Living Situation Apartment Floor Plan Vincenzo rents a one bed, one bath apartment in Glendale, Los Angeles. His apartment has internet but no cable since Vincenzo is not really into watching television, unless it is the weather or the news. He owns a cat that has taken over a corner of the living room with it’s kitty condo, but other then the little touches here and there from basic furniture and the cat’s bed and condo, Vincenzo’s apartment is rather bland. His walls are bare of any pictures, off white walls is that main focus of the house. He has a dinner table that is hardly used, along with the dishwasher and other parts of his house. Even his bed room is left to have little character to it. Other than a bed, a closet and a work desk there is not much to this room. The bed is always made and looks as if it is hardly ever use, which is true, what time Vincenzo does use to sleep he tends to just spend on the living room couch. Police Officer - Detective Recently transferred from NYC, Vincenzo works as a police detective, taking on investigations of different crimes, and doing his best to solve these cases. He makes about $55,000 a year, which gives him access to nice apartment in a decent area and his overworked 2004 Dodge Stratus. 02. Appearance Vencenzo reaches a height of 5’9”, has medium length black hair and brown eyes. He sports an athletic built that was formed from his four years of baseball in high school and his three or four years in the police force. His skin tone is pretty white but unlike some with light skin, due to his years living in Italy his skin hardly burns (unless out in the sun and in contact with saltwater) and does well to tan, only to peel later and always go back to being a light tone. He has a few scars here and there, most without a story to follow. Although there is two scars that Vincenzo still has a hard time looking at. The two cause by bullet wounds when he was shot at the age of twenty. One is found on his abdomen while the other is a mark on his right shoulder. Both had healed pretty well but still left marks to remind him of his past. Vincenzo’s style of clothing is rather plain, normally a t-shirt and sweats when relaxing at home. While he may dress up a bit more when going out or at work, he does own a few suits, at least one nice vest, a few dress shirts and a boat load of ties. Vincenzo is bare of any tattoos or piercings, making him rather normal in appearance. 03. Personality Distant; Both physically and emotionally, Vincenzo likes to keep to himself. He worries about sharing too much with co-workers or even with people he may call his friends. Vincenzo has dealt with so much already that he fears that sharing too much might lead to trouble in the end. Of course there have been a few people that have broken passed his barriers, which is fine, but he still worries. Endures; He can take so much, whether it be physical or mental abuse, Vincenzo is known to take a lot and still keep on ticking. He has only been so lucky thanks to the people in his life and his own determination. Although not perfect it takes a lot to bring this man down. Focused; Sometimes he is told that he has a one track mind, instead it is more like Vincenzo needs to put all his attention on just one or two things at a time. Failure is not an option and he does not like the idea of only putting a small amount of attention into his work. He tends to put his all into everything he does, which may, or may not be a good thing for him. It can also be a double edge sword for the man, putting his all can equal to wonderful results. Yet if he is not careful and collects too many subjects that need attention, Vincenzo can stress and overwork himself. Honest; Vincenzo can be found to be both open and blunt with his thoughts, honesty seems to be a trait of his that can get him into a bit of trouble, mattering on who he is dealing with. Although he can be blunt, Vincenzo does try to cover his words with a bit of flare. His insults can be hidden in compliments, while his honest remarks can harbor malice or pure honesty in the same sentence. Although Vincenzo favors being honest he had learned over the years that some people are better off being slightly lied to, or never given whole truths. Normally Vincenzo only has to worry about this when it comes to work. Alert/Aware of others; Vincenzo tends to do what some would call people watch. Most likely adapted from his job, Vincenzo will intentionally watch people in both body language and how they choose to use spoken responses. Although his judgement is based on just what he knows at the time, Vincenzo likes to use what he can learn just from a person’s reaction to his own advantage. He normally just uses his attention to detail to make sure that people are not hiding some sort of stress when being questioned or that a suspect is not twitching to reach for a hidden weapon. Tolerant; Vincenzo’s tolerance is on its way of being unmatched by even his father, whether it be the cat, a child or even an annoying co-worker, Vincenzo can put up with a lot and willing to do so with little trouble. Unknown to why he is so good at it, many woman have mention to him that he would make a wonderful father. Still he does have limits, his tolerance to people does not include any endangerment to themselves or others, or the mistreatment of others. The chance of him acting on how he feels will be determined by the situation he is in. Devoted to Family; The most important thing to Vincenzo is family, ever since he was a child one thing that has always stuck with him as truth was “The family bond is unbreakable.” Vincenzo has a ton of love and respect for his family and would do a lot for them, knowing that in turn they would do the same. He finds himself very close to his father, half-siblings and even his aunt and