Generally, staying long after work wasn't one of her habits. She was pretty quick to pack up and be off campus within fifteen minutes - which, to some people would make you think she hated her job, which…well, it was a job, no one loved their jobs. This was Marielle, though…the day-to-day drag through splinting a sprained wrist or dodging projectile vomit from the kids who were stupid enough to go to class sick never exactly fit her grandiose expectations of life. She wasn't entirely inhuman, however, and when the group of co-workers she liked the most asked her to come along with them to the café on campus, she obliged. It was nice enough, she supposed - the place was quiet when the group of women showed up, and stayed relatively that way the whole thirty minutes they were there socializing.
She supposed it was too good to be true, really. The small crowd of nurses thinned after a while, and she bid a farewell to her final coworker as she floated out of the café's doors, whereupon Marielle lifted herself from her seat to get herself another latte, wishing she'd changed out of her uniform before she'd come with them. It did nothing for her figure, honestly. She stayed leaning against the counter after she'd ordered her drink, playing with the idea of staying and relaxing for a bit longer. Her dog was tied outside today so she didn't have to rush home before he made a mess, she supposed. It couldn't hurt.
Within a few moments of waiting for her drink it came to her attention that she was not, as she assumed, the only one left in the café. As if by magic, another body appeared suddenly, leaning against the counter next to her, close to her, and just the smell that came off him made her upper lip curl slightly in disgust. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, no - it was just she hated that testosterone smell, which was normally a mix of cologne and sweat. It was beyond her how others could enjoy it. She continued to determinedly stare over the counter, drumming her fingers atop it in an attempt to make a point. Maybe there was one who would be smart and take the hint. That was a ridiculous notion, and she knew it, but one could be optimistic.
"Oooh, so you're the one they told me about. Not bad." Not bad. She felt her skin crawl at the way he said it, it was repulsive. Despite this, as calm as could be, she simply responded "I had no idea I was so famous. Would you like an autograph, perhaps, so you can revel in that instead of invading my personal space?" Naturally, this didn't seem to deter him - instead she felt him get closer to her. The look that filtered across her face must have been considerably bad, since the girl who came back with her drink gave her a mildly terrified look. Forcing a smile for two seconds, she gave the woman a hand signal that silently told her wait just one moment sweetpea.
"Depends where you're gonna sign it…" the man beside her commented, and she could hear the filthy leer in his voice. Finally, she turned to look at him, giving him the most double-edged, saccharine smile she could manage. While he was busy looking at her - not her face, though, she knew that much - she slowly shifted her weight, lifted her foot to move over the top of his, and slowly lowered the tip of her heeled shoe right on top of his foot. "On the part of your body that touched me, obviously. Seeing as I remove male body parts that decide to touch me." she responded, calm as ever, twisting her foot slowly to grind her heel into his foot. She was met with an incredibly satisfying sound of the man attempting to smother a squeak of pain. She was going to keep doing it, too, until she got an apology.

Thursday meant light classes and a whole lot of study time. With no classed tomorrow she had a whole weekend to look forward to. What would Valoel be doing on a weekend? Well some homework and reading were sure to be on her to-do list. Other then that Valoel would probably make sure to find time to do other relaxing things. She walked down the campus sidewalk and decided that getting something to eat was a good idea before she made the trip home. Sure she could wait till she got home, but when hunger hit it was a good idea to just feed it.
She paused as she noticed a familiar being in front of the campus cafe. With a smile on her face she ran over and smothered the canine in affection and love. Sure she saw the dog everyday but that didn't mean she couldn't show it love everyday. After a few extra pats she kissed the dog on the nose and made her way into the cafe.
She spotted her caretaker right away and made a beeline to the front counter. Valoel noticed the action Marielle was taking towards the man, but stayed quiet. It had taken a bit, but after being around Mari, Val learned just what to say or do. "Miss. Marielle, done with work? I just got off my last class."
She flashed a warm smile at the cashier who seemed to be happy that there was another person in the room. Valoel took a seat at the counter and looked at the menu, she was really hungry after all. "Can I have a Iced Tea and a toasted raisin bagel with butter." With her order in place she looked at Marielle and her.. friend with a squinting glance. "Is everything ok?" She wasn't sure if should should ask, but she did anyways.

