It might have taken a few moments for the two humans to register what was going on, but now they were back in action. The small group with them followed with the exception of a middle-aged man. He stood back, watching the group run in the direction of the rhinos and toward another area of the park. "You'll be sorry you did that!" But what happened next would catch the attention of the entire group, freezing them in their tracks. Moments before, the essence of the trainer gathered together and formed the human-like creature once more, right next to the tiger exhibit. With the swift crack of a whip, the tiger bowed down to this trainer, submissive to the man's will. "Kill them." That was all that was said, and the tiger jumped through a recently-made large opening in its exhibit, slowly transforming as it ran. The coloring of the tiger changed and grew brighter just as the claws on its paws extended another six inches. Its fangs grew as well, extending further than its mouth would allow, creating a monstrous looking maw. Sharp spines appeared down its spine, growing slowly in size until they reached a height of ten inches as well. The coloring of its eyes changed from their amber hue to an icy blue. Just down the pathway, this tiger was waiting for the group, hoping to have a large meal. But today the only meal that tiger would be getting was this man. It crept up slowly as the man was looking in the direction of the group, aware that dinner was about to be served. Just as the man turned around, a cry of surprise that changed into a gurgling sound could be heard. The tiger was feasting on the man's neck, causing the man to sound as though he were drowning. In mere seconds the tiger had feasted on almost the entire man, carrying a mauled body in its mouth back to its habitat. As it walked, it began to change as well. The entire tiger began to grow, towering up to a whopping five feet four inches. The point of its tail was now replaced by a razor sharp blade, cutting anything that came into contact with it. The small group of humans was safe, for now. The rhinos were too busy watching the tiger devour its prey to even think of chasing after them. The unlikely duo continued down their path toward the sea eagle exhibit, which seemed rather dull compared to all of the other exhibits. The majestic eagles, in their large caged area, sat on their perch mesmerized by the masses that frantically ran by. The creatures had yet to hear the cursed sound of the tamer, oblivious to what was going on around them. All they could do was to sit and watch. |

ATARAXIA (n.)calmness or peace of mind. A rush of relief flooded her when he decided to follow her, after all, the unicorn looked a lot more harmless than the two monstrous rhino mutations which seemed too keen on making them into a snack. There were a small group of people following them as well, mostly adults with children. She had to get them out of here safely, a few of the younger ones were already starting to tear up and their parents were pale. Terror and panic were commonplace but Cal was doing a good job at rallying them into escaping with them. She will hand dealing with the group to him while she focused on the route they were going to get.
So far, the rhinoceroses were distracted by a new addition to their monstrous club. Allison turned around to check and was just in time to see the mutated tiger sink its fangs into the vulnerable neck of one of the adults who had lingered behind. She had read about this phenomenon when some just pretended that everything was normal because they believed that going on about their daily lives would stop whatever disaster was coming towards them. Wrong decision. Allison sucked in a horrified breath and widened her eyes, fists clenching to stop herself from puking her guts out. Blood was everywhere and she gritted her teeth as she watched the tiger hauled the dead man back to its habitat, the corpse dangling from the predator's mouth like a limp doll destroyed from one too many careless tugs of a young child.
When she looked back to their small group, she realised that some had also turned around at the sound of the cry and the man's dying gurgles. There were a few who stood rooted in fear and unless they were roused from shock. A little boy began to scream hysterically and a few of his peers seemed to be following him down that path. Allison exhaled lengthily as her mind rushed for options. They need their parents, who were mostly frozen. Okay, she swallowed nervously as she quickly pulled on arms and shook shoulders.
"Hey, we need to go. Now." One by one, they snapped into attention and concentration returned. Some shot her a weak thankful smile and others just gave her a deer-caught-in-headlights look before realisation hit them. She wasn't sure how Cal was doing but she reached for him, her fingers encircling a thin but strong wrist as he continued to stare at the bloody spectacle. It was surreal, like they were transported to a fucked up Safari pumped up on growth hormones and supernatural energies.
"Cal."
She needed him to be strong, to be alright. Because she knew that she can't do this without him.

