The raptors kept close but stayed behind the group, after all they were here to keep the group moving, not help them. The lead raptor moved slowly beside Alec. As the leader he had picked out who was the leader of the human group, this would be who he would follow and keep an eye on. He had been stabbed once already he would not allow the same to happen to him siblings, no this human needed to be watched.
The middle brother followed behind Nate and Yana, along with his younger brother. He had been the one to push Yana forward under the order of his Alpha. Now he was in charge of keeping an eye on her, he had felt the same power the his bother felt. Destiny made sure to let the pack know that this human was a bit different from the others. She would be given the important task that Destiny would entrust in this group of humans, but first they needed to get up stairs. The youngest of the raptors pushed passed both his oldest brother an Alec, he was not scared of the room. Maybe it was because of his age, but fear was not a part of him, he had lived and died brave once before.
He moved forward, staying as low as a raptor could, his eyes spotted the two waring creatures. He looked back at the growing group, raptors and humans, what was this world coming to? She clicked at him siblings, he would distract the cats to let the others continue. He charged forward and crashed though glass to attack the Lion, the Megistotherium had not been cased in glass, but now it was both distracted and confused by the raptor.

Above them all the Teratorn looked down with its cold yellow eyes, with the addition of the raptors it knew that it had to wait more. This bird was smart, it was planning as it watched the humans. He wanted to make a meal of them, but he would not attack until they were better distracted. The bird kept still, wings folded, he would play the role of a fake bird. After all if he moved now he would only gain the attention of that Sabertooth tiger, who had lost interest in the elk when a new scent entered the room. Now the humans had a problem, the bird was smart, stayed away, but the cat, that was a different story.
The Sabertooth did not know what this strange smell was, but found the human scent inviting. It moved slowly, weaving passed sign stands and glass cases. Soon it came within a few feet of the humans, with only a short glass case standing between itself and dinner. The Sabertooth, which was to the right of the group crouched low and growled.

Alec and the others were in a bit of a bind, but that didn't stop the young boy from pressing forward with a determined smile. There was no way he was feeling this strong...calling, was it? Only to get eaten by a reanimated velociraptor-spirit thing. With that mindset, Alec was much more prepared to handle the task at hand - getting through this and making sure everyone came out alive. For now, all he could do was to keep his head high and keep moving. His two companions trailed either beside or behind him, staying fairly close. Obstacles were much less of a threat when faced with a team, no?
This room was much darker than he anticipated, causing somewhat unnecessary anxiety. The good thing was that if they encountered anything with wretched eyesight, it wouldn't be able to detect them either. Alec was unaware of the ancient bird atop the ceiling, but he did hear a low growling noise. Well that definitely couldnt be good. "Guys I dont mean to alarm you but...did you hear something growl?" Just as a precaution, Alec gripped his knife tightly in his hand, using his cane to steady himself as he trailed carefully deeper into the spooky museum exhibit.
Alec had a fleeting thought (and likely not the best time to be distracted). We're in a museum...that's been taken over by ancient aliens, deities, spiritual beings, fate, whatever the hell it is. Spirit monsters are herding us, we've been attacked by piles of animated bones, and there's a wall of purple crap blocking all entrances. Boy this will be a story to tell my grandkids one day...
WORDS!: 281 TAG!: Yana & Nate NOTES!: The anticipation is killing me...and it may soon - literally.

The ice dinosaur room had been bad and they had barely been able to get out of that one alive. He knew the ice age room would also held dangers. What dangers, he was unsure. It had been far too long since he stepped foot in this museum.
Unlike the dinosaur room, there was literally no light within the room. And much to Nate’s disappointment, the velociraptors did not glow. They would have to navigate the room without the use of light. Nate cautiously held the axe in front of his injured leg like a blind man would do with a pole in order to avoid tripping over something and causing himself more pain. Other than that, the only thing he had to rely on were his other senses.
A growl…? Nate thought back and perhaps he had heard something. But he was a photographer goddamit, he was a visual person. Wait! He was a photographer. He still had his digital SLR with him. If he could just get it out, perhaps they could use the flash to see. Nate used his free hand to fumble with his camera bag. He did not like pulling out his camera in this situation, not one bit. That camera was the first thing he bought with his own money and it was one of his most treasured objects in life, behind Nemi of courses. Nemi was always first. But this was an emergency… even if it did cause him heartbreak and pain to place the object in danger. [/style] |

