Warning: Blood, Self Mutilation, Foul Language.
Hope Hospital had became her prison, the promise to come back had taken him much longer then she would have liked. Rayna had even gone so far to be tempted to just force her way out, but then they would have informed the cops, she couldn't have that happen could she? The women sighed as she took a sip from the machine brewed disaster in her hands. She had to beg for someone to get it, but after a fair about of complaining she got one of those cute friendly nurses to get her the closest thing to coffee. Sadly, this drink was not even that close. Yet she would put up with it just for a little longer, doing her best to take a sip every few minutes as she watched the wall clock tick away. Her mind was busy with everything she knew so far of the past events and what she did not know. By this point she was less worried and more angry. Why she felt angry she was not sure but what bothered her the most where those doctors and nurses that would come in like they were having the best day even. Seeing this only made her mood sour, though for some reason the more upset she got the weaker she felt. Maybe everything was just finally taking its toll on her? She wasn't sure and it almost scared her, almost.
It would still take a lot more to unwind the young killer, after all she's still has worse, at least pain wise. Finally Lukas returned with a change of clothes and the full intent to get her home. Good she was ready to get out of this white wash hell. They made it quick, moving out of the hospital without a word. The hospital staff was not the trouble they were worried bout, not it was those cops that thought they could get something out of one of the victims, Rayna did not feel like sharing. Lukas had a driver waiting out side and the pair drove in silence all the way back to the coffee shop they ran together. Rayna knew why she was quiet, she was tired and annoyed, but why was Lukas so quiet? Maybe he was just trying to mirror her? or maybe he just really did not want any kind of talk that might lead to what happened a few days ago, event Rayna knew that they would have to talk about it at some point. Once they entered the apparent Rayna hung up her Jacket and headed to her room, giving a quick explanation that she was too tired to even stand. This was half true, she was tired, but she also had no clue what she wanted to talk to Lukas about just yet.
One in her bedroom she slept for a total of six hours before she woke up unsettled. There was still something that was bothering her very strongly and it was about time she dealt with it. Moving as quietly as she could the blonde women moved with ease between her room, the kitchen and the shared bathroom. On the way she grabbed a knife(a fillet knife) and some paper towels. Once in the bathroom she set up a little work station for herself in front of the mirror. She lifted her shirt to look at the problem that was bothering her to no end. That thing had touched her, and not only was the area sore, but since the embedded metal was under her ribs they caused even more pain whenever she breathed. Most of the shards looked as if some tweezers would be all she would need, but there was this once piece that she knew would be hell to pull out, she's need to cut it out.
She found the tweezers she would need in the closest draw and processed to pull the pieces out one out a time with force. Of course before she even started she drowned the tweezers and knife in rubbing alcohol. At first she had started out too slow, and the process of pulling out the small piece were agonizing at best. "Fuck it." Rayna stopped what she was doing and ignored the blood that was slowly dripping from her abdomen. There were still a few pieces left, but this slow and steady work was not getting her anywhere. Who knew that self inflicted pain was such a bitch. Rayna walked back to the kitchen, leaving a few blood spots in her haste. She searched the counters for a small wash cloth, a clean on even, she would need something to keep herself quiet. She found one in a matter of seconds and returned to the bathroom.
This time better prepared she used the cloth in her mouth to keep from screaming. Not that in did much when she started using the knife for the bigger pieces. She screamed out some muffled "Shit, Fuck, Motherfucker." Each time she forced the knife into her skin. Finally she was down to the last piece, the biggest of them all. She ripped into the skin and POP it came out, with a squirt of blood after it. This own time she had been using the paper towels to stop the bleeding, but now she needed something better, so she grabbed the nearest white towel and placed it to her wounds. Now all she needed to do was wait for the bleeding to stop and bandage herself up. "Now where the fuck are those bandages?"

For all the excitement that had happened that day, he as surprised he was unable to sleep. He'd disappeared into his room not long after Rayna had taken refuge in her own, only taking the time to inhale a bagel before he went to attempt to catch sleep, only to be met with disappointment. This was followed by several hours in a miserable, half-awake state, either spent staring at the wall or playing on his phone. His brain refused to try and figure out why he was being kept awake – because it knew why, and refused to deal with it. So, he chalked it up to too much excitement in the day and wrote it off as his body still being switched on from everything that had happened.
