Down in the wine cellar there is an area set up for all sorts of drinks and wine tasting. Here they have only the finest drinks, waiters with finger foods and small tables to sit at. There is where some people went to just relax from the music and dancing, others to check out the very large wine cellar. | [cs=3][atrb=style,width: 460px; text-align: center; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px;]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,bTable][atrb=style, width:350px]“just give me something lasting, to show the world that i was here!” waypoint | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,bTable][atrb=style, width:350px] Kei looked around at the masses of people that were wandering through the halls of the huge mansion that she and Kyoko were currently supposed to be guarding. With the amount of people and money in the hallway alone, Kei understood why the Lexington family would request security from the Los Angeles Police Department. However, when she, and the rest of the assigned officers actually arrived it quickly became apparent that the Lexingtons had more than enough hired security and more. If anything, the LAPD were just there for back up and even then the likelihood of something happening was slim.
Kei checked her watch. It would be midnight soon and the host of the party would soon make his grand announcement, whatever that was. Kei really did dislike rich people and their arrogant personalities...
It was not like she was able to party, anyway. A look around the room and the difference between them was obvious. Everyone else in the room save for the police were dressed in suits and dresses. A majority of the people had masks on. Kei, on the other hand, was wearing her police uniform, comfortable boots, and had no mask on. Unless this was a costume party, Kei was definitely not dressed for the part.
Fed up and tired with standing there, Kei left her post to find her partner and whisper in her ear. "I'm going to the wine cellar. Care to join me?" Without waiting to see whether or not Kyo replied, Keiko left and found her way into the wine cellar where she was sure to be able to relax and enjoy herself.
This is much better, Kei thought to herself, as she took a glass of expensive, red wine. ------------------------------------

The blue, intricately decorated mask covered the majority of his face, save his eyes, making him look like some sort of freak. His brows were shiny with sweat, the heat of the cellar causing him to squirm in his tight and uncomfortable suit. Canis self-consciously re-adjusted his tie, his dull eyes peering through the swell of people, trying to tune out the buzz of conversation. Fat, pompous men bellowed out laughter, the stink alcohol on their breath. Canis grimaced as he nearly came into contact with a chubby lady, swiftly stepping around the tub of lard with strange grace.
He’d originally wandered the gargantuan mansion to avoid contact with his family members until it was time to go home, but considering his luck, it was to be expected that he’d stumble into the wine cellar. Once he’d realized where he was, the door back outside seemed like a journey away, the swarms of people rendering escape almost impossible.
The brown-haired child heatedly fiddled with his party mask, a frown playing at his lips at the fact that he wasn’t allowed to take it off. A finger traced the sides of the mask, running over little bumps that were the golden balls of sparkly goodness that made his mask all the more flamboyant. A handspun, lapis-coloured thread of silk ran down the side of the mask, tickling the base of his neck. Canis found himself swatting at it occasionally, but it always managed to find its way back to its original position. He soon gave up, muttering a curse under his breath every now and then when it whipped his cheek every time he turned his head.
He resigned himself to the wall, standing with his hands crammed into his trouser pockets, attempting a certain nonchalance that didn’t look too well on adolescents. He wanted this party to end.

In fact, Kyoko really wished she could have taken a part of the party, dressed up and fancy and in masks. Only, well, she couldn't. And for all intents and purposes, she should be grateful. After all, if she weren't on security, she wouldn't have even been able to go to the party. How in the world would she have gotten an invitation, anyways? So, no dress and no mask. Just her uniform - a dress and a mask would hinder her from doing her job should anything drastic happen. But nothing yet. And she was a little - maybe a lot - pissed off at the fact that she could only look and not take part. Well, yes, she enjoyed looking at the fancy formal dress code of the people, and observing the intricate masks that most people brought, but at the same time she wondered why that couldn't be her. Right, because she was rather poor in the scheme of things and would never be able to even afford anything of the sort, much less get invited.
But she was having such a boring old time. To be honest - there really wasn't much that could go on. At least she had Kei to entertain her, but even so. There was so much they could do to entertain themselves. Perhaps a board game, but that would mean finding one, and it would take too much time to set up and put away. And ultimately, they wouldn't be alert if something happened. Though really, their presence here was more precaution than anything. Lexington was a rich man, rich enough for hired guards and their own security. The stinking rich, man. They both pissed her off and drew her in. Because, hell, their outfits were always so pretty and she'd be lying if she didn't want to be one of them. Though, she was feeling awfully under dressed with all the fancy dresses and suits and masks that she lacked.
Well, she just contented herself with observing and sighing. They really were pretty, and there was so much envy on her part. Kyo wasn't sure if she could really handle much more, actually. But this was her job. She had to be here, right? And if she were to 'take a break', she wasn't exactly sure how she was going to do that. She was bored, and maybe Kei might go easy if she slipped out somewhere? Kyoko couldn't be the only one bored, right? After all, they were only human, and just being onlookers wasn't fun. She sought to find Kei and maybe talking to her some would prove to be something to distract herself.
Though her partner found her first, signalling that she'd be going to the wine cellar. Well, that was a good of a place as any. "Okay, I'm coming - hey wait!" She didn't appreciate how she was left behind, but she sort of understood that Kei probably was sick of whatever this was and was in a hurry to escape it. Well, Kyo just shrugged and made her way down to the wine cellar. Cozy, mostly adults for the wine tasting. But there was food, so she targeted the finger foods first. Sure, she liked wine, but she could get some later as it didn't seem like they were going to run out any time soon. "Found you, Kei." Usually Kyoko was the one sneaking off, so the role reversal was a bit disorienting. Oh well. She looked around at the place they decided to ditch to. Not too bad, actually.
Though her eyes settled on a young boy - or at least, it looked like a boy from attire and height. What was he doing down here? He should really go back up where there might actually be people his age. Kyoko really hoped that he wasn't here for the wine - he didn't look that old. Still, as she walked a bit closer to him, she could tell he was definitely not an adult. Maybe a young teen, an older kid? "Hey, what's someone like you doing down here?" Well, she couldn't actually force him out of here, and she tried not to be accusatory with her tone. She couldn't help if the kid took it the wrong way, though.

