His senses were going haywire and a deep feeling of being watched overcame him. He could feel the hairs on the back of his neck stand up in response to his increased senses.
After being given that help with Clotho earlier, things around him came to have a more sharper and definite presence. It made him feel like one of those mediums you see on television Friday nights and talking about ghosts and supernatural presences. He was scared to look behind him. The presence that flooded him was overwhelming to him, and he began to sweat and stiffen because of it. Naturally, his body's response was to either fight it off or run, but since he didn't want to turn to face it, he simply stood there with his hands gripping the angel in his arms tighter for some form of silent support.
His mind kept on telling him desperately not to turn around. If he turned around, he'd see something he wished he could take back. His heart beat in his chest and then his eyes ripped from in front of him to fixate upon the thick black tendrils and black fog made any natural light from the blissful world he knew so well at this point, void and useless. It became dark, so very dark, and the only thing that gave much light at all was the grey light hidden beneath his shirt and Nana's blue marking that gave off a bit more concentrated light than his own. Instincts he knew nothing of spoke in his mind:
'This presence is setting up a field and trapping me in...I won't be able to escape without forcing my way out.'
The darkness moved on its own as if it had its own mind. He had to turn around, there was no alternative. Slowly, his leg shifted to the side and the blonde would slowly turn around to face what was behind them. A woman was there in a black dress that coiled around her shape. Her red hair was wild, all over the place, and Kurt took pity upon her at least for that aspect. The girl needed a flat iron and some doses of strong shampoo and conditioner.
The fog began to take shape into things that he thought were absolutely impossible unless having supernatural origins. Truth be told, he was more perplexed by them than scared, but Nana's confident aura faded and she screamed and hid behind him. He looked behind him to look at her, but could see that her resolve was coming back full swing. "I can't sense a way out. The darkness is too thick." He responded, and felt confident when her hand touched the marking. He was reassured and narrowed his eyes at the enemy before them, but his expression soon turned to blank, neutral disbelief at the water splashing against the ground.
The deadpan face he gave was practically priceless and though she spoke with feeble intent he huffed. "You'd better get the hang of it fast." This thing was unnatural and the darkness was conjuring things that most likely would scare them. "...I'll try and sense more things for you. Any kind of information will help." He couldn't do much else. His hands were tied and he had to take care of Clotho. Then it dawned on him...
What the hell am I saying?
All of these instincts coming at him at once, though faint, were becoming increasingly dominant the more this suffocating fearful aura progressed around them.[/style]

This was going to be far more amusing than she could have asked, it was a pleasure to annihilate such feeble warriors as well as start a revolution against the three fate, Clotho being the trigger. The women took another step towards the two mortals, she had nothing to fear, the only thing stronger then fear was... fear. Her nightmares seemed to snake out around her in flowing torrents of uncontrolled ecstasy. She was in heaven, this free exertion of her power was a joy ride for her. She would not hold back, these pathetic warriors would pay, she would enjoy watching as they asked for her mercy. No one was immune to fear, even she feared her own power sometimes.
The smoke continued to change form, shifting from one entity to another. Like a cloud that shifted with the breeze, the smoke could be identified as many things as it slowly started to approach the mortals. A rabid dog took shape, the foam dripping from it's mouth. With a quick snap of it's teeth it was once again shifting fog. A large bear swiped out from the smoke shortly after a skeleton seemed to crawl towards them. The faint glow the smoke provided seemed to make each being more eerie. At times it seemed like there was a trail of blood while other times it seemed to be tethered to the women that created it. The fog would devour anything it could envelop. The mortals were going to be cornered, their attempts would be futile.
The red haired woman seemed to gasp slightly, the droplets of water fell to the ground in what seemed like slow motion. The girl had conjured them, could Clotho really exert this much power and not have killed herself. A shiver ran up the woman's spine. Maybe she should execute some caution as these warriors may give her some grief. The water splashed against the floor, the pavement changing in colour slightly, staining the very ground. The water kingdom had fallen once, this girl would fall just like her ancestors once did. Her body seemed to casually walk towards the mortals, being sure to give her smoke space as it continued to shift in shape. She made sure not to look at the smoke directly, resorting to her peripheral vision. She would not be a victim to her own power.
