tagged: character. time: date & time. notes: none. All things considered, it was probably a good thing that Leon was so forward. Keijiro had a tendency to hang back in conversations, letting other people take the lead, and if he ended up in a conversation with someone else who did the same thing... well, then there'd be an awful lot of awkward silences. Instead, he was more then content to feed Leon little questions, getting to know him a bit better and taking the pressure off himself. He preferred that. He could listen to people talk all the time without issue, and he smiled a tiny bit at how enthusiastic Leon was about the whole thing. He was practically bouncing off the walls--definitely full of energy.
It was apparently quite a long vacation, and Keijiro's eyebrows raised. There was no question in his mind that Leon and his brothers were probably well off. Most people couldn't afford to just take a bunch of time off and travel around. Especially not to LA, which was pretty damned expensive as far as living went. He hesitated, then gave a little nod. "What are you going to do when the trip is over? University?" Because of course he'd want to go to university. Almost everyone did, and if Leon was well off, he'd probably been working his ass off to get into one of the better Universities back home in Japan.

All things considered, Leon was one of the few who wanted to get into a university in Japan. Wanted to, as in past tense. Because right now, he couldn't possibly think of a worst idea. He did not want to revisit the years of which he had actually worked very hard to get into a university and, in a sense, had gotten in. And then he failed. Actually, he probably wouldn't even make it close to getting into a Japanese university. Not one of the mainstream ones, anyways. More like a small, tiny, really easy compared to other universities to get into one.
And he had still dropped out. The entrance exam may have been hell, but man, there was nothing more humiliating than dropping out because the classes weren't all that bad... He had just nevr studied, and that was what had brought him down. "University... Is very far from my mind right now. It's probably back to work once we go back, so I really don't want to. But I like it too, so I din't know. I just wanna enjoy my time here and have lots of fun before we go back. But I guess that is an option too." An option he would never, ever want to go through. Because it just sounded very painful to go through that process again. "I don't think so, I'll just do what I've been doing before."

tagged: character. time: date & time. notes: none. So... he wasn't interested in university? His first thought was that Leon had already graduated and was simply older then he looked, but after his brief explanation he was left with the unfortunate (but very confusing) realization that Leon was one of those people who actually didn't go to college at all. Instead, he was going to work, whatever that was.
He would have been lying if he'd said he wasn't vaguely disappointed. He took his education very seriously, and while it wasn't the most respected of degrees (art and music never were), he still thought that getting an education was important. It was something that everyone should be striving towards, and it was a tad upsetting to find out that he didn't see eye to eye with Leon on that.
He pushed the thought away. Maybe he had a good job, something respectable or important. It was relatively obvious that his family had some kind of money. Maybe he was inheriting the family business, and the trip was his last big hurrah before getting down to work. He supposed that was an acceptable compromise.
"You have a job then?" He asked, in that tone that heavily implied he was curious, without being rude and outright asking what kind of job it was. He did want to know though. Maybe it was something interesting. Maybe he worked for a company Keijiro knew. Hell, maybe he'd visited Leon's parents shop before without even realizing it back when he was in Japan.

Leon wondered, for a brief moment, whether to tell Keijiro or not that he dropped out before he didn't put enough effort into his studies, even through the hellish exit exams. He ultimately decided against this because it would probably make him look bad, and it probably gave out too much information on himself, anyways. Even though he had said to his new best buddy over here that he might consider it, looking at his circumstances, he wasn't going to. At all. There just wasn't the time, because once he was back to work, work he did. Now was playtime, and he didn't want to think about work during playtime. Although he did have fun at his work too.
And now he was sort of threading water because no, he did not want to reveal too soon that he was a famous Japanese pop star (or at least, a part of a famous Japanese band), if Keijiro didn't already know. Because he was Japanese, and, well, Leon might be bragging on this point but they were pretty well known. But, Keijiro mostly knew traditional music, right? So nothing to worry about, right? He also wasn't sure if he was allowed to say anything, either. Much as he'd like the ego boost, now as not exactly the time.
So when he asked, Leon sort of tried not to give away too much information while not telling a blatant lie, either. Which was actually a lot harder than it looked, with how much he wanted to say. "Yeah! It's a really fun job too~ I guess I make some money from it, but I actually don't really know, nii-sama usually handles that stuff." Keijiro sounded like he was curious about it too... "Actually, all my co-workers are with me. It's like a group vacation." Leon wasn't sure what to call them, co-workers, friends. He wanted to say people who worked with him too, but they were his friends also, and for some reason co-workers seemed not as friendly.

tagged: character. time: date & time. notes: none. Keijiro did not, in fact, know. He hadn't recognized Leon beyond a passing sense of familiarity that he'd brushed aside. If he was told the name of the band, then he'd have probably been able to place him, but he wasn't exactly a megafan who was going to recognize a member of the band so far from where someone would expect them to be. He didn't keep up, didn't know that the band was on break or tour or whatever they were, and unless someone told him, he probably wasn't going to find out on his own. He wasn't going to go snooping around to see if he could find out who Leon was--if he wanted to keep it private, then so be it.
And it soon became obvious that he did want to keep it private. He'd technically answered the question, but he'd also completely dodged around the point. He hadn't said what his job was, just talked a bit about it while avoiding the point. Keijiro tried to disguise his disappointment, pushing away the urge to try and guess. It could have been anything. There could have been a million reasons to try and hide what sort of job he had, from confidentiality to simply embarrassment. What if he was a sewage plant engineer, over in the United States for a conference or something?
It was an awkward and slightly confusing thing to think about. He hesitated, then gave a little nod. "It sounds exciting." He commented politely. It had been nice to talk to someone who was also fresh from Japan, but he was rapidly running out of things to say and ask. "I think I should be getting back home though." Which was true. He'd gone out to get one CD and it had taken him several hours already.

Leon felt just a little bad. Just a little. A smidgen. It was because he did want to tell Keijiro, who was curious, but he told himself that he didn't want to appear to be boasting or anything, and he wasn't sure about the vacation thing being private or not. He'd have to ask Eric about it later. He did want to boast, but he always did. Keijiro seemed like a nice enough guy, though Leon didn't want to give him the nitty gritty details of his stay here in America.
Maybe he could have phrased it a little better, or something, because then Leon was hit with the feeling that Keijiro was leaving because of this. And he really didn't want Keijiro to leave - after all, they had just met! It didn't really occur to him that it probably wasn't because of him that he was departing so soon, but he couldn't help but think it. He was leaving right after he had said the stuff about his job and stuff.
"Okay then, but we'll see each other again, right?" Leon was sure they would, after all, how many heavily-accented white japanese people where there?