It was absolute and pure chance Sherry got her hands on an invitation to this fancy-schmancy party. And she honestly hadn't even been too serious about going in the first place. The drawing for the invitation just seemed kinda cool, not to mention there had to be fancy food and stuff at such a huge party. She doubted she'd win the lottery, but getting a few tickets wouldn't hurt. Plus she thought the money was going to some kind of organization, so she'd be helping someone, if nothing else came of it.
But somehow she won. And while the raffle person seemed hesitant to give it to her, the white haired girl's desire to get the prize she'd gambled her drove her to lie and say it was for her parents. When all was said and done, she ended up heading home with an invitation to a party by Max-Maxi- ... well some dude with a long name. She only remembered the beginning of his name from when the invitation's sender was announced and the few times she glanced at it. "But it's not like I'll actually see the guy. He's the most important person at the party; there'd be no reason for me to greet him or anything." So she hadn't worried about it.
Of course it also took some convincing on her part for her parents to let her go, but with the promise she'd be back right after the announcement and she'd paid her own money to get the invite, they finally caved. She couldn't get any real poofy or decorative dresses that cost a fortune, but she was able to go out and get something a bit fancier than what she already owned. Apparently this Max-guy(she might as well just call him that) was someone important or something, if her parents thought she needed to look presentable.
When the night of the party arrived, Sherry walked in in a dark purple dress with a black band around the waste, a black flower made of cloth attached to it. A sparkly, matching purple mask covered her face, with an equally bright bow in her hair. Slipping on some velvet mary janes, her outfit was complete and she looked as party-ready as a fourteen year old could be. Unfortunately, however, it didn't look like she'd have any other fourteen year olds to compare herself to. The first thing to notice when you entered the mansion was that the huge space seemed occupied by adults and adults only. Some older teenagers were mixed in the crowd, but none of them looked nearly as young as her.
"But... but it's okay! I didn't plan to explore the house or anything in the first place. I can just spend the entire night following around waiters for food, and when Max gives his announcement thing, I'll go." It was just a matter of finding the food now. Wandering around, trying not to bump into anyone, and picking up snippets of conversation here and there, it was easier to find food than she thought it'd be. The wine cellar was where people kept mentioning the fine drinks and kind waiters always walking around with food for the guests. The location made her a bit uncertain, but seeing as there didn't seem to be many other places with food, she decided to just go with it. She didn't intend to drink any wine after all so she wouldn't.
It pleased to her to be greeted with the sight of a man dressed in typical waiter garb offer her a crunchy-looking roll of some sort. Taking it gratefully and giving her thanks, it tasted super delicious! She'd have to scout for more of those people and sample all of them if the quality was this good every time. Luckily for her, their distinctive black and white attires stuck out in the crowd, so she was never at a loss for something to eat. It might become an issue when they recognized what she was doing, maybe if she met the same waiter twice, but... well that hadn't happened yet so no point in worrying about it.
Sherry was just in the middle of picking out another employee from the guests when someone else not in party-wear caught her eye. Instead of being dressed in a formal way like everyone else, the lady looked more like a cop. "Security? Of course they'd be here with the size of this house and the people. I mean, it even looks like she's talking to someone." Letting her curiosity guide her, the girl got a bit closer to see who'd done something wrong.
She squinted her eyes. It looked like a young boy. In other words, someone her age. What could someone as old as her have done? Trying to guess as she took a few more steps towards the two, she was granted with a more detailed view of the apparent wrong-doer. And she had to make sure she was seeing correctly when she realized who it was. Or who it looked like.
"Is that... is that Canis?! I-It can't be! Sure he's about the rudest person I've ever met and he has the worst people skills in the world as well a total disregard for other's feelings but-" Her train of thought stopped. A-Actually... if she thought about it, it wouldn't be too surprising if he broke some kind of rule. Nothing that would warrant some kind of arrest or anything from the security (she hoped), but something about disruptive behavior? Mouthing off to a guest he shouldn't have? It seemed too likely he'd done that.
Rushing over without a second thought, Sherry was subconsciously relieved that, in fact, it really was Canis and not some stranger. Of course that was overrun by the fact that there was still an officer talking to him though. "Canis what did you do?!" Resisting the urge to grab him by the shoulders and shake him for whatever mistake he'd made (if only because there was the lady officer right there), she turned towards said cop and carried on.
"Please uh, Miss Security Lady, I'm sure whatever Canis did he-" He probably did mean it. She gave up on that plea. "I-It wasn't anything too bad, was it?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,bTable][atrb=style, width:350px]“just give me something lasting, to show the world that i was here!” waypoint | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,bTable][atrb=style, width:350px] It was not every day that Keiko skirted her duties and acted immaturely. But if anyone said that she did not need it, they were clearly wrong. Kei may act responsible and mature most of the time but sometimes she needed a break. And today was one of those days.
Kei took a sip of her red wine and smiled at Kyoko who had finally caught up to her. ”Good job caching up,” Kei said. So maybe she was not acting quite like herself however the number of rich assholes that she has had to deal with in the past two weeks has gone up exponentially. Could anyone really blame her for wanting to relax a bit? The older Japanese woman tilted her glass ever so slightly in her partner’s direction and grinned. ”Wine?”
Unfortunately, Kyo’s interest was turned elsewhere and Kei’s offer was ignored. Kei’s eyes followed in Kyo’s direction and finally realized what or who it was that had captured her partner’s attention.
A young boy that looked to be in his early teen years stood leaning against the wall with a posture that only few people could pull of tastefully. His face was obscured by a large blue mask so Kei could not see his face but she certainly doubted that he would look very pleased based on his posture. At any rate, he should not be down here and before Kei could say anything, Kyo was already off to confront the boy. Not a moment later, a girl that looked to be about the boy’s age ran up to them. Kei couldn’t hear them but wondered what was going on. The girl seemed a bit frantic.
Kei sighed and placed the glass of wine down on a nearby table. So much for relaxing, Kei thought. But her job was important if not unnecessary with the amount of security around and children really shouldn’t be in a wine cellar anyway.
She followed her partner and, as she drew closer, was finally able to hear the exchange between the three people. So the girl was defending the boy for whatever he had done. Kei had to admit that it was rather cute to see the two kids together. Her maternal instincts made her look at the children and smile despite the location.
”What’s wrong?” Kei asked as she approached. ”Are you two lost or something?” That last question was directed at the two kids. Perhaps the question stemmed from her experience with Kyoko but Kei was not trying to be condescending. They looked old enough to be able to get around by themselves but in a place like this, hell even she could get lost sometimes. |

