words | 426 | It had been a week. Kyu-Sik had been a little on edge since the incident with ghosts in the park. He was rather uneasy everywhere he went and couldn’t seem to entirely relax. It was nerve-wracking, after all. Not even a walk in the park was safe apparently. When not at home or work, he kept himself in mainly public areas. He knew in the long run that wouldn’t have really made a difference, but it did give him some piece of mind.
What was keeping him sane? Well, he was a very put-together boy. He was good at keeping calm despite his underlying tensions. The weirdest part of it all was that he wasn’t even necessarily unhappy. Things had been changing in his life, but he no longer felt like he was stuck in a rut. He was playing his flute again and he dared to say that he had a friend. After the ghost attack, he and Donovan got some bingsu and then parted ways. He thought that would be the only contact with the man after something that bad had happened, but then he was given lunch in return for some hemmed pants on Wednesday. This led to Saturday plans of visiting a museum together. If he couldn’t find true comfort in anything else, he was finding comfort in that.
Of course, spending the day off with Donovan on Saturday meant that he’d have to go into work on Sunday. It wasn’t a terrible thing. The business was quiet and he had managed to get a lot of work done. He was feeling productive and considerably better than he had the Sunday before. So, he decided to walk home. The weather was nice and there wasn’t a point in paying for the bus. Though, the more daring move was the decision to take a shortcut through the alleyways.
Kyu-Sik did hesitate as he looked between two buildings. He knew the way and he had done it at least a hundred times. There were very rarely ever people down that way. As much as he had been avoiding leaving public areas over the past few days, he decided to get over his fear and go for it. Strange things were happening, certainly. He was even still hiding that tattoo on his shoulder. However, it was much worse to live always worrying about what could, wasn’t it?
The sun was setting, but there was still some light left in the sky. Sighing to himself, he ducked into the alley and started on his way home. |

All day, he had been doing nothing but following a boy, something nagging him over and over about why this boy felt so important. Chaos was drawn to Kyu-Sik for sure but had not been too sure why, that was at first. Now he know, after finally finding the boy it hit him, the familier feeling. The scent was different, but this was the Shadow Cleric alright, just in a different form. Still it made things a bit difficult, the boy was young and probably knew little about himself. This was why Chaos had chosen to follow and not confront the young man right away, he needed to take his time with this one. After hours of watching, hiding, he finally picked the right moment, although his approach may have been the wrong kind. He had been listening to Kyu-Sik's mind for hours now and had found just the right think to comment on. The only problem was that Chaos still had no voice of his own and would have to speak directly into the guy's mind, which for some never went well.
Still he needed to at least try, gain connection with his old friend and see if he could lead this new cleric back into his former glory. "Tattoo? More like a birthmark that just decided to show up a bit late." Chaos stood before Kyu-Sik, even though he was awakened, the collar Chaos warn hid his true form even from the Shadow Cleric. His tail moved in a slow wag, he did his best to not make any move that might be seen at threatening. He wanted to make an allie not scared the man away. "Yes before you ask, the dog is talking, and no you are not going crazy."

words | 456 | Kyu-Sik decided to check the messages on his phone as he made his way down the alley. However, no message checking would actually happen as that’s also when he heard another voice. Sort of heard. He was confused at how unable he was to pick up a direction from where the voice was coming from. There was no way to immediately realize something was talking directly in his mind, so he felt like his ears were just playing tricks on him. However, that was not the case unless his eyes were playing tricks on him as well. His phone nearly slipped from his hand when he looked up and saw Chaos standing in front of them. He slowly slipped it back into his bag, making no sudden movements. This is what he had to thank his daring decision to take the alley shortcut for.
There was the brief inner battle of whether or not to run. He did prefer to stay alive. A part of him was telling him to book it, but another part of him, his instinct, was telling him that he was in no danger. That he needed to stay there. Usually he ignored his instinct in favor of logic, but he listened to it in this instance. "I’m sorry. I—" Those were the first words out of his mouth, spoken with an airy rasp that seemed to lose breath before he could continue. Anything to finish that sentence did not come to him right away. He wasn’t sure what to say.
The Korean male took a moment to look over the large black dog in front of him. This creature did not look entirely familiar. Sure, he had seen large black dogs before. However, the appearance of this one wasn’t something recognizable at all. This was not something he had seen before in his lifetime. However, there was something. He knew that voice from a memory that was not quite his own. Or perhaps it was? To say he was confused by the whole matter was putting it lightly, but he decided to latch on to that voice and the feeling of friendship it brought him. For now, it was the only anchor he had.
"…We’ve met before, haven’t we?" He felt crazy for saying it. He really did. But he had to know. If he could make any sense at all of that one vague memory and the strange ‘birthmark’ on his shoulder, he would engage a dog in conversation. Still, there was the slightest hesitance. How did one even go about talking to a dog about something that may be his imagination? It was absurd. "I mean… your voice. I’ve heard your voice before, haven’t I?" |
