately, he took a large bite of the candy, allowing the taste of sugar and nuts to spread across his tongue as he chewed like a chipmunk. This was good, and he'd had really good food before-- it was rich and sweet and just a little salty, and Hayden found himself taking another bite, and then another, and then one more that wouldn't hurt, one more for the road! Before he knew it, Hayden had devoured the entire slab, and his eyes widened with the sudden realisation. Where had all of the fudge gone? Right, into his stomach. He gave a nervous, sheepish little laugh.
"Yeah, mm. I was... Hungry."
That was the only explanation that he could even offer Edith as he handed over the money, giving her a wide smile. He was a little sad to have to leave the store-- it had been nice, talking to the older woman. People with plenty of life experience were always so interesting, and Hayden couldn't help but wonder whether he had seemed naive, or silly to the older woman. Probably, but then everyone young must have seemed naive or silly to her.
"Thank you so much. The fudge was really great."
With that, Hayden started strolling out of the store, cheerily humming a tune under his breath. It had been such a good day! He had gotten fudge, he had had a fun conversation, and he had gotten to explore. Now, there wouldn't be anything that could make it much better than a burger. A delicious burger with double patties and lots of cheese. Mmm... Hayden was so busy fantasising that he didn't realise that he was swinging his bag of fudge a little too vigorously, and that as he walked past a row of sweet-filled glass bottles, he'd managed to slam his bag into one of them. His jaw dropped with terror as he realised that one of the mint-filled jars was now teetering off the edge. The brunette dropped his bag of fudge, immediately making a dive towards it so that he could catch it--
"Oh, noooo!"
Alas, his efforts were to no avail as the entire glass bottle crashed towards the ground, causing sweets to spill over the place and the bottle to crack into what seemed to him like a million pieces. |

She nodded thoughtfully as if she had been told a secret when he stated that he was hungry, but couldn't help but break into a giggle again when he handed over the money. Welp, one more happy customer taken care of for the day. She smiled and waved to him when he turned to leave. " Stop by again, alright?" She then watched him walk away. However, that smile the boy had managed to keep on her face took a slow turn as she watched him bump into her shelf and tip one of the mint-filled candy jars to the edge. The jar teetered there only long enough to create a suspense that ended with a cringe at its crash against the floor. It was always astounding how much broken glass could come from one jar. It was as if it had shattered in every way possible. Well, that was that. He wasn't going anywhere now. Edith was not a cruel woman… usually. Cruel just wasn't quite the word for her. She liked to think she was very fair in the decisions she made. So, in this moment she only did what she thought was fair. She motioned for him to stay where he was, her gaze wordlessly daring him to move. Then, she went to the back for just a moment before she returned with a wide broom. " I'm going to be sixty-seven in a few months, and my joints aren't what they used to be," she began very calmly, but making it very clear she was being just with her reasoning. And also making it clear she did not intend to clean the mess up herself. She tossed the broom over to him. " Clean it up." Hayden was given a command, not a request. She did pity him a bit knowing that it was an accident and he was clearly in need of a real lunch. However, she didn't let that pity show on her face. This sort of discipline was good for a boy his age. You couldn't just go breaking things in stores without any consequences. |

tagged: duvet. time: May 6th 2012, 17:00. speech: hayden. notes: DUM DUM DUMMM All Hayden could do as the woman motioned for him to stay where he was was to nod nervously, his stomach and tongue tied into so many knots that they would have made a legion of Boy Scouts cry. Was- was she going to do something bad to him? This wasn't Hansel and Gretel, right? He didn't have his sister here with him to push any wicked witches into ovens, and she wasn't wicked! No, she'd given him candy-- wait, that was exactly what the wicked witch had done in the fairy tale. Even if witches weren't real, what could she possibly make him do? Woud anything she could make him do legally help make up for the mess he'd made? All those sweets, gone to waste. It was just then when the woman came out with a broom, and Hayden nodded.
"O- of course," he said, grabbing the broom as it flew through the air. Perfect throw, perfect catch, even as he still held his fudge in his hand. Hayden wasn't used to doing much housework but he'd helped his friends out once in a while, and anyone would be able to help sweep the floor anywhere-- it wasn't the most difficult of tasks. The brunette took the broom, and began his task, sweeping the candies and shards of glass into a neat little pile, before looking up fearfully at the lady. "I- is there a dustpan I could use?" Hayden asked.
"I'm so, so sorry. I really shouldn't have been so careless. If there's anything else I can do to help, I'll do it. Those must have been really nice sweets and I feel awful. Do you want me to pay you back for them?" Money wouldn't be a problem, after all, and that had been a lot of candy. |

