Katie paused slightly to check the time. Although she was in the process of balancing four plates within her arms she glanced over to see that she still had too much time on her shift for her liking. She took a deep breath, she just had half an hour before she got her break. She marched over to the table where a family of four sat awaiting their food. Their voices quickly going silent as Katie approached their table. She easily placed the food in front of the appropriate persons, most waitresses would make an attempt to speak or make their customers welcome but Katie simply placed the food down and turned to leave. Most people would consider it an awkward silence but Katie didn't feel the urge to speak, she had nothing nice to say so she would hold her tongue. She started to walk away, she might as well allow them to talk behind her back. She heard the mother of the family start to whisper to the father. "I shall get you a refill." Katie's response was flat. The woman had complained her glass being empty, Katie was not magic nor was she bionic. People just didn't understand the social grace of talking shit behind peoples backs when they could not hear you. She simply was running low of nerves for this family to step on.
She walked away coldly, not lingering at the table any longer than she had to. One day she would not have to work and that would be the day she would stuff Chinese food down people's throat and ask them if they had any manners. She could care less about the family that currently talked about her, in all honesty she just felt bad for the next person that would fall pry to the family but Katie had no choice but to tolerate them. She hated being a waitress, she didn't mind the technicalities of her job. Sometimes staying late to close, carrying heavy plates to tables with grace and poise so she wouldn't drop it on other patrons. She hates the suited audience for her job, why were people such assholes? Katie pushed through the double doors that clearly read staff only. She walked towards her locker, she had maybe three minutes before she had to do anything, the little bitch could wait for a glass of water. Her locker opened easily, the dial lock opening within her hand without her actually thinking about the combo. She sighed slightly as she opened her locker to see her casual clothes hanging neatly from a hook. The mirror on the door of the locker made everything seem dull as it was the only decoration within the locker. She refused to decorate the thing, she knew she wanted to move on. Things were always easier if there was no personal attachment.
Her sad smile was reflected back at her, her blond hair pulled into a half up half down combination. The low pony tale only contained the piece of hair that would otherwise get in her way, she knew it was out of style but who was she trying to impress. She straightened her uniform slightly, the collar of her white blouse was starting to cause her neck to itch. With that she slammed her locker shut, the woman would get her stupid refill, it might tone down her bitch pills. Katie walked towards the kitchen, absent midedly grabbing the pitcher of water. As she walked towards the family one more she gave them the fakest smile she could muster. She poured the water into the woman's glass like she didn't hate her guts, which means she set the pitcher on the table and walked away. There was only so much acting she could do. She walked towards a table that had recently been unoccupied and started to collect the dirty dishes. It wasn't her job to clean up but she had nothing better to do since that saturday evening was pretty uneventful, apparently not a lot of people wanting Chinese food. Katie glanced towards the clock, fifteen more minutes before her break.

[/div][/td][td][atrb=style, padding-top: 2px] After work was a nice time indeed. When the only thing that could occupy Joze's mind was work, she knew that something was wrong. Sure, it was a Saturdayday and she was working, but usually had something else on her mind other than how crappy her job was. Smiling to the customers was all fine and dandy, of course. They meant no harm towards her and they were rather benevolent people (most of the time, anyways). They respected the code of honor and almost justified her wearing this ridiculous maid costume. Almost - she didn't quite like how the skirt was so short. Eh, she supposed they could look if they wanted - no harm there. As long as they didn't do anything.
The end of her shift was fast approaching, and she couldn't be more glad. She could finally shed this stupid costume (although she did have to admit, her co-workers did look rather cute in them), and go home. No, she had to make a stop somewhere else first. Saturday... well, she had to drop by Chinatown. Hell, she'll probably eat dinner there, despite her current money situation. Anything for an excuse to go back into that restaurant. She was already counting down the clock and awaiting her leave. It was only five minutes. But those five minutes couldn't have passed by any longer than they did. She took refuge in the kitchen as the minutes ticked by, mixing the drinks instead of serving them. It wasn't like the others minded, they paid attention to their own things.
Five minutes up, costume off, and jacket on, Joze found herself on the way towards the Chinese restaurant. It was only a ten minutes bike ride, and although it was the complete opposite direction from her own house, she sought to go there anyways. What was waiting for her at home anyways? An argument and maybe a lonely dinner. Besides, it had been quite a while since she saw her past tutor, and she never could give her enough thanks for all the help she had been. Even if her tutor was a class A bitch. Still Joze couldn't pass up the chance. Sure, Katie was only a couple of years older but it was always nice seeing the girl.