She hadn't really expected anyone to come to the café this long after classes, but she wasn't really surprised when she saw a blonde head bobbing towards the place outside the large windows. She expected the dog was a lure there. Her actions nor her stance changed despite seeing this, though - Valoel had only been under her eye for a couple weeks so far, but by now the girl should have mentally established that when Marielle was decidedly torturing a man, there was a reason behind it. And boy was there. Luckily, the girl did indeed seem to brush it off as she walked into the place, speaking to her as if nothing was amiss, and the older woman smiled slightly as she pushed her glasses up a bit.
"I've been off work for a bit now. I was just here with some of the other nurses for a bit. I thought you may have already headed home." she responded idly, ignoring the pathetic whine that came from the man whom was trying to pull his foot free. She pushed her foot down with more force as he did, pretending to inspect her nails - a statement that said clearly I can do this all day. Both parties of this exchange seemed to be determined, however, as the man was gritting his teeth, and she could see his glare from her peripheral vision - but he had yet to apologize. Too bad, so sad.
She twisted a bit at the waist, pulling her money out of her pocketbook even at the awkward angle and managed to pay the woman working the counter, grabbing the steaming cup of cappuccino carefully as she repositioned herself to stand naturally again, taking a sip of the hot liquid as she leaned her weight to her left foot for a split second, which was followed by another satisfying hiss. She shot the man an amused sideways glance, just enough to catch his red face and angered expression. She suspected that if hitting her wouldn't get him potentially expelled, he may have done it. At least this one had some logic in him.
As she took another small drink, the blonde to her other side spoke again, and she tilted her line of vision towards the young girl, smiling convincingly as she answered "Oh everything's just fine dear. I'm just waiting for a 'I'm sorry to have disturbed your peaceful off time Miss LaRoux, I won't be a bother again' from Casanova here." She heard the irritated sound to her left but refused to even acknowledge him at the moment. It was a shame she even had to spoon-feed him how he could achieve freeing his foot - typical, though, men were too prideful to apologize voluntarily. Funny how quick that could crumble with just the right amount of pressure…
She lifted her foot for a brief second, as if releasing him, shifted it just a bit to the right, and leaned all her weight back down. There was a muffled curse, followed by a very begrudging "Okay I'm sorry and I'll never bother you again just remove your fucking foot." She smiled. "What's the magic word?" This was met by a feral growl, which did nothing whatsoever to intimidate her. There was another five seconds of silence, after which she leaned a bit more and he hissed a venomous "Please?" Promptly, she removed her foot from atop his. "That wasn't so hard now was it?" she asked as she stepped away, which was met with a small string of curses and the man quickly exiting the café.
Satisfied, she took a seat next to her ward. "I hope you weren't waiting for me to be able to go home."

