The most obese cellar rat, the General, stood in the center of the swarm of smaller rats, shuffling in impatience, ready to obey their general’s order. The General’s expression was unreadable as a condescending comment tumbled out of its mouth, shot in Canis’ direction. It then turned its attention to the Sheryl, who still remained behind Canis, before addressing the police officers.
A snarl threatened to escape his lips; he barely kept his presence of mind. Although the subtle joy of relief coursed through his veins, the bitter feeling of being looked down on did not sit well with Canis. If not for the white-haired girl’s grip on his arm, he would have lashed out and landed a good punch to the rodent’s snout. Dying wouldve actually been worth it if he could’ve mangled his snooty face in the process.
However, the more sane side of him kept his irrational actions at bay while urging him to analyze the dire situation properly. He was out of the dangerous spotlight—a plus—and his pledge disregarded. Although his words were painfully insincere, it was healthy on his conscience.
The translucent walls of wine blocking the exit billowed lethargically as the General—the finest weaver of oratorical flamboyancy, according to Canis—focused its attention on the young police officers, who seemed to be running their mouth’s to stall for time. The General went on about its master with profound zeal.
While Canis backed up to keep Sheryl against the cold wall, his eyes were shifting back and forth furiously, his mind attempting to calculate the best route to tread. The exits were blocked off by walls of wine, seemingly manipulated by the two larger rats that stood just under the General—higher servants, perhaps?
In any case, he assumed that the smallest of the rats were incapable of manipulating liquids, seeing as the whole cellar wasn’t already filled to the brim with alcoholic drink. That meant that the main targets were the two pawns and the General, who still continued to speak.
He must like the sound of his own voice, thought Canis. Filthy creature.
He eyed the police officers. They probably had their guns on them. They should have their guns on them. That would be extremely beneficial—although they were larger and could control water, they were still rats. They didn’t have exoskeletons like the monster that had briefly flickered across the screen of the TV that now lay on its side, a nasty crack in the upper left corner. They’d be harmed considerably if the police officers could get a few shots in.
And then . . .
Canis’ eyes lit up with feverous hope. The water manipulation must take some concentration and effort. It probably would be a whole lot harder to drown them in wine if they’ve been shot a couple of times.
He quickly glanced at the police officers. Canis led Sheryl and himself a couple steps closer to the police officers, hoping to gain some sort of attention. The General was still speaking.
“The two behind him,” he muttered under his breath, quiet enough that only the people closest to him could hear him—Sheryl and the two police officers, specifically. He didn’t want the police officers to miss the pawns working behind the scenes—and the General was an obvious target, so he didn’t have to say anything about him.
A blanket of tense silence fell over the cellar as the remnants of the General’s audacious question reverberated throughout the cellar. The General exuded an air of confidence, commanding everybody’s attention with his passionate words.
Canis shifted uncomfortably. How was he going to get Sheryl out of the cellar safely? He was certain the police officers could take care of themselves, but his worries began to revolve around the girl standing behind him as he remained silent.

There were absolutely no words she could use to describe him, not accurately. No one would believe her if she said she encountered a British speaking rat who could control liquids. She'd shoot him now if Kei hadn't tried reasoning with her. "Fine." That one word didn't even need to be Japanese. Kei had a point there, it was no good if she died here by her pride. Nothing she could do, there were lives at stake. She would do better alive than dead protecting these people. Still, how could she not glare at those rats? They had just killed a person, right in front of her eyes. She'd kill them herself if she knew she had a fighting chance. "You don't touch the kids." Her gun was aimed at his head. And perhaps if he responded unfavorably her finger might accidentally slip on the trigger.
And she might accidentally kill the whole wine cellar indirectly. Gotta keep that temper in check. Which was getting increasingly harder as the damn rat kept talking. "I said. You don't touch the kids." Not the sarcastically rude boy, nor the rather silent girl. Not the kids.
The best idea now was to walk around the ugly rat's words and get him to keep talking - something that he seemed to never stop. Which could work to her advantage. If Kyoko could get him to keep talking, then there would be more time. Still, she should watch her mouth. "Not enough information, buddy. What new world? What utopia?" What were they going to do, take over the mansion and pretend the world didn't exist? Unless world domination was in their mind, but honestly Kyoko didn't think it would go that far. There were people who could take these stupid rats out, right? And that big giant bug up there.
Despicable. Absolutely despicable.
Especially with children present. This was a delicate situation, and Kyoko was never particularly delicate with her words in these types of situations. This was probably best left for Kei, who seemed to have a more level head than her at this moment. Or else, she might just actually get everyone killed. But she was ready to shoot should things get a bit too heated. But most of her attention was on the biggest and baddest (and also most talkative) rat. He was in charge - maybe the other rats would scatter if he died? One outcome out of many.
When that kid mentioned the other two, Kyoko shifted her eyes to look at them. They posted the greatest threat apart from the main rat, and they should be taken out too. But shooting them would still have the main rat to be in charge. Still she tucked it in the back of her mind, while half-whispering, half-mumbling in Japanese in hopes her partner would hear her too. "I'll take the one on the left if things don't go well."

