May 15th 12 PM 25 degrees Celsius, Slightly Overcast, Mostly Sunny Lucas slumped in the bench in the garden, gazing into the flowers. His clothing was a little rough around the edges and he hadn’t shaved that morning. He managed to get a job at a local fitness store, a stable job. He needed stability in his life, something constant and calm. Since he moved to Los Angeles his life had gone insane. Maybe this was karma getting back at him for running away from home? Maybe this was all a dream he was having, and he was still on the plane. Maybe this was really what his life had become and he was now trapped in a war he never wanted to be a part of. He still remembered that lady. The chick who told them about fate, and other such things. He wanted to speak to her, maybe get more information. Hell, maybe she knew a way to make it all stop, and he could go back to his normal life.
He pulled out his phone and immediately frowned. He had changed his background to a picture of Alec. He missed the little guy. He hadn’t seen him since he left in an ambulance. A side of himself he didn’t want Alec to see surfaced. Like his father, he had a temper, and it emerged at his inability to protect Alec. He sighed and sent the kid a message, just a message to say he was still around, and that he was sorry. He wasn’t sure how much time had passed, but it felt like forever.
The hulking redhead returned his gaze to the exotic flowers in the garden. It was always in nature and around plants that he felt at ease; his thoughts made more sense and it was easier to think. He’d have to get Alec a gift of some sort, that’s what the guy in a relationship did, right? He wasn’t sure at all. His father never spoke about relationships. He was going in blind as a bat. With a sigh he put his hands into his face, hoping the kid still had any respect for him.
He got up from the bench, and slowly walked along the path, observing the blooming flowers. He adjusted his hoodie, zipping it a little higher and making sure his hood covered his face. Last thing he wanted was fate finding him here. He just wanted to enjoy the day, a figure out what he was going to do with his life. He walked through the garden, not watching where he was going. His foot sunk unto a missing cobble stone and he fell forward, his phone flinging out of his pocket and rolling along the ground a good ways. “Crap!” he shouted as he noticed it was missing.

If Yuudai saw one more pidgeon he was going to scream. He'd never been much of an animal person to begin with, preferring to keep to himself rather then littering his apartment with small creatures, but he could certainly appreciate animals when they were in cages. The zoo was a pleasant distraction, a nice day away from the life he considered his own. He got to see animals that were native back in Japan, and completely foreign here, and it let him spend a day without having to think about anything at all.
And then the pigeons had come. A whole flock of them, easily fifteen or twenty birds, and they would not leave him alone. At first it had simply been an amusing coincidence--had someone who looked like him fed them before or something? But by ten minutes into his time in the zoo it was grating on him. He could hardly take a step without kicking one of the damn things, and even then they were still circling his ankles like a pack of the least threatening sharks ever. He'd headed into an indoor part of the zoo, happy to be free of them, and had largely let himself forget them--until he'd gotten to the other side.
They'd been waiting there, like a tiny bird mafia, and had gone right back to harassing him. At least two members of the zoo staff had been stopped and stared at the ridiculous sight, a well dressed Japanese man trudging through a sea of pigeons. He'd headed away from the animals, hoping they'd leave, and they still hadn't. He was starting to wonder if they were going to start following him home, and he scowled as he stalked through the gardens, kicking a bird every third or fourth step.
It was at that point that he heard a clatter, and something tumbled by him. He didn't even get a good look at what it was before the flock had simply surged over it, and whatever it was was lost in Yuudai's own personal herd of pigeons. Someone swore not far from him, and he paused, glancing over although the man was largely out of sight, and called out.
"Whatever you dropped is over here. Good luck getting to it." It was probably going to have pigeon shit on it too.

Lucas got up off of the cold ground and looked around for his device. Instead of the empty walk way he knew of, he was face with a sea of feathery rats. “Gah! Pigeons!” He exclaimed, amazed at the sheer amount that had swarmed from nowhere He approached the man at the epicenter of the pigeon swarm and looked around carefully. Last thing he needed to do was step on his phone. “Shit shit shit. Where the hell did all these feathery demons come from?!” he said, gingerly walking through the cooing mass.
He felt his shoes hit something, but it was a bird, and not a phone. “Christ man, how’d you manage to get all these bird to follow you?” He asked incredulously, carefully shoving a few of the birds aside with his foot. They took off quickly and landed closer to the man, he was an Asian of some sort. He sighed, the feather mass was making it really hard to see the ground, and he had no idea where to even look for his phone at this point. For a second he pictured making a sword, and slicing these things up so as to get to his goal, however he was certain virgin wouldn’t cover blood damage.
He could probably deal with them humanly, using the plow technique like he had with the bug manor. If only he was alone and no cameras. He’d have to settle this in the way normal people did, and continue to gently nudge the birds away. “Ok seriously though, why are all these birds following you?” He said to the Japanese man. Lucas was frustrated with him; he was the bringer of birds. If this was a creature or monster thing, this one was pretty lame.