cousin. There is one thought that will cross his mind often. That one day his own family will be just as close, and yes he does look forward to the day he has his own wife and children. Loyal; Vincenzo is good to his word when it really counts, knowing that loyalty must be earned first. Vincenzo is that type of man, his loyalty knows no bounds to those that have earned it. He does not look well upon betrayal at least if it is against himself or someone he cares about. For someone to betray his trust is a step towards a rough path of redemption. Protective; A trait that started when he was very young, Vincenzo is very protective of the people closest to him, whether it be family, friends or lovers. His need to protect others can even go as far as risking his life for them or causing himself to be irrational with what a person should be allowed to do if it is deemed dangerous. He does not want to let anyone he cares about get hurt and can reach a pit of despair if he feels that he has failed in protecting someone. Work-a-holic; Although not as bad as some people could be, Vincenzo does live his life dedicated to his job, working extra shift and even taking work home if he can get away with it. Vincenzo enjoys the work he does both feeling that it is something that he needs to do and that it is a means to an end. Vincenzo is the type to put his all into his work, and finds himself losing out on friends and relationships because of it. Yet he has not tried to change his ways, since his goals for the time being are more important than a missed date. 04. History Vincenzo Moretti was born to two rather interesting people, Sergio Moretti and Lucia Allegri, and though they grew up as childhood friends, they spent most of their later years apart. His father was an older man, a kind soul with romantic feelings toward his best friend for years. Yet he was what some would call a coward, he loved her since he was young, but never shared his feelings, unsure if his love could be returned. They grew up, but when they were in their late teens, Lucia was forced to move with her parents to Italy. Her father had received a wonderful job offer and it made sense that the whole family would move together. Sergio made the move easy for Lucia, he neither confessed his love and practically pushed her out the door. He cared enough about her to feel that she would be happier with her family, to continue on with her life goals without getting in her way. They did, however, keep in touch. Letters were sent back and forth for the next eight years or so, but Sergio eventually got married and Lucia went on to stay single and open up a bookstore. Eventually, Sergio had two children from a woman that he swore to love, but the love quickly faded. One day he decided that he wanted nothing more than to see his best friend in person, to tell her how he had always felt and get the guilt out of his system. He was in his late twenties, almost thirty now, and knew that he was only getting older. Sergio lied to his wife and told her that he needed to go to Italy to see his family, but if she had really known him, perhaps even loved him, she would have seen through it. His family was mostly in the states now, and what family he did have in Italy had passed on more than two years before. She was only with him for her own gain, as she was able to control him, trick him and use him for all of her financial needs. As unhappy as he was, there was one person that kept his spirits up. Lucia. The letters he shared with her helped him carry on with his life, even if it was not as he had dreamed it would be. His choice to visit, to buy the plane ticket, had all been an impulse. All he wanted to do was see her, speak in person and let her know how he still felt, and he did not expect anything in return. Sergio only stayed for two weeks, but he would not regret it. They talked, laughed and even cried, and then with little warning their friendship changed into passionate nights of a lost love that was re-kindled for a short time. It broke his heart when on his last day in Italy he left her a long letter that explained why it could not last. He did not want to leave and return to the wife he suffered to love, but because he had children, they needed a father. Vincenzo’s mother took the letter as well as one would expect, but she knew that his heart would always be for his children first, and she could not blame him for that. And so Lucia returned to her own life, resuming work at the small bookstore that she owned, placing all of her heart and soul into her work. Sadly, not all had went as planned. A couple of weeks after Sergio’s visit she found out that she was pregnant. She feared to tell her love of the news, not that she was scared of what he would say, but she worried that he would do something drastic and leave the wife and children he already had, all for her sake. So instead, she kept the news a secret and decided that she would keep the child. It would be a hard road, but she also wanted to remind herself that love could create beautiful things. She gave birth to Vincenzo on January, 23rd 1983. It was in the early morning and the only support she had at the time was a good friend of hers. Truthfully, Lucia had met her new friend shortly after she became pregnant. He was an avid visitor of her store and they ended up connecting and hitting it off. Of course she had a baby to worry about so the idea of romance was out the window, but he did well as a good friend. Even after Vincenzo was born this man stayed around, helped out where he could, and became someone important to Vincenzo’s mother. Two years later, they not only married but had their own child together. Vincenzo was raised to not call this new man in her life “father” but by his actual name instead. Angelo, that was who he grew to know. His sister