Canis had expected for the night to pass quietly, with him wasting his time in some place where he didn’t have to speak to anybody in a cordial fashion or fake a bright, youthful smile under the scrutiny of his mother’s hawk-like gaze. He dreamed of the time when he could collapse onto his bed and go straight asleep, wrapping himself in the thick comforter that smelt of cold, fresh laundry detergent.
It was a short-lived dream. He eyed at the police officer wearily, the sight of her uniform evoking an ugly frown to appear on his face.
God damn it.
His face wrinkled, a muscle working in his jaw. He was not in the mood to deal with a police officer, because that would just mean his parents would get involved, and from there, all hell would break loose. He’d have to sort out the problem before it got to that stage, unless he wanted to suffer the consequences.
“Uh . . . not drinking?” he answered, trying in vain to keep the bitter tone out of his voice and working to keep his face passive—a miserable failure. His hands were clenched in his pockets, his posture erect and standing up straight. Standing at attention, maybe? No. Not Canis. Kissing up to the woman’s posterior to get away without much trouble? Yes.
His peripheral vision caught white hair. Oh, good lord. Please, no—
Incoming.
He sucked in breath, rubbing the back of his neck and fighting the urge to let the colourful language fly loose. “Your timing is as wonderful as ever, Sheryl,” he hissed, still trying to remain civil. His patience was wearing thin, however, and it wouldn’t hold much longer. Thank you, white-haired goody-goody. “I didn’t do anything. Yet.”
Another police officer appeared, with curly brown hair that bounced with her step. It was Canis’ lucky day.
“Nope. Not lost. I was just getting out of here. While you guys are here, though, why don’t you escort me through that party of fat-cats over there?” He nodded his head savagely in the direction of the crowd, with their beer bellies and poorly stained attire. They were already drunk, the barbarians.
(OOC: Folks, we've gone past the boiling point.)

Kyoko was sure that she hadn't been very menacing about it, though she hadn't quite factored her attire into it. Yep, having a person in a police uniform did not quite scream that she was just curious. So maybe... she had a bit of an accusatory tone in her voice, but she hadn't meant it, she really didn't. It was a kid - and some kids were explosive with their temper tantrums. She didn't mind it, but it would be preferable if she avoided it. Though, she'll admit herself, she probably look a bit suspicious herself. When the boy replied, though, Kyo certainly did not appreciate his tone that shown through. Though, it would be no help to start an uproar, so might as well be civil. "Oh, okay, if you're not drinking that's good, but maybe you should go up-" Oh, interrupted. Another kid?
Not a coincidence. Two kids here, there was no way the both of them got lost, right? There was an off chance that it was a possibility, but looking at the situation - the two seemed to know each other - there had to be something up. "No, he didn't do anything. I was just asking him an innocent question, is all." They seemed sweet, these kids, though Kyoko really didn't think it was too good of an idea for the two of them to be hanging about the wine cellar, of all places. She wasn't exactly sure how she was supposed to handle this. Common sense dictated that perhaps she should take the two kids up towards the main party, but that would also mean leaving the cellar and possibly rejoining the other security. And Kyo would really appreciate it if that didn't happen. But, she couldn't just leave the two young teenagers here! Though, she couldn't force them out of here.
"Kei!" Kyoko was glad to see her - she'd know what to do in this situation. Undoubtedly the best course of action would be to convince them to leave on their own accord, though the younger cop was unsure exactly how to do it. Intimidate them enough that they'll leave on their own? But she didn't want to do that - she really didn't. "Sorry, I know you wanted a break... but kids." She shot her an apologetic look for her... tendency to get mixed up in things she really shouldn't.
"Woah, woah hey there. Maybe you should be a little nicer with your language. That was insulting." Though not insulting to her, Kyoko really wasn't sure why he'd call them all fat cats. Sure, some of them - well, a lot of them - were fat, but some of them were sort of skinny. Slim. Uh, what was the word, not fat. She consciously looked at her own stomach to see if there was any visible flab. Nothing visible, of course, but her own body she would really not prefer to get into. Kyo turned towards the girl. "What about you, what are you doing down here?"

