[style=padding-top: 173px; padding-left: 100px;]842 words. tag rayna & lucas. timestamp is april 1st. No joke, lololol. [/style][style=float: left; font-family: georgia; font-size: 70px; color: #a40909; font-style: italic; margin-right: 5px; line-height: 52px;]I t was something he would never admit, but Lukas Madeleine, one of the most unflappable agents the Russian mafia had, was completely thrown off by what had happened at the law offices not even a two days ago. This was displayed by the fact that the entire rest of the day the disaster had happened was spent in a local bar, and the whole of the next day (after the hangover was gone) was spent vegetating on the couch in the apartment normally shared by him an Rayna. In general, it hadn't been a pretty sight, and he was glad he was the only one to experience it - witnesses would have been an awful thing.
The day after all this, however, he seemed perfectly back to normal. Well, he seemed normal - he still felt pretty damn out of whack. Despite numerous attempts from his uncle, he refused to speak about what had happened there, besides very vague details and a persisting point of 'Look, the problem's fixed, right? Incident over'. Even when he was called to speak with Kravec, his uncle, and two of the other family heads (only one had been missing, and that was due to a business trip she was on at the time), they couldn't get anything else out of him. In the end, they gave up - and while pressing the point of being disappointed that there had been enough evidence left behind for the authorities to assume it was a war between gangs, they made no mention of punishment. Sometimes, he was glad they liked him so much.
This visit was concluded by his uncle Vasha handing Lukas a small vase of flowers, telling him they were fro Rayna - who was still, unfortunately, being held in a public hospital. His uncle told him Kravec was working for contacts to get her pulled out - or how it would say on paper, 'transferred' - but it was proving slightly difficult. That hospital really didn't want to give Rayna up. Vasha suggested going to visit her, if only to make sure she wasn't going stir crazy and about to smother a nurse with her pillow, anyway. Lukas didn't have to be told twice - he'd planned on checking on her regardless. He still felt it was partly his own fault she was in there anyway. Flowers, however, weren't…exactly the gift he would have picked to bring.
Which was why on the way to said hospital, he stopped by their coffee shop, made a java chip frappuccino to take with him, and in the car on the way over, scribbled a note to attach to the cup. Toting the flowers and the coffee in with him, he made his way into the emergency room entrance, figuring that was his best bet - she'd only been there two days, they wouldn't have assigned her any type of real, nice room. As soon as he walked through the sliding doors, his expression switched to anxious, and he pretending to fidget and be in a rush to speak to someone. It worked like a charm.
The next five minutes consisted of blathering dialogues all along the same line. "I'm just looking for my sister, please - I was on a business trip with my father, he sent these flowers for her, see? I need to see her I need to make sure she's okay-" "Calm down sir, it'll be okay. Now, what is your sister's name?" "Rayna. Rayna Klein." Obviously, a fake last name - and keeping Rayna was just in case someone heard him call her that. "Hmm yes she's one of those brought in from the Wright Office incident, right?" "Yes. I tried to get home as fast as I could - I got the first flight home - I" "It's okay sir. What's your name?" "Lukas Klein, miss. I'm her older brother." He decided to follow the same trend of names. "Alright then give me just a few minutes sir…"
This went on for a bit, accompanied by the nurse asking to see his identification - which he'd 'misplaced', of course, and pretending to have a small panic attack over not having it - though finally, she sent an intercom through to the room where Rayna was, asking if she'd like to see her brother. The obvious answer was a yes, and Lukas fought hard to suppress a smug look he wanted to give the nurse as she led him down the pristine white corridors of the emergency wing. He thanked the nurse profusely as she opened the door to the room where his fellow assassin was kept, and he made sure the door was completely shut behind him before he turned. Before he could even utter a word, however, he came to the horrible realization she was not alone in here.
'Oh great. Time for the walking on eggshells game.' "You have some well-wishers, Ray." He lifted his goodies while he eyed the blonde woman on the bed, a hint of a smirk on his lips. [/style]