Angela, (so lovely named after her father in a way) was a sweet thing and probably the best baby sister a guy could have. It did not make much sense to the young Vincenzo, but he knew that with a real father or not, these people were his family. And even though Angelo was not his father, the man still helped to raise Vincenzo, though he showed open favoritism to his daughter. He taught the boy that family ties were important and that no matter what, Vincenzo needed to grow to be a good man that would always be able to protect his mother and sister. Following Angelo’s words Vincenzo did his best to be a good son and brother. He wasn’t the best at school but proved that no matter the circumstances, he would pour his heart and soul into his work. As they grew, Vincenzo became Angela’s protector, keeping her safe from everything and anything that could harm her. However, when Vincenzo was eleven, Angelo disappeared from their lives, leaving Vincenzo, his mother, and his nine year old sister to fend for themselves. Vincenzo’s mother couldn’t explain it well to her children, but she had felt that over the years her husband had been growing distant. She cried for many nights, but knew that he did not leave by force, since he had left her a simple note and some money to carry on. She did not know where he went, but due to how much he used to speak about the states she guessed that maybe he had moved there. Vincenzo continued to be the good boy that he was, helping his mother with what he could, while also spending time with his sister, making sure she was always happy. Vincenzo spent the next three years being the man of the house, growing up quickly for a fourteen year old boy. He still loved to play games, using his sister as an excuse for anything fun, but around his mother and school he only did what he felt was expected of him. He did chores, helped with the shop, and always pushed to get all his homework done in a timely manner. This was also the year his life started to change for the better. His mother closed the shop, with the sole reason that they would be moving soon. Only later, on the plane to the states did she explain that they were going to be living with his father. By this age Vincenzo understood who his father was, was shown pictures and told only a year earlier that his father did not know of his own son. Instead he knew about Angela, a child that was not his; this of course caused confusion for Vincenzo, but he relied on his mother and trusted in her judgment. Eventually they would show up at his father’s home in Detroit, Michigan. There they were invited in by a man Vincenzo only knew in stories. His father had been expecting Vincenzo’s mother and sister, but not the young man that followed them. He asked the boy his name and was in shock when he responded with “Vincenzo Moretti.” The shock was replaced by tears, as he asked for an explanation from Vincenzo’s mother. They were offered food and introduced to the rest of the household, which included an Aunt, his two half-siblings and a cousin. The woman that was the mother of his half-siblings was long gone. She had left a few years earlier when she found a younger, richer man to be with. From once having a small family made of himself, his sister and his mother, he now had a large family, one that happily took everyone in with open arms. His father surprised Vincenzo, as the man was kind, and quiet in the way he spoke. As time wore on, Vincenzo continued the next four years fairly happy and content, he resumed his schooling and only got better with his grades and learned to balance both work and fun. He had a girlfriend, was still playing protector for his sister, and was into playing baseball for his high school. He probably would have continued playing into college, maybe even becoming a star one day, but when Vincenzo was around eighteen his mother passed away. It was said to be an accident, that she must have been distracted when her car swerved off the road. Whether it was a driver error accident or not was still up for debate, but Vincenzo and his sister could do nothing but continue on with their lives, as there was little evidence to the contrary. After his mother’s death passed in a hectic blur, his sister started getting phone calls from Angelo. He had been missing from his daughter’s life for over six years, and she had taken it pretty badly, as she should have. She told him that she wanted nothing to do with him, but that did not stop him from trying to connect with his daughter again. One day, Angela asked her brother if they could go on a long trip, far away. Vincenzo was a sucker for wanting to do anything that made his sister happy, her stories of her father showing up all these years had been enough to convince him that something needed to be done. He spoke with his father and they decided that Vincenzo and his sister could move back to Italy for some time, viewing it as a long vacation. They had thought that Angelo was just going about things the wrong way, and that if they left for a while he would get the hint that his daughter wanted nothing to do with him. He had taken his father’s advice, taking Angela back to Italy where they could hopefully fall off the radar and live away from the worry that one man was causing his little sister. He took a job working for some of his father’s good friends, people that owed him a favor and were willing to help out. Vincenzo went into overdrive in his need to protect his sister, although they should have been well out of the reach of Angelo, but no one could of expected what would happened only two years later. Vincenzo had never thought to get his sister’s name changed. Her name, Angela Barzetti was a reminder of his mother’s last husband. There was no way for them to know that there was more to Angelo then they had ever