Again, it wasn't because she was cruel. The reasoning was still quite the opposite. Though it was actually quite a small happenstance in the long run, moments like this were good for building character. Not that she felt she necessarily had to worry about a boy as sweet as he seemed to be. He didn't even complain when she tossed him the broom and afterwards he was still asking for a way he could compensate for the broken jar and the lost candies. This got Edith thinking. A smile managed to work itself back onto her face. " Well…" She paused in an act of thought, posing with her hand to her chin. " How about we make a deal?" The woman let that idea hang in the air while she looked for the store's dustpan. It wasn't hard for her to find it, so she didn't have to leave him for long. As she was one of the store's owners, she did make it a point to remember where she put things like that. With the dustpan in hand, she walked over to Hayden's side and this time better held it out to him. Then came the inevitable query. " How good are you at washing dishes?" She hadn't forgotten about the pans she had left sitting in the sink. Scrubbing off sticking goo from marshmallow or caramel was a chore and much better suited for a young man with strong arms. Now was as good of a time as any to pick up a temporary pan washer. |

Hayden gulped when the woman mentioned that she wanted to make a deal, especially because she was smiling. Once, Gabi had made him watch a show about a tiny rabbit who made deals with girls to give them magic powers, but it had been completely evil. It had terrified him and he had had dreams about killer rabbits for nights on end, all of them asking him to sign a contract. Hayden shuddered at the thought, and could only nod nervously as the dustpan was handed over; he took it from her, and started sweeping the remnants of what he'd broken into it.
"W- where's the bin?" he began, but that was when the woman asked him about washing dishes. Ah, that was all. Whew! Hayden felt himself sigh with relief as she finished her question, before piping up again.
"I'm not very good," he said honestly. It was true. He'd been a spoiled rich kid for so much of his life, and the first time he'd even washed anything was when he was seventeen years old. There had been spots all over, he was terribly slow, and he'd had to do it several times, but at least he'd done his best, right? "So I'll be a little slow-- ah, please don't take it as an excuse, or anything," he quickly added, "I'll do anything you need of me, I'll try my best to make sure that everything is spotless." |

The boy was very willing to make up for what he had done and he continued to prove that. Edith tried to warn herself not to take advantage of the situation in her head, but that was quickly thrown out with the sudden idea of just how much she could get done for the day. Even if he was only washing dishes, that freed her up to take care of more important things. Hmmm… " There's a trashcan right behind the counter. Double check to make sure you've gotten everything up. Don't want to risk someone cutting a toe or something." The last thing she needed was someone coming in and getting hurt. In a place like Los Angeles, there were plenty of younger kids dumb enough to run around barefoot everywhere. Flipflops weren't exactly indestructible either. He was being so guilt ridden and cautious that she imagined he would do a decent job, though. Hopefully he would be just fine at washing the dishes, too. It was hard for Edith to imagine anyone his age screwing something like dish washing up, but it was possible. ...Maybe? " The sink is just there in the back, and there are a few pans I've had soaking that I need cleaned. You can take as much time as you need to, sweetheart. Upon being told to make sure that he didn't leave anything behind, Hayden nodded, almost giving the woman a little salute but holding himself back in time. What if she saw that as him being sarcastic? No, he didn't want to come across that way at all, especially when he'd caused her such an inconvenience. His eyes scanned the floor again, noting that he'd actually done a pretty good job, and Hayden heaved a sigh of relief. At least he wasn't going to cause any trouble for her that way. And when she gave him instructions to go to the back, he gave her a small smile, and starting to scurry there in small, quick steps.
"Will do!" Hayden exclaimed, giving the older woman a thumbs up. Even if he hadn't broken anything in the first place, he had always been ready and willing to help others, and now that he felt like he had a debt to repay he would do anything the lady asked of him. His hunger from earlier had swiftly been forgotten as he cautiously approached the back door, glancing at Edith for permission to go in. However, it was then when she asked him a question, and Hayden shook his head.
"Ah-- I'm not in college yet, but I don't live with my parents either." It was the truth, and while he wasn't sure how much he should really have been divulging to strangers he was quite certain that this wasn't too bad. Besides, he at least owed her the complete story, especially after what he'd done. The brunette chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his neck. "So don't worry, I can stay here and work for as long as you need me to repay you for." |