"Your timing is as wonderful as ever, Sheryl."
The white haired girl couldn't help speaking out, despite the situation. "Canis! I've told you over and over again I don't like being called Sheryl! Sherry. Call me that!" Unable to keep whine out of her voice, Sherry knew deep down no matter how much she protested, the brunet wouldn't likely change how he addressed her anytime soon. But it was just so unsatisfying to let him get away with it without some kind of protest. Besides, it managed to get her angry every time anyways.
It wasn't like his next answer to her question helped. "I didn't even ask you! I was asking the officer but no! You had to give your bad input!" Yelling in her head, all that actually came out of her mouth was, "Yet?! Don't tell me you're planning to do something! This is a fancy party, even you need to behave! More so than usual. And right in front of an officer too..." The last sentence was more of a complaint to herself, spoken with a lot less vigor and a lot more dread. Canis had the worst way with words, and not everyone could plow through his insults without doing something to him. If he ended up offending the wrong person... that would be absolutely terrible.
Sherry almost forgot the question was meant for the security lady. Canis's answer had quickly taken priority, but at least this one was polite and ungrouchy and a good thing. "Oh, I see. That's a relief then." It took a second for it all to click. "B-But oh my goodness! I'm sorry for barging in over nothing then!" She'd acted awfully rude, and her worries were wrong on top of it all...
And then another lady walked over. Judging by her outfit... another security lady walked over. "Are we attracting that much attention?" She asked if they were lost. Before she could say anything, though, Canis graciously beat her to it. Sherry almost wished he hadn't, though. At least she would have been polite and respectful before dragging him away before he could insult anyone an further.
"I-I'm not lost either, but Canis, don't be so rude! 'Fat cats' is not a nice thing to call people!" Though if they really were going to escort him through the crowd and out of the wine cellar, it was possibly hazardous to leave him on his own. "And if you're going to leave the cellar don't think I'm not coming along."
Her attention turned towards the police officer who she'd originally approached, and blinked. Her? "What am I doing down here? Well I heard there was excellent finger foods and drinks here from some other party goers' conversations, and I've been chasing waiters down for awhile now. But the drinks were wine so I couldn't get anything to drink like I thought I would." She wondered how Canis ended up here too, but even she could tell now wasn't exactly the time to ask.

If they were lost it was an honest mistake. They just should not be in the wine cellar. It wasn’t illegal for them to be down here since this was not an alcoholic establishment, but someone’s home. Still, she could not just leave underage minors in the wine cellar surrounded by alcohol.
”It’s alright,” Kei said to Kyoko. She had wanted a break but they were technically still on duty so this came first. ”It’s our job. It’s not like we have much of a choice,” she sighed. Perhaps one day, when she had worked enough hours and the police station was actually staffed with enough officers for once, she would be able to ask for that vacation she really needed. It didn’t even have to be that grand a vacation, just some time off so she could rest.
”Well it’s good that you’re not lost,” Kei smiled at the kids, ignoring the rude words that had come out of the boy’s mouth earlier. She had a soft spot for children, always did. That was probably why she and Kyoko worked so well together. It was because she was taking care of someone and because while she did the paperwork, Kyoko preferred to be outside and doing the physical work. ”But you really shouldn’t be down here where there’s alcohol present.”
Kei listened to the girl speak before continuing. At least one of them had manners. ”I’m glad that you know better than to take any of the wine,” Kei said to the white haired girl. ”I’m sure that there would be more food and drinks upstairs in the dining room. Would you like us to escort you two there?”

"Excuse me! Your attention please?!" One of the many attendants of the party called out to the nearby crowd. The clock had just stroked twelve, and there was a group of workers who just finished setting up a few large tv's so that everyone would be able to witness Mr. Lexington's speech. "If you would all look here please, Mr. Lexington will be making his speech now." The attendant turned on the TV and turned up the speakers, then waked away to continue doing their job.
The tv showed some of the events from stage one before the camera man was knocked over.
The tv showed the camera being knocked over, but by then whispers of worry were already moving around the cellar. The only people that seemed to not be worried where the ones already too drunk to even stand right. Do to the whispers and rising panic no one hear the clicking of nails to stone until it was too late. Near the only entrance/exit a large dog size rat with rotting skin and overgrown fangs. This rat, stood strong, one of the general's to Magnus' army, it screeched to call his followers. Two other rats appeared on top of the large wine barrels.
These rats growled and dug their claws and fangs into the wine barrels until the wood cracked opened. The wine started to spill out, but before hitting the floor the two rats used their powers to control the water and created walls of water to block the exit. Then the General ordered the attack. The two servant rats screeched a second time and out from the walls can smaller, normals rats. They swarmed in and jumped on some of the humans, snapping and screeching and biting. Two small rats jumped right up on Canis, crawling up his leg. One other rat went right for Keiko, jumping from a ceiling light and landing on her back, digging claws in and screeching.