Were she and Kyoko really negotiating with a rat? Yes, yes they were. Kei was glad that Kyoko had heeded her words and not done anything rash. They would keep the rodent talking until they could figure out a way out of this situation. And thankfully, with a little goading, said rat was just pompous and arrogant enough to continue with his little speech.
Kei understood that the situation was dangerous but she really did not appreciate the stupid, talking mammal directing threats at her partner. The temptation to pull the trigger and just shoot it was great but she was smarter than that. Any sudden movements in this tense situation could get them killed especially since she did not know the extent of the rat’s powers.
While deciding what to do, the whispers of the young boy behind them startled her a bit. The two in the back, hmm? It was not a bad idea since they were the two controlling the wine that was blocking their path. At the same time, they also needed to take out the leader. Kei wish she knew what powers the lead rat might have. It would certainly make it clearer on what they could and could not do. There were too many unknown variables right now and Kei did not feel comfortable doing anything because of it. If it was just her and her partner, things would have been better. Not okay, but still better. But now they needed to factor in the two children. Kei would not be able to forgive herself if the children died.
When Kyoko spoke, Kei resisted turning to look at her partner and instead kept her eyes on the three largest rats in the room. Kei nodded and murmured back in Japanese. ”Let’s hope that it doesn’t come to this though. I have an idea. Just play along. I hope that the brat is smart enough to follow along too.”
Kei turned her immediate attention back to the Rat General that was looking very pleased with itself. ”A utopia huh? That sounds nice. But there is something that I do not understand. You are strong, so incredibly powerful. Why is it that you are stuck here dealing with us feeble humans? Shouldn’t you be by your master’s side or doing something more important? Shouldn’t dealing with us be a job given to someone of a lower status?” Would the rat fall for it? Kei didn’t know but she sincerely hoped that the rat was arrogant enough to think about turning on his master.

Were the humans that dense? Did they not understand how monumental this entire situation was? Now that the entire group was there, together, hovering beside one another, he could easily take them all out in one go. It would take little to no effort at all, really. But the general was one that enjoyed playing with his food before eating it. Yes, the humans would be a most delicious snack if they did not cooperate. Then again he could always deliver them all, unconscious, to his master who would probably reward him with something great. So many decisions, so many options, which was he ever to choose?
But now was the only time to choose. He could feel the tension rising in the air as the police officers were ready to shoot at the sign of any little movement. Let them shoot all they wanted! The scent of decay and rot was omnipresent, covering every bit of the cellar now. The rats, flesh dangling from their disgusting bodies, stood with their general, waiting for a command. It seemed as if the humans wanted to finally talk ,but talk the general was tired of. He wanted to see some action! The only way to liven things up was to go on the offense. "My friends! My allies! Please, allow me the pleasure of a demonstration. I assure you that it shall speak profoundly more than words, hmm?"
A small clicking noise came from the general and the two servant rats burst into action. Wine from both sides of the cellar burst forward from two barrels and wrapped around the young girl, lifting her up high into the air and against the ceiling. Any struggle would have resulted in more pressure on her lungs, but if she gave in, the rats would spare her. There was no way that the humans could release her - now, the rats had her where they wanted. With one of the four down, things were starting to look interesting. "Now, I shall ask again, and this time-" He pointed toward the ceiling. "Do NOT try to distract me!" His voice ricocheted through the wine cellar as the struggling girl finally gave in, falling into a deep, deep slumber. She was still alive, but for how long? Time was ticking and there was nowhere to run!
Sheryl Harrison has fallen into a coma.

