For the past tendays in a row, Alec had been miserably stuck at work stocking shelves and straightening displays. Could they even legally make him work ten consecutive days? Probably, but Alec didn't care anymore now that he was enjoying his first day off in a long time. His mood couldn't have lifted any more than right now, though - he was back at work (oh no!) cashing his paycheck (hooray!). With a pocket full of money and nothing to spend it on, Alec roamed around the grocery department looking for something he could cook later that evening. At first he began browsing the familiar shelves of food he was used to eating - top ramen, mexican seasoning packets for tacos, among many other items. Then it dawned on him. "Well hell I'll just buy something good since I can afford it!"
The sun was pretty bright outside, which meant that the weather was fairly warm. Alec had no desire to go frollicking haphazardly in the lillies out there because of his allergies, so staying inside was his most amusing form of entertainment. Alec was dressed in a pair of khaki cargo shorts that fell just below his knees, a loose cardinal t-shirt that was neatly tucked into his shorts, and a pair of solid black tennis shoes that was a half size too large. He would stand out if he spoke to any of his co workers today, but he didn't mind - he was off duty and there was nobody that would call him into work today! It was enough to give the boy a permanent cheese for the day, so anyone that noticed him today would likely think he had gone insane.
Alec returned to the front of the store, snagged a shopping cart, and nearly ran over some customers on his way back to the land of milk and honey (or one would think). On his way back, he stopped by the deli and selected some boneless wings, thinking about some side dishes that would be perfect matches. For beverages, he loaded up on Diet Coke; yes, Alec was that weird kid who practically begged for diet sodas. He had never been shopping like this before, despite being a grown man so to speak, so he took his time and searched with great detail. While there were no refridgerated items in his cart, he still made room for some of the more healthy choices, like raw vegetables and the like. Originally Alec avoided the "cheap" aisle, as he had recently named it, but now he felt empty...How was he supposed to go home without buying some ramen? The boy practically grew up on that stuff! Ignoring his newfound love for real food, he returned to that familar, smelly aisle and began searching through the different types of ramen. This was the fun part!
All his attention was focused on the wide display of sodium-saturated noodles when a lady came by and pushed his cart, throwing the boy off balance and sending him face first into the shelf. Immediately, he righted himself and tried to lock his alarmed eyes with the shelf, desperately praying that no one saw his crimson face nor his graceful faceplant. He seemed to have a knack for knocking himself in the noggin...

The hulking red head groaned slightly with each step he took. It had been a few weeks since he was released from the hospital, yet his ribs still twinged with pain Everytime he started to work out. He had been or ing himself to go these past few weeks, out of fear of losing muscle tone. His body protested, but his heart and mind agreed it had to be done. So he popped a few extra pain killers and set to work ignoring doctor's advice.
It almost never got tiresome, the looks he got as he walked around places that went a gym. As per usual he was wearing a tank top, shorts and sandals. He had a style and he stuck to it, only because he wasn't sure how else to shop. He grabbed a cart from the front and wheeled it over to the grocery area. He was running low on food and protein powders. He didn't expect Walmart to carry what he needed, but it was worth a shot.He wouldn't lie, he was a brand whore when t came down to supplements. But first things first, he needed food.
In the grocery section he began his usual hunt. He had a good two hundred dollars set aside for for and supplements, and he knew a good one hundred and twenty would be used on powders alone. He stopped for a moment, blinking. Two hundred... Minus one twenty... That was uh... Hmmm... Uh.... Sixty! Yeah, sixty! He nodded and walked down the vegetable section, grabbing an onion and a few stalks of broccoli. Bananas were always a good options, though pricey. He'd have to skip on the meat... At least the powders would give him the extra boost. As he wandered past an aisle he heard a loud clatter from his left. He look over, seeing a young man who's face beet red and a pompous looking lady walking past. He walked over to the kid and tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey, you alright?" He said to the dazed looking man.