Didn’t the girl get that if she didn’t like being called Sheryl, she would be called Sheryl for the rest of her life, as long as Canis had a hand in it? The young boy shrugged, his eyebrows lifted innocently, his lips a tight, guarded line.
Sheryl confronted him about his plans at the party, to which he responded with another nonchalant shrug and the same wide-eyed, bemused look that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. He figured it would be extremely annoying, because, well, it would have been extremely annoying if somebody else were doing it to him. It was a fancy party, though, and it would be extremely satisfying if he could do something and get away with it . . .
Sheryl seemed to have stolen Canis’ thunder (which, by all means, was acceptable—he didn’t want to have to deal with two police officers now), answering questions in an irritatingly cordial fashion that made him want to butt in with a rude, satirical remark. He took to stepping back, his back against the cold cellar wall, and uncomfortable shifted in his position as he watched the back of Sheryl’s head with an expression that could only be described as disgust.
At the offer, Canis turned his head to look at the second police officer. He was getting out of here? Yes, please.
“Yea—” he opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by a loud, short-haired woman who Canis supposed to be an attendant. Even from his position far in the back with the other three, he could still make out her figure clearly. She turned up the volume and ambled away, going about her attendant businesses. However, Canis was more interested in what Mr. Lexington had to say.
As the message went on, Canis’ face changed from one of boredom to a horrific amalgam of extreme amusement, interest, horror and disgust, all merging into one very confused and confusing expression masking his visage behind the masquerade mask. He stood erect, his hands crammed down the pockets of his trousers, and his brown hair tousled from sweat. He realized that he’d been holding his breath.
A few yelps of surprise brought his attention to the front of the room, where a large-looking rat had made itself apparent. Careworn fur, flies buzzing about its body like planets in orbit, and a very nasty set of overgrown fangs that Canis did not want to come into contact with. With a gulp, he pressed himself against the wall. His hands felt around it for comfort, an anchor in the hysteria.
Suddenly, a sickening, crawly feeling ran up his leg—literally. He gasped, letting out a loud cry of surprise, and leaped outwards, ramming into Sheryl’s back and nearly toppling both of them over. In his panic, he swiped at the two rats squealing and screeching, managing to smack one clean off of his shin, sending it skidding across the cold floor. The other rat was rapidly gaining distance, reach his kneecap and towards his thigh.
“Augh!”
Without a second thought, he rammed his knee into the wall. A disgusting squelching sound was heard. The rat had been thoroughly mangled, and the limp body fell to the ground like a rag doll. Canis screamed, both from disgust and from horror, taking a few steps back and supporting himself on a nearby table. It was all he could do from falling over.

Now that Kyoko thought about it, she did vaguely remember something about an announcement. If memory served, it was something big and it piqued her interest a bit. No, these kids, she should probably focusing on getting them up to where there was no wine. Sure, the food must be delicious, but if food was really what they were after wouldn't they have gone to the banquet hall? Maybe after the announcement they could escort them up and direct them to where there was more food.
For the moment though, Kyoko was half paying attention the the monitor. Something about a cage and hunting and her mind was already wandering to other subjects. It didn't seem as they could leave though, so the woman just waited for it to end. Her eyes were looking elsewhere, trying to find something to do as all the others were paying attention to the screens. By chance her eyes hopped onto one of them and she thought for a moment, maybe she should have been paying more attention. Because what was on the screen scared the living hell out of her. A colossal bug, in a cage, and maybe it wasn't such a good idea to escort the kids back up. And then it started speaking, and quickly Kyo found that tonight was definitely not going to go well. "Kuso! We have to get out of here, now." It gave the impression of an intelligent being, and even more pressing was the fact that it was powerful, and it had escaped.
As much as she would have loved to keep observing the scene, it was gone and her attention turned towards the crowd of people. A lot of people were drunk off their asses, and that definitely would work to their disadvantage if Kyoko wanted to get everyone out of here safe. There was nothing pressing thus far, but she was worried. She strained her ears, but she couldn't hear anything, not above the whispers of panic. "Calm down, there's nothing to be - damn it." Too late did she hear the clacks on the stone and she whirled around to the entrance of the wine cellar, and their only escape. To her horror it was blocked, and by a grotesque looking rat making the most shrilling shriek she had ever heard. She reached to grab her gun from it's holster when she was interrupted.
The boy... they had to go for him? He seemed perfectly capable himself, but there was a more pressing concern, that of her partner. "Kei!" There was a rat, on her back. Kyoko's first instinct was to shoot it, but she didn't want to risk accidentally shooting her in the back. "Get off her!" But the rat couldn't possibly understand, and if it could it definitely wouldn't do as she said. She would handle the other rats later... for now she focused on Kei. Where the heck was it? Her taser took too much difficulty to undo from her belt, the only thing left was her belt. Hopefully her partner wouldn't have the worst impression of her if she just suddenly charged at her with a knife aimed at her back. Nope, that definitely wasn't suspicious or potentially scary at all.
"Don't move, okay?" Just looking at her partner and the rat upon her back, it's claws digging to incite what must be a most painful sensation. Though she supposed involuntary movement... wasn't her fault. She made a rather crude stabbing motion at the rat. While Kei probably could have taken care of it by herself, just seeing something attack her was enough to drive Kyoko towards a bit of a... rage. Disgusting as the blood was, at least the rat fell limp. "Are you okay?" She quickly shifted her eyes towards the rat blocking their exit, to the other grotesquely big ones on the barrels, and then towards the two kids. "Are you guys alright?"
my muse sort of dwindled hence the quick and vague wrap up.

