"Good crazy. Definitely."
Colin laced a hand into Julie's, eyes staring at his legs dangling off the pier. They were so close to the sea; if the water had been safe to swim in, he was quite sure that he might have even considered jumping in for a moment. Then again, he supposed that it was probably a bad idea seeing as he would have been soaking wet on the drive back home, and now was certainly the worst possible time to catch a cold. Because he was moving in with his girlfriend, he thought, squeezing her hand. They were going to live together, and the thought was exciting and frightening and wonderful and it made his insides churn once again with glee. If anyone had asked him two years ago whether he would be going out with someone like her, he would have laughed in their face; he had thought that he had known his limits, that he knew who he was and what he deserved. Yet she had shown him that he deserved so much more than what he had believed, that he too was allowed to have weaknesses and history and above all love.
"Three years ago I would never have imagined that we'd be in the same state." It was true. Back then he had thought that she was just another face in the sea of his Internet friends, people who knew more about his private life than anyone he knew in real life but would never even learn his last name. For good reason too, to be fair-- he'd heard enough jokes about it to be at least slightly embarrassed, even if the teasing was mostly immature. He edged himself closer to his girlfriend, before letting go of her hand; he wrapped that arm around her shoulder, pulling her in tightly before giving her a kiss on the nose. Colin wasn't exactly one for explicit public displays of affection, but right now the desire to pull her in and just begin making out was nearly reaching a breaking point. Nearly, but not quite. He chuckled.
"You're going to have to put up with how weird I am all the time. Are you really ready to handle that?" Of course she was though. She'd seen more than enough of him to understand his flaws, his insecurities, his habits, his everything. And he in turn had a good feeling that he understood hers, so moving in really just seemed like the next natural step. After being separated from her for almost four months when he'd been on his study abroad the earlier semester, he was just glad that they would get to make up for that time, hopefully with the rest of their lives. He was just glad that nobody could read his mind at that moment. He was so stupid for her that it was insane. Hazels turned to glance at the full moon, slowly surfacing from behind a cloud, the stars in the sky shining so brightly that he was certain couples all over the country believed that they were doing so for them. And without realising it, he was singing under his breath, just loudly enough for her to hear--
"We'll hit South Broadway in a matter of minutes And like a bad movie, I'll drop a line Fall in the grave I've been digging myself--
But there's room for two Six feet under the stars."

"Lady Luck was on our side, huh?" She laughed slightly, resting her head on his shoulder. Oh, and did she know how lucky she was. Out of all the hundreds of thousands of millions of people there were in the world, she had somehow lucked out in finding the one person she loved the most. Too often, she wondered what in the world she had ever done to warrant such good luck. The thought of what her life would have been like now without Colin in it made her shudder; she didn't really believe in luck, not really, but when it came to Colin she had to make an exception. Only for him though.
She made an indignant sound in the back of her throat when he pulled her in close to him and kissed her on the nose, though they both knew that she liked it. The smile curling her lips was certainly telling of that; he really needed to stop making her heart melt and flip flop at the same time. He was no good for her poor heart at all, but she liked it. She liked the feeling that pooled in the pit of her stomach whenever she was with him. It was akin to the feeling she got when she had some particularly delicious ice cream- it made her toes curl and her eyes close, like all she wanted to do was savor it forever.
But as we all know, Julie would easily pick ice cream over Colin anyday in a heartbeat, so that comparison probably wasn't the best.
(That was another lie- she would always pick Colin over everything.)
Julie wrinkled her nose at that question. "Excuse you, I handle your weirdness on a near daily basis. I can deal. Besides," she laughed, "It's a little late now, wouldn't you say?" Yes, she knew Colin now like the back of her hand; she knew him, just as he knew her more intimately than any other person in the world. He knew all her secrets, every dark thought that she had ever had that she could only tell him in the dark of the night, when the rest of the world was asleep. There were some things you could only tell a person under the safety of night, and he knew every single one of them. She had no secrets from him, and at this point, she doubted she could keep a secret from him even if she tried. He knew her too well, read her like one of his books- though, she liked to think she still had a trick or two still up her sleeve. After all, if they had each other figured out too completely, that just wouldn't be any fun at all.
Sometimes, she wondered if they were moving a little too fast, taking things a little too hastily, but she had only to look at him to know that she was making the right decision. They had known each other for 3 years and been dating for 2, but it often felt like she had known him all her life. They had nearly been inseperable in the 3 years since they had first met face-to-face, save for Colin's study abroad to England for a semester. The 4 month seperation was what spurred all this into motion to begin with; while she had been happy that he was having fun overseas, his sudden absence from her life had left an unexpectedly large hole. She had missed him, even though all things considered 4 months wasn't that long. The loneliness had been more than she could bear, however, which was why when she visited him in Europe at the end of the semester she had proposed the idea to him. And now...
She snuggled closer into his side, a content sigh escaping her lips as she hugged Colin the Second tight. She could have actually fallen asleep like that, except Colin began to sing the chorus from one of their songs. She opened her eyes again, a tiny smile on her lips as she listened to him sing for her. It really was the perfect song for them, she mused, and once again her heart did that thing where it flopped over in the cavity in her chest then refused to get back up again. It sputtered along like an old car engine, and she couldn't help but grin. "Dork." She mumbled, before sitting up and pressing her lips against his in a soft kiss.