He couldn't help it-- he laughed.
A hollow, empty laugh rose from the cavity in his chest, bursting through his throat in a choking, rasping sound. But it was a laugh, undeniably so; a broken, horrified one, but a laugh nevertheless. A laugh at the sight of the tiger sinking its teeth into the man's neck, its jaws piercing through his flesh, blood gushing out from alabaster-pale skin as it began to feast. So he stood there completely transfixed, feet locked to the ground, his fear taking root in inaction. In a lack of movement. Crimson fluid lashed out onto the concrete as the tiger feasted on his prey.
"Cal."
A familiar voice jolted him back into reality. The rest of his surroundings came clear once again-- the pathways, the winding trees, the rhinos not too far away from where he was. A child's wail rang through the air loud and clear, and he bit his lip. No, he had to do this: he had to make sure that everyone got out of this safe.
Someone had given their life to save his years ago; it was only fair that he did the same.
"R- right," he said, greys meeting browns as he took a nervous gulp. Allison was here, and she'd anchored him back to the real world. More importantly, she was here, and she was by his side. Callused, shaking fingers wrapped around her wrist as he inched forward, turning back to face the maddening crowd. The screaming children, the yelling adults, the horde of ghosts of the happy tourists that had been with them before.
"Guys, listen up!"
He could only hope, only pray that this would work. First, he had to save himself. But if he could help everyone else, that would be a first, wouldn't it? Actually serving some sort of purpose in life rather than to just live, laugh and make merry? Do something that Allen would have been proud of.
"No time to lose, guys. We've got to go," he said as he started rushing ahead. "Follow me and Allison-- this is Allison, by the way," he stuttered, raising the girl's hand along with his own. "She knows what she's doing. No. We know what we're doing." Fake it until you make it. That was his mantra, right? The more he acted like he had some sort of clue, the further this was going to get him. With that, he darted off in the direction Allison had asked him to go in, hopefully bypassing the rhinos safely.

Sebastian could have said a number of things. Maybe he should have. She was nervous—almost babbling as she decided to rejoin him, a decision she might regret later if the whole plan went south—but he remained straight faced and quiet as they walked, listening. It was a bittersweet effort—his eyes narrowed and he glowered as he realized that sometimes the sounds were watered down or muted sporadically for no reason, like bad static. Noise came and went. The exhibits Sebastian led his charge by were sometimes overwhelmed by the silence even, and he could not tell if his sense of hearing was failing him or if the creatures inside were hiding and instinctively frightened. He growled under his breath as a result; it made sense that nature would cower under a perversion of power like the mutations, but if it was just his hearing that was the problem, it might make his job of locating the tamer all the harder. He took solace in the fact that at least sometimes, sound filtered through the void. In fact, he caught the word “Liebchen” as they walked and his gaze flicked over his shoulder, concentration momentarily broken.
“Freundin,” he corrected softly, his hands twitching at his side; the sea eagle exhibit was dangerously close now, and his brow furrowed as he noticed the birds of prey looming overhead. The masses were still in the process of scattering like startled roaches exposed to a light; their shrieks sometimes grated on his nerves as he pressed forward. But as far as he could tell, the tamer wasn’t here, and the animals were ordinary. His shoulders relaxed, but only for a moment. Odd—he had been almost certain he’d heard that maniacal laugh originate from this path, but this section of the zoo seemed relatively peaceful and untouched by chaos—minus the panicked crowd. The sea eagles were obliviously preening their dark feathers with their large yellow beaks, black talons gripping at each perch or branch they rested on as Sebastian finally brought their two-person party to complete halt, throwing his arm out in front of Allison to keep her from taking another step forward. “Eyes open,” he said, voice still low as he glanced at her from underneath his hood. Sebastian wasn’t much of a conversationalist, and as such, he raised one finger to his lips before he could hear the rest of the request she made in regards to her parents. In truth, he hadn’t wanted to admit that there was a good chance that something could very well happen to her, and if he agreed to her terms he might as well have admitted as much, draining her of whatever hope she clung to. So he didn’t say so. He simply pretended not to hear or understand what she wanted. Yet, at the same time, if they were too busy talking and not paying enough attention, the likelihood that something would happen only increased.
So he urged her to be quiet and continued to move forward, keeping his eye open for any sign of his target.