The sound of a manly voice along with the rapping of fingers on his shoulder sent Alec into a slight heart attack. Someone had noticed! He muttered something under his breath that sounded vaguely like a few familiar swear words, but they were inaudible. His body immediately went rigid, his face paralyzed with fear. It took about four seconds for him to turn and look at the...oh. Oh dear. This man was very well-toned. For some reason unbeknownst to Alec, something about him made him just want to curl up into his bulging chest and stay there for hours. Then he realized that he was staring wide-eyed at this chest. His face went up and met the ginger's light brown eyes and smiled apologetically. "Oh, hello! Y-you startled me, that's all." With his face still reddened from his odd incident, he smiled and scratched the back of his neck nervously.
"M-me? I'm okay! Thank you for asking." Breathe. Breathe. BREATHE DAMNIT YOU'RE GOING TO PASS OUT! It took a few more seconds before he was able to calm himself down and speak coherently. "I think someone just shoved their way through the aisle 'cause my cart hit me and knocked me into the shelf...Not the most graceful sort of thing, right?" He was trying to be nice to the man, but it seemed to flow so naturally. For some reason, he felt that he could trust the man. No it wasn't quite that - he wanted to trust the man. For a moment, he couldn't believe that he was thinking it, but the man was gorgeous. His body was absolutely amazing, and judging by the way he was dressed, he knew it too. Alec could also see a sort of fire in the man's eyes - it could have just been the way the light cast a slight shadow, but he definitely thought he could see something sparkling. After that moment, it just made sense.
Alec was attracted to this man, and it confused the hell out of him.

Lucas looked down at the young man, blinking a little. The kid was staring up at him and stammering. The redhead guessed it was a natural reaction. How often do you get an imposing man like himself tapping your shoulder? Lucas chuckled a little and flexed his exposed arms slightly. Was he trying to intimidate the kid further, yeah, but for fun! It wasn't like he was trying to make the kid piss himself. He was just having fun.
“I startled you? But I'm huge.” He said with a slight frown. How does something huge sneak up and startled someone? Lucas folded his arm along his chest and began to ponder this. He scratched the side of his head, unable to think of how this could happen. He almost blew a fuse. “Ehh.. never mind that. And you sure, cause you look like you've seen a ghost.” He said, looking down at the kid. He was maybe a foot shorter, and kinda scrawny. Well... everyone was scrawny compared to Lucas.
“You sure you're ok?” Lucas was starting to feel concerned.

Now that he had discovered what this weird source of pulling was, he had to figure out how to erase it. He wasn't going to be caught up liking another guy - that was just plain weird! This never happened before, so why would it start now? He never really sat down to think about relationships or love or anything of the sort because he assumed he had no interest in neither male nor female. In high school, he didn't really get close to anyone minus a few good friends of his, but nothing of the romantic type. But something about the gentle giant in front of him just radiated strong. That had to be it because Alec always wanted to be a big, strong guy, but instead he grew up to be a shrimpy kid. So maybe he wasn't attracted to Lucas, but instead simply envious of his bulging muscles.
His heart rate finally returned to normal, and his face began fading back to its natural shade of pale. "Yeah I think I'm good now. Thanks. It's not every day you turn around and find someone nearly twice as tall and ten times as muscular tapping you on your shoulder and asking if you're alright, especially when the person is a shrimpy pale kid like me. I mean my god how did you get so HUGE? Genes?"
And that's when Alec mentally slapped himself. He was so good at making things weird - why did he have to do that now? Who asks someone how they got so huge anyway? Apparently Alec does because now the man was going to eye him weirdly, maybe even walk away without saying a word. He never seemed to be good with words, but he didn't seem to be improving either. One day, he'd have to enroll at a social skills class somewhere to maybe learn how to talk and act with strangers.
But looking at this from the outside would have been highly entertaining. Enter the sexy, muscular Lucas in search of whey protein and other cheap foods when he comes across a teenager, faceplanted into a shelf with a mortified look on his face. The man goes to ask if he's alright and the boy nearly has a heart attack because someone saw him. Then, after calming down and talking to the man, he realizes that he opened his big mouth and ask him something that probably should have been worded differently. Fate was definitely not on Alec's side today...

Lucas noticed that the boy was looking paler, he guess the rush of embarrassment wore of. Lucas cocked a smile and nodded slowly. He was happy to know the kid was ok, and uninsured, and couldn't help but let out a thunderous burst of laughter, just a short one. "Kid, I think I know what you mean. I'd probably feel the same way."
Once more Lucas laughed, his chest rising and falling with each chuckle. "Spot on, kiddo. Fifty percent genetics and one hundred percent hard work. Going to the gym won't make you taller, god does." he said, as a kind smile returned to his face. The poor guy looked like he was set to faint at any moment. Nerves would do that. Lucas remembered he faired once, during his first ever competition. He didn't sleep the night before, just pumped iron constantly.
Lucas looked down casually at the boys cart, then the shelves. Raman noodles? The hell were those? He picked one out of kiddo's cart and read the back. ""Kid... The hell are you eating this crap for? It's nothing but gluten, sodium and carbs. No protein at all!" the bodybuilder sent the package flying towards Alec with a flick of his wrist. Why... Why was he testing the little guy?
Lucas looked the boy up and down again. He didn't have mucho work with, and lacked the broad shoulders that's defined strong men. Nah...this kid was a lost cause. Why did he care!? Lucas looked panicked for a moment the shook his head, grabbing his cart. He grabbed a bottle of "Crea-pro". A safe alternative to steroids if he ever knew one. "Here kid. Give this a try. It'll replace one meal a day, just mix it with water, or any healthy smoothie drink you like." He tossed the bottle into the kid's cart and started to walk away. For some reason... Lucas hoped he'd follow.