There was more food upstairs? Really? She had to have been listening in on the wrong people then. All Sherry's sources pointed to the wine cellar! "Oh definitely! Thank you!" she chirped, already imagining the fancy, delicious food waiting for her above. As Canis began what she was sure was a "yes" as well, all was going perfectly. However, an attendant cut in before anything else could be done. And before the brunet could finish speaking too.
Yet the white haired girl found she didn't linger on that for very long. Instead, anticipation grew, and her eyes became glued to the screen that the attendant lady person had talked about. "So that's that big important guy Max! I wonder what he's got to say. This whole party thing is about this I think, so it's gotta be big and important!" Listening as he began talking, the talk about hunting and being known for his testing of skills flew right over the fourteen year old's head. She had no idea who he was until a few days ago, so she had no way of knowing what he was known for.
But all the excitement building up inside her plummeted as the sheet was removed from the cage holding the giant bug. Flinching as she let out a screech, it looked... hideous? Scary? Both hideous and scary? Why were they gathered to see this thing? She didn't want to be within a hundred feet of it! If this was the main event, she might as well grab her food, eat, and go.
It was when the thing started talking that Sherry froze. "It's supposed to do that. That's part of the event too. That- it's gotta be..." She wasn't a part of something dangerous. Nothing was going to go wrong. That just didn't happen in real life. The steel bars of the cage holding the massive bug being cut by said bug smashed that thinking immediately. "I want to leave."
Her first instinct was to look towards the police officers, thank god she was near them. But even that wasn't any help when all attention was slowly but surely being directed towards the exits, panic with it. "What is that...?" Giant... giant... more giant, terrifying looking things! She thought it was only the bug. But... the bug had friends? Suddenly, rats were everywhere. The barrels that were apparently filled with wine were being cracked, and rats were now pouring in from the walls. There was nowhere to run. So what did she do?!
A force barreled into her, and the middle schooler almost got knocked to the ground her in shock. She could feel the stiffness in her movements, but before she could dwell on it long enough, she caught sight of Canis. "Canis!" There- There- There were rats crawling on him! She tried to move to get them off, or help in some way, but he beat her to it. Slamming his knee into the wall maybe wasn't the best way but she hardly cared about that. At least the rats were off, and blue eyes darted about to catch sight of more.
There were many more. Sherry did the first thing she thought of. Scrambling to get closer to Canis, she held fast to his arm without taking her gaze from the rest of the area. If any came close, she'd stomp them or something! Or... Or... Thoughts racing, her grip unconsciously tightened as the pressure and fear built up. She could't even find the words to scream for help.
A voice calling out that Sherry at least recognized as directed towards her allowed her to find her voice.
"N-No... No I am very much not alright! There are rats everywhere- what do we do!?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,bTable][atrb=style, width:350px]“just give me something lasting, to show the world that i was here!” waypoint | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,bTable][atrb=style, width:350px] Kei looked at the television screen with a mix of surprise and worry. The main hall was not where she had been stationed but with emergencies, she and Kyoko needed to be ready. If anything, they should have checked out the situation and made sure that people were alright. Hell, they might even have to do battle with the giant bug that had escaped from its cage. However what happened next was more than enough to deter her from leaving the wine cellar to join some of her fellow officers in the main ballroom.
Keiko had seen much through her lifetime as a police officer – it came with the territory. There were always the more difficult cases such as murders and kidnappings. Then there were the easy jobs such as patrols and security. In this case, this job that was supposed to be easy and boring has just transformed into something new entirely. Rats in a cellar were one thing. Normally, Kei could deal with those easily. She had entered places with rats, insects, and arachnids and was just fine. However, giant rats that had powers to control water were completely different.
Kei froze and blinked a few times in surprise. The sight did not seem real and yet it was happening right before her eyes. This was not scientifically possible. What in the world was going on?
Then the rats began to attack. There ws panic everywhere as people pushed and shoved in attempts to save themselves. Kei broke out of her daze and tried to think of a way to calm the situation. Her first priority was to help the people escape. However, before she could do anything several smaller rats attacked the quartet in their corner of the room. Kei did not notice the rat jump from the ceiling light until it was too late. The rat clawed at her back which was thankfully protected by the thick fabric of her uniform. Kei could still feel the painful scratches and the rat’s sharp teeth biting into her but the damage was not as bad as if she were wearing a flimsy dress. Perhaps not getting to dress up today was a blessing in disguise.
"Don't move, okay?"
At her partner’s words, the older policewoman froze. She could not see what was going on but a sudden squeal and a plop told her that the rat had died and was now on the floor. Kei probably would have found a way to get the rat off her back eventually but help from her partner was always appreciated.
”Thanks. Oh wait- the kids!” But once again Kyoko was already ahead of her. That was what was great about her partner. She may not have been the smartest and she was directionally challenged, but Kyo was always one to count on in tense and dangerous situations. Kei could put her trust in Kyo any day.
Kei looked the young girl. What to do indeed.
”First of all, we need everyone to calm down. You two stay back.” Kei pulled her gun out of its holster and surveyed her targets. She had a limited number of bullets and she wanted to be sure she did not waste them. There were too many rats to effectively kill them all and people’s safety was the first priority. They needed to escape somehow. ”All we can do is defend for now.”