Though, she sure was mean to her sometimes. In some ways she even reminded her of her brother, but to compare the two would be an insult to the girl she looked up to so. The atmosphere around her was a little bit cold, being nighttime and all. It was April, the middle of spring, but that didn't mean that the nights were any warmer (well, they probably were but it was still pretty cold). She breathed a sigh of relief as she entered the near empty restaurant, panting and all. She seated herself because the only employee she saw was otherwise occupied with other customers. Where were the other waiters? Well, she was all by her lonesome. Ah, and it was the person she was looking for.
Though she was being incredibly rude when the situation obviously didn't call for it. The family on the table looked civil enough. But maybe it just went with her tutor's nature. Katie went over to clean up the dirty dishes and Joze silently moved over to that area. "Well, you certainly could have handled that better. Honestly tips are everything for waitresses, you and I know that both. Being nice goes a long way." Maybe she was just having an off day - there were times Joze had that feeling and it was absolute hell when people got her to serve them "Anyways, is your break coming up anytime soon?"

The dirty plates she slowly collected made her lips curl back slightly in disgust. The previous customers at the table apparently hadn't appreciated that her service was simple and to the point. The 5% tip they had left was more than enough proof that Katie wasn't altering herself to try and please her customers. In her point of view, why should she? She cautiously picked up a greasy plate that was covered in sauce that had once made the dish impeccable, it now cause the dish to be dirty and revolting as the sauce sloshed everywhere as the customers had clearly added some sort of condiment to the sauce. She carefully manhandled the plate so she would not spill any on herself as it appeared to be a dark brown colour that would surly look like shit if it got on her clothing, she didn't even want to think of the stain it would leave. The voice behind her caused her to jump, the plate almost slipping from her hands as the sauce threatened to splatter against her clean clothing. The low guttural growl escaped her teeth as she fumbled with the plate. She turned on her heel, no longer caring if she became covered in the stupid sauce as chances are she was already coated in the brown mixture. Katie drew in a breath ready to deliver the sass she had been building up only to see Joze's face meet hers. The snarl her face had naturally turned to softened seeing the younger girl. Katie couldn't help but soften, she had a weak spot for the girl, Katie wasted no time in breaking into a small smile. The girl seemed the exact same since the last time Katie had seen her, her blond hair still brightening her hair.
The moment quickly passed.
"You were one step away from getting a plate full of sauce missy!" The smile once on her face became a coy smirk as her tone was clearly playful with an underlying hint of sarcasm. Katie gracefully bypassed Joze heading towards the kitchen, she would deal with the stupid plate if it was the last thing she did. She pushed open the double doors with ease, she plopped the plates onto the kitchen counter without a second thought. The kitchen staff hated seeing dirty dishes but Katie could care less, the smile that now painted itself across her face drastically cheered her up. She hoped the kitchen staff would get annoyed and blame the bus boy that had been hitting on her for weeks, serves him right. She pushed open the double doors to the kitchen once more, facing Joze. "I would rather choke on a spoon than pretend to give two shits about that bitch, besides I feel like my break now." She passively looked over to the family, the woman's gasp clearly proving that she had heard. She motioned for Joze to follow her, the staff door clearly labeled but Katie could care less about the rules at the current moment. She felt like a bad ass but she really stopped caring as the customers that they placed her with would be lucky to give a good tip to begin with. Not her fault people couldn't live up to her expectations. She wasted no time in leading Joze to the staff room where her locker was. The doors creaked open with ease as Katie marched over to her locker, once more mindlessly opening her locker. "So whats up my little sun spot?" Katie stuck her tung out as her locker popped open. She could see Joze in the reflection in the sad mirror that hung in the locker. she wouldn't get attached to the mirror, her locker or this place.

[/div][/td][td][atrb=style, padding-top: 2px] Oh. She looked quite scary. Perhaps Katie didn't quite like her teasing, but there was no going back now that everything was said and then. If looks could kill, then Katie would have certainly have killed Joze right then and there. Of course, this only served to be a reminder of what a cruel and rather harsh tutor this girl had been. Honestly, the only reason she had really done well was because of this girl... and her really scary glare. But at least she didn't have to bear with it for long as her expression turned that frown upside down. There was the sweet person that Joze had known and loved.
