the number one princess in the world you should know by now how to please me, okay? Today was a day solely dedicated to fishies. Leon had seen that the Aquarium of the Pacific was nearby the hotel (not exactly, it was still twenty miles out). By brochure, of all things. And he thought it was an absolutely great idea to go there and have some fun. Of course, he was ditched again by his band members. And they claimed to be friends of his! Some friends they were, making him go alone. He found that this was becoming a common occurrence recently. The next time, he swore, he was going to drag one of them out here by the ears whether they wanted to or not. Not even to the aquarium - he wanted to just go somewhere with one of them, or preferably all of them. What was the point of this vacation if they didn't do that?
Apparently it had completely flew over his head that he was supposed to be relaxing as opposed to being exhausted by fun. But this was just a calming trip to the aquarium with fish and sharks and other sea creatures. The brochure had also boasted of a petting place and other attractions that Leon found very interesting.
Leon had actually been expecting more people here, but then he remembered that it was May, the middle of the week, and America was weird. Though looking on the brighter side of things, at least he could spend more quality time looking at the fishes and not with the crowd. He had always wanted to be under those tunnel thingys with the fishes above and the sharks swimming and everything was around him and everything was moving.
He wondered if they had any there. He honestly had just spent his time here looking at fish and getting distracted. It was already the afternoon, although he didn't exactly have any plans after this. He wanted to see some sharks, sea lions, otters! Marine animals!
Leon wasn't an expert on them. But they were pretty cool to look at, anyway.

| I’m coming undone Keep holding on When my brain's ticking like a bomb Guess the black thoughts Have come again to get me Sweet bitter words Unlike nothing I have heard Sing along, mockingbird You don't affect me That's right Deliver it to my heart Please strike Be deliberate Choke, choke again I find my demons were my friends Getting me in the end They're out to get me Since I was young I tasted sorrow on my tongue And this sweet sugar gun Does not protect me That's right Trigger between my eyes Please strike make it ------- This was her territory for the day. The sun was beating down on her as she patrolled the parking lot, looking for people who parked like dumb asses. Apparently there was an outbreak of stupidity in this particular parking lot so her company—if you could call it that. Lyn sure didn’t—had been called, and she’d gotten the assignment. She didn’t really enjoy going being out here.
Especially when the place was an aquarium.
Whatever. It was money in her pocket. And she didn’t argue when given an assignment. She didn’t really care where she worked so long as she could walk there or take the bus. Bus it had needed to be. Maybe she needed to get a bike. Meh.
Her phone timer started to beep right in the middle of writing a ticket for double-parking. It was probably really petty of her, as the truck in question was just a few inches over the yellow line, but for the love of God if you can’t park it right don’t drive it. She turned the alarm off, finished the ticket, then slapped it under the guy’s windshield wiper.
Oh what she wouldn’t give to have the owner—probably some burly lumberjack-type by the size of the truck—come strolling out and demanding to know the meaning of this. But no such luck. Lyn sighed. Lunch time. She never missed a break or a lunch.
She shoved her little notepad of tickets into her fancy little utility belt, took off her hat, and took a look around. The one thing Lynette didn’t like was being forced to spend her lunch time walking somewhere to eat. But, it looked like there was nothing else in sight except for the stupid Aquarium. She sighed and strode inside—there was bound to be at least a small restaurant or some food booths she could sit at and get out of the sun.
The person at the front made her pay for a ticket and Lyn begrudgingly handed over the cash. Most expensive lunch ever.
Lyn walked through swiftly, as if on a crash course through the aquarium, trying to see everything within a certain time, but really she was trying to avoid looking at anything. Fish. Blech. Slimy little things. Good only for eating. However, something caught her attention, floating above her in one of the tunnels cut through the big shark enclosure. Lyn turned and looked around—sharks. Sharks everywhere. Eyes slightly wide and mouth open just a tad, she walked over to the glass, leaning over the rope that kept people from pushing their faces against the glass.
One was swimming right toward it, moving at a leisurely pace. Lyn wrapped her fingers around the rope and watched it make its progress, her gaze riveted to that mouth of theirs, full of teeth. Rows and rows of teeth. She craned her neck back as it swam over the tunnel, eyes locked on those knives in its mouth. She wondered briefly if they were going to feed the sharks.
Sharks, huh? Maybe they weren’t so bad.