With one rat impaled and another squished against the wall, the General barked out an order for the rats to return to him! Slowly, the hordes or rodents swarmed the floor and gathered around the General and his two pawns. For a moment, there was complete silence minus the soft sound of liquid billowing in mid-air. There were two police officers, both young women, and then the two runts. The General rose on its hind legs and stood, eyeing the small group of people that were now trapped in the wine cellar.
An introduction was necessary, yes. This general was unlike those other beasts, no this general wanted recognition for his own deeds. "Welcome, slaves, to my most humble abode! It delights me like none other to see young faces willing to offer services for our wonderful master. Please, allow me to introduce -" The general was cut off by the screams of a young woman, attempting to run down to the wine cellar to escape the chaos upstairs. As soon as she hit the stairs and saw the giant rodents, she froze, emitting a blood-curdling scream. On cue, the servents turned their eyes and manipulated the wine, taking portions of the wall and forcing the wine down into her lungs, slowly drowning her.
As the underlings continued with their work, the general continued his introduction, complete with his British accent (all while the young lady continues her gurgling screams). "Blast! My sincerest apologies for that interruption. Now, we may work things out in one of two ways. The first is simple: an oath to our magnificent master would be most appreciated but is not required. Why, you ask? Because the other option is simple: a swift, painful death. The choosing is yours, but time is running out! What shall you do?" At the end of his speech, the young lady fell over lifeless, sliding against the amorphous wall of wine. The General bared his fangs in a menacing smile, reinforcing his position of authority among the group.

Canis grunted in reply to the short-haired police officer. His face wrinkled in vexation at the police officer. Does she think we’ll be just fine and dandy? No! We’re being attacked by giant, disgusting rats! Amidst the chaos, the young brunet had the time to shake his head disapprovingly.
“We all want to leave,” spat Canis, kicking a relatively small rat that had scurried over to his feet, fangs bared. It was hurled across the stone floor, its ugly squeals lost in the deafening blanket of confusion and hysteria. Sheryl latched herself onto Canis’ arm, much to his surprise. He considered the thought of throwing her off, but there were other things to think about, and throwing a girl into a swarm of rats was a low that even he could not achieve. Instead, he desperately looked towards the two police officer, seeking guidance.
The horror that bubbled in the pit of his stomach reminded him of the event that occurred on that bleak, rainy day. He couldn’t bear to bring up the memories, but they all came back to him anyway—a white-haired horror, the woman whose skull was cracked open in a grotesque display, her limp body hitting the ground with a muffled thud. He wouldn’t have survived if it weren’t for the orange-haired muscle man.
He shook his head, relishing in the safety of a wall behind his back. “Way ahead of you there.” Canis glanced nervously at Sheryl, who was still holding onto his arm like a terrified dog. He was reminded of his little sister, and a feeling of responsibility awoke inside of him. He suddenly felt like he had a duty to protect her, no matter how downright annoying she may be.
“Get behind me, you fool,” he hissed, stepping away from the wall to shove her behind him, kicking another stray rat across the floor. He reveled in his newfound strength, but the satisfaction was short-lived. As the rats seemingly retreated to the largest rats blocking the exit, the biggest one stood on his hind legs to reach a disturbing height and looked straight at him. A cold shiver ran up and down his spine, rendering him paralyzed for a few moments.
Canis watched in horror as the giant rat began to speak, and bit his lower lip to keep him silent. A young woman with long, curly hair that bounced with each step bolted for the door shrieking like a banshee. Canis made sure to direct a torrent of silent profanity in her direction for being an idiot, but he froze in fear as wine leaked from out of the barrels and into her body, effectively drowning the woman in the cruellest way possible.
That. Is. Not. Possible.
He gritted his teeth, one hand straying to keep Sheryl behind him as he turned to face the giant rat. The options were simple: Pledge allegiance or die. When they were laid out so simply, he knew what he was going to do. He struggled to bite back whatever snarky comments that threatened to arise as he stepped forward, a hand over his heart. A bead of sweat trickled down the side of his face, and he could almost barely cough up the words.
“I, Canis, pledge allegiance to—to,” he choked, “your . . . magnificent master.” It was only a few words that he didn’t mean. What was the harm?