"No! You wouldn't dare~ I don't have anything decent to change into. You just want to see me in my work clothes." She actually wouldn't put it past the girl to scheme of such a thing, but Katie hadn't quite spilled the sauce on her. Besides, what was she going to say to her parents if she walked home in that outfit? Maybe she should have left it at work, but that would be even worse - she'd have to walk around with a big stain. "You know you love me."
Joze watched the older girl go in and out of the kitchen effortlessly balancing plates. Sure, Joze did a rather similar job, but the way she did it, it made the blonde envy her all the more. But it seemed like the girl hated her job. While in her situation she could understand why Katie was keeping the job, but at the same time the younger girl couldn't help but want her former mentor to be happy, and if this job was preventing that, then Joze found herself wanting her to quit if it was this stressful. But if the pay was good... she often found herself in tight and stressful situations for money, so she could somewhat relate. But why did she feel so strongly like this? Surely... surely it was only because she was a nice person and scared. But still, she hid it behind a bit of laughter.
"Language! To think, you need to be a good role model in front of minors. What message are you trying to send." But Joze smiled anyways. It was finally her break. She didn't care much about the family out in the restaurant. Katie was the one she cared the most about, and what spurred on this visit anyways. However, she couldn't help but feel a bit of pity for them - her former tutor was being awfully rude to them. But Joze didn't know the whole story, so she just kept her faith in Katie. She followed her into the staff room, a bit worried about the fact that she technically wasn't allowed in here, but since Katie was the one leading, it probably wasn't too much of a problem. But this was the locker room, and Joze couldn't help but blush at the prospect of having to witness Katie changing.
"I... ah..." Well, excuse her for being a bit distracted at the current situation. Besides, Joze couldn't really tell her the real reason, anyways. "I was just wondering if you'd like to have dinner with me. It's been a while, hasn't it? I was hungry and I didn't want to eat anything at the maid cafe."

Katie could see the girl in the reflection. She gave her a small smile, she didn't really know why but she found the girl interesting. Her sense of morality was refreshing, Katie couldn't remember the last time she felt like someone was legitimately a good person. "Oh please, you just want to show off the fact you get to dress up like a slut for pay, next thing you know little Joze will be at that strip club proving she isn't as innocent as she looks." Katie looked behind her shoulder and stuck her tongue out playfully. "I just never pegged you as a closet slut, you always struck me as the girl who might actually be a good person... no thanks to me of course" Katie smirked at the girl, she knew that she was never a good influence on anybody. Katie had no idea how she had gotten a job as a tutor but her tough love routine usually got the job done. Most of her pupils flourished under her pressure, this being said a lot of them probably had Katie on some kind of death wish list. She mentally shrugged it off, the marks they received was more than enough to prove she was good at her job as a tutor. A role model, not that great, but she did get the job done.
Katie focused on her work uniform and scowled slightly. She needed to change. She smirked slightly as she started to unbotton her white blouse. Apparently Joze had never been in the gym locker room as her face reddened as her skin was starting to increase in visibility. Katie would have made a joke about it but at the same time she didn't want to go about pointing out she was going to get changed. Sure, she had seen other people naked but she wasn't about to go around and flaunt her body. She wished she had thought through her actions. She had no choice but to change now, she mentally scolded herself for being an idiot. Katie continued to unbutton her work uniform, it was nothing too classy but she knew she could pull off almost anything if she had to. Her confidence only went so far, she thanked herself for wearing a nice bra today. The black lace contrasted her ivory skin perfectly, Katie wasted no time in taking off her shirt. The fabric slid over her arms as it fell to the floor. Normally she would have shoved it in her purse but she just wanted to change as quickly as possible. Katie stood in her black dress pants facing her locker, the cold air fresh against her topless skin. Katie tried not to think about the fact there was a minor in the room with her. She reached into her locker to pull out it's contents. The maroon chiffon shirt felt smooth to the touch. As Katie grabbed it the semi-transparent material it fell to the floor. Katie sighed slightly, this was getting ridiculous. In her head things were going in slow motion but it was probably just her head making her feel uncomfortable.