"What do we have here?" The women's voice was raspy to say the least. She could still remember dying like it was yesterday, every action she performed was a miracle to her, fate had blessed with a second chance. She would prove she deserved the chance by following through with her duties to destroy Clotho. Killing this girl was only an added bonus. "Speak" Her voice gaining authority and command. She would not be left to fear her opponent. "Who are you and what are your allegiances with Clotho?"
It went without saying that their next words would decide their fates. The woman shifted her attention over to the man, he seemed to shelter the angel. Cowardice, it was the only word she could think of as she could see the angel's unconscious form. The nerve of the angel to rewrite the strands of fate for two mortals only for her own survival. The threads of fate were only to be manipulated by fate itself. She seemed unaffected somehow, she merely spun the thread, how dare she make such a rash decision. The man would have to die, the fact that eh cradled her proved his loyalties. It was a shame such a gentlemen would have to die so soon into his life. It didn't have to be this way if Clotho hadn't interfered with destiny.[/style] |

[atrb=border,0,true][classy=bang"]BANG BANG, SHE SHOT ME - ★[/classy][classy=interesting"]IT WENT BANG BANG BANG STRAIGHT THROUGH MY HEART[/classy][classy=shotme"][classy=throughmyheart"][/classy][classy=withoutpain"] Yeah okay buddy, you try pulling water out of your ass without flipping shit and then we’ll talk. Really, she was trying her best, all right? Nana licked her lips in nervous anticipation. This had to work. She’d seen the pause her water had given the entity and it only reinforced the need to use it properly. Easier said than done, she knew. He would help her “sense things” he had said. Nana scoffed inwardly. She didn’t need any help to sense the immediate danger of this mysterious shadow woman.
The shadow monsters became increasingly active as their master approached. New shapes roiled within the darkness and Nana’s stomach did frightened little somersaults. Gulping it down, she closed her eyes. It wasn’t real, it wasn’t real, it wasn’t real… Nana cracked one eye open only to see that the fiery-haired witch and her shadow ghouls were still very much there. Well, it had been worth a try.
Well this was a surprise. Nana didn’t know what she had been expecting, but it certainly wasn’t this. The witch, the thing, spoke to her. Nana blinked, eyebrows rising slightly in disbelief as her gaze locked onto the red-haired woman – she was markedly easier to stare at than the shadow monsters. The question gave her pause, but the authority in the woman’s voice irritated her. No one just willy nilly commanded her what to do. So with perverse satisfaction, Nana decided not to give this otherworldly creature a reply. Stupid? Perhaps.
Rather than reply she turned her attention back to concentrating on the water she could draw from her rune. It was clearly useful – though she didn’t know how just yet. Oh well, Nana didn’t usually plan things out too well beforehand and just jumped right in. So far it had served her well (sort of) and at the moment she felt as though her body would just naturally remember these things she didn’t know how she knew.
Nana repeated the earlier action, brushing her fingertips against the top of the rune and pulling away in a fluid motion. This time she completely internalized the freak out and banished it to a far corner of her mind where a little voice continuously screamed “OMFG! Water just came out of my fucking body! HOLY SHIT!” Yes, well, she could break down after this. For now Clotho was most important, and this woman had approached just a little too close…
She maintained the water (albeit a bit shakily) by using her right hand as well. It felt so strange yet so perfectly normal. It was a trivial amount of water, maybe a liter, yet it seemed like so much more in her small hands. Her breathing was slow and steady, her calm unnerving. So this was how you fought; with perfect control, aware of every miniscule movement. Nana moved the water through the air ahead of her with the slightest movements of her hands, noting the imperfections of its path whenever her inner panic threatened her outer calm.
Well then, time to believe in Clotho and trust that this water could somehow help them. Making a relatively educated guess, Nana flung the water out like a whip toward the red-headed figure. She didn’t appear to like the water; she commanded these shadow things, so attack her first, right? Seemed perfectly logical to Nana – she could worry about how strange her dreams had become later. It was unnerving certainly, but Kurt had to keep his eye on the prize so to speak. The smoke that billowed around her changed into more shapes and frightening things. It did frighten Kurt, sure, but whenever he felt that it was too much, he looked down at Clotho to remind himself why he had to stay strong. Maybe it was one of those masculine instincts, but he couldn't turn away at this point.
