[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true][atrb=style, background-color: #fff; width: 300px; padding: 10px, bTable] Len was surprised when maids welcomed him in. Not waitresses, but maids. Or, at least, women wearing maid costumes. They welcomed him in, saying something in Japanese that he didn't quite understand. So this was where Joze worked? He and Joze may not be as close as when they were young, but he was still biologically her brother. And he sure as hell didn't like the fact that Joze was prancing around in one of those silly, short maid costumes, a bunch of perverts trying to take a peek under her skirt at her underwear. He cringed at the very thought of it.
He tugged on his earplugs and stuffed his iPod in his pocket. He forced himself to smile at the maids, who were beaming from ear to ear. He was tired from over thinking everything and beating himself up on the inside. "Um... is Joze here?" he questioned, taking a glance around the cafe. It's sad to say that he's never really been inside, though he used to drop and pick Joze up from work before. Actually... he didn't even realize the name of the place was Happy Maid Cafe until now. "I'm her brother. I need to talk to her about... something." And what exactly was that something? He wasn't quite sure himself. Maybe he just wanted to see her. They've haven't really seen each other in a while; which is sad considering that they live in a shoebox that basically has no escapes.
Sometimes he wished that they could go back to normal; the same way they were a couple of years ago. Len was protective of Joze, Joze looked up to Len as an older brother. Everything was just dandy. "Fuck," he muttered the words softly to himself. Be hated thinking about this - it only reminded him of how much of a screw up he was. He wished that he could apologize, sincerely, and fix everything. But who was he kidding? It wouldn't be enough. He's tried it before. Joze still hates his guts. He ruined the family; everybody knew it. Their bond was shattered like glass because of Len and his stupid pride. And now it was impossible to fix.

[/div][/td][td][atrb=style, padding-top: 2px] Work was work, just fine and dandy. Nothing more, nothing less. Just a place where she could find an income. Of course, she had grown used to the smiles and the customers. For the most part, they would abide by the rules, but there were always those few... Nah, they usually went for the others, anyways. She wasn't those cute girls that were always friendly and nice and could actually fill in the uniform. Ah... her chest. Maybe she'd have gotten more tips if only it would just grow a little more. Well, she couldn't force it, and some were nice enough to tip anyways.
It was a normal enough day, greeting customers in her poorly accented Japanese and serving customers their various drinks and desserts... and then decorating it for them. Nothing short of embarrassing, but no one she knew really knew that she worked here. No one, important, anyways. Well, maybe Len did, but he didn't count. He was too thick to notice what kind of cafe this was when he dropped her off to work before. After all, knowing him, he'd have commented on it. Ah, why was she thinking about him on a day like today? She needed to focus on the customers. "Hey, Joze, can you go to the back and prepare the drinks? I'll take over for you."
Joze nodded and went to the back. A message sent from heaven - she really didn't want to smile at people who were trying to get in her pants those perverts. She reveled in being sent back, but usually the earlier shifts got too... ah, school was just awful sometimes. She only had a few days until the weekend too. She mixed the milk into the coffee, repeating an action practiced a thousand times. Still wasn't as bad as kneeling and decorating patterns in front of the customers, though. And Joze really hoped that she didn't get any requests for her today, either.
"Joze, someone's looking for you out there." Ack, already? "I'll be there in a minute. Al, can you take over the drinks?" The chef nodded as she walked out to the customers. Great just what did they want- oh great. What the heck was he doing here? Of all days too, she was having such a great time back in the kitchen mixing drinks instead of socializing with a bright smile on her face. But of course, she couldn't just lose her composure right there in front of the customers, so cue her walk of shame. She just hated the fact that he had to see her like this, it was so humiliating. When she got to the table, her near-blinding smile turned seething as she turned away from the others. Whoever had the good sense to sit him near a wall, she was thankful for. "What do you want?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,10,true][atrb=style, background-color: #fff; width: 300px; padding: 10px, bTable] He looked at her and raised a brow at her maid uniform. He came up with around eight reasons that she shouldn't be working at the Happy Maid cafe, just from looking at her in the outfit. Still, he tried to keep positive. He even offered a smile. "Uh... n-ice uniform," he suggested, awkwardly trying to lighten the mood but obviously failing miserably. He wasn't exactly sure on what to say. Sorry? He had tried that already. It didn't work. It wasn't good enough. He still wanted to fix things before them, but he didn't want to make a scene out here in public. He couldn't talk to her in private, either, because Joze won't bother conversing with him at home.