The hospital was one place Rayna never liked to end up. The white walls, the sound of sick people and the never ending waits were trying on her thin patience. Two days, she was already suffering after only two days. First the X-rays then the test, she was getting sick and tired of all the doctor talk. Yes yes, rib broken, honestly she could have guessed that without having a doctor point it out. Admittedly she was happy with the pain meds they liked to stab into her. The wrap on her right wrist helped her figure that the bruise on it was not just for show. She was told over and over that nothing was broken, but both the skin and bone was bruised. Wait, how did you bruise bone? Rayna really did not care to ask, all she needed to know was that it hurt.
Without counting the metal shards that she had forced doctors to leave alone, her stomach was fine. No bleeding, no burns, the doctors were baffled on how metal could weld to the skin so easily. They wanted to run test, she said no. They wanted to operate, she once again said no. There was no way in hell that she was going to allow their knives on her body. She would do it herself later, in her own room, with her own blades. Painful or not she was not letting anyone else try and fix her up. Two days and she had already lost the nice blonde girl act. Two days and she started to wonder where he was. She had text him all the info he would have needed to find her.
Two days... Two long days and she was ready to lose it. The food sucked, the T.V. was being shared and she had flipped out on a nurse at least twice in German. She was tired, moody and needed a coffee bad. That was it, that was where all this mood swings were coming from, her lack of coffee. That was when Rayna decided, if he did not come by today she was sneaking out and getting a cup of coffee. Speak of the devil, when the room phone rung Rayna rolled over and picked it up, expecting to be told that she had more test to do. Yet when she was asked if she would like to see her brother a smile was followed by a calm yes. Finally, after such a long wait he was finally here to get her out of this place.
She lifted her eye brow as she saw the flowers. "Oh really? From dad and the family I'm guessing?" She moved slowly and she adjusted herself to sit up better on her bed. She eyed the coffee and held her uninjured hand out to him. "Mine yes?" She said it with a question, but her eyes yelled for him to give it to her. "The doctors then I might have some internal injuries other then just a broken rib, so yea I'm trapped her." She grabbed the coffee from him as soon as the guy was close enough. She noticed the note, but did not read it till after she took a nice long sip.
Yes, coffee, that was what she needed. Rayna read the note as she talked openly into the room. "Lu, by the way the food sucks, but at least I had Lucas over there to entertain me." Yes, in all of two days Rayna had been bored enough to ask her roommate his name... and that was about it.

Since the incident at the law offices, Lucas hadn't felt right. There was a knot in his stomach, and he just couldn't get rid of it. Although a good dose of pain killers eased anything, especially when they gave hm a few pills for anxiety. “Don't worry, anxiety is common after a traumatic experience.” the doctors said, but they weren't there. They didn't know what happened. They hadn't seen the metal spread, or the earth rise up in defence. When he asked he simply told theme is was... horrible. He had no idea what was happening. He thought he heard an explosion, but there was so much screaming he couldn't tell. Something told him no one would believe the truth. He also guessed people would believe his lie, being the brawn over brain type had it's occasional advantage. He'd rather be labelled stupid then insane.
Rayna had been a nice roommate so far, quiet kept to herself, and didn;t really want to talk about the incident either. It gave Lucas time to think. He spent hours in a gym... yet that thing was about to do so much damage to him with one punch. He tried to make sense of it all, but the more he though, the more an uncomfortable truth lied on the horizon. He didn't want to even think that. He had been raised on this, it was what he knew. It was what he knew he had to be and he wasn't going to change that!
His thoughts were interrupted by the phone ringing. Rayna picked it up and smiled, saying a calm “yes”. Well she had been saying no so often, it was almost refreshing to hear that. “So, finally giving into the doctor's request?” he chuckled. Within a few moments, the door had opened. It was... that guy! So he knew Rayna. Well obviously considering the flowers and the coffee. Lucas felt a sting of envy, wasn't anyone coming to see him. He nodded politely when he as mentioned, picking his tablet up from the desk, he was surprised they had managed to get it back to him, and it wasn't broken. He was going to have to name it something... like tank-pad... no that was stupid.
He sighed at the open screen, his bank account. He needed rent, food, bus fair, gym memberships, the entry fee for the next competition, which was a month away! If it wasn’t for the hospital bill. He'd make it until then, he was fairly confident. Crap he needed a part time job and fast. Oh! Right he forgot to fact in the hospital bill. This wasn't Canada anymore, no lovely health program he was paying into to cover these emergencies. That was going to take some getting used to. “Anyone know a place that's hiring...” he said to no one in particular, he might have even been talking to himself.

