tagged: jun shi. time: may 13, 2012 - 1:40PM. speech: gabriel. notes: pm me if there are problems, thanks. He hadn't been expected to be called back so soon. No, not at all -- if anything, Gabriel hadn't been expecting to be called back at all. He had expected that his request would be forgotten, that no call would be made, and that it would just be another failed attempt that would land him back onto square one. Well, square two, really -- he had the letter, but that was it. But Kun Shui had warned him -- he had better be completely certain that this was what he wanted if he was to employ Jun Shi's help. And while he did absolutely want So when he had received notice of a meeting arranged for him only a few days after speaking with a certain Jun Shi Wei, Gabriel had to swallow a lump in his throat. Was he... prepared for this?
Jun Shi had said something about a contract and a price, and a to what that would entail, Gabriel didn't know. But he was obligated to at least go take a look, because it did require the other to fly out to America to speak with him in person, and that was why he was here again at the Crystal Palace, not even five days later. He figured that if it was here again, he might as well appear as polished and formal as possible -- though he was regretting the tie a bit. All things considered, he felt like it was choking him. No, it wasn't on too tight, it was just... he found it hard to breathe right now. But so far it had been going... alright? He had been let in after identifying himself and going through a (very) extensive security check unlike the last time, and now he found himself standing right outside the office of a certain Jun Shi Wei. With a deep and shaky breath, Gabriel knocked on the door.

tagged: Gabriel Kingston. time: May 13th, 1:40PM. speech: jun shi. notes: - - -. He had a meeting today. Not the same sort of meeting that his brother had; oh no, he wasn’t here to discuss the drab economics of Hong Kong and America. He had a slight fondness of the triad business this time around, and a certain blond was coming over, sitting down, and possibly discussing which organ he needed the least. But oh no, it wasn’t going to be dirty. Not at all; he had a special doctor on hold that could snip-snip and it’d be done in about an hour. He wouldn’t wake up in a bathtub full of ice water.
That was too dirty for him. Jun Shi had some taste, and sitting there in his office, one leg crossed over another and his laptop flipped open to the news, he figured there wasn’t much in getting his hands dirty. Of course, he could if he wanted to; Kun Shui had always been a bit too soft to be pulling the trigger, so it was up to Jun Shi to do that.
Not a minute too soon. Jun Shi just finished one article when security informed him with a ring of his phone that Gabriel would be let up now. Yes, that would be fine, thanks. A few minutes later, again just on time, he heard a knock at his door. His smile grew.
”Come in.” And didn’t that sound friendly? Of course it did.

tagged: jun shi. time: may 13, 2012 - 1:40PM. speech: gabriel. notes: so very, very late with starbucks. The voice on the other side was friendly -- and Gabriel paused for a second, unsure if he felt comforted or unnerved by that fact alone. Shaking his head -- he had resolved to this, he had to see it through -- the blonde took a deep breath and did just as instructed. Turning the doorknob alone felt like it took an eternity and a half, even when in reality, Gabriel had opened the door no faster or slower than the average person would. Just the sheer amount of (possibly self-afflicted) distress that he felt right now felt like the weight of heaven and hell and the world itself was bearing down on his shoulders, if he was to be perfectly honest.
The moment that he stepped into the office, it occurred to Gabriel that he might have somehow stepped into the wrong office or that he had been mixed up for another client or something, because wasn't that Kun Shui over there? It was, wasn't it? But that voice earlier had been much too friendly to be Kun Shui -- if memory served Gabriel right, Kun Shui had been an extremely serious and seemingly tight-laced individual whose every word had been about business. At least, that had been Gabriel's impression of the man. But there was definitely no one else in the room aside from himself other than this man who looked more or less exactly like Kun Shui -- oh. Oh.
"A-Apologies," Gabriel said quickly, bowing his head after having realized that he had entered the room and froze for... well, to be honest, he didn't know. It couldn't of have been for more than a few seconds, right? "I did not realize that Mr. Wei had a twin brother -- t-thought I might have been led to the wrong office for a second..." Somehow, that fact hit a little bit too close to home. Just the fact that he was dealing with the other half of a set of twins alone made him miss Michael all the more in many more ways than just one -- but that was why he was here. To amend that, among other things. This was to bring Michael back home. "If I may be so forward, Mr. Jun Shi Wei, correct?" It was easy to tell that Gabriel was extremely uneasy and feeling very out of his element right now -- in fact, he had no idea how he was managing to be coherent with just how very anxious he was.

The door swung open as if on cue and Jun Shi had it all choreographed in his head. He’d been through this process before, he knew what happened when a person walked in. Gabriel certainly looked surprised though, and Jun Shi tilted his head at him. What? Not expecting what he got? Well, looking Gabriel up and down, he wasn’t the typical type either. Then again, there was no typical type when it came to desperation. They all felt it the same, and hoped that he could help them.
Indeed, he could.
He was stuttering, which was a good sign. ”No worries. My brother doesn’t often tell people beforehand that I’m his twin.” For some reason or another, perhaps for the surprise factor, or maybe it just never occurred to him. Either way, Jun Shi wasn’t about to tell him to start. A little surprise sprinkled in was always nice.
He motioned to the chair across from him. ”Please, have a seat. Yes, I’m him, but please just call me Jun Shi. Little Phoenix, if you prefer.” He would prefer the latter, actually. It kept things more discrete. ”And you’re Gabriel Kingston, correct?”

tagged: jun shi. time: may 13, 2012 - 1:40PM. speech: gabriel. notes: so very, very late with starbucks. "I... I see," Gabriel replied, his voice still a bit soft from his initial surprise. The other was certainly correct to guess that Kun Shui had never told him about his twin brother -- at least, Gabriel couldn't remember that as something that had been mentioned. But that was beside the point -- he wasn't here to think about the ins and outs of details like someone having a twin brother when he was here to search for his own. With a deep breath, Gabriel did as he was told, and took a seat across from Jun Shi.
He seemed alright enough -- definitely not as terrifying as the phone call from a bit ago would have implied. Maybe it had been nervousness. Or he expected Jun Shi to be as serious and stoic as Kun Shui had seemed. Or the day itself had just been taxing on his psyche or something. But he still remembered what Kun Shui said to him -- that Jun Shi's prices for his help were steep. But nothing was too steep to pay if it meant getting Michael back, or at the very least knowing what had happened to him, Gabriel told himself. That was all the justification he needed. Do it for Michael.
"Jun -- Little Phoenix. Alright, I can... g-go with that." Was that what his name meant or something? Nevermind, now was not the time to think about that either. (Though Gabriel did admit to himself that calling the other "Little Phoenix" felt more than just a little bit ridiculous, but he wasn't about to insult what might be his only chance at finding his twin.) "Yes, t-that would be me," Gabriel answered, sitting rigidly in the chair with his hands gripping the armrests a little tighter than he intended to, tense enough that his knuckles were going white. Another deep breath. "I... I believe that Mr. Wei has a-already told you about why I-I'm here? I-If not, I would be more than happy to... elaborate on it." He just hoped that he could without tearing up was all.