There was many emotions that caused Allison to ramble; nervousness, happiness and at the moment it was excitement. She hadn't noticed it at first, she had actually mistaken the feeling for indigestion but she was sure of it now. The fluttering of her stomach wasn't bad chinese food, it was the idea that she was about to go toe to toe with some monsters. It was wrong to think this was cool. She knew it was. That didn't stop her though. As much as her mind was telling her rational things like people died because of this and that she could die because of this Allison couldn't get the feeling to go away. She usually just talked it out but right now she had to keep her mouth shut. She's been told to do that too many time for it to be hard anymore. Allison wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. The thing was she could only do this for so long so she needed to distract herself. Watching her "freundin's" back was keeping her eyes open, wasn't it? She thought so. For someone with the most boring existence ever Allison was surprised at her lack of surprise at the magical ring-wielding person walking ahead of her. It actually reminded of Ronni's story but he didn't seem like the guy she was talking about. She did squint her eyes though to check for any Tinkerbell wannabe's. Not being able to find one was actually quite disappointing. Pulling her mind out of the gutter Allison blinked slowly and took in her surroundings. They were quite strange if she did say so herself. The normalness of the animals in the exhibit looked rather strange against the backdrop of running, screaming, terrified people. She kind of expected more. Then again being nearly killed by rhinos wasn't on her list of top 10 things to do, Allison didn't even think it was in her top 100 ways to die. But the scene actually made her even more tense. Having nothing happening should be good thing right? Wrong, it was always wrong. The quiet moments were always just before the monster attacked. She had seen the slight drop in Sebastian's shoulders and that actually made her worry. He couldn't relax now. Allison was useless on her own, she knew this though she tried to deny it. If Sebastian thought it was time to take a trip to Tahiti because the birds still looked birds, the two of them were going to be swimming with the fishes very soon. He was the expert though so she was going to put her trust in him. Allison was relying on a complete stranger to make sure she didn't die today yet this didn't even strike her odd. He hadn't failed her yet and she was pretty much out of options anyway. She had given up the other chances at escape he had given her so she was stuck with him for now. Allison didn't really know if that was more good for her or bad for him. There as one question she wanted to ask. Before they died, or went into battle, you know which ever came first. She wasn't sure how to ask it without breaking orders. She had to resist the urge to raise her hand. Never has it been so difficult to ask someone their name.

Stalking the foreign man and young lady was the animal tamer, blending within the shadows of the exhibits. He decided to simply watch them for now, waiting for just the right time... It would not be long. The woman would go down without a fight, but that man was going to be a bit more trouble. He knew. Silently, slowly, and with utmost caution, the tamer slinked away, melting into the background, leaving no trace of his presence. And moments later, the tamer was back. The two kids (well they looked like kids) and their small pack of people made their trek also in the direction of the sea eagles, but they were much further behind. The tamer considered having some fun with them, but they had already been traumatized enough for right now. Instead, he readied his whip and proceeded into the siamang exhibit just ahead of the group, preparing for the next surprise. |

ATARAXIA (n.)calmness or peace of mind. It helped, his hand around her wrist. It was something that grounded her, reminded her that she wasn't doing this on her own. They were in this together and drew strength from each other. He was crowd control and she was seeker. There had to be a way out of this madness, Allison did not believe that they were going to die here, despite the ridiculous conditions.
The group followed obediently, parents either clutching their children's hands or carrying them. Some of them were even helping out with someone else's kid. It gave her more motivation to get everyone out in one piece, although with their sanity will be another question all together. Allison made sure that they bypassed the monstrous rhinoceroses and made a beeline for the unicorn that had caught her eye. In another life, on another day, she would have never believed what she was seeing but hey, given the fact that she just saw two rhinos mutate and turn into human-flesh hungry monsters and a magical tiger crunch on an innocent bystander, the unicorn was their best bet right now.
There was a strong gut feeling that the mystical (not so mystical anymore if it existed) creature was going to lead them out of there or at least help them somehow. Right now, any help they could get is welcomed assistance because she had no idea how were they supposed to stay alive if any of the mutated animals decided that they looked like mighty fine targets for dinner tonight. The unicorn galloped away and she tried her best to keep up as the group made its way swiftly around another animal habitat.
Lord, she prayed, don't let this one mutate too.
Three creatures hopped up on magical testosterone was three more anyone could handle. She sneaked her glance to her right at Cal, taking in the otherwise pale pallor, except for the rising flush from their escape, and she could see the anxiety. Maybe he could use some reassurance (herself too). He had released her wrist sometime between artificial habitats (she mourned its loss for a second) and it was now her turn again to offer some physical grounding as her fingers wrap around his forearm. Allison looked him dead in the eyes and mustered all the certainty she could find within herself.
"We got this."