He was still no closer to sleep when he began to hear the noises in the bathroom. He paid no mind to it at first – on the other side of his bedroom wall was the bathroom so, anytime Rayna was in there he picked up noises. He figured she was in there to take a shower. He simply kept playing the pixelated driving game on his phone, gleefully squishing a pedestrian with the taxi he was using. He'd ran over his third pedestrian and hit his second checkpoint when he heard a muffled curse on the other side of the wall, which made him jump a little. As soon as he realized it was Rayna and not his phone making the noise, he got up.
He shoved on shorts and a t-shirt before he headed out of the room, removing his headphones and tossing his phone aside. Down the hallway, around the wall, and to the doorway of the bathroom, he leaned against the frame, his dull blue eyes giving away his fatigue from an entire night spent awake. “You know-” he started blearily, running his fingers through his unruly hair absently as he was speaking “I thought I was the only one who decorated the counter red.” Calm as you please, never mind his partner was bleeding all over. He pointed lazily to the top shelves above the mirror, unwilling to simply barge past her and get them himself...not when she had a knife, anyway. “Gauze and iodine is up there. There's some sutures, as well, but I suggest not doing that by yourself.”
All said as if there wasn't what looked like a murder scene in his bathroom. He'd seen a whole lot worse than this. He rubbed one eye, vaguely hearing his phone ringing on the other side of the wall for a split second, but honestly couldn't be bothered going to check it. It was the buttcrack of dawn, whoever it was needed to go back to damn sleep anyway. “Should have come got me to help. I've been awake.” he mentioned, the only sign he gave of caring whatsoever. He knew Rayna was a big girl, though – she liked doing things herself, so he knew not to butt in if she didn't want him to. Figured he'd better at least be polite to offer, however.

Rayna paused from her search of the bandages, Lukas voice had been enough to distract her. She never moved her hand from her stomach, she needed to keep pressure on the wounds she created herself. They were not extremely deep, well all but one, yet she felt relived with the appearance of her partner. She was not trying to hide what she was up to, she just did not want to be the reason he would be awake, though seeing his sleepy face she knew she had failed.
"Funny." Of course it would be Lukas that made a joke at such a stressful time. Rayna really was not in the mood for his games, in fact she was not in the mood for a lot of things. She followed his directions with her eyes, so that where the things were hidden. She stabbed the knife she had into the wood frame of the sink counter. Did she care that she was ruining it? Not really, like it was mentioned before, she really was not in the mood.
While she grabbed the gauze, some wraps and the sutures she spoke to Lukas in a matter of fact tone. "I was trying to be nice and not wake you up." She placed everything on the counter and leaned against it, facing Lukas she slowly moved the towel to get a better look at what she had done to herself. Thankfully the blood was already slowing down. Most of the cuts were little nothings, all they needed was some time, maybe even a band-aid.
There were only two that needed a bit more to their treatment, a little stitching and everything would be fine. She took a deep breath and looked at the items on the counter and Lukas offered his help. She pointed at the counted, "Well then perfect timing, where do you want me? The bleeding has calmed down, so we can do it here or in the living room?" The agitation could be heard in her voice, but it was easy to hear that it was not directed at Lukas, maybe herself?
Ever since leaving the hospital Rayna had been on edge, almost at that tipping point where she would need to find an outlet to her frustration some time soon. She was stressed ever since the Wright incident, everything was getting to her. She was mad with herself most of all, losing her gun, her knife, getting injured. The cuts, the broken rib, Lukas being all healthy and fine. Everything was gnawing at her, she would need a drink soon, or maybe even a good lay. Though, to be fair a job would even be a good way of getting her anger out, though how she would be able to do any sniping in her condition was beyond her.

“Against my better judgment for the upholstery, getting you on the couch may be better.” He moved past her, sidestepping the blood on the floor, opening one of the lower cabinets where several already-ruined towels ere stacked, boasting remnants of red hair dye. He grabbed them, and moved to go back into the living room. “Laying down is safer...the last thing you want is awkward stitched tht pull when you stand straight, that is a bitch I tell you what.” he added nonchalantly, heading towards said couch to start spreading the towels across the center.