Valoel wanted to say something, she really did, but she feared what Marielle would say in turn. At first it had only been rumors, rumors she had paid no mind to. In fact she couldn't believe them, a nurse at school that could make grown men cry? Sadly Valoel was starting to see that maybe, just maybe some rumors had a little truth to them. Still, Valoel was learning that Marielle never hurt the guys without a reason, Val just though at sometimes those reasons weren't very strong.
Really, Valoel was sure that a good 'thanks but no thanks was enough.' At least it had worked for her, though not many guys every approached her in such a way. That bought Valoel to a different topic, why does Marielle tend to dress the way she did? Sure during school she was a normal nurse. Yet any other day it was a different story. She had to wonder if she was allowed to bring such a topic up? Like maybe if Miss. Marielle watch how she dressed, less men would hit on her. Though it was just a thought, there maybe other reasons to the problem.
Ah, that was a good guess and Valoel started to feel bad. She had completely forgotten to tell Marielle that she had moved around her classed a bit, just slightly. "Oh yes, about that. I had a few of my classed moved around a bit so I would have time in between them for homework or studying." It was a good plan, she didn't have too many classes, but enough that she needed a little break in between each to get some sort of break. Valoel was a good student and all, but that was only because of the time she placed into her studies.
Valoel squinted as she looked over at the man, that really looked like it hurt. She gave him this look of 'just do it, hurting your pride will feel better then your foot.' At first she thought the guy was never going to give in, but then he cracked. Valoel dumbfounded just watched as Marielle got what she wanted and let the guy go. She watch him leave the cafe and all she could think of was 'wow'. Any other person, and that could have went badly. She really did not know how Marielle did it, the whole thing was a bit scary.
She was distracted by the tea and bagel she order, which she paid for easily. "Oh no, I was going to spend a little time here before heading home. Maybe even wait for Jen to get out of her last class, though that is still over an hour from now." She took a sip from her tea and smiled, she really liked the iced tea here. She then took a quick bite from her bagel and finished chewing before she continued. "I just got a bit hungry while I was waiting, In fact I had no clue that you were still on campus, until I saw Seven outside."

When Val mentioned waiting for one of her friends, Marielle was glad it was one of the ones she approved of. He trusted that Jennifer girl to look after Val when she wasn't around, she had no problem with her. She suspected it wasn't entirely within her right to brand the girl's friends as bad or good influences but even if she was only the blonde's temporary caretaker, she knew where any trouble Val could get into came from. She, of course, never made any comment towards this, and allowed all three into her home as same as any. None of them were male at least – that was definitely a plus.
Her mood seemed to be much improved ever since the subject of her initial annoyance had left the room. Granted she didn't exactly exude cheer or any such nonsense, but her body posture was much more relaxed, leaning her weight on the counter top to her right elbow, and her chin cradled in her hand as she stared down at the foam on the top of her drink. Her ward mentioned her dog tied outside, and she smiled for a brief moment and rolled her eyes, twisting in her seat to look out one of the long windows at the front, finding the golden retriever staring back with an eager expression. Obviously he thought he should be in there with them.
She turned back to Val, her expression still seeming slightly amused “Ah yes, well, he's been eating the neighbor's bushes and they're putting up the new fence today so I brought him with me. The weather is cold enough that spending a few hours in the car didn't hurt. Thankfully he only seems to chew on things that don't belong to me.” She had half expected, every time she took a break to come walk the dog, that half her seats would suddenly no longer be stuffed and control wires would be in pieces. Luckily this wasn't the case. If it had she would have found a way to neuter the dog a second time.
“It's been kind of entertaining. Bring a dog with you to work and suddenly your co-workers turn into gushing puddles of softie. And everybody wanted a turn to walk him so honestly I think he spent more time on campus than in the car because that's what everyone seemed to do on their break...” she added, sipping her cappuccino carefully. It had made her life tons easier – not having to worry about your dog messing in your car? Big plus. She hadn't even made a single complaint about the male coworkers that had approached (albeit apprehensively) and asked. Honestly you'd think they'd never seen a dog before. It was a novelty of one at work, she guessed – it was different.
“Now lets hope his energy is out so he won't eat anymore bushes. Or worse, the fence. I'm pretty sure he just hates the neighbor, to be perfectly honest.” she didn't care to think how many times her neighbor and his wife had complained – loudly – about her dog. One of them, anyway – the other one had no issues with him.