[style=padding-top: 173px; padding-left: 100px;]589 words. tag rayna & lucas. this is such a dull post. He'd wanted so bad to show Rayna the fact that almost all the family heads had signed it - which was mostly bullshit, they couldn't care less, but as soon as Vasha had moved to make a good gesture(which, funny enough, he'd never even met Rayna - he simply knew she was Lukas' partner, and had heard a lot of her from his surrogate son), they had swooped in on him and stole some of the glory. He couldn't really, however, with someone here. He didn't even get a chance to hand her the coffee once he got near, though, as she just swiped it from him. He resisted an urge to make a joke about her only wanting him for his delicious fluids, but resisted - instead, he just shook his head at her, and stretched his arm out to set the flowers on the table.
"Oh I'm sure it won't be that long. You're tough as nails." he responded to her, which was, unfortunately, true - he knew the reason they likely wanted to keep was because she was being a pain in the ass and not cooperating with them. Not that Lukas faulted her for that - generally, resistance to pressure being placed on your was a good trait in their line of work. He moved so that he was stood beside her bed and strategically blocking a view of her to the other bed - turning slightly in place so the his back faced Rayna, before carefully seating himself on the side of her bed.
As he did Rayna spoke of her little roommate, and the assassin felt his eyebrows raise slightly as she did. 'He has the same name as me? Seriously? Hello, irony.' He was actually a little bit genuinely amused. Mostly because the guy was practically the complete opposite him…mind you he only had a few hectic minutes to judge on, none of which he felt like recalling because one hangover was enough to nurse in a week. He made no comment on this little revelation, however, simply nodded to the other Lucas in greeting when his partner mentioned him. He heard the comment about a job, and somewhere in his head a voice said 'Ah the advantages of being invisible in databases everywhere - you can just bail out of a hospital without paying. How the hell will they find you to bill you? Send it to your fake address? Ha!'
"We're in a city Slim, there's plenty of places. Pick up a newspaper is what I suggest." He actually wanted to ask as a general question if either of them had actually read the papers recently when he mentioned it - he wondered in Rayna had seen what they said about the other day - but he couldn't bring himself to even brush near the subject of what happened at Wright Law Offices. He felt as if his stomach soured slightly at the very thought. He pursed his lips for a moment, and for a split second his confident mask dropped into one of disquiet - but was immediately pulled back up, as if nothing ever happened. "Mind you, ninety percent of it won't be glamorous." he added in comment about the jobs, more or less making idle chatter in hopes the other man would focus on him rather than Rayna, so they didn't end up with a comment about the note when she read it. Better safe than sorry. [/style]

Rayna had been entertained by the fact that she now knew two people with the same name. It wasn't an uncommon factor, but still entertaining nonetheless. She stayed pretty quiet as she just mulled over finally having something good to drink. The note was nice, but it did not calm her unrest about being stuck in the hospital. They had wanted blood from her, she said no, they wanted to run test, more no's. The most she even allowed those doctors to do was a few x-rays and a examination, where she some how ended up half naked for one doctor. If she have had a problem with showing her body that perv of a doctor might have gotten his neck slit. Speaking of violence, she had this overwhelming want to shoot a few rounds into a fair number of doctors and nurses. Of course unless she was told to there really was no reason in doing such a thing. Yet the idea was still entertaining and had her feeling better after they rattled her up.
Rayna was in no way about to offer Lucas a place at their cafe, the guy was nice and all, but she didn't think Lukas would be happy with the idea. It was bad enough meeting someone once, but if they saw that you could fight things like that could raise some questions. She leaned over to the nightstand near her bed and pulled the newspaper that she had been reading earlier that morning. Yes she knew what the paper said about the incident, but she wasn't about to point it out till she got a chance to talk to Lukas alone. She flipped the pages a few times before she found the ads for jobs. She took a deep breath and got out of her bed, it was about time she got up on her feet anyways. She walked around her bed and over to where Lucas was relaxing. "here." She dropped the newspaper on his lap. "If your lucky you should be able to find something in there."
She stretched, almost forgetting how good it felt to move around. Sure she was in pain, but her body was trained for this, so it really did not hurt as much as it should have. She distracted herself with the flowers Lukas had placed near her bed. She grabbed the card on it and frowned at the names. Like any of them would care enough to send her a get well card and some flowers. Was this Lukas's idea? Maybe his uncle's? She didn't know or cared. The card was placed on the table and forgotten and she picked up her coffee. It really did hit the spot, she had been feeling crappy all day, but this really did help. She couldn't help but be distracted by the black spot on the palm of her free had. Wasn't that odd? Though really not as odd as the rest of the pass three days had been.