The young man seemed to be pretty nice. He was nice enough to stop and ask the boy if everything was okay, after all, so he couldn't have been that bad. Alec just hadn't expected someone so big to stop and check on him. When he spoke, too, his voice was fairly deep, which caught him off guard. And then Lucas laughed. Alec couldn't help but to think that if he could hear God's voice, that's what he would sound like. But the man was so relaxed and easy going that Alec couldn't help but to close his eyes and smile with him. Maybe today would be a wonderful day after all!
"Yeah I guess I didn't get the tall gene anywhere...but working out? Goodness I never really thought much about it." There was no reason to lie to the man - the idea of working out and bulking up just never came up to him. Sure it would have been nice to look like a Greek god, but he never thought about investing the time and effort into it. But he was about to be in for a big surprise. Lucas eyed his cart and the shelf before snatching a bag of ramen out and throwing it at him. The man didn't realize his own strength and speed because before Alec could reach out to catch it, the bag hit Alec in the chest and exploded, leaving salty dried noodles all over the floor. Alec quickly looked around in hopes that nobody saw that, breathed a sigh of relief, and picked up the paper and set it back on the shelf.
"Well...I've grown up poor a- Hey wait up!" Some sort of protein was placed into his cart and the man took flight. Alec, confused as ever, turned his cart and began chasing after the man. Who was he to tell him what he could and couldn't eat? That wasn't very nice at all. But then again, he couldn't be mad at the guy - he was only trying to look out for the teen. Instead of getting frustrated, Alec was determined to find out what the guy's goal was. In reality, this gave him a good excuse to follow the guy and talk with him some more. He even snuck a peek at the guy's butt, which really struck him as weird because he never really looked at an ass before. But he had to admit...It did look nice.
"What's this for? Why are you giving this to me, a stranger that you don't even know? It doesn't make sense."

Lucas grinned as he heard the wheels of a cart following him, as well as a tiny voice call out after him. "Why? Well. I noticed how you looked at me. Something tells me you want to be like me." he stopped and turned around, looking at Alec with a cheeky smirk. Americans were funny. They never trusted a stranger.
"you look like a good kid, so I thought I'd help you out. Uhh oh! Here! Pass me your phone, I'll program myself in, so if you want to go to the gym or want help with working out." Lucas held out his hand, encouraging the kid to hand his over.

[/style] Quite oblivious to what was going on, Alec handed his phone over to the stranger. Sadly, he was one of the few Americans left that would actually trust a total stranger. Maybe it was because it was super naive, or maybe he was just a good-natured boy raised with the right morals and ideals. That, of course, was up for discussion. But he smiled as he passed his smartphone to Lucas, praying silently that he wasn't a mad man that planned to sprint away with his my precious valuable. He had the tendency to believe things that were a bit out of the ordinary.
"Um...Thanks I guess. I was kinda admiring your physique because I've always been a scrawny guy, and working out would probably give me a big boost of confidence, but I'd never seriously considered starting." It was always like that, though. He always thought It cool but never went through the steps and visualized a goal for himself. Now, a stranger had taken a sudden interest in him and his own aerobic skills. Alec couldn't help but to wonder if this was just some strange coincidence or if there actually was a hidden motive behind the ginger's kind yet abrupt actions.
He couldn't say that he minded. After all, the guy had to know his stuff. And he had a nice ass. Yeah Alec would definitely have to take him up on this offer. Now all that was left was to decide how much time and effort he was willing to put into this. He could easily just skirt it off and only train once per week, but if it meant seeing Lucas a bit more often, he'd have to just keep at it.
After all, behind every great body builder was a personal trainer. In this case it was a personal trainer. Bulging biceps. Great smile. Manly voice. With a nice ass. This was going to be fun fun fun...

Lucas felt his cheeks flush ever so slightly at the complement. It always made him happy to know he was admired. "My dad kind of forced me into it, and I think most people need a kick in the pants to get started, but once you start seeing results, you'll get hooked, I'm sure. Heck if your really hooked I might even see you at a competition." Lucas was exaggerating, but confidence was a fragile thing. He knew that well.
He stared at the device for a moment, trying to make heads or tails of the phone. He haphazardly pushed a few buttons and made it to the contacts section. He fumbled with w buttons as he entered his cellphone number into the kid's phone. He wasn't really sure why, but he liked having Alec around.
"there we go! I'm entered in. Just text or call me if you want to hit the gym with me sometime, ok? I'll cover your first visit." Lucas said with a grin as he handed the phone back. Lucas chuckled a little, paused for a moment, then frowned. Why in the world did he... He grunted to himself and grabbed his cart again, making his way back to the pharmaceutical section to grab anew bottle of "Crea-pro".