the number one princess in the world you should know by now how to please me, okay? Leon was a little surprised at what the aquarium offered him. And it was the pleasant sort of surprise. Currently Leon was, more or less, staring at the sharks with their wide open mouths in awe. They were so cool! Out of common courtesy he had not hopped the rope, but he wanted so badly to press his face up against the glass, so badly.
Well, he tried to preserve his courtesy. But the childish side of him just begged to want to take a more indepth closer look at the sharks. And then he gave into impulse. Well, he wouldn’t really call it impulse - more like he saw someone else hopping over the rope and decided that he was going to do it too.
At last, he was looking at the sharks up close and personal. Perhaps he was being a bit childish for his age, but wanted to press his face up against the glass and watch like that. The cool surface came in contact with his hands and cheek as he examined the sharks in all their glory. And when he had enough of that, he looked around towards the other person who had hopped the rope. Although they hadn’t exactly done as he had.
Leon looked over purposefully at her. “I wanna touch it.”

Lyn’s mouth opened ever so slightly and she stepped over the rope without checking to see if the coast was clear. When close enough, she reached out with her hand and pressed it against the cool glass. If she remembered correctly, their skin would feel like sandpaper. Maybe she’d skin the Animal Planet channel for shark documentaries one of these nights.
Or Youtube. Youtube had everything.
Someone seemed to have followed her suit. Lyn could see movement from the corner of her eye, but she didn’t glance over. Her gaze was riveted to a hammerhead that was gliding through the water in front of her. There were of course other fish in the tank, tiny little things that wouldn’t be too interesting to the big sharks, but she kept hoping one of the sharks would turn and eat them, just so she could see it just once.
The other visitor spoke to her. Lyn was not a particularly social creature, but she spoke when spoken too. She glanced over in their direction—no, his direction. It was a boy. Maybe her age. Maybe younger. Not that it mattered. “They have a section where you can touch some docile sharks somewhere around here,” she said after turning her gaze back toward. She sounded distracted as she watched a large nursing shark sweep the make-shift ocean floor.
Maybe she would head that way, too. See for herself if they really did feel like sandpaper. She had come here to sit and maybe have something to drink and eat, but this—well maybe in a few minutes.
“I want to see them feed,” she whispered, probably just barely audible enough for the other rope rebel to hear her. She could just imagine it—the sharks tearing into their pray, the water turning a sickly red-brown color, like rust, and spreading through the current, drawing more sharks. . . .

the number one princess in the world you should know by now how to please me, okay? "I can touch it?" Leon's eyes widened at the realization. He hadn't expected an answer, or an acknowledgement. But... he could actually touch sharks?! It didn't matter that it wasn't a great white or a shark that he was seeing right at this instant - it was still a shark and therefore totally a hundred percent epic. Even with the word docile in front of it (what did that mean again, he couldn't remember, something about not completely out to kill - something of the sort), he wanted to touch it.
And then he had the most brilliant idea. New friend over here seemed to know a lot about it. "Do you want to touch it with me? Touching the sharks. So cool. So cool." This was the friend he needed. The friend he wanted. He wanted to spend time with someone, so Leon wasn't adverse to meeting new people and then dragging them along with him. Actually that would probably be a lot of fun, if not more fun than his actual band mates. They were uninterested and showed that disinterest to him. At least a stranger would feign interest.
And then she mentioned something that Leon hadn't thought of, but immediately agreed to. "Me too!" It was about lunch time, or feeding time, wasn't it? He had been having so much from that it simply slipped his mind. But that would be so cool, looking at the sharks being fed. He'd be able to see their open mouths and their teeth and oh my goodness he'd see things being fed! Leon had the feeling that if she just wandered off to another area that he'd be following her. Just follow her, since see had good interested that mirrored his. "I wanna see them eat!"