Lucas leaned back in the bed and shrugged. "Not really looking for the glamour, just the pay. Competition money disappears quickly, I find. Though rent here is much cheaper then back home." He was actually shocked at that to be honest. Vancouver had been quite the pricey place; he wondered how people even managed to live there when they were low income. Well technically he was low income. When he won, he made quite the bit of cash. When he didn't… well it was Mr. Noodles forever at this rate. He hated job hunting. He always felt people were looking for cute girls, or metrosexual guys.
Lucas frowned quietly to himself as Rayna stood up and passed his the paper. Well, if this was the only way. He was frowning not because he had to job hunt, but because there was an elephant in the room; the incident. None of them had mentioned it yet, and it was starting to make Lucas very nervous. They couldn't just brush off what happened, and pretend it never was. For god's sake a child died! Lucas fiddled with the paper and dove into the pages. He knew he'd be getting that bill soon.
His wounds had healed enough for the doctors to be happy with discharging him, considering it was only a few broken ribs and some rather nasty bruising. Pain medication, a light workout load and a prescription for anxiety pills. Fun times for the whole family, right there. Lucas sighed and rubbed his side. He had gone along with the tests and the xRays, having been subjected to them before. It was always the blood work that worried him. The doctors always assumed he was taking steroids, and would question him over a thousand times, trying different variations of the same thing to coax him into talking or admitting to taking drugs. He knew what he was taking, and I was whey powder, protein, and other vitamins, as natural as he could get. Lab stuff was for the amateurs. Speaking of which, he hadn't had any in a few days. At least the hospital crap was nutritious.
"Thanks. Hopefully I can find something soon. I miss the healthcare system from home, let me tell you." He chuckled, perusing the ads. Huh… Fork lift operator. He wasn't qualified. Dog walker? Nah, didn’t like dogs. Secretary… oh fuck no. "This is going to take a while"

[/style][style=float: left; font-family: georgia; font-size: 70px; color: #a40909; font-style: italic; margin-right: 5px; line-height: 52px;]B eing unable to say the things he wanted to Rayna - to ask her what kind of questions she was being harassed with every other day by the authorities being a good example - was irritating. This was a whole lot easier with someone like his Uncle Vasha, who spoke the same language as him - bullshit mixed with subtlety. He couldn't just give Rayna a look and her understand what he was asking of her…though, it wasn't for lack of trying. He'd only had about a half a year worth of work put in, though. Sigh.
Unbeknownst to him he actually sighed, which he had been very careful so far to breathe through his nose and exhale as little as possible when speaking. Lets just say it wasn't easy. This was all brilliantly undone in one moment of relaxation as a lovely and incredibly obvious puff of steam followed the trail of air he'd breathed out - as if the room had been plunged into below freezing temperatures. But nothing had changed. Nothing at all. Save, of course, for Lukas, but he liked to tell himself everything was perfectly fine, and nothing was wrong with him at all.
In a moment he wasn't terribly proud of due to the sheer lack of subtlety, he lifted one hand to cover his mouth for a second, a short flash of alarm showing in his eyes as he did. It was gone as soon as it came, however, and he immediately dropped his hand to plant it firmly on the side of the bed, obviously attempting to pretend that didn't just happen, and that he didn't want to mention it. "Rayna." he said abruptly, attempting to defect. Very. Quickly. He'd gone back to very carefully monitoring how much air he exhaled. "You haven't had any trouble, have you? I heard there was a lot of commotion in this hospital."
He looked at her over the rim of his sunglasses, trying to see if she'd get the real question there. Have you been questioned by authorities? It wasn't actually a concern of her giving any information away - he knew she was never so sloppy or unreliable, even if she was pumped full of morphine - he just wanted to know if they were snooping around. Plus, He needed something - anything. Deflection. 'Please. Don't say anything.' his mind begged. He couldn't handle it. Not now. A normal person would have probably opted to tell her not to get out of bed, but Lukas knew that was absolutely pointless - so he'd went for making a stab at the question he wanted to ask instead…admittedly it could have been subtler, but his mentality wasn't entirely focused on that at the moment. Pretending or not, Rayna would not be the one to mention what happened in the Wright Office. She still needed time, time to make sense of it all. She had missed the fireworks in the lobby, but even would out seeing earth or fire shoot out from the ground, she still had many questions. She wanted to work on figuring everything out, but until she could leave there was no way she could do any research from here.
Rayna was so lost in her thoughts that she had missed the puff of fog that shot from Lukas's mouth, otherwise she would have made an interesting comment. No instead she was bought back into the conversation when her name was called. She looked up from her coffee and stared at Lukas. She had made her way from the side of the bed to leaning on the wall. For being injured she wanted nothing more then to keep moving. Sitting around and doing nothing was starting to get to her.
Any trouble? How about getting poked a few times and asked the same question over and over about six times. Rayna wanted to complain, but she decided ageist it and shrugged. "Well.." She dragged the word out for a moment before continuing. "Well for the pass two days I have been dealing with useless doctors and police officers who I am convinced want me to tell them something. All I can say is that I have no clue what really happened. I just blamed the earthquake I swore I felt at the time."
Should she make a comment about the slow time, or the metal people? No, she still did not want to touch that subject right now. Instead she opt to toss a question at the other Lucas in the room. "So how long are they holding you? Last I heard it was just a few bruising and what not?" She then added to Lukas. "Speaking of leaving, when you have go, make sure to bug a doctor for me. I can heal my broken self at home."