Sheryl was ripped from his grasp, flying into the ceiling, trapped inside a billowing cage of wine. Her struggles were feeble, and they began to cease as Canis watched in horror.
Canis, white with fury, watched as Sheryl’s movements died and her breathing calmed into a slow, steady beat. Teeth clenched, he glared at the General rat, all rationality escaping from his pores at a rapid rate. He was just about ready to launch himself at the filthy rat, to sink his solid fist into its skull before he was also stuck to the ceiling, dying with nothing but his pride and satisfaction.
“You bastard,” he hissed, eyes narrowed into fierce slits. “What the hell did you do to her? Get her down, now!” The harshness in his voice reverberated throughout the hall, and even though every inch of his body itched to jump into a frenzy of action, an ancient feeling inside of him struggled to keep his feet rooted to the ground. He trembled with anger as he slowly began to take steps forward, the soles of his feet hitting the ground with muffled thuds as he advanced.
Something in his mind stopped him from taking a few more steps. He halted mid-step, glaring at the rat, but he knew he’d be killed if he continued. Even moving was risking it. Heaving deep breaths, daggers flew from his eyes. If looks could kill, well, the General would at least be heavily injured.

Bewildered as she was, she couldn't let herself think about it. This was the enemy, and if the enemy were to attack she were to act accordingly. Even if, in the end, they were a bunch of putrid smelling rats. It was a little ridiculous, and she'd have laughed if it weren't such a dangerous situation. Rats, of all thing. British speaking.
"Demonstration?" If that meant what Kyoko thought it meant, there was no way she wasn't going to be pulling that trigger a thousand times. Unfortunately, it did mean exactly what she thought. She could hear the beginnings of a scream behind her, the water and Kyoko could only imagine what was going on. But she didn't dare look behind her, she didn't want to expose her blind side to the rats. The insolence... of that rat.
"Didn't I say... to leave the kids alone?" She was having difficulty even getting those words out, even a low growl escaping, trying to reason out her rage. There was definitely no stopping her, no amount of logic to convince her otherwise. There went diplomacy, she'd sooner rid these things from the world than let them live. The rat on the left flank was then promptly shot at, twice, three times. "Didn't I say to leave them alone?!" Maybe being in a fuming rage wasn't so much a good thing. Maybe she could have pulled that off a bit better. But right now?
"Let her go and maybe I won't shoot you." Which was a big lie. She'd kill him if that was the last thing she did. Crimes against children would not be forgiven, and hell, these were fucking rats. "Stay behind me, Canis, don't let anything go near you."

And just like that, one of the servant rats crashed hard to the ground.
The sounds of the young police officer's rounds rang in the general's ears, causing him to plug them and wait until it was over. He watched, horrified, as the young rodent lost focus and the girl came toppling down to the ground just where the boy was standing. Just behind the group, the amorphous wall of wine shimmered and part of its contents fell to the ground, oozing toward the small group of hostages. The general's eyes widened in shock, and for a moment he couldn't believe that they were almost free. Almost. It was time to get serious; things weren't going well at all, and in order to please his master, something had to be done.
Flesh fell from the undead rat as it remained still for a moment. For an animated creature, it needed a moment to recover. The general, on the other hand, was far from injured. With a stamp of his foot, he belted out something in an ancient language, sending a massive barrel of wine cascading at the officer who fired at them. If she was quick on her feet, there would be no problems in dodging it, but if she hesitated for even one moment the consequences could have been dire. Small rats scurried from every corner, making their way to the group to overtake them as quickly as possible, aiming for the runt and leaving his unconscious friend alone. By now the injured rat was regaining his position, reinforcing his portion of the wall while sending a small whip of wine to knock the gun out of the sensible officer's position. She had let her guard down long enough for the servant to send her weapon flying. One officer's weapon was gone, but the one that had fired at him was still at large - that is, if she could get out of the way in time.
"ENOUGH with the games! You will now DIE!"