Things were becoming too weird to completely write them off and the intent to kill and torture him and the others was quite clear. Still, he couldn't fight her if Clotho was in his arms. He placed her down on the ground and shifted to take his jacket off and place it on top of her as a blanket. At least it would be warm and he couldn't leave her there without something covering her.
He stood in front of her then, protectively. She spoke and Kurt narrowed his eyes. Being in an alleyway, a trash can caught his eye and he immediately jolted towards it, took the lid and swung it at her with all the strength he could muster. He knew it would hardly do anything perhaps, but hopefully it would give Nana an opening.
"My answer is clear." He spoke firmly, that was all he needed.
Seeing now that Nana began to conjure more water this may be what she needed to get past whatever defenses this woman had![/style]

The shapes continued to become more and more twisted. It didn't take long for the shape of Kurt's ex girlfriend start to appear, her expression the exact same as when she admitted to having an abortion. She reached out with a hand in desperation.
The shape of Nana's parents also took form before her eyes. Their forms slowly taking in the appearance of when they were killed the crimson blood slowly starting to take shape. The woman seemed to laugh as their deepest fears started to surface from the fog. The women was not expecting the trashcan lid to go and ruin all her fun. The metallic lid sailed through the air with inhuman strength. The lid easily sliced through the fog, with the blink of an eye she caught the lid in her hands. The metal slowly started to steam within her hands, like acid the metal broke down before their eyes. The fog of the people dissipated, it would need time to regenerate and come back with more ferocity. It was a shame she was not ready for the water to crack out and strike her. She recoiled in pain as the water slashed against her right shoulder. She gasped in surprise as she dropped the lid to clutch her shoulder. A red liquid, too dark to be blood seemed to trickle from the wound. Although the colour was wrong the substance seemed to evaporate within seconds of leaving the wound. She hissed at the two mortals. The man could not be more correct, their answer was very clear.
Within her moment of pain and alarm the fog barrier that had once blocked the alleyway from escape started to thin. Although the nightmares from the past and future awaited whoever entered the fog it was no long impassable. She had no time to reconstruct her wall, she would have to crush their hopes and dreams of survival right now. She released her shoulder and stood strong. Her voice remained the same still, the hoarse pitch of her voice the only real difference. "So be it, die for the angel who wrote you into this cruel world." The women slowly sank into the shadows on the concrete. All the grey fog disappeared within seconds, the sunshine seemed to filter through the alley as if nothing had happened.
Fear may have left but her power still hung in the air stronger than ever. The shadows in the alley seemed to shift ever so slightly, as if positioned for some kind of attack. Clotho would not leave this alley way alive, it would take a tremendous amount of power to destroy such a being. This power was not hers to control in this world. She could still taste her own pain as if it was yesterday. She would obtain Clotho if it was the last thing she did. It was unfortunate that she could not destroy the angel at such a time. In these moments of surprising silence it didn't take long for chaos to be unleashed once more. It was only for a moment but the occurrence would change the game plan for Clotho. The shadows had picked their target, the mortal should be honoured to be selected as bait. Nothing on this planet could contain a fate, capturing Clotho would be useless. She would need to be placed in the right situation for her to be destroyed off the face of the planet. The shadows slowly started to stretch towards Kurt. Within heartbeats the shadows within the alleyway had surround him, slowly starting to crawl up his body. Their touch was freezing as they slowly started to leach power from him.
The shadows engulfed him entirely, nothing could stop the crawling shadows. He would be used to flush out the angel, his time would come. The shadows covered him head to toe. With a giant pulse of power the shadows left Kurt, slowly crawling back to their normal positions. The only thing that changed was a small black spot on his right palm. He had been marked, he would be useful in due time. Fate would have to be patient. [/style] |

Kurt stood strong, though the mist began to vanish as well as the figure herself that slowly dipped into the recesses of the asphalt and completely out of his sight. The remnants she left were still quite raw and real. He began to relax when things looked moderately okay, but then they stretched towards him slowly, and Kurt felt that frozen feeling again. He desperately wanted to back away and run.
Kurt was then ambushed by the black shadows, slowly creeping up over his legs. He felt as if his skin was crawling, and then bugs were moving up his bare skin. He began to panic as any human would, trying to savagely rip the stuff off of him.