Lucas shuffled the newspaper, moving through the rest of it, anxious to see if he'd find news about the... event. He frowned as he scanned the major headlines, most of them unimportant to him and probably to the other two. They were things like: “BP Announces Stronger Pipelines, New Power Generator Fits into Kia Soranto, CERN Unveils First True Intelligent Computer.” Boring things like that. Her set the paper down and looked at the other two. “Huh? Oh i'm probably going to be leaving today, pick up my prescription and hit the gym, as much as I-” he stopped, seeing something strange floating in the air, near Lukas. It dissipated quickly, but he was sure he saw it.
Lucas blinked a few times to make sure he wasn't crazy and seeing things. “Uhh.... Did you just... Smoke... from your face?” Lucas said, having forgot the word mouth for a moment. He stared at the other Lukas, expecting wing to pop from his back. Fuck first metal people then this! “Jesus, you're not like those freak at the lobby, are you!?” He said moving away, but stopped by the bed frame. He stared at it, loathing it's existence.
He looked back to Rayna and Lukas, like a wounded coyote. Well, Lukas mostly. “Ok. Someone explain what's going on. Cause right now, I'm pretty sure your 'friend' is one of them!” he spat at Rayna, leaping behind the bed, and quickly regretting that as his bruises opted to remind him of their continued existence. He went down to the floor and laid there, trying to fight through the pain.

[style=padding-top: 173px; padding-left: 100px;]495 words. tag rayna & lucas. Pick an emotion Lukas I feel bipolar now. [/style][style=float: left; font-family: georgia; font-size: 70px; color: #a40909; font-style: italic; margin-right: 5px; line-height: 52px;]L ukas had seen people scared of him before, though it had been few and far between - being an infiltration agent meant he never was allowed to reveal himself to others, and generally his targets died so quickly they didn't get a chance to be scared. There had been a few times, though, and he knew the look. As soon as the other man stopped mid-sentence and looked towards the assassin, the expression that started to spread said a lot. Lukas brain summed up his whole thought on the situation pretty nicely as soon as Slim started to speak: 'Well, shit.' He watched, attempting to look impassive, as the other began to panic. Needless to say, he was trying very hard not to exhale very much even as he spoke now.
"I think you've had to much morphine there Slim." he brushed off easily, but his eyes belied his nervousness. He tried to maintain his careless smirk, but even he could feel it was off. And he hated it, knowing he didn't have control even over himself at the moment. There was the consolation of being amused of the fact the other man was scared of him, though - oh, if only he knew. He wished he could say 'if I wanted you dead, trust me, you would be' sometimes, honestly. The public frowned upon pride in such a field of expertise, however. Silly morals.
"Flailing around doesn't typically help someone heal." he noted after a few moments while the other Lucas tried desperately to get as far away from him as he could. He was very pointedly ignoring the subject of the conversation still, because unless Rayna questioned him, he couldn't be bothered pretending to care. And even then, he'd have a logical answer. People able to sprout enhancements from their bodies? Obviously government experiments…or less legal experiments but nonetheless that fit the bill. Or he could be a sarcastic ass and suggest they fell into a vat of toxic waste. Either way you weren't going to get shit out of him.
Nevertheless, the fact someone had decided to take notice of his little…er…issue did nothing to put him at ease. He was starting to regret coming. He fiddled with the frame of his sunglasses for a second, pushing them up farther on his face in a strategic attempt to hide his eyes, knowing they would give away how uncomfortable he was now. His body language hadn't changed, he still seemed relaxed, but that’s how he was - he was conditioned to let nothing effect him, and everything about him screamed relaxed. But he, of all people, knew how much his eyes could say, and was grateful for the shield on them at the moment.
"I can try and get a hold of pops and see if he can get you released from here Rayna, but I can't promise anything." he attempted to go back to the other subject, knowing the likelihood of it working was slim to none. Can't blame a guy for trying. [/style]