The cracking sound of gunshots frightened Canis into motion, swerving to the ground to avoid collision. He could just make out the figure of the one of the putrid rats topple over.
A quick jolt of glee bolted through his body. Sucker, he thought. Even in the insanity of the situation, he was tempted to belt out a good, hearty laugh. He pressed his lips together, but even then, a muffled snort escaped him.
Suddenly, Sheryl’s unconscious figure dropped down in front of him with a loud thump. He could have sworn he heard a snapping sound.
His eyes swept over Sheryl’s sprawled, limp figure in horror. Almost immediately, images of the recent past flashed through his mind once more, a woman rag doll, crimson red cascading down the side of a cracked face. His throat tightened up, as did his chest. Cold sweat dripped from his chin.
He screamed.
Canis didn’t know whether it was from fear or anger, but it reverberated throughout the wine cellar. He remained frozen for a mere moment before he was spurred into action. Nostrils flared, he quickly crawled over to her body, fighting off the incoming wave of rats with raw strength. As he threw Sheryl over his shoulder, he realized that she was uncannily light. That or he was uncannily strong.
He kicked at a group of rats, sending them sliding across the floor, but many more swarmed to replace them, leaving him at an overwhelming disadvantage. He did everything in his power to keep them off of Sheryl’s body—he even dared to grab the squirming body of a rat and throw it against the wall. The group of filth ravaged his legs, but he couldn’t feel the searing pain. Not yet, at least.
He fought his way back to the two police officers, throwing Sheryl at the police officer without a gun before whirling around to fight off the rats. He threw off the two rats making progress towards his chest with his two hands, before dealing with the group at his legs, kicking in fury. A rat crawled up the back of his right leg.
Without much thought, Canis spun around on the balls of his left foot with his right leg raised, sending it flying into the wall, performing a rather simple roundhouse kick, but a move he normally didn’t know how to do. He didn’t have time to contemplate over it, however, as his body was completely occupied with fending off the vermins.

Kyoko had aimed between the eyes, and she thought she was successful for the time being. The rat was knocked back, though she hadn't quite expected Sheryl to drop down quite so suddenly or quickly. She winced as she heard the thump, but there was nothing she could do about it if she wanted to get the other safely out of here. She was on guard, alert, and her gun trained right at the annoying British rat's skull. One kid down, there was no way she was letting the other kid succumb to something such as this. However, her partner hadn't shot the other rat, and as a result their ranks hadn't broke.
And then Kyoko realized - the rat she swore she shot to death was not quite dead. But how? Rats were also swarming towards Canis, and there was really nothing she could do. Well, until she realized that she had every right to shoot the hell out of the big head honcho. She was unsure if she should try before Kei got the other rat, though. He was saying weird things, and before she knew it, a massive barrel of wine came tumbling in her direction. "Kuso..." She managed to wiggle out of the way, thankful for her training. Yeah, he was one to look after, alright.
And then Kyoko heard the clacking of metal on the floor, and although she didn't dare look it was obvious what it was. Kei was disabled, and the younger cop couldn't help but swear. Swear all the swears. She fired a shot at the rat at the right flank, hoping to do something to it. "I'll kill you... I'll kill you all." And it seemed like the stupid giant rat had the same idea. Keeping her eye on the rats, she moved closer to Kei. Screw trying to be discreet, she just plain out yelled the next part to her partner, albeit in Japanese. "Get her to safety, I'll back you up. Try to help Canis, and I'm gonna try to grab your gun. Just make sure everyone's safe." She really didn't want to die right now.
Although the boy was a little busy fending off rats, Kyoko was trying to see if she could help in any way. "There's a knife on the back of my belt, can you grab it?" It was a little bloody from the last encounter she had with the rat on Kei's back, but it could serve a little useful. Even though she was a little bit wary of having a kid handle a knife, it wasn't like he was going to stab himself with it unless he was stupid. And with how well he was fending off the rats (or so she assumed), he was far from stupid.
"I hate rats." She fired two more of her rounds into the giant rat's skull. If anything it would slow him down enough for her to reload her gun, because she was running dangerously low on the ammunition currently loaded in her gun. Which was also why it was important to retrieve Kei's gun, in case there wasn't enough time. If Kei could get the gun, great, Kyoko would gladly take the job of taking Sheryl into safety.