However, she also took the time to walk over to the door herself and prop it open with a doorstop. That way she could keep an eye on him. Or at least an ear. The back was, as Edith was always proud to say, just as clean and organized as the store's sales area. She didn't really know a lot about owning a candy shop when she and Harold first hopped into the business, but she didn't like the idea of having a beautiful storefront and then one of those dank back rooms. That would be too depressing. So, she insisted on making it also look just as nice, though obviously it was simpler. " Are you planning to go to a college next semester then?" Edith questioned, mildly curious. Perhaps he was one of the odd students who decided to hop in during the summer semester, or maybe he was planning to start somewhere in the fall. Either way, she was assuming he was planning to start an education at some point based on his yet. She and her husband weren't terribly religious, but they did stop by the synagog for important holidays. They were also just pretty familiar with the community after their few years of living in the area. So, depending on where the younger boy was going, she could list off a few names of other nice boys or girls he might be able to meet. That was always good for a new college student, right? Though that begged another question. If he was living in Los Angeles without his parents and he wasn't going to school yet, what was he doing. Couldn't hurt to ask. " What are you doing here until you start school?" |

The kitchen in the Michelin-starred restaurant his family owned alongside the electronics company was absolutely messy, and if anybody knew the state of it, Hayden had been quite certain that they wouldn't be as willing to pay the same prices. Without a single complaint, the boy walked up to the sink to see the pans completely drenched in hardened taffy. He turned to Edith, lifting one of the pans up.
"These?" he asked. "Actually, it's okay-- I'll wash these anyway, even if they aren't the pans you were talking about, he offered. The sound of the door being propped open with the doorstop sent a shiver up Hayden's spine. He knew that it was only sense to do so for Edith, but he couldn't help but feel like he was being watched in that very moment. Even though it had quite obviously been done so that he was being watched. He shuddered at the thought. At least this wasn't a spy camera, this was a spy... Grandma.
Ba-dum-tss!
Hayden had to resist the urge to laugh at his own terrible joke. Luckily, Edith asked him a question as he turned the tap on, and he turned to her, nodding. "Ah, I'm starting at CalTech!" he exclaimed. "I'm just over here early so that I... I'm trying to earn some money for myself, and living independently." He wasn't going to go into details about his family, even though he certainly wanted to; but he'd been told that giving out so much personal information, especially regarding his home situation was a bad thing. Even if he felt like sometimes, sharing information like this could help you get to know a person, he held his tongue. Instead, he picked up a pan, now that the sink was full of hot water. Some dishwashing liquid lay on the side, and he starting scrubbing the pans with a sponge that he saw nearby, dipping it into the tray of green soap before beginning.
"A- am I doing this right?" he asked nervously. |

She went to go check on a few things on the counter. Now that someone else was doing the dishes, she could sort out the receipts and see how they were doing for the day so far. Still, she was listening carefully, so she called out to answer his obvious question. " Sweetheart, you just wash anything back there that looks like it could be dirty," she answered with a grin, leaving it vague so that he could check the rest of the back room once he finished with the pans. Yes, she was now officially taking advantage of the situation, but really she may as well. It wasn't like she was asking him to paint any fences or detail her car. Yet. " Good for you trying to be independent! That sounds wonderful." She was being genuine, not sarcastic. The more she heard from the boy, the more she was liking him. Not only was he a decent fellow, he was also a boy doing his best to live on his own already. She could understand that completely. Edith had loved her parents very much, but she remembered that drive to get out and do something on her own when she was younger. Granted, that ended her up in Peru before eloping and going on some other international adventures, but still. " CalTech, huh? You know, one of our more regular customers has a son that wanted to start there when he graduated, but that'll be a year or so from now I think. Name is Jeff, I believe? I can't imagine him being so independent though. From what I hear he's one of those couch potato video-ers or gamers. Whatever they call it. Anyway, where do you work then?" Apparently not somewhere that he had to wash dishes. She finally peeked her head in again to see what he was doing. Bless his heart, he was trying, but how could you not be sure you were washing dishes correctly. " Yeah, you rub some soap on it and scrub," she laughed. " You might want to put more elbow grease into it though. If you want there's some steel wool in the cabinet below the sink." |