She listen to the buffer Lucas as he answered her question, yet midway he got distracted by something. Why she wasn't so sure of. She had been too distracted by her own thoughts to play attention to anything that was going on in the room. A mistake that would have cost her life anywhere else. The panic in Lucas' voice caught her attention and she stepped over to stand between the two men, just in case she had to play mediator. Broken bones or not she was still a force to be reckoned with. Moving over had been the trick though, she spotted it, that moment of weakness. Could that man be right? Was something wrong with Lukas? She couldn't, or for a better term, wouldn't allow him to become one of those things. Yet in the back of her mind she remembered how that monster had said something about her own body rejecting the 'gift'. So that had to mean that everyone else that was involved were immune as well, right?
She placed a hand on Lukas' shoulder, she would not question him, not yet. This was not the time or place to do it, but she needed to let him know that she was on his side. Speaking with body language was something the pair had mastered back in New York, she knew he would understand. She looked over at the bed where the big man had been laying only moments ago, she could hear him grown in pain. "He's right, calm down before you hurt yourself anymore." She forced concern in her voice, she needed to make it sound as if she was not picking sides. She gripped Lukas' shoulder when he spoke of getting her out. She would not leave it up to the family to get things moving, the cops had nothing and that was that. This was America, the doctors had no right to keep her any longer. She would wait only long enough for Lukas to get her some clothes and that was it.
She leaned in and whispered into lukas' ear, "Go home, get me some new clothes and come back. I want out." Her emotions were running wild, she couldn't hold her temper for long. If she didn't leave by tonight she would surely hurt on of those useless nurses. As if the thought had summoning powers a knock was heard at the door and a women walked in. Rayna sighed, if was one of the really insistent ones. Rayna really did not like this one at all.
The women stood there with a tray in her hands, a few pain pills and two cups of water. She pushed the door closed with her foot and walked over to stand close to Lucas' bed. "Ms. Klein here is your next dose." She passed the pills and cup to Rayna, who took them would out saying a word. "And Mr. O'Connor here are your- Mr. O'Connor are you ok? Do I need to call a doctor?" Panic could be heard in the woman's voice, what was the man doing on the floor?

Lucas groaned gently from his new vantage point. Shoes were a rather nice thing, he had to admit, but he really didnt want that to be all he could see. ”Yeah... yeah. Stay fucking calm when you're read headed friend is some kind of fire breathing dragon in disguise. Carefully, so as not to injure himself worse, he slowly tried to get back onto his feet, but low and behold, his body was content with the floor for now. Lucas let out a gasp of pain as his bruised ribs brushed his bicep. Crap... why'd I have to do so many curls... he thought to himself, wishing he was scrawny for once. Maybe then he could easily get off the floor. He could tell rayna had some concern for him, so he let himself lie back down, un able to see anything but feet.
The big guy lied there, gritting his teeth against the pain as he slowly rolled himself onto his back. When the nurse came this was going to be a fun thing to explain. Oh! Hello nurse. I've just been bored with being a patient and opted to give being a stranded turtle a try. My friend over there with the same name and hair colour as me is pretending to be a dragon, his impression is much better. The anxious knot in his stomach tightened for a moment. He really wanted to get out of here. And he'd definately be taking it slow at the gym tomorow.
He turned his head towards the door as he heard it open, recognizing the mandatory footwear all nurses had to wear. Well... here we go then. She heard the step get closer and closer until... ”Uhh, i'm not really sure if i'm ok. The ribs hurt like a bitch and all. Please call the doctor though... not for me.” He slowly got up onto his arms, sitting like you would at the beach, facing away from the nurse as he slowly pulled hil legs close, grabbing the bed for support. He carrfully pointed at Lukas, however. ”I think that gentleman there... He needs a doctor more then i do right now, nurse. Please trust me. Lucas didn't give a shit if the guy was Rayna's friend just yet, nor was he going to say he was breathing smoke. They'd think he was really insane then. Let them make the discovery, and maybe they could fix the guy before he mutated further. He continued his slow rise to his feet, grateful the bed was so close.