Or were you going to get sarcastic on me and say because you're replying that you are?" Kids these days. Kyoko would have given them a piece of her mind given any other ordinary circumstance. "But are you guys hurt?" She didn't wait for an answer. Although these two were really the only children in the cellar (as far as her eye could see) and were top priority, she couldn't forget the other ones, quite drunk. There was nothing they could do, they were practically trapped. They had to fight their way through, and half the people in the cellar were in no condition to fight. The rats weren't playing fair, they'd probably all die, even looking at the bright side of things.
The cop pulled out her gun and was about to shoot one of the bigger ones in the skull - or was about to when all the rats got called back. She wanted to save as much ammunition as she could, because she was limited. The officers up in the main hall probably had more, but looking at what she knew of the main hall, they were preoccupied with a bigger bug to deal with. Kei was way ahead of her - all they really could do was defend. As much as Kyoko wanted to shoot wildly at the rats, she couldn't risk the safety of the other people. No, she had to do what she was hired to do and protect the guests at all costs.
The children did come first, though, so Kyoko stayed closer to them. They formed a group of four. The others should be able to handle themselves. Or at least, fare much better than the two kids. She aimed her gun towards the other rats. "What the hell do you want?" Kyoko didn't expect an answer, but she got one, much to her confusion. For a second she looked around, trying to locate the sound of the thick British voice. Then she realized, judging by the content of what he said it was the rat.
No it wasn't, rats couldn't talk. Then again, rats couldn't manipulate water either. This was her imagination, and when it stopped overreacting she'll just find that these rats were actually human beings in super realistic rat costumes. It still didn't explain the water either. Still. A woman screamed somewhere, and she turned to look behind her. Not there. In front of her? Well there was no one there... only... past the water barrier. "No, get away, go back up there!" Of course, up there was probably not faring as well. She stopped in her tracks and Kyoko just about slapped herself. "Don't just stand there, run!" Of course, she did as a stereotypical dumb woman did, and proceeded to die in the process. In the worst way the cop could possibly imagine.
"What... what are you?!" She could still hear her struggling, the bubbling sound of wine as it was shoved down her throat. And the British rat, it just kept talking, and talking. And Kyoko just got angrier and angrier. "Oath to you?" Bullshit. There was no way she was going to do that. Even in death. "No way I'm gonna oath to you, rodent." She was probably going to die. But her pride was never going to let her admit to be a subordinate of something so disgusting and so... below her. "I'd rather die than do that." Well... she really didn't want to get drowned by wine. She wouldn't let herself oath. Not even pretend oath. So she tried another tactic.
"How would you make this worthwhile? You'll be out of a capable human servant if you kill me." She still wouldn't be convinced, but better not let that rat monster know.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,bTable][atrb=style, width:350px]“just give me something lasting, to show the world that i was here!” waypoint | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,bTable][atrb=style, width:350px] That kid…
Keiko frowned in irritation. Keiko heard what the boy had said but continued o face the rats. She was not stupid enough to turn her back on the enemy but the blonde boy was beginning to irritate her. Being rude in a safe situation was uncalled for but she could tolerate it. But being sarcastic, annoying, and unhelpful in a situation where their lives were on the line was not helpful in the least. Kei made a mental note to give the kid a good whack in the back of the head once they got out. If they got out, that is.
|
[/i] Kei braced herself, unsure which of the rats would attack them next. A loud bark (did rats bark?) resounded through the room and immediately the numerous rodents retreated back into position. Kei watched them go towards what was definitely the largest rat she had ever seen in her life. Kei held up her gun and aimed for the giant rat. Not only was it the largest and easiest target, the stupid creature seemed to be in control. Kei could have easily shot the thing but in this situation she did not know exactly how to act. Shooting it could result in any number of results, the worst of which resulted in them provoking the rats and killing them all. No, they needed to move with extreme caution. There was no telling what the furry, little bastards could do. When the gigantic rat stood up and began speaking, Kei nearly dropped her gun from the shock. That was not possible. Animals did not just get up and start talking. Then again, animals could not control liquids like they were doing now. Kei paid little attention to what the rats were saying. Midway through its speech, a woman ran across the room in a clear attempt to flee for her life. Kyoko shouted for the woman to back away but she did not listen and ended up dying in a horrific manner. Kei gripped her gun tighter. No matter what plan she came up with, there was a good chance they would not get out unscathed. However, the rat was talking. Perhaps they would be able to negotiate their way through this. This was, after all, a hostage case. A very atypical hostage case, but a hostage case nonetheless. She had been trained for this. She could at least buy time if need be. Kei listened to her partner and the brat behind them talk to the rat. The Japanese woman could understand her partner’s pride but now was not the time for it. Kei prayed the rat could not understand Japanese before speaking to her partner. ”Kyoko, now is not the time for this.” Kei murmured. ”The kid has the right idea. We need to agree if only to buy time to get ourselves out of this.”Kei kept her hold on her gun but stopped aiming it at the rat. She switched back to English to address it. ”And who is your master? Why should we pledge our allegiance to him?” Kei needed to keep it talking. Perhaps she they could figure something out in the meantime. [/div][/td][/tr][/table] [/center]

"Ah, boy, you would make quite the servant...in perhaps ten years. However, I imagine the flawless young princess behind you would fetch a wonderful price on the slave market." The smaller rats gathered at the sound of the General snap, meeting at his left side. He prepared to launch another attack, but he still had some unfinished business to take care of - the two young ladies.
The smell of rotting flesh portruded the air as the general spoke again. "As for you two, there could be many glorious opportunities. You, the one with the mouth." He lifted his hand and pointed directly ahead of her. "I should cause your blood to boil, which would be a most painful death indeed. Your friend," His finger slowly moved to the other officer "has the right idea. I wouldn't expect anyone to just agree to join me without knowing what they might be getting themselves into." He turned and faced the fall before beginning his speech.
"You see, our master, Magnus, has plans to take over and rule. To do that, we are going to need young slaves and workers to help build our own utopia - a world just for us. Oh, and I wouldn't attempt anything - I can still see you all. But I digress!" He turned and faced the small group once more, reaching out as if he were a friend. "I ask of you, all of you: would you care to live to see a new world, or die a most horrid death in a wine cellar of some rich bloke that you know nothing of? The answer is quite simple, really."