If there was one thing Yuudai had learned during his time in LA, it was that no one liked pigeons. They were annoying and managed to crap absolutely everywhere. They were nuisances. If they contributed anything at all to the world, Yuudai had never heard of it. All in all he didn't feel terribly bad when he accidentally kicked one.
At the very least he stopped moving, trying to locate whatever had gotten under them just by watching, but it was difficult to tell as they swirled around him. "They're following me, best I can tell. They started following me the moment I got into the zoo." He mused allowed. "Probably they had someone who looked like me who fed them before." Although it was hard to tell how similar someone would have to look for pigeons to think they were similar.
He paused, staring down at the mess, before realizing the best thing he could do--and he took three large steps to the side, the pigeons starting to follow them. "Hopefully they aren't big enough to knock it with them..."

Lucas cursed the feathery rats as they swarmed around. He swore under his breath as he got onto his hands and knees in the swarm of pigeon awfulness. He had seagulls in Vancouver when he was growing up, but they would go away to find someone else to mooch from. Pigeons seemed to cling forever, and when they died, they were reborn as two pigeons! The big guy shuddered as he felt something wet on his hands. ”God I hate these things."
He barely acknowledged the man as he moved aside, but the shifting swarm was a boon, as a small rectangle of plastic and metal glimmered on the pavement. “Ah!” Lucas rushed over to the device, gingerly picking it up. There wasn't any poop on it, as far as he could tell. He wiped his hands off on his jacket and slowly turned the phone over, hoping for the best.
As he rested the expensive device in his hands his heart dropped. Upon impact with the earth, the phone’s glass screen decided it would adopt a spider web motif in an attempt to mimic modern art. ”Shit. Shit shit SHIT!” Lucas yelled, turning the phone on. It worked fine, despite the cracks. ”Crap! I’m only a few months into my contract!” He stomped angrily and growled. He wasn't going to lash out, no matter how much he wanted too. His hands balled into fists as he took several breaths to steady himself. He looked over to the man surrounded by pigeons and then to the birds. They were an easy target for his rage, but he wondered how Alec would react if he mentioned he harmed an innocent creature.
Lucas shoved the phone back into his pocket and shrugged at the other man; he’d just have to take the anger out at the gym. “So, do birds often cling to you like this?” He said, trying to dispel his anger with humour.

It was bizarre. He wasn't even doing anything, and they were still swarming around him. Every so often, one decided to peck at his leg, and he gave it a swift kick to send it flying, which seemed to deter the rest from taking their chances. He'd have probably been more interested in the mechanics of the whole thing, if it hadn't explicitly meant that he was drawing attention. Drawing attention was more or less the last thing he wanted, and that was one of the reasons he'd gone away from the majority of the animals, off the beaten path and into a more isolated area of the gardens.
The man had at least managed to find his phone, and while Yuudai couldn't see it, he could guess at the phones state by the string of curses out of the man's mouth. Either completely dead, or damaged so much that it might as well be. He was starting to get the impression that the guy had some kind of anger issues, simply based on the stomp, but that probably had more to do with the fact that Yuudai himself preferred not to make such visible signs of anger.
"No, I can't say that they do. I'm not sure why they are today, either." At the least they weren't responsible for ruining the guys phone, although they certainly hadn't made his day any better. He must have looked bizarre, standing there calmly as the birds swirled around him. "I'm open to suggestions for how to get rid of them. I went inside and they simply waited for me to come out." Like they were waiting for him, like some kind of organized group.

Lucas put the cracked device back in his pocket and swore one final time. He looked back over at the pigeon-man and then down at the swarm. He grumbled and kicked one with all his might, sending the bird flying faster than nature had intended this particular bird to fly. It’s pigeon little mind was unable to comprehend the speed that it was moving at, but if it could, it would scream. Lucas bit his lip; he had forgotten that he could kick that had now. Stupid rune and its stupid metal powers.
He hopped the man didn’t notice it, or think there was anything off. The last thing he needed was to be on the opposite end of that black lady’s gun. He had seen how she handled the tree beast, she’d probably destroy him in a heartbeat.
“Maybe if we got you inside a complex or a building that linked to others we could get you out of their sights.” He grumbled as he nodded to the main building that housed the arctic and aquatic exhibits. Somewhere in the distance a pigeon hit the earth.

Yuudai was only half paying attention to the kick, but even so, it was one hell of a kick. He paused, turning to trace the trajectory of the poor punted pigeon with his eyes before turning back to the man, his eyebrows raising in a silent 'what the hell was that'. He certainly hadn't connected it to anything supernatural, but the only thing he could think of was that the guy was some kind of football star--whether american or association.
He made a quiet noise of confusion before turning back towards the larger complex, considering it. It might work. The pigeons might not be able to track him if he stayed inside, and it was certainly worth a shot. "Probably. I might try that, thanks." It wasn't clear if the poor de-phoned man was going to be heading the same way or not. Possibly he wanted to see the end of the pigeon saga. Possibly, he'd want to stay as far away from them as possible. Yuudai could see the upsides of both options, because it could be amusing to watch people deal with shit like that, assuming you weren't having to deal with it yourself.

Once more Lucas pulled the device out of his pocket and looked at the cracked screen. He pushed the power button, greeted with a silence and a lack of response. He needed a replacement. Once more he shook his head and looked to the Asain man. "Hope things go well, and you manage to get rid of the flying rats." He said with a wave, and a turn. He was walking to the nearest exit. from there he'd need to catch a bus, and head to the nearest shopping center.
He sighed and hung his head, cursing his luck. he didn't have the money to spend of a new phone, yet he had too. Maybe he'd get an iPhone? maybe.