[style=padding-top: 173px; padding-left: 100px;]889 words. tag rayna & lucas. LUKAS SAYS BYE BITCHES. NO TESTS FOR HIM. [/style][style=float: left; font-family: georgia; font-size: 70px; color: #a40909; font-style: italic; margin-right: 5px; line-height: 52px;]H e was intensely grateful for the silence his partner kept on the trivial subject at the moment. The hand on his shoulder gave him at least a little solace, and he had to commend her for the strategic move - he'd like to take claim on her ability to deflect confrontation like that, to be honest, but Lukas, being Lukas, didn't need the reminder not to do anything in public. It was nice to know she had the level head to know to not only block the aggravated party but use something to hold them in place. It was ironic this was the same woman who always asked if she could shoot the target five minutes after waiting to get to them.
His eyebrows knitted together as Rayna demanded he go and get her something so she could leave. He knew he'd get in trouble for this later - there were a lot of complications that could arise from sneaking her out - but he supposed it was safer than her climbing out of a window. He nodded at her silently as she pulled away, his eyes temporarily reflecting the gravity of the situation, but made no indication of his concern out of pulling her out early otherwise.
The moment was luckily interrupted by a nurse entering, and the assassin's expression became immediately more at ease, as if absolutely nothing had happened. He regarded the short exchange with a level of boredom for a moment, at first having an intention of asking the nurse about visiting hours casually…at least before the idiot in the room decided to turn the big spotlight on him. There was half a second where he froze in place completely as the nurse turned her questioning gaze on him, and he immediately feigned an unconcerned smile towards in response.
"He's a little delusional miss, I think someone may have giving him a few too extra painkillers. If I needed to be in the bed, trust me, I would be. I'm a whiner." Total lie - the bullet scars on his leg and shoulder were a testament to that. But he had to try. But these were extremely tenacious hospital staff - and he couldn't deny the flare of panic he felt in the pit of his stomach as the nurse simply walked towards him and stretched out a hand to feel his face. For the first time he actually visibly tensed as he though 'keep the hell away from me' - an action he cursed himself for half a second later when he realized how much it incriminated him.
Why had he done that, he'd just…for a split second he'd lost his cool. It was back in place as soon as he realized what he'd done, however. Well. For a moment, at least until the nurse retracted her hand as if scalded by his skin. This time, he had a genuinely confused expression - which was answered a moment later when the woman exclaimed "You need medical attention immediately - you - I've never felt a fever like that before. You stay right there you hear me young man? I'll be right back with a doctor - how are you even standing, we need to get you on ice! I - don't move, in fact you should lie down-" and she was out the door, just like that.
'…Shit!' Immediately, he was off the bed, and moving towards the door. He had to leave, and fast. How did he have a fever, he felt fine - he didn't understand. He lifted his hand to feel his face, but was left only further confused as to him he felt…fine? No, no time to think about it, she was coming back, he had to leave, now. "That's my cue to bail, I'll be back in a while Ray" he said quickly, making for the door before a doctor could come back and put him under a microscope. When he reached the door, however, he paused, turning his head to look at the other Lucas for a moment.
"Hey, you." he said, and for a moment his eyes belied his annoyance at the other man, his gaze narrowed and defensive. "Learn some tact. You're lucky I'm not turning into something that wants to kill you." He debated using the phrase 'can kill you', but he wanted to leave that open ended for the other redhead to figure out. Normally he disliked taking a self-protective stance so openly, but his feelings towards the idiot were less than amiable at this moment. Not only did the tool flail about and accuse him of being a monster but he tattled like a spoiled little five year old brat. Little shit probably was trying to get him locked away and experiment on in some hellhole…or wishing that was what would happen, anyway. So no, he wasn't going to be polite.
Then, he was gone, back down the stark hallways before the nurse could return with someone to inspect him. He'd have to bide his time a little, but he'd return within the next two hours for Rayna - for as much as she wanted to get out, he never wanted to go back there, and busting her out was sounding a lot more appealing. The less return visits with flowers, the better. [/style]

Why her? Really, Rayna didn't know what it was about her that gave her life so much trouble but she really needed a good day off. At this point coffee was just not enough, she needed coffee with a sting of something strong. Yes, that would be her next step, get home and get drunk, that sounded like one great idea. Could she get away with it? Maybe, it mattered on what Lukas had to say, maybe he would join her? That did not sound like such a bad idea, a good drink till she was drunk and then maybe some bedroom fun. Heh, she knew Lukas was a bit of a stick in the mud, but get a few drinks in him and the guy could be loads of fun. Something told her that she wouldn't be so lucky, that something being the problem they were all dealing with now. Now that the nurse was in the room the group had to be even more careful, after all talking about mutants would only keep them there for longer. Sorry, she loved the chit-chat and all, but getting out of this place was on the top of her list, no room for questioning her sanity. Which to be fair she was far from worrying about it for the moment, everything was still fresh in her mind, but she was sure of one thing, it was all real.
To be fair Rayna was sure this O'Conner guy was a complete idiot. After all, who ratted out the other person in the room that just might understand your feeling on how confusing everything felt. At least Rayna was convinced that Lukas, no, everything that lived, were all safe from turning into any monsters. While the two boys played with the nurse Rayna paid no mind to them. She had her own thoughts to deal with, like what had really happened and if they should leave it alone or look into it a bit more. Rayna really wanted to leave things alone, but something nagged at her, yelled at her that she needed to find out more. Maybe it was her determination talking, Rayna had no clue what it was, but she did know that the real challenge would be to get anything out of the LL's. Neither one seemed like they wanted to talk about what happened openly, though she felt Lucas would be easier to work on.
"Yea you better." She mentioned offhandedly as Lukas pretty much ran out of the room. Rayna was not in the mood to care about what happened, if she felt up to it she might ask him later on. She took to taking her place back on her bed. The excitement in the room was dying down and all the women felt like doing was relax.. why did she feel so weak? Not just weak, but slightly agitated, not enough to show it openly though. "Don't worry about him, he'll be fine and you will too." She didn't get much more in before that nurse from before ran back in with a doctor and another nurse following her. "Where did he go?" The women asked, Rayna just smiled and shrugged her shoulders. The nursed turned quickly on her heels and closed the door behind her. Rayna shook her head and looked over at her roommate. "So to put is simple, do I want to know what happen in the building while... I was away on the Elevator?" That last word she hissed out. It was plain to see that something had happened while she had been away from the group, but she wanted to know what this guy was willing to say first.