His enthusiasm was childlike, unbecoming of his age. It wasn’t her place to tell him so, though. Lyn gave him a side-long glance, sizing him up. Was he really this interested in sharks? She only found them mildly fascinating. Animals were not her forte, but predators were always better. The bigger their teeth, the less obnoxious they were.
If only she could find something to be that excited about.
Why he wanted her to come with him though she wasn’t really sure. She didn’t him from Joe Blow on the street, and nor he her. It was such a strange request, and one Lyn never would have made of anyone else. She couldn’t fathom the logic behind it. What if she was some bad person who wanted to hurt him?
Well, no, that wouldn’t cross his mind. She was still in uniform after all. A lot of people sometimes mistook her for a cop. Only the stupid ones though. To be fair she was wearing a badge and a pretty official-looking blue suit.
Meh.
She shrugged. “I have to walk that way anyway,” she murmured. She turned to step back over the rope, but a worker already beat her to it and started to yell at her and the boy to get back over the rope. She lifted her hand and stepped over. Obviously he had missed the uniform. Maybe it was because she’d taken off her hat and let her green hair spill over her shoulders. In any case she was on her way over anyway.
“I can’t entertain you long. I am on my lunch break,” she said warningly as she walked toward the exhibit that let people pet the sharks. “As interesting as it would be to see the sharks feed, I am not sure we will be so lucky to see it.”

the number one princess in the world you should know by now how to please me, okay? Leon just wanted to spend time with someone, and this person seemed okay, more than okay even. She seemed to be interested in sharks - and she also seemed interesting, so this was a win-win situation. He might have been a tad overenthusiastic about this whole ordeal - it wasn't really something to get too excited over, after all. But he just couldn't help it. It was just in his nature to have fun no matter what. And petting sharks was definitely fun. For him, it sort of held that danger without really being dangerous. For him to feel amazingly epic and able to brag to his friends without any real consequence.
If that made any sense at all. Which it didn't really. No matter. He'd be able to touch sharks and that was cool itself. Things were more enjoyable when they were enjoyed with another person, stranger or not. And this was another person to enjoy something with, so why the hell not? It was a pretty good idea, at least to his eyes. "Great! It's a deal, then!"
He'd have said date - that was how the saying went, right - but he thought it were more appropriate to say deal (even if it wasn't really a deal), and his intention was not to make people seem suspicious of him, or find him creepy in any way. People probably didn't find him creepy, anyways, there was nothing really creepy about him at first glance. Just his odd obsession with hair could take him places he wouldn't imagine he'd be in.
Leon was more than satisfied with the way things turned out that he couldn't be bothered to be hurt when he was asked to come back over the rope. He was going out anyways, but he usually had that indignant sort of emotion when he was berated for doing something wrong. Even though he had no rationale against it - they were always right and that was infuriating for Leon. But afterward Leon followed this person's lead, assuming she knew more about the exhibit than he did, being a first timer that he was. "Your lunch break? You haven't eaten yet?" Well, Leon hadn't eaten yet, but he wanted to pet the sharks more. Food could wait.
"You don't think the sharks will feed? That's a shame, that would have been so cool." Speaking of feeding... "Ah, since it's your lunch break, were you going to eat somewhere? I'm getting a bit hungry too." Leon wanted to ask if she could suggest anywhere with good food, but he'd think about it later. Sharks. Touching. Touching sharks.

Did he think she was his new friend or something? Bah. It was a preposterous thought. They were merely headed in the same direction and he was much friendlier than her. Hopefully she could ditch him later.
She more expected he’d hang out with her for the hour she was on her break.
“Not yet. I was on my way. They have a picnic area here, I was led to believe. It was included with admission anyway. . . ,” she mused aloud, looking up at the fish swimming overhead as if they would have the answers to her questions. They didn’t of course. They just swam along without a single care in the world. It kind of disgusted her a little bit, but she wasn’t sure why.
As nice as it would have been to see them eat, Lyn had already lost interest. “I don’t know their feeding schedule. I don’t know how long you plan to stay here, so you may get to see it. I will have to return to work shortly so if it is not soon I will not get to see it,” she explained.
The overhead display gave way to a larger area with little open tanks. Lynette indicated towards them. “I believe these are the petting tanks,” she pointed out.
Maybe after this he’d be satisfied and leave. If not, well she’d just have to endure him for a full hour. Maybe. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. Maybe she’d be able to patrol here longer and find out he’d double parked and have to deal with that.
Heh. Maybe. | |