He made sure to make some areas to thick, and gestured for her to lay down. “Situate yourself. I'm gonna go put on coffee...no way I'm getting sleep.” Average people would have thought him insane, hopping over the trail of blood into the kitchen to turn the coffee pot on while his partner made sounds of distress in the background. After he'd set up the morning brew to go he washed hi hands thoroughly and moved back to the couch, sitting on his knees beside it and grabbing the gauze and iodine, pouring some of the dark liquid on the cloth. “So, what, did you get the doctors that thought 'oh, well, metal in her torso, no big deal those can stay there' or somethin'? I'd think they would have removed that while-”
“Lukas!” It took every once of restraint he had while working on lack of sleep not to jump at the loud voice that came calling up the small stairway from the shop below. For a moment a put-upon expression crossed his face, mostly from being interrupted, but as soon as he turned his gaze to the top of the stairs, it was gone. There were a few moments of thuds as the owner of the voice made his way up, and a moment later the assassin was greeting his dark-haired uncle with an unimpressed expression. “Hey pops. Bit early for you to be up, yeah?” He then proceeded to ignore the other man and pushed Rayna's shirt up as high as it would go while trying to keep her decent – he didn't think she'd care if he saw anything, but Vasha, that was another story. Hilariously enough, he was pretty sure this was the first time his uncle had met his partner – lovely first impression.
Vasha didn't look amused. His eyebrows furrowed and his mouth turned downward just slightly, his gaze moving between the blonde woman and his nephew critically, seeming to size up the situation. Whatever it was his brain decided, it didn't stop him from coming down on the redhead. “I told you to go and check on her to make sure the authorities weren't harassing her while we made preparations to get her moved, not bail her out.” he lectured, frown deepening. Lukas didn't see it, however – he was too busy cleaning around the gaping wound Rayna had managed to make on herself. “I get woken up by Lipinskii bitchin' about information leaks and had to run over here before the sun is even up.”
“There's coffee being made.” he responded calmly, grabbing the reel of suture thread and began to unravel some. “Can you suffer it or do you need something to bite down on?” he asked Rayna, completely ignoring the disgruntled sound his uncle made. He had more pressing matters than family heads getting their panties in a twist.

"Fine." She stepped out of his way as the red haired man grabbed a few towels to cover the couch with. While he did that Rayna made use of herself by grabbing the items they would need and bringing them over. She placed the items on the coffee table and watched as Lukas made his way towards the kitchen. "Probably a good idea."
She looked at the couch, at least he had been smart enough to cover it up, just in case. At least Rayna knew Lukas would do just fine. They both knew enough of first-aid to make this an easy task. At least she wouldn't have to do it herself, yes she could, but it wouldn't have been the best job. She made herself comfortable on the couch and forced herself to relax. Which honestly wasn't as easy as it sounded.
Those doctors, like Rayna would have been willing to let them mess with her body. Rayna disliked anyone who wanted to cut her up or try and help her, thanks but no thats. She wanted to explain to Lukas that she had demanded then to leave the shards alone, with promises that they could get at it later. Sadly they were interrupted by the yelling of Lukas' name. Who in their right mind would be willing to bother them so early in the morning. Luckily Rayna was in a calm enough state that the yelling did not cause her to twitch.
She looked between Lukas and then the man, pops? This must be the man that raised Lukas. Rayna never had the Chance to meet the man in person, only hearing about him from time to time. She ignored the man and looked back at Lukas. "I can bare it, just get the job done so I can have some coffee."

Funny enough, despite his annoyed noise, Vasha did go to get coffee, if the sounds from the kitchen were any hint. It didn't stop him from complaining across the room, though. “And you bailed her out before she was treated to boot. Genius.” Lukas rolled his eyes but didn't look up. “I don't think she let them.” he shot in rebuttal, which, with how she'd acted, he was pretty sure as the reason, even if he hadn't gotten a proper answer when he'd asked. Plus he wanted to shut his uncle up. “You know you could help instead of just bitchin' at me. In case you haven't noticed, this is a little important.” he stated calmly, threading the suture through the needle, making sure enough of it was pulled through, before he leaned over Rayna, steadying himself as best he could against her.