Lucas watched as the other red haired Lukas fled from the room as the nurse fled to get a doctor. He seemed pissed, but what were the chances Lucas would ever meet him again. He looked back at Rayna as she shrugged the nurses and doctors away. Lucas slowly got back up onto his feet, trying to avoid causing himself any pain. He hissed as his sides ached angrily with his every motion. He looked at Rayna has she questioned what happened while she was trapped in the elevator.
“Well... it was strange, but... frankly you'll think I'm crazy. Random people were... changed into... horrible mutants before us. A man with a horrible eye, a lady with.. metallic ears. And some... mutant lips lady. The weird thing was they were all made of metal. Anyways they were attacking us and beating us, but.. something happened and the earth literally punched the eye guy. The other red head set the chick with the ears on fire. Some kid fixed the lips lady.” Lucas said as he managed to get himself back into the bed.
“The eye guy escaped... I try to show sympathy, and yeah. I'm an idiot. I know. But i figured he was human... it might be possible to return him to human again. When I think about it, there might be a family missing their father now, because we couldn't save that man.” Lucas said looking out the window.

With the doctors gone and her question set all Rayna could do was wait for an answer from the red head. At least the guy seemed to be stable enough to answer her question. This was good, she had a feeling Lukas would not be so willing to speak with her. At least with this guy they could talk about what was going on, that was good, it kept them sane. Well as sane as talking about elements and metal people can get you. She shifted in her bed to turn her body so that she could face Lucas better. He seemed to be in pain, but Rayna understood as much. She had a higher pain tolerance then most, being able to have multiple bones broken, electrocuted, stabbed and shot in one night and no pass out. Sometimes a shot or stabbing was enough to place a person into shock, but not Rayna. Ever since she was young she was trained for such things, used as bait for the enemy on countless situations.
She took all his words and turned them into facts, she left space for improvement, but everything he said sadly made sense with what she saw. Were they all going crazy at the same time or was something really going on? Rayna was not sure how much she really believed but she needed to know everything. "Yea well for our own safety they were better off dead. I will be honest with you I had my own.. demon to deal with. His hands were metal and he was strong, stronger then any human could be." She shook her head, I have this feeling there is really something going on. The man I fought spoke of a master, so they were surely working for someone, or something stronger.
She reached to the bed stand and wrote down her public phone number on a piece of paper. She folded it and tossed it over to Lucas' bed. "Either way I think we should keep in contact about this, here's my number, if I don't answer just leave a message." She did not feel safe talking about all this while a nurse or doctor could walk in at any moment. After all, wasn't Lucas being discharged soon? He had been more willing to work with the doctors and police, unlike herself.

Lucas looked over at Rayna has she digested the story. The look on her face seemed to show that she believed him. He sighed however when she spoke of them being better of dead. ” I know, in retrospect it might have been a better idea to just kill him but...” Lucas sighed and looked back at Rayna as she scribbled a number onto a piece of paper. It was a phone number, he quickly typed it into his phone and sent the blond girl a text so she'd have his. “You too huh? Well, if you could return the favour and keep my up to date with this insanity, I'd really appreciate it. Oh. Hey, i just remembered something. What happened to the kid?” Lucas asked looking over at Rayna, like an eager puppy. An eager two hundred and forty pound puppy.
He heard the nurses and doctors approaching however, he wasn't sure if shed have time to reply before they burst in the door.

"Yea no problem" She heard the shuffling from outside but decided to answer.
"The kid didn't make it." With that her phone vibrated and she made sure to add Lucas' name before hiding the phone once more from the hospital staff. A nurse came into the room, a different one from before with a clipboard in her hand. She moved towards Lucas and handed him the clipboard.
"Mr. O'Connor if you could sign here and here, we have your prescriptions at the counted. There is also a slip there explaining what you can and can not do while recovering." She smiled at Rayna and turned to the door.
"Come to the desk when you are ready." She left the room and Rayna waved at Lucas.
"Have a good time being free of this place, don't run into anymore danger while your out there."