known. The man was part of the Italian-American mafia, fairly dangerous and was determined to get what was his. Angelo had sent his men to collect his daughter from Italy, and even made sure that they gave Vincenzo a message, a thank you of sorts. The men threatened him, telling him to just give up on ever seeing his sister again. They informed him that the girl would be well taken care of, but there was just no place for Vincenzo in the family. Of course the twenty year old did his best to fight for his sister, but two gunshots from a trigger happy goon was enough to put Vincenzo down for a while. He took a shot to his shoulder and a shot to the abdomen which sent him to the hospital. To say that Vincenzo was destroyed from the encounter was an understatement. He was so broken with his sister gone. While in the hospital he spent his time thinking of what he could do, how could he get his sister back. Entering the Mafia himself and working his way towards Angelo was his first idea, but was a stupid one. He needed something solid, something that could get him close enough to save his sister, but also get rid of Angelo once and for all. Becoming a cop became his only good plan, and if was a very basic plan at that. Being a police officer would not save his sister right away, but it would give him the means to find someone who could. He had no clue where to start, where to go, or even how he would find where Angelo was. All he knew was that the man and his sister were in the states. If he couldn't do it, he would at least be able to gain the means to find someone that could; it would both save his sister and put Angelo away forever. Becoming a cop was also a way for Vincenzo to redeem himself, he could not protect his sister, but would make sure that he did for others what he could not do for one person. He spent almost an extra year in Italy, planning his future in a hospital bed and tending his wounds. He moved back to the states at the age of 21 and entered college in Virginia, aiming straight for a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Near the end of his schooling he also entered the Police academy and began his long term goal, a goal that had more holes in it then he was willing to admit. At least he knew that his sister was not going to be harmed, just that Angelo wanted what was rightfully his, his daughter, to be close and under his control. Vincenzo knew she was alive by how Angela would send him letters. They were mailed to his father’s house, and then his father would forward the same letters to a PO. box of Vincenzo’s choice. Vincenzo’s need to do well shined through during both his schooling and his time in the academy. Vincenzo grew to only focus on the job at hand, pushing himself everyday to be better, stronger, faster. He graduated at the top of his class and although his hard work had paid off he still had a very long way to go to reach his end goal. A few months into his work in Virginia, Vincenzo received an offer to move to New York and took the job in hopes that any new experiences would help him become even better in his work. There he met his most memorable ex-girlfriend, she was a lovely women, a bit on the demanding side, but was a good women nonetheless. She had been the one that kept Vincenzo’s attention the longest, and he even went so far as to buy her a pet cat, the Egyptian Mau that he is still stuck with to this day. Because of just how much energy Vincenzo was putting into his work, he lost track of what was important in their relationship and in time he was dumped. He worked as a uniformed cop for the next three or so years and then was given a new job offer in L.A. California. He was not immediately excited about the move, mostly due to the fact that he had only been a few months into his Detective position. His boss at the time had convinced him that the move would be good for him, a little change of pace and a new set of crimes to deal with. In the end Vincenzo took the job offer and moved out to L.A. in the month of May, 2012. 05. PETS. The spoiled princess of the house, Caprina (which means Unpredictable) was the left over from a past relationship in New York. Vincenzo had be dating a working woman, and had thought that they had a fair amount in common, but when she started to complain that he did not spend enough time with her he had thoughts that a pet was the answer. He brought the cat and the gift worked for a short time. The kitten had been cute and distracting, but soon enough his ex got fed up and left. She left the cat with him and he has learned to love the creature. She is his family, the only family he has while he works and spends most of his time alone. Although spoiled to high heaven, Vincenzo feels that she is a good cat and very smart. 06. MISC. ● Although it been years since he played baseball Vincenzo still has a passion for the sport and has convinced himself to visit the batting cages from time to time. ● Vincenzo is a decent shot, but his real skill lies in his knowledge of close-quarters-combat. Habits; Taken to being called the man with no faults at work, Vincenzo is far away from perfect, having a taste in alcohol and passing most of his drinking as a social habit, although he likes to drink in his home alone as well. Vincenzo also has a weakness for smoking cigarettes, but due to how demanding his work can be on his body Vincenzo finds himself only smoking when he finds himself stressed beyond words. Some other habits, that are not as damaging is his need to do some form of exercise, whether it be a few push-ups or a nightly jog around the block. Vincenzo’s other nightly habit when not mulling over work is to take a book and read for at least 15 minutes a night. Although he likes to read a large range of book types, he does have a hidden enjoyment for fantasy romance novels. |
