05 May 2012 @ 6:00PMVALOEL O'CALLAGHENOn a Saturday evening, one would expect a college age girl such Amanda to be out doing something far more exciting than doing laundry but here she was. While she waited for her tiny washing machine to finish, Amanda was currently curled up in her living room with her latest reading material. Books were on every available counter and table - some finished, some not. No matter what, there was never a shortage of reading material available to the young woman. Should such an occasion ever arise, she had her kindle, seldom used as is was. All in all, it was quiet as usual in her tiny apartment off the UCLA campus. What immediate work was due has already been completed and she was now free to explore the fantastical world of The Call of Cthulu for what seemed to be the hundredth time since she first picked up the book. Therefore it was incredibly surprising when she heard the buzzer to her apartment sound. She hadn't ordered anything recently and even if she did any packages would most likely have been delivered hours ago or the next day. What delivery driver ever delivered things so late in the evening? And she certainly wasn't expecting any visitors today either. Amanda put her book down and got off the couch so she could answer to whoever had come calling. "Who is it?"

One night was as long as she felt that she could get away with sneaking a kitten into Marielle's house. Valoel had little faith that Mari would allow her to keep the little dear, and although it was cute, if she couldn't keep it, then she needed to find someone that could. Funny that her first pick was Amanda, Valoel really had no clue if her friend even liked cats, let alone wanted a kitten. Still with a few good placed sad eyes Val hoped that Amanda would at least be willing to hold the little dear.. who she had come to call Amaryllis, named after a type of flower of course. Once Mari had left for work and it was safe to take the kitten out Valoel sneaked into her garden grabbed the kitten and called a cab. Once at Amanda's place she rang the bell and waited for that familiar voice. Who is it?
"Hi Amanda, it's Val, I hope you don't mind me dropping by so late and without warning." Maybe she should have called ahead, but then again she knew Amanda would be here, and maybe this was a little conceded, but she knew that her friend would let her in. Still now she was feeling bad about coming over so late, maybe she could make it up to Amanda by ordering some food, food was a good trade off right? "I.. well if you are busy or anything I could go! Really no problem if you don't want me here!" There was the Val everyone knew and love the easily worried girl that always thought of others before herself. The kitten laid in her arms, sleeping, at least for the moment. A little ball of orange and white.

Val? That was a surprise, a pleasant surprise, but still a surprise nonetheless. She had not been expecting her dear friend over today and certainly not at this time of day. Had something happened? Va;'s voice certainly didn't sound distressed but it was such an odd occurrence that Val would drop by without prior notice that Amanda had to wonder what exactly was going on.
"No, of course not," Amanda said into the speaker quickly. "Don't be silly. I'm not busy at all and you are always welcomed here. Just give me a moment to unlock the door and let you in." A quick push of the button next to the speaker unlocked the entrance downstairs. Amanda trusted Val to be familiar enough with the layout of the apartment building to be able to find her way up herself. In the meantime, Amanda opened the door to her apartment so that Val could come in before moving to tidy up her books a bit. Cthulu was wonderful but Val was more important.