Biting down on his lip, Len pondered, trying to phrase his words into a sentence. "I have to talk to you about something..." he started, stuttering on a few letters, toying with his fingers, and trying to choke out the words. He didn't even remember what he wanted to tell her. Or maybe he didn't even want to tell her anything. Maybe he just wanted to see her, for once. Len already knew that an answer like that wouldn't be good enough. It would only infuriate her even more, considering that time was money. "Erm..." he tried to think of words, but his mind was simply blank.
"...I mean, can't we just talk?" he asked her, looking at her hopefull. Please. We haven't talked in forever. At least, not in a friendly way. Their conversations always ended with both of them shouting "I hate you" at each other; using those ugly words and chucking them at each other like they really did hate each other. Did they? He just wanted a good old banter with his little sister. Was it too much to ask?

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=width,350,true][cs=2] seems like you turned into an invisible man unexpected phenomenon [/style] | [atrb=style, width: 100px; padding-top: 10px;][atrb=valign,top][style=font: normal 10px courier new; text-transform: uppercase; text-align: center; color: #878787;]APRIL FIFTH THURSDAY |
[/div][/td][td][atrb=style, padding-top: 2px] What an inconvenient time. If he really did want to talk, couldn't it have waited until she got home? That would have been much more logical in the long run - especially since he was taking time out of her shift and therefore making her lose her money. As a direct result, it meant less money for the family and less food on the table. Honestly, what did he except her to do? Take off her shift immediately or something? There were customers to be served, and it was a miracle that this place could do without another worker. Usually they were packed and she was on her feet.
Well, it wasn't so much the fact that he had come here during work that frustrated her. In fact, if anything, it meant it was urgent. But obviously it wasn't looking at his demeanor. Some people had lives - not that he would know. What was he trying to do now, reason with her? They were beyond reason now. And wasn't there some better way? Now that he had seen her in this embarrassing attire, he would have to pay. Diplomacy hadn't worked before. It wouldn't work now. "Nice uniform? Is that all you can say? Did you drag yourself here just to tell me how nice my uniform was? Thanks." She bit back her tongue. Maybe that sounded a bit too sarcastic? Joze could go without a fight in her workplace, with all the people and customers.
"Something? Real specific there." Sure, she was being unreasonably mean, but she justified it with how horrible he had treated her. Make amends? Was he even capable of that? Just thinking about it gave her a headache.
"Aren't we talking now? What do you want to talk about. I assure you, I'm all ears." Except she wasn't - not really. She was letting her prejudice against her brother cloud her judgement. Well, it wasn't like she could change that, but what other solution was there? Be all buddy-buddy with him and call it quits after everything that happened? No. That wasn't happening, that's for sure. Even if he gave up being stubborn, she wouldn't. Because for some odd reason she reveled in these fights. What a bad sister she was, but it wasn't like there was any chance they'd make up. So she felt slightly less guilty by that fact. But still. She did feel somewhat guilty.
And what was with that expression? Len was making her feel more bad. Like she needed more of that. Just the hopeful expression... when was the last time she had seen her brother like that? She grit her teeth in an attempt to stay strong. She could not be swayed as easily as such. Think about all the unforgivable things he's done, Joze. But... she could literally feel the guilt poor over her shoulders in one huge wave. Why... why did it have to be in a public place?!
