Though he allows himself to stay that way due to past experiences with friendship. He views feelings for others as just getting in the way, and has a self made defensive mechanism to stop such things. First off, he is overly aggressive. He doesn't care if he offends anyone, nor does he care if they hate him. He blatantly insults and will easily step all over someone to get his way. He has been alone so long, and in defense mode so long that he just adapted it into his every day attitude. In the end, he is trying to push everyone away as he views himself as 'dangerous to be around' and it's the easiest way to make sure no one likes him. Thus making interaction with him hard and limited. Secondly, there are many people who can handle him, and he understands the power of rank. People higher than him, or in control of his fate he tends to be passive with. He does nothing to upset them, but more or less does what they say and leaves it at that. He finds talking back to those who are above him in a certain rank is not worth the problems that come afterward. Though Red is definitely not a pushover. There is a limit of how much a person can take. Lastly, Red isn't heartless. He has a deep hatred for friendship, but that's just his outer layer. Of course he's hiding his true feelings, or even his true intentions. He has been known to help people out anonymously and never ask for any type of praise or compensation. Deep down he cares for those around him, but not enough to ever show it outwardly. His emotions are bottled up and stored away. The only thing that's wrong with that is, his bottle fills up and some of it leaks out. [/style] |

He felt there was no reason to leave a child in the care of a random family. Why was he given up on? He couldn't come up with any idea as to how it was possible. Though the family he was given to was great, he had a sister who grew up with him, and as a small child he was kind. There was nothing that got him down. He loved his family, and they loved him. Years passed, and he grew up with his sister. He knew by then he was 'adopted' and thought nothing of it. His sister was his sister, his mother was his mother, etc. He was living it up, but as all good stories go, a tragic happening occurred. On his way home from middle school with his sister, it had rained pretty hard. There was flash floods all around the area, but they didn't expect it to be this bad. The teachers had stepped in and told Red and his sister that it was too dangerous to go out. Red being arrogant as all little kids are told them no and stormed off with his sister just as school let out. They walked home, trudging in the light flooded sidewalk. There was nothing to worry about at that point. Red's mind was just on getting home and keeping his cool in front of his little sister. The latter part was the easy part, the former, not so much. The path to his house had a very rickety bridge ahead. Even on good days he was afraid of going over it. It wasn't a wooden bridge, no. It was a small concrete bridge looming over a river. One you would normally see a troll under in a fantasy-style setting. As they reached the bridge, the water was already up to the banks and pushing against the bridge pretty hard. Red, determined to get home, pulled his sister over the bridge. She was half-willing, but as most little girls are, she was scared. Red reassured her nothing was going to happen, and they continued. Just as they began crossing, the water began to rapidly rise. Fate had set in and Red's only reaction was to quickly grab unto the side of the bridge, against the railing. His sister on the other hand, was only able to hold on to her big brother's hand, before finally both their strength gave, and he let go. Moments later, a few passing people noticed the bridge had been overcome, and also saw Red, holding on for dear life. Quickly, a rescue team went out and pulled Red from the bridge. That was the last time Red had ever seen his little sister. Her body was found much later, she had clearly drowned. Red didn't attend the funeral. He was no longer part of the family. Red had been given to the orphanage, the family clearly blaming him for the death of their 'only' child. Red couldn't blame them, but deep down, he hated them back. Ever since that day, he hasn't been the same. He became a delinquent of sorts, and anti-social. On few occasions he has saved a little girl from being bullied, or even helped out when needed. Clearly, he couldn't see a little girl cry without feeling the need to help. It was a weakness he developed due to his own traumatic experience. Though he always helped with his sarcastic attitude, pretending as if he didn't really want to help. Maturity came, school was over. He was able to take a breathing sigh of relief as he figured out if he was going to college or not. The orphanage wouldn't keep him anymore, but his grades were good enough to get him into college. Distancing himself from EVERYONE gave him time to study. Though his constant trouble causing made his grades dip a bit. Though by this time, luck smiled on him. He was given a scholarship to study abroad. He would have to take this chance to move to America. There was nothing left for him where he was. It would also allow him to run from his guilt that he kept deep down inside. [/style] |