Valoel could see the change in Marielle's mood, it was good to see. She had been slightly worried that the man had messed up Marielle's mood for the rest of the day, luckily it was not. She took another bite from her meal as she listened. At least Marielle was nice enough to take Seven to work with her while the neighbors got their new fence up. Valoel couldn't help but feel happy that Seven only messed with the neighbor's plants, she did not know how she would feel about the dog getting into her plants. At least the girl had been smart enough to set up a small gate around her garden. After all she was sure at least three of her plants would be deadly if a dog tried to eat them. Also she needed to keep her newest seed alive, oh her mother would destroy her if she somehow killed this new plant. At least it sounded like Seven was getting all the attention he could ever need today.
Valoel felt bad that she didn't know that Marielle had brought Seven over to the school today, if she had she would have jumped at the chance to walk him. Though to be fair she did have her own things to do today, a few test, a bit of studying, she hardly ever allowed anything to get in the way of her schooling, but the dog was such a cutie. "If I had known I would have offered to help as well, though it does sound like you had more then enough help. Fair enough I think my Nature Study group would have loved to meet Seven." She finished up her bagel and sipped her tea till she was done with that as well. That really did hit the spot, nothing like a good snack when hungry. Her trash was picked up by the lady on the other side of the counter, Valoel smiled and thanked the woman.
"I think Seven will be just fine, but if anything I could take him out between studying if he still has a lot of energy" She opened her backpack and took out her planner, better safe then sorry. She looked it over for a few minutes and them closed it. "I only have two things to study today, looks like an easy night tonight. Did you have any plans for today? Maybe we could do something before going home? Just.. an idea."

“More than enough would be an understatement. I think Colette wanted to take him home with her.” she responded as the blonde girl made her show of interest in taking care of the dog today, as well. Sad but true – what was worse the middle-aged woman she spoke of was already renowned for being the cat lady. She didn't need to add dog to the list, too. Marielle kept to drinking down her coffee as the younger woman beside her spoke. When she was asked about the possibility of going to do anything, she had a slight moment of self-consciousness, reaching up to pat her hair which probably looked like hell by now. Unable to resist the pull of vanity, she reached up, pulled out her hairband, and attempted to smooth the ridiculous amount of hair down. It was easier said than done.
“I don't have anything in particular to do, no.” she responded, taking to sinking her fingers into the long hair and pulling them through, unwilling to fish in her bag for a hairbrush. There was a slight pause as she distracted herself with this motion, before adding “Though I don't know what there could be...it's a bit late in the day. Did you have something in mind?” It was a slightly...dangerous question, she supposed. With Val, it could be anything from going to the movies to wanting ferris wheel ride...though, it could have been worse, she supposed. At least she wasn't the teenage girl that suggested going to a club...then again, that wouldn't be the brightest suggestion to give your caretaker, anyway.
“Though, I'd like to change clothes first.” she stated, motioning down to the light violet, loose-fitting outfit that she was never too fond of. At least it as a color she liked...that was about it. Why did she pick a profession with an awful taste in uniforms? Well, then again...there really weren't any jobs where the uniform was appealing...besides questionable ones, and she was not even going to think about that. She finished her drink off and finally made the effort to move, finally, lifting herself off her seat and pushing her hair back over her shoulder, moving towards the nearby trash to toss her empty disposable cup into it.

The young women shrugged. She really had no set plans but felt that a night out with her caretaker would be fun. She had honestly forgot that time was just flying by, which killed her first plan of taking Seven to the park. Maybe a movie or dinner out would be a nice change a pace. Not that Valoel was against staying home, she was just an active person and liked changing things up from time to time. "Not really, but I was thinking maybe a movie or dinner, my treat if you don't mind." She smiled and hopped off the stool she was stilling on. She popped her planer back into her bag and tossed the backpack over her shoulder. She then bent down to pick up her laptop bag, wouldn't it be the worse luck if she forgot that one.
"A change of clothes is a good idea, plus I bet Seven can not wait to get back home." She headed for the door with that happy hop of a walk that she always had. She paused for a moment and reached into her pocket and pulled out her cell phone. "I better text the girls to let them know what I'll be up to, would hate for Jenn to come here looking for me." She text up a storm to her three friends and returned the phone to its home pocket. "Is the car right outside or do we have to walk a bit?" She asked the taller woman as she held the door open. Now they could go home, relax a bit ad then head out for a fun night.
