It had seemed like a good idea at the time but now, it probably didn’t. Well, actually it still looked like a good idea. Julianna was pretty drunk, after all. Everything seemed like a really good idea. It seemed like a good idea to run off out of the bar after being cut off. It seemed like a good idea to stay up till three. She was just drunk enough to be so happy, not drunk enough to be throwing up in a toilet, though.
She knew her limits, after all. Every once in a while she enjoyed a night out. She’d made a few friends, got a few numbers, gave the boys one of her numbers. It was a good night! Now it was time to go out and make friends on the street.
Despite offers from her bodyguards, she walked on her own, spinning around and giggling about nothing in particular. It was real dark out, and she wished she could see the stars. “Where the stars? Mmm? Did Daddy steal those too?” she asked, grabbing a light post and spinning around a couple times. She almost fell. Her bodyguards stuck close by, just watching.

tagged: Julianna time: May 14, some early hour. speech: Jun Shi. notes: - - -. The air was crisp, clean, borderline sharp in his nose as he took a deep breath and grinned to himself. He was quite happy that night, now was he? Downtown LA teemed with life during those early hours. Hell, it teemed with life at all hours, but he found the early morning especially interesting. Perhaps this was why he preferred to conduct his various businesses at night.
Walking through the area with the bars was always fun. Oh yes, he could hear the din and the people were always interesting to watch. Like ants, they swarmed here and there, looking for a drink or two before moving on. Some would walk out with dates they wouldn’t remember in the morning. Others were more devious, and expected to be gone before the other knew a thing.
And then there was Jun Shi, who was there for all of and none of the above.
There were the crazies and there were the homeless and there were the drunks. Well, she certainly seemed drunk. Jun Shi stepped back out of the woman’s way; she was clearly inebriated, spinning around on a lamppost and murmuring about how her daddy stole the stars or something.
”Excuse me, miss.” He said, politely enough as he stepped to the side, fully intending to walk past.

She made a little squeak of surprise and stopped mid-spin, leaning backwards ever so slightly to get a good look at him as he skirted passed her. Long hair, not really her type but—oh my that adorable little Asian face!
He had to be hers.
“Hold on there, cutie,” she cooed, reaching out with the hand not currently holding her up to the light post to grab a hold of him. When she thought she had a good enough grip on his arm, she let go of the lamp post. She had imagined she’d have more grace and finesse with this endeavor, but she lost her balance when she let go and stumbled to keep her balance.
Well he’d either catch her on purpose or because she fell into him.

tagged: JULIANNA KRAVEC time: May 14, some early hour. speech: Jun Shi. notes: - - -. He thought he’d just walk past and be done with it. Jun Shi, though not quite a gentleman, was at least tactful when he knew he was in the public eye. He himself wasn’t too well known aside from the people who needed a kidney, a liver, or someone found. His brother, on the other hand… Well, being a twin was a little difficult at times when one ran a huge corporation while the other took part in less than polite business.
But this girl… Well, this girl seemed to insist on making him pay attention. He’d oblige, but only because she really, really wanted to turn his head.
Not like he couldn’t pay attention anyways when she went fumbling into him. He could smell the faint waft of beer on her and he tilted his head, opening his arms and catching her easily.
”Oh, hey, be careful, miss.” He still sounded very polite. She must’ve been someone fairly important; the guards that lurked didn’t escape his attention. Wasn’t this supposed to be their job?

He managed to catch her and everything! She giggled slightly and didn't hesitate to lean on him. Her goons took a few uncertain steps forward, unsure if they should let her have her fun or perhaps step in, apologize to the guy, and carry her to the car. Julianna, however, waved them off when she saw them from the corner of her eye. They were always looking after her. What nice guys.
But she liked this nice guy better. At least at the moment.
"No you be careful," she giggled, pulling at the neckline of his shirt. A few people still walked by even at this hour, and they were either amused or disgusted by her public display. Julianna should have known better: she was trying to be a big time movie star! She couldn't be caught being all drunk and indecent in public like this. But oh well. She was the type of girl that wanted to have fun. "Waz you're name, darling?"

tagged: JULIANNA KRAVEC time: May 25, some early hour. speech: Jun Shi. notes: - - -. Jun Shi was careful. Someone important, or someone who had money. Someone who was influential or egoistic enough to have paid bodyguards watching her, moving in uneasily as she leaned against him, only to be brushed away a second later. It reminded him of his brother; Kun Shui had bodyguards, though they always seemed to snake around corners and out of shadows. They were discrete. These ones were not.
He grinned down at her, friendly, helping to ease her up to her feet more steadily. ”My name?” Always the name. ”You can call me Little Phoenix.” Funny enough, his nickname was even longer than his real name and seriously had no bearing on what it meant. It was an old nickname he’d received from who knew where.
”I can ask the same of you, miss.”