Alec stared as the ginger fumbled around with his phone, smiling inwardly. The man was probably not that focused on technology and wasn't up with the latest software for phones, but who could really baleen him? Alec would give up his technological know-how if it meant being his size and being in shape. His admiration for the young man was great, even though he had just met him. That was the sort of impact you could have on a young man whenever you were a half giant.
"Um thanks...but I still don't know you." Alec pushed his cart alongside Lucas, doing his best to keep up and keep the conversation as best as he could. This was all so...sudden yet it sounded amazing. He didn't know exactly how he wanted to process it all! For him, though, he had a great gut feeling, so he was going to go with it and just hope for the best. "Don't get me wrong I really am appreciative but this is just so weird. I come to buy food on my day off and this big hunk- I-I mean guy just tells me that he w-will help me start working out. What else am I supposed to think?"
Crap. There he goes again...

Lucas growled to himself as he pushed his cart along. He was acting far too strange for his own liking. Here he was offering to help a complete stranger for free. All becasue the he liked the look of the kid. He slowed slowly and looked down at the floor for a moment. As if if panicked he picked up the pace, hearing a squeaking behind him. The kid was following again. Earlier it was what he wanted, but know it scared him. This kid was bringing out feelings he never wanted. He was a man, men were supposed to feel this way for women. Not for other men. He shuddered at the thought, trying to ignore everything in his mind, and think of nothing. Nothing wouldn't come. He attempted to flood his mind with random thought and images like a channel surfer flicking through all the stations.
A small voice turned the TV in his mind off.
”Uh... Yeah I guess not. I don't really know myself anymore. He tried to show how he was thinking, that voice he thought with in the back of his mind sounded as nervous as he did. What in the world was wrong with him. He knew he had already hit the gym today, but he was probably going to go back. Only place he could forget everything.
“I suppose it is rather sudden, man. I guess I'm not really good with social... uh... social... hmm... it uh... the word starts with “N” I think. Something about following social rules I guess.” Again his face flushed when he was called a hunk. He wished it would stop, and that this whole thing never happened. Maybe he shouldn’t have left home. ”Kid, I can;t tell you what to think. Hell I can;t even tell myself what to think. Just... call me yeah, if you uh... want to hit the gym or something.” He said as he grabbed his cart once more, wheeling himself to the check out. He'd grab the powder later, maybe even just grab the stuff from the gym. He just wanted to be away from this kid for now.
He just wanted to stop thinking.

That guy was actually awfully strange, but there wasn't much that Alec could do or say to make him feel better. It seemed like the problem was him, but how in the world could that be? Only moments ago he was the one to come up to Alec and introduce himself while checking on him. He was the one that put protein powder stuff in his cart. He was the one that programmed his number into Alec's phone before scurrying off. What did that mean, anyway? Were they supposed to be good friends, or just trainer and worker outer...well, he didn't know what the term would be. It confused Alec more than anything.
The teenage boy stopped and listened to this "mentor" ramble on for a bit, something about social n and stuff. He had no idea what the man was getting at, but he pieced together something about terrible at conversations. Alec guessed that he meant conversations with strangers, which was perfectly normal for anyone. He wasn't dumb, but when it came to figuring out a blubbering, gym-fanatic guy he was a bit clueless. It was apparent that this ginger was ready to leave, and Alec wouldn't bar his path just becuase of some awkward exchanges.
"Alright I'll just...chat with you later I guess. Thanks for everything and it was nice to meet you." His words were carried through the empty air, hopefully reaching the man as he hurried along. Alec stood there and watched him walk away, feeling a bit odd himself. Emotions welled up inside of him so heavily that he was almost overwhelmed; there was no way he was going to believe he was attracted to the man. Now that he was leaving, Alec could return back to his normal routine and not worry about feeling that way around him.
Besides, he felt a bit lightheaded, but that was probably only because he was late getting some food in his stomach. His heart was also beating a bit faster, but that whole ordeal did throw Alec off guard. Sweaty palms couldn't have been more than trying to rapidly shift from one topic to another and push a heavy cart around corners to keep up with him through half of the grocery department. It was all just coincidince that this was happening, all at the same time.
Right?