She thought she already had to go through that self esteem bullshit through puberty. Why in god's name was she relapsing into the same BS. "So besides the fact this could be a seen from a bad porno, how have you been?" She chuckled slightly, she was over this whole situation, she refused to let it get to her. Katie grabbed the maroon shirt and put it on, as she started to do up the buttons to cover herself she turned to Joze with a quizzical expression plastered to her face. She easily did up the buttons of her shirt, the semi-transparent material still allowing her black bra to be seen through the shirt. She knew she looked like any other hipster on the street but she had a huge weak spot for H&M. Katie straightened out her shirt when she heard the young girl speak. Her expression softened, the idea of dinner seemed rather intimate. She couldn't help but almost wish it was a date but pushed the idea to the back of her mind in a heartbeat. "I wou-" Katie paused to clear her throat as apparently all the moisture in her mouth had evaporated. "I would love to." She didn't know what to say, she was honestly speechless. She didn't want the little tike to get the wrong idea, Katie was still going to be hard on her but Katie couldn't help but smile sweetly. She knew it wasn't a date but it was the closest thing she would ever get to a date.

[/div][/td][td][atrb=style, padding-top: 2px] "You jump to too many conclusions too fast." Joze didn't try to deny it, though. It wasn't the truth, but of course Katie was just joking, right? She had never been the best role model, of course, but she was pretty much all that her parents could afford (actually, they didn't even really pay her, to be honest). And she got the job done. Of course, there was the long term effect of it all. Joze sometimes wondered what would have happened if Katie had tutored her brother instead? Of course these mixed feelings for this girl was all from their tutoring sessions, so perhaps even the blonde couldn't help but feel a bit inferior towards him. He was male, at least, that gave him many more points on the playing field just for being of that gender. It was still quite a mystery why Joze liked Katie instead of hating her, really under the circumstances they had been in the younger girl should, for all reasons, hate her.
And yet this was their relationship. This weird limbo place that they were currently residing in. Acquaintances, or friends? Or perhaps they were still in the mentor-student relationship, which was just plain awkward considering that Joze had just invited Katie to dinner. Maybe this was a bad idea in the first place, but this Saturday night had so much more potential than microwave leftovers and no company. Apparently this relationship also included the comfort that Katie obviously felt between them seeing as she was literally undressing before her eyes. This was awkward. Neither of them really spoke during this whole process, and as much as Joze wanted to shift her eyes away, she found it literally impossible to do so.
Ah, so she just contented herself with the sight, which was not so bad on the eyes anyways. Lace... she was wearing lace. She was almost sad when this whole sequence ended, though the awkward silence she was glad to be rid of. Let her never to speak of this situation... ever. It would just be trapped in her mind for all eternity, anyways.
"I've been good. Schoolwork, work, family stuff, the same as always. Though I might say I've been slacking a bit since no one's yelling at me for bad scores anymore." At least the conversation was back on track, with Katie somewhat appropriately dressed now. How in the world had she been so comfortable in this situation? Then again, she was older and much more mature.
"W-where would you like to eat?" Nervous? Joze was more than nervous, for some reason. She was just planning on grabbing a bite here, since she was already here, but from the looks of things Katie didn't want to stay. Seeing as the conflict she had stirred up with her customers was bound to lead to a not so peaceful dinner outing. Of course, when they left, the two of them would be all clear. She felt a lot more comfortable leaving it to Katie to decide. Her taste was flexible, and since she was the one who invited her, it was only fair for her to choose where they go, right? Or was her etiquette all screwed up to? That had never been the blonde's strong point in life, if she said so herself. "Anywhere is fine, really! As long as it's affordable."
Of course Joze had the intention to pay for it all. Her current financial situation wasn't the best but she had saved up! It was the right thing to do, anyways.

Katie chuckled, when she did tutor Joze she didn't really think she was too hard on the girl. Sure, she was Katie so things were obviously going to be challenging but Katie hadn't really tried to make it hard on her. "I could just record myself yelling at you if you wanted to help your marks." Katie smiled, she was obviously kidding. as she had to hold in her laugh. Katie could only image Joze sitting down to study and play a track of Katie yelling at her to help her focus and get better grades. Katie had no idea why but she giggled slightly, she desperately wanted to see that happen in real life and not just her imagination. Katie started to tuck in her shirt, she did have a black high waisted skirt that would really make Katie feel good cause she knew she looked cute in it but she decided on not scarring the minor any more than she already had. Her black work pants would have to do for tonight. They weren't great but at least they still went with the outfit. Katie liked to look good, she didn't really care what other people thought but she did care about how she felt about herself which is why she glanced back at herself in the sad mirror once more before pulling out her purse and shutting the locker door. She knew she was probably blowing off the rest of the day at work so she might as well be prepared to break the rules.