Things happened too quickly and Kei cursed herself for not having reacted quickly enough. In one moment, Sheryl was captured in a bubble of wine and Kyoko had shot one of the rats standing behind the largest rat. Worst of all, one of the creatures (or some of the creatures Kei really didn't care abot specifics at the moment) had used a whip made out of the wine to knock her gun out of her hand. She was weaponless. Her gun was now a good several feet away from her.
On the bright side (if there ever were any) Kyoko still had her weapon and when she shot one of the rats half of the liquid wall blocking their escape crashed to the ground. It was good to know that shooting the rats did have some effect. Now if they could only get rid of the other one...
Keiko felt Kyo move closer to her after her gun fell to the ground. Kei hated herself at the moment. Kyoko moved closer to her for protection but Kei couldn't protect her even if she wanted to. The older policewoman eyed the rats warily. If given the chance, she could dive for her gun and shoot. However, aiming like that does not mean a very high accuracy rate. Such an action was risky at best and she could end up like the young girl.
Thinking about the young girl made her angry. They could have attacked anyone. It should have been her. It would have been best if no one got hurt. Why did it have to go for the children? Kei could feel Kyoko already on edge at the moment even without the stream of swears and threats flowing from her partner's mouth.
Her indecisive thoughts were disrupted when Kei realized that Kyoko was whispering something to her. It was surprising because Kei had not thought to bring a second weapon and but it also made Kei extremely thankful and happy to have Kyo as her partner (even if somewhere in the back of her mind, she felt like she was going to die tonight). Then again, knives were against regulation but considering the situation, she would let it slide. Hell, she would let a lot of things Kyo did in the future slide.
Kei look at her behind her partner as breifly as possible to quickly grab the knife without accidentally copping a feel on her partner's ass. The knife was good for defending herself but a gun for long distance would be much better. Kei inched away from Kyo in the direction of her gun. She switched to Japanese to avoid the rat listening in on their conversation. "I'm going for my gun. Watch the kid."

The General had underestimated these humans; not only were they brave (or was it just stupididity) but they were very willing to help one another out. His horde of small servants made attempts to gnaw, climb, and take over the smaller one, but so far nothing was working. This was a fiesty one, and those were the most unpredictable ones of all. He could feel so much tension rising in the air as the young one's leg came sailing through the air, throwing a number of rats away and sending their dead bodies into the wall. The giant rat stood tall on its hind legs, ready to join in on the action when two shots rang through the air, sending the giant rat staggering backward and eventually onto the ground. The flooring beneath him stirred a bit, sending a slight shudder beneath the two servant rats, causing them to wobble and lose a bit of focus. The shimmering wall of wine bubbled and sloshed around but otherwise did not move.
Many of the smaller rats stopped moving while some were more focused on regrouping. The small onslaught had stopped, but for how long? It took the General a good ten seconds to get back up, but that was their mistake. Chunks of flesh peeled away from its body, leaving a terrible aroma wafting through the cellar. By now, the young officer had likely retrieved her gun, a stroke of sheer luck. Because things were going to be a bit different this time around. This time, those pesky humans were going to suffer.
"This time, you die."
Tendrils of wine burst forward from the barrels, lashing out at the three conscious humans. One of them came into contact with the impulsive one but only just barely. The other two went flying into the direction of the young runt as well as the now-armed officer, hoping to take them down once and for all. If not there was plenty more where that came from!

Everything was in chaos.
The small, limp figures of rats littered the cellar ground like the aftermath of a horrible war. An unimaginable stench wafted about. Canis wrinkled his nose and wiped a tear from the corner of his eye, but he remained focused on the onslaught.
He heard two gunshots, most likely from the adamant police officer letting her mouth run loose. She had a vocabulary vile enough to make a sailor blush.
After what seemed like forever, the rats began to retreat and regroup, leaving Canis in a temporary moment of serenity. He looked to see Sheryl’s body leaned against the wall, unconscious but generally unscathed. A ghost of a smile played on his lips, but it vanished quickly when the Commander decided to speak once more.
The words chilled his bones, sending a ghastly shiver up his spine. He didn’t have time to be scared, however, as a tendril of wine shot at him. Tendrils of wine? He just couldn’t be surprised anymore. He was definitely cursed.
Canis did his best to leap out of the way, swerving to his right. His quick reflexes allowed him to avoid the brunt of the damage. However, a large cut along his left arm oozed with warm blood. How the hell did that happen?
His brain registered the pain before he hit the floor. Red seared his vision. His arm was on fire. He writhed in pain, thrashing and screaming, before he came to an eerie stop, lying on the ground, weak with pain.
He gritted his teeth as he pulled himself to the wall with his right arm and feet, struggling to accelerate his movements, to be ready for the next attack. The pain in his left arm was immense, but everything else still functioned normally.
Unsteady, he managed to retain a standing position with the help of the wall. His breaths came out in ragged pants, and he eyed the head rat with a mixture of anger and wariness. He wasn’t going to die until he squeezed in a good punch to its snout.