Finally, Lukas could practically hear Vasha deflate, and he caved with a “Well, what exactly can I do?” The redhead snorted as he carefully pierced the skin at the bottom of the largest gash, pulling the suture through and repeating the motion on the other side, answering as he tied the first stitch. “You could be polite and introduce yourself. You're supposed to be good at first impressions, uncle, but here you are, at 6am or 5am or whatever time it is whining at me while I'm fixing someone's wounds-” he paused, made a frustrated sound when he realized he had no scissors, and bent to bite off the extra suture that was left. “Also get me scissors.”
He heard his uncle rummage around in the kitchen for the moment, and he'd managed to finish the third stitch when a pair of scissors appeared in front of his face. Lukas took them without a word and trimmed the excess suture while Vasha finally spoke to Rayna herself. “I apologize if I sounded rude. It's nice to finally actually meet you rather than hear about you in secondhand stories from my nephew. I'm Vasha Ivanoff, the little smartass' uncle.” He finished a fourth stitch during this and butted in for two seconds with “You're the one who taught me to be a smartass.” but fell quiet after that. Sad, but true – Lukas and Vasha were two of the highest quality bullshitters and smooth talkers their organization had in this half of the country, if not the best.
“I'm also sorry we couldn't get a car there before the ambulance arrived, we didn't want for you to have to go to a public hospital. The place was so swamped when we arrived, though, it was impossible to even get near. And our dear Lukas here still won't tell us shit of why it was so ridiculous.” Vasha continued, and Lukas could feel the heavy hint there. He knew it was a hint to himself and Rayna that they wanted a real explanation. Too bad. “I told you what I know. It matches what happened. Can we get past this one?” Fifth stitch done. One more and it should be held shut well enough. He finished the sixth one off, before finally up and spoke directly to Rayna for the first time in a few minutes, pointing at the second gash that was decently sized. “That one, too?”

The argument between the two men were tiring, if Rayna didn't know better should would swear that she could feel the frustration from them. The negative emotion flowed into her with ease and added to her own pile of emotions. She was marked, but did not know, and was clueless to the effects the darkness was having on her. The frustration fueled her, made her mood swing with ease. She kept this feeling to herself though, kept it within her thoughts. She felted angered that they chose to speak about her like she was in another room. She had not wanted the doctors to work on her, enough said. While her emotions flared something else happened, a weak calming wave, invisible to the naked eye, emitted from her body. It would do nothing to calm her own feelings but it might just be enough to affect those around her.
She stayed quiet, there was nothing for her to say or do while she was laying there getting fixed up. Though she did search in her mind for everything she was ever told about this man, she might be Lukas' partner, but there were still questions she had left unanswered. Though at the same time she did not want to pry into his life since that meant he could do the same to her. Not that he had to, Rayna knew damn well that he knew more about her then she liked. Still there was nothing she could do about it, being a dog for the mafia did not leave much room for keeping secrets. Well she guessed Lukas did well to shut his uncle up and get the man to help out. The sooner this got done the better, after all Rayna did not feel like laying there all day.
"Yea, nice to meet you. I'd shake your hand but I am in the middle of being sewed up like a build-a-bear." Yes she knew of those toys, saw them all the time as the mall. She really did feel that she knew how the stuffed toys felt. "Yes well, it was just an uncontrolled event. Can't really stop the ground from shaking." Same thing she told the police, the ground shook and things fell, she was even able to pull of that the reason she got hurt was due to slipping down the stairs. After all she had been wearing heels, it was a possibility. She lifted her head just enough to look at where Lukas was pointing. "Three or four stitches probably."
She laid her head back and relaxed while Lukas finished up with her. Once he was done she sat up and made herself more comfortable. She looked at Lukas and tilted her head to the kitchen. "You mind?" She didn't have to say much, but she was asking if he'd be so kind as to get her some coffee. She did not want to admit it, but her legs felt weak and standing did not look like a good idea. Why did she feel so tired? Maybe the meds she had taken earlier were doing their job, though she did not think they would make her weak.