"Get off...." He panted, feeling exhausted, but fear kept him hyper-active to everything going on around him. His eyes widened. "...get off of me!!" He shouted, flailing and taking in a sharp intake of air as the shadows engulfed his body completely. A pulsation was felt, them leaving his body. Kurt fell to the ground, struggling to breathe. His lungs heaved, they felt cold, entirely, even if his body was at the normal body temperature. He laid on his back, eyes wide, he couldn't move.
His hand twitched, marked, branded with some curse. The sounds of him struggling to breathe could be heard by some passing by and immediately came to his aid. The only words he could utter?
"The girl...get....the...girl..!" He felt like a limp doll. The effects of that fearful power making him feel like an icicle, but as long as Clotho was safe...perhaps it was worth it. But the ominous mark on his palm did nothing to reassure him.
And then everything went black...passing out in a moment of silence.[/style]

[atrb=valign, top][style=border-left:4px solid #ffffff; font-size:10px; line-height:13px; padding-left:8px; text-align:justify; text-transform:lowercase; padding-right:8px;]Clotho moaned slightly as she could feel earth's influence on her body. She had no real time perception although she could tell the battle was long gone, her gut instincts no longer urging her onward. She took her time as she tried to regain her composure. Her head was throbbing which must have been pain. She smiled, she could feel pain. Although she felt the urge to pat herself on the back she knew there was more pressing matters. She scanned the alley way. Two bodies lie before her, she normally would have had a heart attack as they did seem rather lifeless. She could feel their heartbeats, their precious lives were still intact.
Clotho slowly got to her feet, wrapping the coat that was on top of her around her slim frame. Her small white wings were covered by the jacket, she hated how constricting it felt but the warmth it provided was exactly what her body craved. She took a deep breath before examining her two creations. They were both beautiful in their own was and she was powerless to help shape their new destinies. She had ripped their futures from them and now thrown them into this mess. She shut her eyes to help her think. She needed to run far away from here but could not leave them to die of the wicked cold that was starting to creep u[. She knew it was probably her sensitivity that was making it cold but it didn't matter since she couldn't really tell how they felt.
"Make a wish" She said silently as she walked over first to Nana and kissed her on the forehead. Her body slowly stared to disappear, she would appear wherever she considered home. She walked towards Kurt and did the same. Their bodies faded before Clotho got a chance to truly thank them and honour them for what they did for her. Clotho knew using her powers was a bad idea but it was her moral duty to honour her warriors. She whistled softly, out of thin air two white doves appeared before her. They circled each other effortlessly as she examined them with a small smile across her face. She didn't have to say a word for them to know what to do. The doves would find her warriors and deliver her message. Although the message was simple and would be heard in her voice they would hear it in their minds.
"Thank you for what you have sacrificed. It was not my heavenly duty to demand such things from you. Please forget me, there are forces at work who would like me harmed. Do not search for me, it is important that you try to return to your normal human lives. It may seem hard but I am sure our paths will cross in the future. Be sure to take care of yourself as your talents may be needed in the future. I hope to see you sooner rather than later."
With that she started to run towards the bright lights that the city held. She would need to find a place to stay and rest up. her power needed time to recharge. She had already spent too much of it just thanking her warriors. She sighed slightly knowing how much she had disappointed her sisters but they had no idea how hard it was to be stuck in the body of a human. She frowned as she could feel just how tired her body was. She would experience the human 'sleep.' She was so excited that she didn't notice just how fasts he was running. Cars zipped by as she ran to the coziest spot she could think of. Kurt wouldn't mind if she slept in his closet. It wasn't her fault that she craved the sleep. Besides, Kurt smelled nice.[/style] [STYLE=font-size:10px; padding-left: 12px; font-weight: bold]words: no idea... too lazy! tags: KEL & GLU notes:XD such a cutie credit: template made by oxymoron! of btn[/style] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign, top][atrb=style, width:400px, bTable][style=text-align:center;width:100px; font-family:courier new; font-size:10px; line-height:13px; border: 2px #ffffff solid; width: 100px; height: 100px;][/style]

With great characterization this is one of the stronger threads on TF. It is always easier and more fun to be the hero but I love how Kurt kept in character. I hope to see what fate has in store for Kurt! It is a huge shame that Kel has gone inactive. If she does come back before the next activity check she may gain THREE residue. I love the moment of when she is about to use her ability for the first time and results with it splashing on the ground uselessly. Nana has really made this thread and I really hope she comes back.[/style] |