the number one princess in the world you should know by now how to please me, okay? She had a point, Leon would give her that. Everything she said was right, but was it really his fault if he felt just a little bit disheartened by it? The two of them, in combined efforts (mostly her logic and his dejected sigh), had no idea when the feeding would be and it was more or less likely that she'd have to go to work. Not to mention she had to eat lunch, as this was her lunch break, wasn't it? But Leon really, really really didn't want her to go. He wanted to spent time with someone, and a simple lunch break wouldn't really suffice for him.
"That sucks. Well, I hope we'll chance upon it anyways." It would actually really suck if he saw the sharks eat and she didn't. That would be really unlucky, wouldn't it be? If anything, Leon would have offered to take pictures and send them to her if not for one thing - he didn't bring him camera. And he doubted he'd be able to get any good pictures with his phone, either. But hopefully it wouldn't come to that, would it?
Well, Leon didn't really think on it much more before almost forgetting about it entirely on seeing the tanks of sharks that he could pet. He rushed there almost immediately, looking down at the sharks in the tanks with eyes full of wonder. This was cool - totally cool! This trip to the aquarium did prove to be fun and exciting (he'll show his band mates later and hopefully poach one into coming back with him), and he reached out to touch one. Oh, they kinda felt funny.
Leon looked at his companion sort of person thing. "Don't you want to touch them too?"

She’d be over them probably by the end of the day. But for now, she found something that caught her interest. Even temporarily.
“I can go home and watch videos if I must,” she said simply, glancing at the tiny little watch nestled against her wrist. Sure she had a phone she could use to check the time like most people did now a day, but she hated taking it out and putting it back and turning it on and off just wasted the battery. A watch was quicker and more convenient.
The sharks available for petting were all small. Maybe just a little bigger than the stingrays in that exhibit, but still. Lyn could see the logic behind not letting people touch a full-grown bull or great white, but it was still a little disappointing. Lyn kind of wanted to feel like she was about to lose a hand. She supposed she would just have to settle for kind of wondering if maybe it was possible she could lose a finger. Eh.
She glanced at this kid—did he tell her his name? Maybe. She couldn’t remember—and then took a breath. “I suppose.” She stepped up and rolled her sleeves up a little bit—they were short sleeves but she kind of felt like doing it anyway.
Her skin tingled at the cold water as she slipped it past the surface toward a little shark in front of her, just chilling. She gently brushed her hand against it—yup. Sandpapery. So the rumors were true. Without really thinking, she slipped her other hand in the water and slowly wedged it under the shark. When she felt it try to swim away she scooped it up, holding tight. But it thrashed until it was free and swam off.
Her breath left her in a disappointed sigh and she pulled her hands out of the water and just watched the little things for a bit, wondering what it would feel like to hold it up, feel it wiggle and thrash outside of the water, gasping for breath

the number one princess in the world you should know by now how to please me, okay? "Awesome!"
He noticed that his companion friend thing didn't have a name. Well, surely she did have a name, but Leon had no idea what it was. He had been so preoccupied with the sharks and the touching and the feeding that he had completely forgotten to introduce himself - and also forgotten to ask for her name. It was a little late for introductions now, but at least he was armed with the knowledge that the two of them both liked sharks. Although for him, sharks were kind of a distraction kind of entertainment. They were cool, but there were other things that were cooler. It was sort of like a phase, if that was how to describe it.
But still, his hand was wet or else he'd have tried to introduce himself and shake her hand. Then again, her hand was also wet from touching the sharks as well. Still, shaking two wet hands wasn't exactly something he'd have proposed himself, so he just kept to himself for the next thirty seconds touching the rough shark skin of the tiny shark that unfortunately was nothing like the sharks in the tank the two of them had seen. The water was freezing too, he could only keep it in the water for so long before he felt like it was going to go numb.
He needed to break the silence. "I'm Leon, by the way. I should've introduced myself earlier, sorry, uh, what's your name?" Dear god, his hand was absolutely freezing, like a block of ice. Was her hand like this, too? He should have seen this coming, really. What did he expect when he dipped his entire hand in water to touch sharks from the pacific? A nice, lukewarm and relaxing bath? No, this was a habitat for sharks, sharks that he could touch, but sharks nonetheless. He wondered if she was enjoying it.
"It's cool, isn't it?"

