Living Situation Surface Situation Upon moving to L.A., Louisa's background as a practically-certified mountain hick and old-time music enthusiast earned her a job as a radio co-host. She's on "Sunshine After Dark," the evening block of 101.9 The Sunshine Station, where her enthusiasm and folksy accent make her a proper foil to her fellow host's more mellow tones. While the job provides steady income, it's stretched pretty thin by the expenses of the big city. That's okay, though! Louisa stands by the merits of a rugged lifestyle. She doesn't need much more than her shithole apartment and enough food to fill her up. She doesn't have much in the way of people's everyday possessions, and she wears everything down to the last thread. She's thrifty to a fault. She patches her clothes, doesn't have cable, and makes her own alcohol. Her pickup's an old piece of glorious junk. Her most extravagant belongings are those that have largely been provided for her, which brings us to her… Underbelly: Louisa is a monster hunter for the Impedio Society. She has a lot of guns, knives, traps, and other such accessories. This assignment has mostly included following intel and whisperings to various (usually-remote) locations to capture and/or kill various creatures that that the rest of the world considers cryptids, if they give them any consideration at all. In this capacity, she's been sent to L.A. in response to the recent surge of activity in the area. 03. Personality Louisa, by the large, is what you get on the surface, and what you get on the surface is a loud, brash, hillbilly. She has little in the way of a brain-to-mouth filter, and she voices all of her arguments and opinions in an unrestrained, Southern Appalachian accent. Given her tendency to be an open speaker, it quickly becomes evident to those around her that she's unconventional (at least for Southern California) and not-too-bright. She curses a lot, has little in the way of good manners, laughs loudly at the expense of others, and can't do math too good. However uncouth she is, however, she is also nonchalant and friendly in nature with a desire to educate others in the merits of simplicity. What makes her a stranger to the city's lifestyle might also make her seem charming in the eyes of others. She's thrifty, self-reliant, folksy, and frank. Basically, she's what hipsters want to be without the pretension. All that said, her alternative lifestyle also includes (much more secretly) a lifelong education under the Impedio Society's mission. She grew up relatively isolated and was raised to be a trapper and killer. This gives her a somewhat skewed view from the norm of life and folks' place in it, and, while her training and history have largely dictated work with non-human entities, she tends to view others through the lens of a hunter. She instinctively sizes people and locations up and measures the best way to do her job, if it should hypothetically come to that. She quietly keeps track of weaknesses, counts exits, and keeps a tarp and a canister of gasoline handy in her truck. With all the stuff going on in L.A…. It'd be a pity to have to get after a person, sure, but she'd do it and wouldn't dwell on it too much. Greater good and all. C'est la vie, and them Frenchies say. tl;dr, Louisa's a hick in the big city with a secret career as a hunter/trapper, and she's pretty into her work. 04. History In 1890, two cowboys shot down a supposed "Thunderbird" outside of Tombstone, Arizona. While written off historically as a local newspaper's hoax, common for that time period, the tale actually isn't so tall. The kill was a fluke, but it got the ball rolling on one of the cowboy's unexpected career change. Nelson Goforth thereafter became somewhat fascinated with mysteries, especially mysterious beasties. This eventually led to his induction into the Impedio Society. A hundred years isn't that long, given the Society's history, but Louisa was nevertheless born into it. Her family always carried out the same role, too, like it was a prized possession. They've all been trappers and hunters, diligent and passionate, and they've all been pretty good for it. Born to William and Margaret Goforth, Louisa grew up in small-town Appalachia. There, she received a public school education through middle school and additional, though low-key, homeschooling in matters related to the Society. After middle school, she moved on to a full-time homeschooling situation. While her parents were sure to comply with all State requirements, the bulk of her remaining education was focused on grooming her in her family's coveted position. While her mother stayed in town with her two younger siblings, Louisa moved from her hometown with her father, who took her into the Blue Ridge to begin a regimen of survival training, trapping, and shooting things dead. Tough though it was, Louisa survived and, with constant exposure and good work ethic, proved herself more than sufficient. By eighteen, she could track, trap, cleanly kill, skin, butcher, and mount with the best of 'em. Her core education completed, Louisa came out of the mountains to report to Impedio Society proper in Apex, North Carolina. From there, Louisa began stage-one work in monster hunts, working to assist more experienced hunters and eventually working her way up. She maintained a good record of not dying in the line of duty and has thus far proven that, even if she's not competent in much else, she's a competent successor in her family's profession. Recently, growing levels of activity in L.A. have prompted Louisa's move cross-country. She's not particularly fond of the assignment, but she's determined to make the best of it. 05. Artifact Information Louisa's artifact is a whistle designed to attract supernatural creatures within hearing range. It's basically a small pennywhistle, plain in appearance, but it's also ~magic~. She wears it attached to a chain around her neck. 06.