Kyoko screwing over regulation was saving lives here, so her moral compass wasn't phased at all over the fact that she was breaking some rules that her job entailed. She felt a little better once her partner had some sort of weapon to protect herself against the over sized rats. She switched her position to be more better suited for defense as opposed to the offensive actions she had taken earlier in her rage. She was still quite angry, don't get her wrong, but she was calming down just a little bit to get a grasp on things.
A smirk of triumph appeared on her face as her shots landed square on the rat, toppling him. She thought for sure that he had to be dead, but then that awful smell came wafting through. More like violently ravaged her nose in an unpleasant way instead of wafting. And was that... flesh? And he was still alive? How was that possible? It finally clicked in her mind. The near-nauseating scent, the refusal to die, the powers... They weren't natural. They didn't die easily. But Kyoko had been so sure her aim had been good... Goodness, would the assault never end? There probably wasn't much ammo left inside her gun, and she didn't want to risk running out. Although she had more in her magazine pouch, it would take a while to reload and by then, who knew if she'd still be alive?
"I'll cover you." Although speaking in Japanese was a necessary, she couldn't help feeling just a little bad for Canis, who was probably listening and not understanding a thing. Not daring to face her back towards the rat, she walked backwards, inching closer to Canis. Kyo tried to keep an eye on Sheryl's body as well, but focusing on three points of interest all at once was not exactly easy on the cop. Kei safely retrieved her gun and she breathed a sound of relief. She emptied the remainder of her ammunition, quickly opening her magazine pouch and reloading the gun.
She was ready for whatever the rats had to dish out. Well, ready only to the extent of being attacked by a possessed wine barrel. But moving tentacles of wine... "Are you kidding me?!" And she tried to move out of the way from the closest incoming one, still looking at it in disbelief. But even she wasn't perfect, and she paid for that folly with sudden pain on her arm where she assumed the wine whip hit her. "I-itai..." Honestly, right now, Kyo could only see white with her rage.
"You'll pay for that, you bastard!" And then two more deadly wine tentacles were aimed towards Canis and Kei. She was closer to Kei and she managed to drag her out of the way of that certain tentacle (well, as much as she possibly could with her bruised arm). She quickly checked back to look at the kid. It didn't look too good from there. The rat... he would definitely pay, if that was the last thing Kyo did. "No! This time, you die!" Maybe it wasn't good to shoot with reckless abandon, but right now the more bullets that landed on the stinky, over-sized rat, the better.

Kei dove for her gun and was relieved when she was able to retrieve her weapon unscathed. Thanks to Kyoko's good aim, she was able to reach for her gun in the middle of all the chaos.
With her pistol back in her hand Kei immediately turned her attention and gaze back onto the three largest rats in the room. Her gun was aimed directly at the largest rat in the middle. Kyoko was a good shot and all of her bullets were more or less hitting the General from what Kei could see. She just hoped that Kyoko was being careful. They had bullets but they were limited.
When the largest rat fell, Kei noticed that his weight not only caused the floor to shake but the two servant rats to lose concentration as well. The wall of wine behind them bubbled a bit but held its place. It was then that she realized exactly how they were going to be able to escape.
Kei got off the ground and regrouped with the other three people. Kyoko was doing a good job but she wouldn't be able to defend all three of them alone. Especially now that there are... liquid tentacle monsters? Kei nearly paused from disbelief. This was like something out of a bad animated porn. No matter. Getting away was most important at the moment.
"Kyoko," Kei murmured to her partner in Japanese. "Here's the plan. You and I each shoot one of the rats behind the fat one. If I'm right, it will get rid of the wall and give us a chance to escape. You and I will each grab a kid and run, okay?"