She looked at Lukas' uncle, if he was here she had to guess that she was probably in some sort of trouble. This troubled her, not only was she in trouble, but she couldn't make it up to the family because of her injuries. A broken rib and gashes meant that she would have pain every time she breathed, there was no way she would be able to steady her sniper with the accuracy they would want. She felt rather useless now, it only added to her agitation. "If you were wondering, a broken rib, sprained wrist and a few bruises and gashes. Four weeks for a full recovery, I promise no more then four weeks." They could live without her for four weeks right?
Notes: She's not happy.

He did as she indicated, stitching up the other, smaller hole in her stomach, before swabbing the injuries with one more layer of iodine, pulling her shirt down, and standing to brush dirt off his pants. He didn't believe they were severe enough to need bandages, and to be honest the air would be better for them. Hopefully Rayna would stay on the towels for now in case they did bleed any more. He snatched up the medical supplies and when she asked him to get her a coffee, he nodded. “Just give me a minute to put this away and wash my hands.” Yeah, stitching someone up wasn't the cleanest task, that was for sure. He made it to the bathroom to rinse off his hands and put the first aid stuff away hen he heard Rayna speaking to his uncle in an attempt to cover her ass. Lukas shook his head and exhaled in amusement – Vasha was the last person she had to appeal to. Which, luckily, he pointed out to her.
“Breathe hun, I was only here to yell at my nephew, you're not in any hot water. If any of the other family heads had an issue I gave them logic already.” Lukas didn't say a word as he moved out of the bathroom and to the kitchen, pouring coffee for both of them, but he was at least grateful for the fact he knew Vasha was speaking the truth about that. He could imagine at least two of the family heads that had bitched about one of their assassins being laid up, which it was funny because he knew exactly what two, and neither liked Rayna. It was funny how they suddenly seemed to acquire a need for a sniper when they would probably be the first to vote to have her shipped back to Russia. Between Vasha and himself, though, they learned to shut up. Vasha because he was the same standing as them, and Lukas himself due to the overwhelming amount of favors they owed him.
The redhead moved away from the counter with two steaming cups, taking one over to hand to Rayna, before moving to perch on the end of the couch, sitting atop the arm rest as he sipped his own gloriously warm wake up drink. “Though, interesting enough, there may be something for you two sometimes soon. And don't worry – it shouldn't be for a couple weeks, but it seems like it would be easy enough. It shouldn't stress your injuries.” Vasha continued, eyeballing the two assassin as he spoke. Lukas paused, unsure how to answer. After a moment he managed “Two man or one man?”
“Can be done with just one so if you don't believe Rayna is up for it, you can go by yourself.” 'Sounds simple enough.' “Any reason it sounds like this is optional, because typically we don't get that.” He eyed Rayna as he spoke, unsure if a couple weeks was enough for her to be up and moving. Admittedly, she may not take no for an answer when it came to it. They'd have to see. “Because it's not the actual job yet. Lipinskii's techies have been combing the grid for the information we need but are getting nothing, and he told me to ask you if you'd be willing to take a recon job before the actual contract went through. The client won't pay for shit until we get this. You know these silly business rivals and how they like to get information on how to tear the company down.”
“Tell Kravec to call me with detail later. Or Lipinskii, but his voice makes my skin crawl.” he answered finally, before looking at Rayna. After a moment, he realized this entire time he was too distracted by his uncle to notice that his partner seemed a little...off. “Ray? You okay? Do you need painkillers or somethin'?”

She was so used to being hated by now that hearing that he was not there to yell at her, it really gave her a shock. Not that she showed much to being shocked. She kept her face calm as she looked off into the room. She honestly did not feel much like talking, in fact she wished everyone would just go away. She was not sure why she felt this way, but she was growing more agitated as the time passed. Though to be fair she did have a hell of a bad day the past few days. Everything just so happen to pick now to all pile up and bother her.
"Good." Was all she said as Lukas returned to them with the cup of coffee she asked for. She looked at the coffee which has just the right mix of sugar and cream. Nothing said relax like a good cup of coffee. She blew away the hot steam and tasted the drink. Lukas had known her only for a few years and he was already so close to making her coffee almost perfect. She was still pleased with her try, maybe if needed just a little more sugar, but it still passed.