They had this. They had to have this. Cal gritted his teeth, relishing her grip around his hand as though it was his lifeline, she was his lifeline. "We'll be okay," he said out loud, though it was more a reassurance to himself than to her. But they were almost there, right? They were going to be fine, weren't they? There was so much that he hadn't done. So much that he hadn't said. And despite his occasional thoughts, the nightmares that plagued him at night, he turned to Allison and let out an admission. A plea--
"I don't want to die."
For the first time in forever, his voice was not much more than a harsh whisper, the admission of weakness seemingly uncharacteristic for his usual bravado. But was it that rare? Was this that unusual? Not to him, who was the only one who knew what he could be like alone at night. His years of masking his emotions had meant that he had no idea how to deal with them at this stage, and he was, for lack of better words, absolutely terrified. But he turned back, trying his best not to let that show, noting that people were starting to pull themselves together.
He had to pull himself together, so he smiled.
"Come on guys. We'll be okay. We're all going to be okay." They'd passed by another exhibit, right? They were nearly there. Nearly out, and he would be okay, she would be okay. Everything was going to be fine.
Wasn't he the king of fake it till you make it? So he continued to push on, holding on to the fact that Allison was with him, and that they were still alive. They were almost at the siamang exhibit now. Almost out, if Allison knew what she was doing. Almost.
Almost.

Sebastian’s quarry always seemed to vanish like smoke. Every time he thought he caught a sliver of unnatural movement amongst the exhibits it was never anything substantial or it darted out of sight in that split second it’d taken his eyes time to look. Frustrated, he did his best to mute the noise and panic surfacing around him—the people still spilling aimlessly through the zoo’s pathways—but noise wasn’t the only problem. Falling into a focused trance was easy enough for a man used to the silence of the void, but he began to see searching for the tamer was a ridiculous waste of time. Whatever was skulking about the zoo, watching—and he could feel it, a distinct set of eyes boring down on him and his companion, the hairs on the back of his neck prickling—it was too clever to unveil itself again. Sebastian figured it—or he, whatever it was—wasn’t ready. The tamer was waiting for something. It was the only thing that made sense.
He glanced over his shoulder at Allison. “If you see anything—anything odd—speak up. For now. We keep going.” And just like that he flicked his gaze away and started moving again, melding with the crowd bustling by, aiming to get away from the sea eagle exhibit and continue on their way through the zoo. Sebastian wasn’t sure what would draw their quarry out. His fingers went searching deep into his pockets for a cell phone he already knew wouldn’t be there. He’d left it back at his apartment to charge because he’d driven the battery dead after days of use and no rest. Maybe, if he was lucky, he could remember one of the numbers from the Society that he had saved on it.
Maybe.
Sebastian doubted it, but it was better to try than to do nothing at all. “Do you have a phone on you?” he asked, looking at her again.

more "fun" than a barrel of monkeys
Finally! The man and his partner had made it all the way to the siamang exhibit where things were going to happen. Once more, the tamer made a grand entrance for no one in particular to see, but it was spectacular nonetheless. His target? The group of gibbons that were minding their own business. Once more, the familiar sound of a whip shattered the concentration of worried murmurs and concerned voices. For a moment, it appeared that nothing out of the ordinary happened. But that's when all hell broke loose... Before the animals could take charge, the tamer created an opening through the exhibit for they could escape. Without warning, a large group of these creatures barreled through the opening and onto the crowded pathways, clearing them almost instantaneously. Six of the beasts targeted one of them in particular - the man that was protecting the young blond. A flurry of arms and wild howls echoed over all of the screams and assaulted the man, throwing a number of powerful blows toward him in hopes of doing some serious damage. It was meant to scare him away, more than anything, and to make him retreat. But there was one thing the man had not anticipated, and that was the seventh siamang. While the other six made their assault, the seventh snatched up the pretty young blond and drug her by the hand toward the entrance of the park. The man would be too focused to notice that she was missing until it was too late, and her cries of terror would be drowned out among the other noises of chaos in the zoo. What the girl did not realize was that this siamang, though effected by the influence of the mysterious tamer, had kept his wits and managed to bring her out of the chaos. He slung her onto the gravel in front of the gate before taking off back toward its home, leaving the pretty young lady a bruised and scraped up mess. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Meanwhile, the small group of people that was once moving together began to slowly disperse, feeling as though being with the two young leaders was only going to have them eaten. Their number was reduced by half by the time they made it to the siamang exhibit where the lone man was being assaulted by the gibbons. Were they to help the man, or simply run past in hopes of escaping? |