She was bored with it now, but her pseudo companion didn’t seem like he was quite finished with the sharks yet. Her stomach was complaining quietly about the lack of food, so she wanted a snack.
She glanced at him as he introduced himself, then turned back to the sharks. “My name is Lyn,” she responded. It wasn’t a habit for her to give out her full name, Lynette. It was even less of a habit for her to give out her first and last name. “I give out parking tickets.”
He hadn’t asked for that, but she thought she’d say it anyway.
Maybe figure out if he had a car here or not.
“It’s alright. About what I expected,” she responded, turning to find the paper towels and hand sanitizer. She wasn’t going to use the sanitizer, but she wanted her arms to at least be dry now, before the salt water dried on her arms and made her all sticky. She pulled some paper towels out of the dispenser and tossed the wet and wadded up towels into the waste basket.
Food time. “I’m going to the picnic area now. If you'd rather stay here a little longer I'd understand. If you want to tag along, I won't object,” she said, turning to him. This time she managed a smile, her expression softening a little bit. If she wanted to find out if he had a car, and then try to give him a ticket, she’d have to hang out with him a little bit longer. It was time to be more friendly and turn on the charm. Then maybe this day would get a bit more interesting.
Well, at least maybe the next forty-five minutes would get more interesting. If not, an extra half hour on her lunch wouldn’t get her in trouble.

the number one princess in the world you should know by now how to please me, okay? Lyn was her name, was it? Oh, both their names started with 'L', and that was a good thing. The mere fact that her name stared with the same letter as his was... Okay, well it was pointless but it was nice at the same time - it was like meeting a new friend or family member. Notwithstanding the amount of people out there with names starting with Ls, nor how many people he knew with names starting with Ls. It would probably be a more reasonable to be excited over someone with the same name as him.
"That's a nice job." That was a job, right? Leon himself was a little it on the side of not parking right - but he's never really gotten a ticket before for it. At least he wasn't the reckless driver of the group, that's for sure. For some reason he was a little glad he had taken the shuttle instead of driving here.
Oh, she was bored of it already? Leon couldn't help but feel a little bit dismayed about it. His hand was cold, but the sharks... Well, he was also fairly hungry. He wiped off his hands so they weren't wet (but they were still really cold so he stuck them in his pockets as an attempt to warm them up - it didn't work wonders but it would have to do for now), and followed Lyn around. "No that sounds like a great idea! Uh, are you sure you don't mind if I join you?"
She seemed to be a little bit more... amiable? Cheerful? Less... sadistic? She smiled and Leon returned that smile, happy to have made such a wonderful friend. What did people usually do in this situation? Manners, being courteous, what was the gentlemanly thing to do? "I can pay, if you want, since you're being nice and letting me come with you."

Lyn gave him a strange look, then smiled slightly. It was all forced, of course, but she’d spent enough time around people to know what emotions looked like, and right now she wanted to pretend like she was feeling some. “I suppose. I get to see a lot of the city. The only downside is the people who didn’t want a ticket. Especially when they use a meter and catch me in the act of ticketing them,” she explained.
Of course that wasn’t true. She loved those moments. They were her favorite and the major reason she hadn’t quit and moved on to a different job.
But that wasn’t a normal thing. She had to make him think she was normal.
She shrugged and turned toward the direction she was pretty sure the cafeteria thing-place was and motioned toward him. “I’m usually alone on my lunch breaks, so I don’t mind some company,” she assured him. “You seem like a pretty neat person. I thought at first you were some creeper hitting on me, but I don’t think you’re a creeper anymore.”
Maybe that would be sufficient enough reason for her change of heart and sociability.
His request made this whole meeting even better. Though Lynette personally had no notion of saving money, she did like free things like most other people. But, she had to play it cool. She waited for him to catch up and then smiled gratefully at him. “I mean you don’t have to, I have enough for lunch but if you really want to I’m not going to say no,” she responded.
A quick glance at her watch reminded her of how much time she had. Just enough. They could walk over, get a quick bite to eat, and then she would be on her way back into anonymity and her semi-boring job of giving away tickets. She could begrudge herself these few minutes of entertainment.