One little brat was unconscious, but the other was still standing. The General began flapping his jaws again, something he was becoming very acquainted with. "You three are a pain my arse! Now, servants, it's time to-" But he was cut off by the sound of bullets ricocheting from all directions. One grazed him across his face, allowing the rotten, undead flesh to disintigrate. Three slammed straight into the servant on the left while two went straight into the servant on his right's skull. Immediately both rats toppled backward, plummeting to the floor. Before he could do anything else, the General, who was already under a lot of strain, made an attempt to recreate the wall that was now trying to flood away. It was difficult, even for someone as powerful as himself, to maintain such a large amount of water at once. His small army of rats couldn't be summoned because the vast majority of them lay littered about the floor, as lifeless as could be.
And that's when a stray bullet came into contact with the General, sending him stumbling backward as well. He managed to keep his balance, but all concentration was lost. In a large spray of red, the ambiguous wall of wine collapsed, sending the spray of alcohol all over the cellar. The scent was absolutely overwhelming, causing the General to lose his senses for a moment. The other two servants made an attempt to get back up, but the intense waves of wine prevented anything that they could have accomplished. Through all of his might, there was not enough strength left in him to recreate the wall of wine alone. His rats were gone and his servants were in capacitated.
The exit has been unblocked! Everyone is now free to leave. Please post one last time with your characters and this will wrap things up.

The rest was a grand flair of bullets and shrieks, though dull once reaching Canis’ ears, whose whole body was focused on the one, obese captain in the center. He ground his teeth together before slowly making progress towards that one rat, the one where all his hate had begun to revolve around.
Bullets whizzed past him, and if anyone with enough sanity at this point were to yell at him to duck for cover, he would’ve simply ignored him. He glanced back once more at the helpless body of the unconscious Sheryl, and for one brief moment, felt a pang of regret. It shocked him, because it wasn’t even his fault—so why did he have to feel responsible for her?
He focused his attention back on the pile of filth. He seemed to be having a lot of fun, getting shot at. It was a wonderful sight. He grinned sadistically, clenching and unclenching his fist, getting the blood running in his right arm. There was only one thing left to do, and he was going to do it no matter how stupid it may be.
After approaching the fallen figure of the dead rat, he stood over it for a moment. Dirty flies orbited around it like planets to the sun. He wrinkled his nose in disgust. Bringing up his hand, he let it stay in the air for a few tranquil moments before bringing it down on its face with a large smash.
The satisfying crunching sound one of the last things he heard as he made his way to the now unblocked staircase. He only managed to wobble a few steps up before he collapsed.

While the room was still in chaos and the rats were distracted (mostly by being shot at) a young boy, no older then four was using all his power to crawl his way up the steps of the only exit out. He placed his small hands on the wall and braced himself as he lifted one foot after the other. For all the good he was doing the boy was scared, scared of the rats, scared that his mother was no where to be seen. Unknown to him, his mother was already dead lost somewhere between the chaos. Yes all he wanted to do was leave, all he knew was that the stairs lead back to where him and his mommy came from. Maybe she was up there? Waiting for him, he wouldn't know unless he tried.
He wore a navy blue shirt and tan shorts, his hair was blonde and he had striking blue eyes. He was now alone and would need someone to protect him, but who would was to worry about a child when there were other things to worry about?

No, she greatly preferred actions on the fly as opposed to taking time to actually plan something. Because by that time, things would be different, the situation compromised... something. And she really didn't think things through at all. Nor was she very good at thinking of a plan like that. So it wasn't her forte to think. It was more like 'do now, think later'. And as one would probably think, it's gotten her into quite a bit of trouble in her years as a cop. Or a civilian. It's gotten her into trouble ever since she could remember.
Which was why she was so lucky to have Kei as her partner, who could think of things. From this point Kyoko had mostly set her eyes on the big rat, more out of pure rage than anything, but what she said at least made some sense. She hadn't been paying much attention to the wine wall. But if she dicked this part up, they might actually not get out of this alive. And if that were the case, who would protect the children?
So instead of giving the biggest rat the shooting of his life, she focused her eyes on the one closest to her. And bang, she shot. And it went down. And the other one did too. And the wine wall crashed down. Kyoko had half the mind to carry the small child with her and bolt already, before that stupid big rat put it up again. She swore she could feel her eye twitch with anger. Kyoko should have shot him more or something. Of course, she just kept unloading the bullets into her respective rat hoping that something would happen.
Something did happen. Kyoko wasn't sure what, but the wine wall was gone once more. She'd really like the shoot the big rat in the head again or something, but there was no more time to waste. With a chance to escape now, she couldn't let it pass up. "You get the boy, I've got the girl." She scrambled over to the comatose girl, carrying her on her back. She was surprisingly light, it was almost scary. She needed a hospital, now.
Kids were kind of scary. Kyo looked back for a brief second to see, well, what Canis was doing. "There's no time for that, let's go, now! I don't want your friend to die on the way to the hospital." Plus that was dangerous - sure it was nice to see that rat bastard's head get pummeled in but the safety of the kid.
And she really hoped she wasn't seeing what she was seeing right now, as she turned her attention towards the stairs once more. Was that a small child? Was it trying to climb those stairs? What was a small child even doing here? Seeing no horrified parent coming to pick up the child in their vicinity, Kyoko sighed and walked towards the little boy. "Let's get you out of here, okay?" With one kid on her back already, she couldn't really do much but attempt to lead and help the kid up the stairs. It was so cute, but it was also so very terrifying that the kid had to experience that. "You'll be alright! Everything's safe now."
Everything was safe. They were going to get Sheryl to a hospital, Canis back to his home and this kid... Well, Kyo wasn't sure what to do with the kid quite yet, but she couldn't just leave him behind.