ATARAXIA (n.)calmness or peace of mind. Seriously, this was getting out of control. There were more creatures. Christ. Allison almost did not know what to do anymore. It's bordering on overwhelming, not that the whole concept of mutated zoo animals with a taste for human flesh was tame in the first place. She was only thankful that she could hear the loud bellows and growls that just didn't seem quite normal by any standards. And to her dismay, the group they were trying to get out of the zoo was thinning, a physical sign that the others were losing faith in them but what can she do? Allison knew that she couldn't very well beg them to stay with them, it was a choice that had to be made individually. Though she will admit that it wasn't a hundred percent certainty of Cal and her getting them out in one piece too. So for that, she could understand if they wanted to take their own chances but in such a situation, shouldn't staying together in a group look more promising than venturing into the dangerous unknown? It sent a pang through her heart when she saw a couple of people with children take another path from them. The girl wasn't going to lie to herself, she was terrified but she knew that she had to hold on to whatever tenuous control she had at the moment if she wanted to escape a bloody mangled fate. Cal was still holding onto her hand, his long fingers squeezing hers almost painfully. It would usually discomfort her but at the moment, it was a sign that she's still alive and he's still with her. The pair rounded a corner and they made it to the siamang exhibit, only to find a man assaulted by gibbons. Were the gibbons deranged as well? The poor man was more than distressed, panic clearly seen in every line of his body and his expression. Death by monkey, as they would have it. She chanced a look at Cal, unable to gauge his reaction, so she had to ask. "Do you want to grab him? We would be able to scare away the gibbons with our current numbers and the primates don't seem to be of the monstrous variety."She wasn't going to be the lone hero who broke off just to save someone, it was a matter of weighing whether it was going to be beneficial for everybody and sometimes, you can't save everybody. It was just cold, hard fact. She wasn't going to outright say that she's all for saving the man; she had the group to think about. But she wasn't about to just bypass a fellow human being in distress without trying to do something. The group around them seemed undecided as well but didn't look completely against the idea after she had explained a little. Time was also running out but she hadn't forgotten about that unicorn. Allison knew that gut feelings weren't something to be ignored that easily. ----- CALLUM SNOW | words 638 tags #zoo #event notes gorgeous blondes, baby tigers and monstrous rhinos |

Cal glanced behind him, noting that the people were starting to disperse. "Guys, come back," he yelled over the crowd. "We've got strength in numbers, it's probably better if we all stick together!" Hopefully people would hear him, but at least he'd made some attempt to rally them together. He wasn't sure whether it would work. Hell, he didn't even know how confident he sounded, and chances were that it wasn't very confident at all. But he was a liar, right? A good actor, right? Hopefully they would buy it.
Because he sure as hell wasn't buying his own act himself. Either way, he continued to follow Allison, rounding a corner and making it towards the siamang exhibit. A man inside was being mauled by gibbons, the creatures lunging at him, piling onto him. His heart caught in his throat, and he paused in his tracks. "Allison," Cal begun, "Allison, I think we should--" She made sense. This made sense. There were enough of them to actually do this if they tried. "You're right--"
But then he froze in his tracks.
The blonde glanced back towards the dwindling numbers of people. A woman in the back shook her head and a man covered the eyes of his child. Their looks told him one thing: they did not want to do this. It was a case of being able to save these people, versus the chance that he might have been able to save the one. Sure, they had the numbers to fight the gibbons off, but the animals were all acting rabid. And a familiar face, a familiar voice drifted into his mind--
Your parents have lost one child. They can't afford to lose another.
"I'm not taking any more risks. Let's go, guys," he hollered over the crowd. "We- we can't wait any longer. It's safer to just go."
With that, Cal started to pick up speed. He knew what he'd just done: he'd essentially left a man to die. A pang of guilt shot through his chest, but he gritted his teeth. No risks. No more. He just had to get out of here, and make sure that everyone stayed safe.