She listened to the two men speak, something about a job, not that she really cared. If they really wanted her to work while she was hurt she would not fight it. Rayna knew she wasn't weak, she would force herself to complete any task given to her. Whether it be a 200 or 700 yard shot, if that wanted it she'd give it to them. That was just how things were, they said jump and she did so till they were happy. Now you have to understand Rayna might be a dog, but she still knew how to bite and get away with it. After all, even through all her mistakes they still needed her.
She ignored the talk about work, if she really needed to know anything Lukas could always tell her later. She let her mind wander as she just sat there and sipped at her coffee. That was until Lukas called for her attention. She stayed quiet for a moment, the question floating around in her head. She was so busy thinking about everything that happened that her reaction time was off by a lot. She finally looked up at her partner and made a face that said 'I don't know what to think right now.'
"Yea, painkillers sound good." She looked back at her coffee and sighed into it, making sure to cover the sigh as her cooling the hot drink. "I'll get it." She stood up and made a total of five steps before her legs gave out from under her. Her body hit the floor, but she did save her ribs extra damage by using her hands to cushion the fall. Her cup of coffee was not so lucky, the mug shattered on the floor near by.
Notes: Rayna is in la-la land.

One eyebrow was raised at his partner as she took her sweet time responding, and the assassin wondered if she still had drugs in her system from the hospital – he knew those could make you sluggish for a little. But then...how the hell had she had the energy to get up and have the finesse to cut out the metal in her torso without making it worse? She eventually showed signs of life, though her response was so distant that it did little to ease the concern. He supposed her getting up to get it herself was...sort of an improvement. Well, it would have been, if she hadn't collapsed halfway across the room.
The thud from her weight hitting the hardwood hadn't even reached his ears before he was off the end of the couch and setting his coffee on one of the end tables, and he saw Vasha start to move towards her, as well, but Lukas beat him to it by a long shot. Couldn't beat the fast reactions of someone trained like him, after all. He avoided the chunk of ceramics on the floor and knelt next to her, one hand moving out to settle on the blond woman's shoulder. Lips down-turned into a slight grimace, he had a moment of indecision on how to handle this, filling the space of said hesitation by speaking to her. “Okay I think that's a sign to take you back to bed.”
He was unsure how to help her up without pulling the recently added stitches, and this added to the fact that his paranoia after what happened at the hospital said he didn't want anyone touching him. There weren't a whole lot of options, though, so as carefully as he could he grabbed her wrist and pulled her arm over his shoulder, easing her off the ground as slowly as possible as so not to undo the work he just completed. He could feel Vasha watch them as he pulled Rayna back to her room, placed her in her bed, and told her to stay put while he went to get her some painkillers.
Back in the bathroom he went, moving around the blood that was still there, reaching into the medicine cabinet to look for anything they had that was extra strong – he was sure they had some leftover vicodin or percocet somewhere, which would have been enough to kill any pain she had and had a good chance to keep her ass in bed from feeling tired. While he was searching, his uncle appeared at the door to the bathroom, whistling lowly as he undoubtedly looked at the blood. “That's a lot of blood, but I don't think that's enough to make her start collapsing. What happened?”
Lukas paused in his search to end his uncle a glance, expression still somewhat grim. “It could have been from blood loss. Her body is probably exhausted from all this – the blood loss and pain may have just been the icing on the cake.” Even as he said it, he didn't believe it. This was nothing out of the norm for Rayna. From what he'd been told (in very vague stories, mind you), she'd had worse when she was in Russia. He'd never been given real details, and to be honest, he didn't care – he'd been told of her habits, what caused her to be so far on 'probation', as well as her abilities, which had included a note about a ridiculously high pain tolerance. In the years he'd known her, that had been nothing but proven, so...yeah no, he sincerely doubted it was from blood loss or shock from pain. What else it could be...he didn't know.
“Do you want me to stick around for a bit, just in case you need help?” his uncle offered, and the redhead made a sound of triumph as he found a bottle labeled with a v with just three pills left. Good enough for now – in fact a half should have been enough for her for now. “Yeah.” He sidestepped the blood on the floor and started to move back to her room, a hint of a smirk showing on his face as he turned back for two seconds to Vasha. “You can start by cleaning up the blood.”
