♠ THE PLOT NPCS

FATE . Fate is one of the many non-player characters on the site. Fate is an entity without a real form that goes around wreaking havoc because it had been corrupted by the selfish and destructive ways of humankind. Simply put, Fate is the “bad guy” on the site. Because Fate has no true form, characters will be interacting with Fate through the monsters and situations that Fate creates. So while you will never actually be interacting directly with Fate, Fate will be present and affecting things throughout the site.

DESTINY . Destiny is the other major non-player characters on the site. Like Fate, Destiny is an entity that is literally a source of power. It has no real form but is able to control things and affect the world of Twisted Fate. Unlike Fate, Destiny is working to stop the havoc and the further destruction of the planet. Destiny is the “good guy” on the site.

ROLE . The role of the two entities is to not only move the plot, but to also identify characters, create situations known as events, and just add elements of surprise in general. If Fate and/or Destiny are in a thread, monsters and dangerous situations are bound to happen. If you get confused about the concept of the entities, feel free to ask although it should be rather straightforward once you actually get into a thread with one of them.

♠ All About Events

HOW IT WORKS . Typically, events on Twisted Fate have to be released by the spending of residue. Once unlocked, they have a limited number of spots and characters are allowed into events on a first come first serve basis. However, sometimes there will be prerequisites that must be filled if you wish to participate. If you qualify for an event and decide to participate, you need to post in the event thread and follow the rules of the event. Often times, numbers will be used. In such a case, the admins ask that you say somewhere in your post what number you would like. It cannot be a number that another member has already claimed. The number you choose will determine your role in the event and will give you a task that you need to complete. Completing your task means greater rewards. Events are the fastest way to get identified, claimed, or awakened so be sure to keep and eye out for them.

FATE NUMBERS . In threads there will be moments where the victor needs to be determined. In order to do so, Twisted Fate uses a number system to decide who wins and who loses. This way it is more fair because it is based on chance and not on how it is roleplayed or a predetermined outcome. The way it works is that each character in the thread generates numbers based on their battle rank. The numbers are then placed into a random number generator. The number that is generated determines the winner of the battle. For example:

MONSTER: BATTLE RANK 1.00 vs CIVILIAN: BATTLE RANK 0.50
becomes
MONSTER (1234) vs CIVILIAN (56) NUMBER GENERATED: 4; MONSTER VICTORY

If necessary, staff can reevaluate the numbers. Losing in battle does not necessarily mean death. Your characters can run away although they may or may not be unscathed. Unplanned death would only occur if it is roleplayed out in such a way that it was unavoidable. An example might be say your character fell over and lost to a monster. That person would most likely be killed if they cannot get away. Even then, death is avoidable to some degree so just do your best.

As a note, battle ranks are updated on your profile by the admins. The rankings proceed as follows:
CIVILIAN . 0.50
IDENTIFIED . 0.50 - 1.50
CLAIMED . 0.50 - 1.75
AWAKENED . 1.00 - 4.00

DEATH . Death is a very real possibility on Twisted Fate. Any character in a thread with one of the Admin run NPCs have the possibility of getting killed. It will be roleplayed out so if death is near and you are able to skillfully roleplay it out, death can be avoided. (Of course when we say roleplay, we mean actual roleplay and not godmodding.) The admins will make note of which situations have high chances for death. In the case that your character did die, and said dead character was your only character we ask that you please create another character. There is the possibility that your character will be brought back to life but the chances of that are slim to none so please do not bet on that.

EVENT TYPES . There are many types of events, each one with their own frequency, rewards, and ways to participate. The types of events are: Site events, Random Encounters, Impedio Society Events, Solo Events, Random Events, and Plot Events.
SITE EVENTS . Site events are large events that happen every few months. They have a theme, and are not necessarily connected to the main plot. They can range from very plot oriented (a monster with a vendetta against a kingdom), or being completely random (a sitewide genderswap event). Site events are intended to have large groups of people RPing with each other, as well as giving you a chance to earn extra residue. The chance of claiming, identifying, and awakening in a site event is almost nonexistant.

RANDOM ENCOUNTERS . Random encounters are the smallest type of events, and are generally used to reintroduce old enemies, as well as revealing minor plot details. They are purchased with residue in the residue shop. Generally, they spice up a thread, finishing within a few posts. An example would be a fire elemental briefly attacking a group of civilians before fleeing for it's life. Threads with a random encounter will earn one or two extra residue upon completion. There is very little chance of an identification, claiming, or awakening happening during a random encounter.

IMPEDIO SOCIETY EVENTS . Impedio Society Events tend to focus around and include members of the Impedio Society. In general, the majority of members involved will be Impedio Society Members, but on occasion civilians will get drawn in as well. They are run semi-regularly by the staff, but can also be rarely found in event residue packs. These events can be used to either push the plot along, or to enhance Impedio Society member items. There is no chance of identification, claiming, or awanening.

SOLO EVENTS . These events are generally made with a single character in mind, and can generally be found in an event pack. They connect a single charater to the plot of the site, and will generally give that character some sort of hint or connection to what is going on around them. They provide a fair chance of identification, claiming, and awakening.