the number one princess in the world you should know by now how to please me, okay? He brightened up at her words. Did she really mean it? Leon was quite happy with her response. "I'm a pretty neat person? Thanks! You're really nice!" He thought she was a nice person, anyways. Then again she had complimented him, and that had a lot to do with it. She had to be a nice person if she complimented people like that. Then again, he did like to believe he made a decent impression on people, at the very least. So if he made a good impression on her, then great!
Plus, he now had a companion to eat lunch with, instead of being alone, which was even better.
Leon hated being alone, after all. He liked having attention brought on himself, he loved people paying attention to him in any way, shape, form. "Well, if you really don't want me to..." He didn't want to force it on her, after all. Some people didn't like being paid for. "Well, I'll pay for you anyways. I don't mind, it's not like I don't have the money to spare or anything." Plus, it was the least he could do. He wanted to be a nice person, after all.
Although he wasn't really sure how much money he had brought along with him. But it should be enough for two people, he just didn't need those souvenirs he had been eyeing on the beginning of the trip. Next time, maybe. So long as she didn't order something outrageously expensive he should have enough money. "What do you suppose we eat, then?" There were things to choose from. He just figured since Lyn was the one who wanted to eat (he had wanted to eat as well but it was her idea in the first place), she should chose the venue.

| I’m coming undone Keep holding on When my brain's ticking like a bomb Guess the black thoughts Have come again to get me Sweet bitter words Unlike nothing I have heard Sing along, mockingbird You don't affect me That's right Deliver it to my heart Please strike Be deliberate Choke, choke again I find my demons were my friends Getting me in the end They're out to get me Since I was young I tasted sorrow on my tongue And this sweet sugar gun Does not protect me That's right Trigger between my eyes Please strike make it ------- Lyn nodded slightly and smiled. “Well, if you’re sure then I don’t mind. Maybe if we ever see each other again I’ll get us next time,” she offered. Though, in all seriousness she would be perfectly content with never seeing him again and really had no plans to do so, either. Guy was pretty normal, if a little bit excitable. Good company for someone who enjoyed company, which Lyn did not.
Eh. Whatever happened happened.
He asked what she would like to eat, or for a suggestion, and Lyn just shrugged. “Burgers would be easiest and probably the cheapest. I don’t need any fancy dining on my lunch break. Something quick, y’know?” he pointed out. That was what she normally ate. Well, when she did eat. She had to eat sometimes, but for the most part Lyn usually skipped meals.
She hadn’t eaten a decent meal since a couple days ago—mostly just snack things to keep her from passing out—and now that she was getting one for free she could probably eat a full meal with fries and a drink. If she hadn’t met What’s-His-Face here she probably would have just eaten some fries.
“Um,” she started, grimacing slightly. Chagrined, she smiled and looked at him shyly. “I’m sorry, but what did you say your name was again? I’m terrible at remember names.”

the number one princess in the world you should know by now how to please me, okay? He nodded his head. Next time, huh? So was she implying there would be a next time?! That was great! Leon had thought it to be, more or less, just a meeting between two strangers in which they were friendly and then they parted ways, simply just that. Sure, he had wanted to be friends, but you could be friends and just meet once, right? Sure, maybe his perception of the term 'friend' was a bit odd. Leon just thought he could be friends with everyone he met. "Really? Okay, I'll take you up on that deal! Next time we meet, you can pay."
Though, maybe it'll be more or less a chance encounter again, but what are the odds of the two of them meeting again by chance? It happened once, but will the same happen twice? Well, he'd just have to wait and see then. Though, to be honest, he'd probably forget her...
"Burgers sound good!" Really good, actually. He hadn't actually noticed how hungry he was, 'til now. It was sort of past his lunch time now. Then again, who could really blame him? He had been having so much fun with the sharks and the fish, the aquarium in general. A shame that none of his companions wanted to come along with him, but Lyn seemed like a pretty nice person thus far!
"Oh, um, my name is Leon. It's okay if you forgot... or did I forget to mention it? I forgot too." Leon couldn't remember if he said his name. Surely he had, else he wouldn't have gotten Lyn's name, right? Oh well, now that she knew it was all good. "Okay but burgers, right? Want me to order?"