She stood up a little straighter when he put her straight on her feet. So he didn’t want her to lean on him, then? Well fine then. She’d find a way to do it anyway. She was very good at making sure she got her way one way or another.
That wasn’t good enough. Julianna pouted. “That’s silly. Can I just call you Phoenix instead? Though that’s not very oriental,” she whined, leaning forward just a little bit and brushing one of her stray hairs off of his shoulder. It seemed to have fallen out of her head. . . how strange. She was kind of interested in it for a few seconds before he asked her name.
Julianna smiled. “Juliana,” she sang, exaggerating the symbols as if she had to remember. “Just call me Jules I suppose.”

tagged: JULIANNA KRAVEC time: May 14, some early hour. speech: Jun Shi. notes: - - -. Jun Shi shifted his own weight until the girl was standing on her own, then brushed off the front of his own shirt. Phoenix? Well, sure, he supposed. He just shrugged at her in response, straightening himself up with a long breath.
”Phoenix is okay, I guess.” He grinned. ”Well, if you’re going to call be Phoenix, I’ll just call you Jules.”
At that point, Jun Shi glanced over his shoulder towards the various guards that were barely skirting them, obviously watching. Protecting their ward, and all that. ”Have I stumbled into someone significant?”

His arm, in specific. She needed to hold on to something at least. If not she would probably start swaying slightly and then maybe start stumbling if she stopped paying attention to her balance. . . it would be kinda funny. Maybe.
She glanced at her bodyguards and just waved them off. “Them? Pffft Daddy thinks I need protection.” Julianna waved at them. “Comes with my name—Kravec. But shhh. So—so where did you come from? I mean like—China, Korea?” she asked.
To fuck with politeness. This was very important information she just absolutely needed in order to go on with her life. “And why—why are you up this late?”

tagged: JULIANNA KRAVEC time: May 14, some early hour. speech: Jun Shi. notes: - - -. Aaaaand she was holding onto him again. He made a little sighing sound, but perhaps he could tolerate it. She was definitely drunk, though. Her body guards weren’t doing such a good job of keeping her safe, now were they? They were practically letting her hang off random passerby, himself included.
And he was the worst kind of passerby, now wasn’t he?
Then she mentioned her surname, and he tilted his head to the side, curious for a moment. Kravic… Now where had he heard that before? It rang a bell, but from where? He’d need to ask Kun Shui later, to see if he remembered it. An old family friend’s surname?
”I’m from Hong Kong.” Technically, he was still a citizen of Hong Kong. He was only here on ‘vacation’. As for the second question, he moved his arm into a bit of a hook. He was a gentleman, of course. ”Just out for a walk tonight, darling.”

That was it? At three in the morning? Had Julianna not be slightly inebriated she would have found that suspect. But now she was just happy he was here. Well, until her body guard’s decided to step in.
“Why don’t we get you home?” one said, gently taking her by her shoulders.
Julianna shrugged them off and embraced Phoenix instead. “Nooo I wanna go get coffee with this darling Hong Kong man!” she protested, showing no signs of ever letting up. She wanted this man! She wanted him now! Even if it wasn’t in her best interest. And she probably should go home and sleep this off before she regretted it.

Well, finally one of the guards actually decided to do their job and walked up to them, taking the girl’s shoulder. Perhaps they sensed something about him that she hadn’t yet, and that was all well and good for her.
She was dead set against it, apparently. Also, coffee. At 3am.
”Well, perhaps not coffee, darling.” His voice was goddamn silk as he put an arm around her waist, starting to walk and lead her along and letting her lean on him all she wanted. ”But let’s go for a walk, huh?”

The guards looked at her face, the way she furrowed her brows, the way she hung on this stranger she just met. . . . She was never going to forgive them if they tore her away from her new shiny man. They sighed and just backed off, gesturing for her to go on as she pleases. Because she always got what she wanted, no matter what. That look always won.
Or crying. Crying sometimes worked.
She squeaked with pleasure and took Phoenix’ hand. Yes, he was right. What coffee shop was open at three in the morning anyway? “A walk! That would be most pleasant! This way!” she declared, holding his arm close to her as she started to kind walk-stumble away.

tagged: JULIANNA KRAVEC time: May 14, some early hour. speech: Jun Shi. notes: - - -. Ah, well, this was easier than he thought. Perhaps it’d make him bolder. Maybe it’d make him consider luring people in while they were surrounded by others. This one was a little easy; she was surrounded by bodyguards that didn’t seem to care all too much about what was going on. Even if they did, her word seemed to overrule their method of keeping her safe.
Kun Shui would’ve had them fired if they were his guards.
”Lead the way, darling~” He almost seemed to coo, glancing over his shoulder at the guards and giving them a look. Sly, perhaps? A little mischievous, up to no good, but who were they to talk over their little princess? They were headed somewhere, alright, and if she was lucky, maybe it’d end halfway pleasantly. If not, then it’d be much too bad.
No, not coffee. Definitely not for coffee. ”Care to come along?” He practically purred at the guards, but didn’t wait around for an answer.

I’m hungry! I’d even take some Taco Bell or something!” she cackled, using Phoenix like a crutch for her tiny little stagger. She was probably going to have a small little headache when she got up in the morning, but it was worth it! She had a new friend!
She glanced over her shoulder when he addressed her guards. “Of course they will, darling!” she cooed.
And, just like that, they sighed and trailed after her, glaring at this Phoenix person. They were definitely sticking close by, but they wanted Julianna to have a good time, too. Kind of. They wanted her safe first and foremost but. . . they would have to take her somewhere for food anyway.
Might as well let her drag this poor sap around.