And then all hell broke loose.
Sebastian braced as the first gibbons descended upon the path and the two of them, the tamer's whip crack still singing in his ears. It was the last thing he heard in that moment actually. Not even the raucous calls and shrieks of the siamangs pierced his ears; for once it seemed, his curse was a blessing in disguise. The magic in his gloves could protect his hands well enough, but he shielded his face with them too, knowing all too well that there was no such thing as an ape that could inflict minimal damage. Before he did so though, he grabbed Allison and shoved her by the shoulder, hopefully throwing her free of the brawl and losing sight of her. Hell, he might not have been able to hear the swing of their gangling arms, but he could feel the animal's fists whumping against his body in fierce retaliation; the muscle in his legs locked in return. He knew if he fell to the ground they would really swarm him, and that was unacceptable. So instead, Sebastian bore the brunt of it, knowing he'd have welts and bruises later that would not heal for days, but in the fray he managed to thrust a fist out and catch one gibbon in the jaw. It howled in terror and pain as the magic of the gloves and Sebastian's heavy punch rattled its teeth. The animal staggered away and did not come back to help the others.
Occasionally he would look up though, Sebastian's white bangs falling into his simmering, irritated gaze as people stopped to stare. All the better that they didn't interfere. His gaze flicked over his shoulder before he elbowed a gibbon in the gut, realizing that Allison was gone. He hoped she'd gotten away; he hadn't heard nor seen the animal drag her away. Nonetheless, his pulse slammed in his ears. This was getting ridiculous. Alone, he could not handle an entire zoo of mutated animals and the tamer. Time was running. He either had to find the bastard now or get out and call for back up. Sebastian's jaw tightened and he swore under his breath, a harsh and guttural sound he couldn't hear before he jammed his fist into another siamang's throat. The beast crumpled, clutching its neck and the trademark sac, but the others backed away, howling indignation. It gave Sebastian just enough of an opening to run.
And run he did.
He tried to keep away from the bulk of the crowd, his body, particularly his ribs and arms, reeling with pain. Up ahead, a blonde and a young woman, both teenagers, were fleeing too. He was too far away though, to make out who they were or even call ahead for them to wait. He frowned. Sebastian wouldn't have wanted anyone to wait for him anyway. This situation was rapidly spiraling out of anyone's control, and when he got back to base, he was going to make a serious suggestion to the Society heads that they station more agents throughout the city. Maybe even partner people together so that when shit like this went down, agents weren't left alone to deal with it on their own, because skilled or not, one hunter could not handle all of this on his own. Oh, it would cut in on social time and people would have less privacy, but if the Impedio Society wanted its members to keep their lives, they had better damn well get over and do something. In Italy, Sebastian had always worked in a group of hunters. He had never been solo.
And it was because of things like this.
Regardless, he had to get out. They all had to get out--it was the only option they had left if they wanted to live.