Kei was thrilled when her plan had worked. She was expecting something to happen. some kind of mishaps perhaps. Maybe the bullets would have missed one of the rats or someone got attacked int the process. Things never went her way that easily. However, surprisingly, shooting the rats had done a lot of good. With the two lackeys in the back incapacitated, and the lead rat shot by a stray bullet, the rest of the disgusting creatures also stopped.
Kyo had picked up the unconcious girl. Just thinking about her hurt Kei. They were unable to protect the two children completely. Now they had one child in a coma and the other would no doubt be traumatized and have nightmares for years to come.
Kei reached for the boy but instead of leaving with them like intended, the child walked over to the rat and punched it in the face. While that was great for him to unleash his anger and all, what if the rat had come back to life. If he had been paying attention, he would have realized that the rats have some sort of regenerative ability and they had to get out as fast as possible. Not to mention, the giant rat was literally a mass of rotting flesh. Who knew what germs and diseases normal rats could carry not to mention and undead one. Kei would have to make sure that both children saw a doctor once they finally got out.
The older Japanese woman's eyes followed Canis to the door. At least he could still walk on his own. But more importantly, Kei saw something that brought out all her maternal instincts. Why was there a child trying to get up the steps and why had no one noticed him until now. It was a miracle that he had not been killed in the onslaught of rats and bullets.
Kyoko moved towards him first. He looked terrified but it was probably better now that he was safely out of that hellish experience. Kei wondered where his parents had gone. She hoped that they had not been in the wine cellar since they were the only survivors. If he was lucky, his mother would be somewhere else in the estate, alive and breathing. Keiko followed them up the stairs and picked up the boy.
She addressed the child first. "What's your name, honey? Where's your mom and dad?" She didn't receive an answer, not that she was surprised.
She turned to her partner. "We should get the girl to the hospital first. He'll have to come with us to the station once he's been checked out so that we can get them back to their parents."

Those bullets. They came from absolutely nowhere! Infuriated beyond belief, the General regained his sense before his two servants were able to even stir. But he was still too slow. Now, behind the officers, the kid that had the testicular fortitude to puch him in the face scurried up the stairs! Not happening! With what strength the General could summon so quickly, he managed to whip out at the young boy with a tentacle of wine, catching his leg and sending him face-first into the stairs. But that was as far as he could go - from his position, being knocked back from where he was standing to begin with, was not within the distance to control the wine. Just as soon as it grabbed ahold of the young teenager, it disappated, leaving the middle schooler lying on the ground. But just so, he would get right back up and leave, never looking back. It angered the General, but he hadn't the energy to chase after him without the assistance of his servants.
Noises. They began to echo all around. It sounded as if they came from everywhere. Squeaking, loud, shrill. Their voices were numerous, and they were approaching fast. In the shadows, the General could make out what looked like hundreds of vague figures heading in his direction. But they were not friendly; in fact, they were coming for him and his servants. As far as the eye could see, small rats, some disfigured and some undead, came with their fangs bared. All at once, enormous amounts of pain seared through the General and his two servants as the hundreds of fangs ripped into undead bodies. In the background, a voice could be heard. It was crystal clear, deep and resonant. The General was unable to determine whose voice it was, but he guessed it was his master. Through otherworldly means the once dead rats had been brought back, but by those same means they fell to dust. All that was left in the wine cellar were the bodies of the deceased and piles of dust.