RANDOM EVENTS . These are not to be confused with random encounters, these events are generally open, and can be either made by staff or found in an event pack. These events are notable because they do not connect directly to the site plot, and while they might get a character involved in the plot itself, they are not directly tied to it. There is a good chance of identification, claiming, or awakening in these events.

PLOT EVENTS . Plot events are similar to random events. They can be either made or found in event pack, but they connect strongly to the site plot. They can be extremely demanding on the characters involved, and are some of the most dangerous types of events. These events have a good chance of identification, claiming, or awakening the characters involved.

♠ All About The Impedio Society

HISTORY & ROLE . The Society was formed to protect normal humans from ever being controlled by those with magical powers again. The war had revealed the dark side of human nature and their powers. As a result, the Society deemed that those with powers were at risk of losing control and becoming a danger to themselves and the those around them. At first, the group had one goal: remove all with powers from high ranks in the kingdom. Luckily most agreed to this new change because all the Nobles were dead and anyone else left had become tired and wanted to rest peacefully. For those that put up a fight, the Society dealt with them by capturing or killing them. This went on for years, till things finally started to settle down. After that the Society became more like watchers, keeping an eye over humanity for generations to prevent anyone of being awakened. However, Fate would not leave the past alone and would attempt to reawaken those with powers in order to gain control of the Earth. The Society found that the only way to stop Fate was to find those that had strong links to the past and, for lack of a better word, eliminate them. Now in the present with three new leaders, the Society has taken to doing things a bit differently. There are some that not all awaken humans are uncontrollable or bad, and that maybe only watching them will be enough. But with the recent awakening happening and the events taking place all over Los Angeles, the Society's hand will soon be forced. They will make a stand and protect the planet, no matter what the cost.

MAKING A SOCIETY MEMBER . When making a Society member please keep in mind that most members were born into the ways of the Society. Typically, an already established society member had a strict upbringing, basic combat training, private schooling or home schooling, and history lessons on the kingdoms making everyday life a bit different for these characters. When making your character think about what role they and their family hold within the Society. Do they supply resources such as food, money, ancient magical items? Do they contribute in some a notable way that helps the Society's endeavors? If you are stumped and need ideas please feel free to PM Jess, she is more them willing to brainstorm with you.

ONE rule – you MUST have an already-established character on the site in order to make an Impedio character! This means you should have been around for a few weeks, have been posting consistantly, and generally shown that you can handle it. The majority of Impedio Society characters will begin at the lowest rank and must work their way up in character. If you wish to start with a higher ranked character, you must gain admin permission, and have a good reason for it.

JOINING WITH AN EXISTING CHARACTER . First thing to note is that only human characters will be allowed into this group. No claimed, identified, or awakened allowed. Having that said, to join, your character would have to make contact with the Society and be invited in. Normally, only people that have had run ins with Fate and held their own will be graced with an invitation into the Society.

MAGICAL ITEMS . When making your character, you are allowed to have one magical item if your character has reason to have one. Magical items are normally handed down by family members or by the Society to those that have earned them. If your character is not battle ready or has no reason to ever be in danger of fighting a Fate creature or an awakened character, then it is unlikely that they will have a magical item. If you do have one, please keep these guidelines in mind:

1. Magical items are hardly made because the items needed to make an enchanted item are very hard to find. Also, in order to enchant an item, the item would need a magical enchanter to give the item power. The only known enchanter is Lupus.

2. Since many of these items would have been enchanted during the time of the kingdoms, the magical items should therefore be antiquated and reasonably so. There will be no enchanted guns or cell phones without some reasoning behind it.

3. We are giving you the freedom to use your imagination when coming up with a basic description of your item. Your description should include what it might do and where it came from. Once again keep this within reason. If this right is abused, the admins will be forced to start making and handing out items instead of allowing members to come up with their own ideas. With that in mind, the item's limits, weaknesses, rank numbers, power details, and other info will be made by the admin once you are accepted.

4. There are normally three types of items: Defensive, Offensive, and Passive. All items will be labeled as such by the admin, and will be given an item rank that can be raised over time. Some events done by (Dani) will give characters and opportunity to raise their battle ranks. Item ranks are the same as battle ranks but these numbers fluctuate between .50 to 4.00. Most new items are between .50-.75, though there are chances of these numbers being more within the right reasons.

THE SOCIETY RANKS There are a few ranks / places within the Society. At the top are the three Consuls. They serve as the leaders of the Impedio Society. Next in rank is the Administrator, or second-in-command. The Administrator is followed by the Patricians. Patricians are people that have set roles that they are experts in. Examples of these roles include hunters, finance managers, watchers, etc. Anyone that has an important role that helps keep the Society running smoothly are potential Patricians. Lastly, we have the Plebeians. Most Plebians are part of the Society because their bloodline traces back to the time of the kingdoms and they are descendants of kingdom civilians. All others are those that accepted the Society's invitation to join them. These are usually people that the Society has a use for or they survived attacks by Fate.