Kicking pebbles to pass the time, she followed after her rather large companion. It was funny, how the two of them were so calm in all the chaos around them. Or at least she thought she was calm. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see her hands shaking. How she missed that was beyond her. She curled and uncurled her fingers hoping to stop their incessant jerking about. The shock of hearing the man speak did a pretty good job at making her freeze though. It nearly made her heart stop too which was kind of strange considering how loud everything else was around them. It actually took her a minute to realize he was talking to her. Was she allowed to speak now? "Uhh, right." she said quietly before looking down at the ground once again. Allison wasn't used to such awkward situations. Her head whipped up at being acknowledged and she instantly reached for her pocket with her free hand. "O-O-Oh yeah, I hav-" The familiar crack of nearly made her heart stop. She knew what was going to happen next, she just knew. Clutching her phone tightly in her hand, she squeezed her eyes shut and waited for things to really go south. It wasn't very smart of her to freeze up like this but she couldn't help it. All Allison could think is what her mom told her to do when she was lost or in trouble; stay in one spot and find help. She could hear everything, pretty clearly to be honest but the only thing she cared about was seeing it. No more people getting crushed, or screaming or dying; she didn't need to see anymore. It didn't seem like she had a choice in the matter though because since she was shoved to the side. She let out a gasp as she stumbled back into a crowd running behind her. The people dragged her away in their dash to get away and she completely lost sight of her light-haired friend. Once the people finally let her escape, she searched for a head poking high above the rest but swwwhe could barely see through all the movement. As her eyes scanned the horizon, she caught herself staring down a gibbon careening right towards her. Allison didn't even have time to scream before she was snatched up. She's probably never screamed so loud. What was she supposed to do? What would anyone do? The monkey's grip on her wrist was painful enough but her trying to keep up was more like her being dragged across the ground. Allison wasn't sure what to react to; the rocks digging into her skin, the burns she'd be getting from being pulled across the ground or the fact that her friend was alone. He could more than take care of himself, she knew that, but she was more worried about him then herself. That didn't stop her from screaming though. She was unceremoniously tossed to the ground and it took her less than a second to make her next decision. Like any smart person, she was up on her feet and running right back into the zoo. He hadn't abandoned her and she wasn't about to do the same thing not matter how stupid it was; no matter how stupid, how very very stupid this was. She didn't even know how she was going to get back to him at her speed. It did seem that someone up above was merciful because there was a golf cart sitting right there in front of her. She assumed it was a golf cart, it looked a lot like one but it wasn't what it looked like that mattered. Allison only cared about how fast it went. Tossing her umbrella at her feet, she was surprised she still have it with her. The key was already in the ignition and she inhaled sharply as she turned the engine down. She better get her license after this. Allison slammed down on the acceleration and tore her way down zoo's path. People hopped out of her way without having her to scream at them and getting on her way was easy enough. There was a route the shuttle took that ran around the zoo that would be a much faster to get through than weaving her way through the regular walking paths. God, she just hoped he wasn't dead. And this cart just wouldn't go fast enough! This zoo was too for no freaking reason. "Get the fuck out of my way." She screamed at people who didn't have the common sense to jump out of the way. "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon." she mumbled under her breath as she neared black bear exhibit. Allison turned the car sharply and slapped the steering wheel hoping that would get her there sooner. He would be coming over this way, wouldn't he? Wait. Was that him? Allison nearly hopped out of her seat in joy. He was alive! Well, he wouldn't be alive much longer if she ran him over. She swerved to a stop ahead of him and frantically waved his arms to get his attention. "Get in!" She was only leaving this zoo with him. That was absolutely final.
overly attached for the win and i'm just going to act like golf carts are decently fast <3

The gibbons, previously rampaging and causing as much mayhem as possible, began to part and make way back to their home, leaving anarchy in their wake. This was marked by a young blonde in a golf cart frantically making her way through crowds of people. It was highly unfortunate that, in the midst of all chaos, a small child of about eight found himself wondering around in search of his mother. It was even more unfortunate that this child stepped in front of the speeding golf cart, unknowingly in the way. A loud, shrieking cry of horror was all that could be heard just as the cart missed, catching the boy's arm and tossing him onto the pavement. On the bright side, Allison didn't do any major damage physical damage to the child...that she could tell, at least. Brakes squealing and adrenaline still pumping, the unlikely pair were brought back together, but for how long? In the distance, the tamer watched... There was no need to hide since the zoo was now in a hysteria. In seconds, he calmly moved his way through the crowd before stopping in front of the golf cart, whip ready in hand while flashing a grotesque smile. "And where do you think you two are going? The fun is just about to begin!" He didn't budge, either. Would she be dumb enough to try and run him over? but which is the correct one? Just then, a very small group of people lead by a pair of kids (read: teenagers) approached the scene. Again, the group was faced with a choice. The foreign man and high school student faced the tamer while the group of people stood at his rear. Sensing a presence behind, the tamer whirled around and noticed the small group approaching. Would the group assist the two, or would this be another opportunity to run like cowards? Time was running out. A decision had to be made, and it needed to be made immediately. |