"ummm, well our options are kinda limited since I am saving up for UCLA in the fall..." She knew she had financial problems like any other student, it was kinda depressing but she tried not to think about it. She still had to pick courses and a variety of other things like get her tuition deposit submitted before the deadline but Katie decided not to think about it at the current moment, her pay check and her savings would cover her first payment. She still had time before she had to panic. "We can always start roaming until we find a place, or I can grab some food from the kitchen and maybe do a picnic?" Katie was trying her best to try to think of what options they had. It was good to hear the Joze was in the same boat when it came to money, she knew it wasn't good to compare herself to others but at least she wasn't the only one struggling with her finances. Katie kicked off her simple back shoes, she wasted no time in tucking them under the bench across the room to pull out a pair of simple black heels. She effortlessly put them on before taking a couple test steps like it was her first time walking. After a couple steps she was fine once more, she seemed taller, Katie smirked, always trust the shoes to give yourself an ego boost.
Katie walked towards the door of the change room, grasped the handle and pulled it open for Joze, the light from the hallway almost blinding. Ideally she still wanted to fix her make up but at this point she was satisfied with being seen in public, there was no need to over do it. Katie knew she would see the family again, she mentally prepared herself to not even glance at them. She looked good, why should she care that she would get dirty looks from a family that was rather rude. She wouldn't even bat an eyelash when she saw them. Katie blinked before glancing at Joze. "So what are your options for food?" Katie had no preference, it was totally up to Joze. It would be easy to snag a dish or two from the kitchen. She wasn't sure if the kitchen staff liked her or not, most of them were rather rude or derogatory but Katie couldn't help but think maybe some of them were okay. Some of them seemed pretty chill, none of which she could recall at the present moment but she could totally remember a couple of them not being assholes with no life ahead of them.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=width,400,true][cs=2] if i were to make a move on my own, and change i'd still turn it all black [/style] | [atrb=style, width: 100px; padding-top: 10px;][atrb=valign,top][style=font: normal 11px courier new; text-transform: uppercase; text-align: center; color: #878787;]APRIL SEVENTH SATURDAY |
[/div][/td][td][atrb=style, padding-top: 2px] Ah, normalcy. Joze did wonder what happened to it since the air seemed to be just as tense as it was a few minutes ago, except without that silence. It was just Katie. Her tutor and mentor, the one who was supposed to be a role model (but obviously she wasn't doing much of a job at it). Well, she supposed she did take after Katie in few ways, having a job and all. But the older girl was so much more mature and the like - yes she did aspire to be more like her, in a sense. She'd reckon in the next year or two she'd be just like her, so why not learn now? Hopefully she'd be able to keep her job at the maid cafe for that long, so that a steady stream of money would be finding its way into her pocket.
Spending for dinner wasn't exactly being frugal on her part, but she did want it. It seemed like Katie was under the impression that she would be paying too. But looking at the options, it seemed that if Katie could get food from the kitchen, then that would probably be the cheapest option in all. "Ah, a picnic sounds fun!" Not to mention cheap. Remote. Alone.. Yep, seemed like a good idea. "If you don't get in trouble for it, of course! Let's do it." Ah, perhaps she was being a touch more cheerful than the moment called for?
But it definitely sounded fun. Of course, the family was still there, and Joze wasn't sure if they would be too happy to see her friend. And she was guilty by association too, so they probably wouldn't take too kindly to her either. Ah, well that was all Katie's fault in the first place. But she decided not to judge - she'd probably been in this waitressing business for even longer than Joze had. Maybe she just wasn't having the best day - but hopefully she wouldn't be this grumpy during their little dinner get together.
"But if we decide against that, I don't mind paying, since I invited you. I mean, it's the right thing to do since I'm the one forcing you to eat with me." [/td][/tr][/table][/center]