| I’m coming undone Keep holding on When my brain's ticking like a bomb Guess the black thoughts Have come again to get me Sweet bitter words Unlike nothing I have heard Sing along, mockingbird You don't affect me That's right Deliver it to my heart Please strike Be deliberate Choke, choke again I find my demons were my friends Getting me in the end They're out to get me Since I was young I tasted sorrow on my tongue And this sweet sugar gun Does not protect me That's right Trigger between my eyes Please strike make it ------- Lynette shook her head and gave Leon a reassuring smile. She would probably forget it again in ten minutes but that was alright, Lynette was good at talking to people without using their name. It was a gift, really. Well—a skill. A skill she had developed over years and years of not caring enough to remember names. Back in the day, she hadn’t even bothered to remember her teacher’s names. They’d all just been “Miss” or “Sir”. Or “hey you.”
But, she made it seem like she was trying. That was the polite thing to do when you were “making friends” right? “No, no. You told me—I remember you telling me, I just. . . I have a terrible memory when it comes to names. Leon, Leon, Leon—maybe now I’ll remember,” she smiled at him. So far this was going okay.
Just okay, though.
They got up to the little stand selling food and Lynette glanced over the menu real quick. It all seemed pretty basic, which was good. If they had had terrible pun names then she might have just dropped the whole ruse and burned the place down. Maybe. She would have thought about it at least. And then went home and imagined burning it down. Though, could you burn down a building full of water and fish? Probably not.
“I’ll just have a double cheeseburger, fries, and a fountain drink,” she told him. That way, he knew what to order when it got to be their turn. It was about that time of the day that you got lunch, so there were a few people waiting for their turn.

the number one princess in the world you should know by now how to please me, okay? Leon would like to be remembered. He would like to meet Lyn again, and hopefully she'd remember his name if they did meet. Then again, how many green haired ladies were there? How many famous japanese pop stars in incognito during their stay in LA were there (five give or take)? So if they did cross paths, Leon was confident he'd remember her. Maybe. Probably. What? There were a lot of people here.
"I think my name's pretty memorable. Well, probably not more so than an average name. It's certainly doesn't stick to the brain though, not unusual enough." Leon probably wasn't helping at all. "But it's okay if you don't remember my name. It's my face that counts, right?" He couldn't help himself, he laughed. It was kind of a lame joke. Though it'll be nice if she could put a name to his amazing face.
As the two of them overlooked the menu, Leon decided to just go with a regular combo meal. It should be enough to fill him, hold him over to dinner time. If not more so. He did want to watch his figure a little, but one cheeseburger wouldn't hurt too bad, right?
"Okay, I think I got it." Double cheeseburger, fries, fountain drink for the lady. Cheeseburger, fries, and drink for Leon. Easy to remember - two fries, two drinks, a double cheeseburger and a cheeseburger. At least, that was as much as he told the cashier. The wait wasn't too long, thankfully, and the meal actually didn't cost as much as he thought it would (although eating in the aquarium was a bit more expensive than just grabbing a bite at another fast food location outside). "Here you go."

| I’m coming undone Keep holding on When my brain's ticking like a bomb Guess the black thoughts Have come again to get me Sweet bitter words Unlike nothing I have heard Sing along, mockingbird You don't affect me That's right Deliver it to my heart Please strike Be deliberate Choke, choke again I find my demons were my friends Getting me in the end They're out to get me Since I was young I tasted sorrow on my tongue And this sweet sugar gun Does not protect me That's right Trigger between my eyes Please strike make it ------- She smiled warmly and giggled slightly at his little joke. That Lynette could do. If there was one thing she did, it was not forget the face of someone she had met. Names were lost and forgotten, but she would at least recognize something familiar. She might not be able to place it if they hadn’t interacted long, but this kid—Leo? Leon—she would be able to recognize and place.
“Yes, that’s true. I will definitely be able to recognize you, at least,” she assured him. She didn’t bother going into any further detail. The conversation should be ending. It was dragging on and making her want to kick a puppy.
The line moved quickly enough to satisfy Lynette’s lack of patience and Leon ordered with finesse. If one could do such a thing. The total came out to a lot cheaper than she had expected—not that she would have felt bad if it had been expensive: he had offered. Outwardly, she would have apologized and made some offers, but inwardly there would be no sympathy. It was more expensive than like a McDonald’s or a Wendy’s, but it was convenient and they didn’t have to leave the aquarium.
“Thank you,” Lynette said, smiling at him. She took her little tray of food and picked out an empty table to sit at. She excused herself to go fill her big plastic cup with plain old Sprite. Then, she made her way back to the table and sat down in front of her food. She could smell it, and her tummy rumbled in response. It knew when it needed to eat, even if Lynette ignored it.
Lynette opened up some ketchup packets for her fries and looked over at Leon. “Did you come here alone? I mean I did, but that’s because I’m on the job. You don’t seem lame and friendless,” she asked with a smile. Ugh. She’d smiled too much today.
Hopefully she would find some conflict once she went back on the job.