There was always a risk when bringing to life creatures that were once living, sure these creatures had been animals, bent on hunting and living, but now they had a task. Though even with a given task Destiny was left with the uncertainty that these raptors would not do as they were told. Push the humans, lead then to the top floor where the Table stood and then leave the rest to Destiny. So far the Raptors acted like they had at least half a brain, one Destiny really wanted to destroy now, but he could be useful later. Destiny knew it had limited resources and would have to keep a look out for every option. So Destiny continued to use the lead raptor as the eyes to what was going on, after all, until the Table was free there was no reason to get close and alert Fate to its presences.
While the youngest of the Raptors were busy making a safe path the other two exchanged looks and then a few low clicks. With orders from his brother the younger of the two smacked the side of his neck against Yana and bent low, was he offering her a ride? Yes he was, after all she was a female, which to the dinosaurs meant she was weak and slow. Little did the beast know that this woman could really hold her own.
In seconds the room went from a moment of silence to chaos as the Sabertooth crashed through a wall of glass and landed to the right of the group. It was time to forget sneaking around and run the rest of the dangerous large room. The lead Raptor screeched and hopped right over Alec as it lead the way across the room. Bolting passed his youngest brother and smashing a large case that held a flock of dodo birds. These birds, with fear in their eyes starting to split up and run in different directions, only causing more chaos to the dark room. With or without Yana on his back the middle brother took off to follow his brother leaping away from the sabertooth as it lashed out its claws at the fast reptile.
Above them that Teratorn that had been watching finally made his move, finding the chaos to be just what he had been waiting for. Weighing his options he picked a target and glided down, talons extended and aimed from Alec from behind. It ripped into the young man's green shirt, hopefully the shirt would be all it ripped into and it pumped its oversize wings to gain height so it did not crash. Meanwhile the sabertooth was left with only one mean choice and leap at Nate aiming for the back of his neck.

Alec stood in the middle of everything, paralyzed momentarily at the sight of the raptor trying to take Yana for a ride. The young teen already loathed the idea of being herded by spirit-like dinosaurs, but he definitely wasn't keen on the idea of saddling up. There was no telling where that thing would take her, and if she had any sense, she would proceed with utmost caution. Since the room was so dark, they couldn't afford any mistakes right now. Every action they had taken was being guided along by something somewhere, and screw ups were not an option.
But then, like always, everything happened at once. While Nate was fumbling around with an object that Alec couldn't quite make out, the sabertooth tiger rammed through a casing of glass and launched itself in front of the group. Brandishing his knife, he readied himself for the assault when the feline leaped over his head and back toward Nate. There wasn't much he could do for the poor fellow because a moment later, a pair of wickedly sharp talons latched themselves into Alec's back, tearing into part of his flesh. It was deep enough to send searing bouts of red-hot pain coursing throughout his entire body, but not deep enough for the bird to hold a grip. His battle instincts kicked in, and in a matter of seconds he rolled in front of him, trying to lose the bird.
With a quick glance, he saw that Nate didn't have anything to protect himself with other than...oh, the axe! He still had something he could use, so he wouldn't be entirely helpless. His strained eyes attempted to focus on Yana, but from that angle he was unable to tell whether or not she was riding on the raptor. He wanted to help the two, but he had his own problems to deal with right now. Usually in movies, the bad guys wanted to separate the good guys and keep them all at bay. Teamwork was always the key to winning the fight, so Alec decided to sacrifice his own well-being to help out his friend. He reached into his pocket and punched a few numbers rapidly, hoping that this person's cell phone would be quick enough. He found a ringtone labeled "Chime" and initiated the music, which was a high-pitched ringing noise. With all the chaos, the animals should have been able to hear the music playing from the phone. He quickly tossed the phone to the other side of the room, praying that the bright screen and music would distract them long enough for the team to move quickly.
While he was doing this, he was pushed over by a dodo bird trying to escape from something. His head hit the side of a glass case, eliciting a sickening crunching sound. Luckily he was alright, save for the small cut on his left temple, but it could have been much worse. Something must have been on his side because any other time he'd have been dead long ago.

Everything seemed to happen at once for Nate. One moment he was not paying attention and trying to get his camera out of his camera bag. The next, he was tripping over some strange bird that had run out of a glass case. Suddenly he was glad that he never took his camera out of his bag. There was no doubt that it would have shattered. Unfortunately, he could not say the same for his leg. The burned area hurt when he fell on top of the panicking bird. A roar above him alerted him to the giant cat that had just narrowly missed his neck. Nate felt himself very lucky. Not only was his camera safe, but he narrowly missed death again.
Behind him, he could hear Alec struggling with something. Nate was unsure what it was in the darkness but it looked large and incredibly terrifying. Nate shooed the bird away from him and gingerly picked himself off of the ground. He could not see what Yana was doing but it did not sound like she was facing the same creatures they were facing. Nate took his axe in hand. He wanted to help Alec but could not. Randomly swinging an axe when he could not see what he was hitting would probably be the worst thing he could possibly do at the moment.
Luckily, Alec seemed to have his own ideas on how to escape. Nate saw the man pull what looked like a cell phone from his pocket. Nate could see the light from the cell phone flashing before he heard the sounds of the ringtone. Alec then threw the tiny device into away from the group and escaped from the hulking beast on his back.
Nate walked toward Alec and reached a hand out to the young man who had also tripped over something in the process. ”Come on,” Nate whispered urgently. They needed to run now that they had a chance. Yana was still up front with the raptors. It was best that they regroup and got out of the room as quickly as possible. [/style] |

But we won't fade into darkness
In the darkness there was a soft growl. Yana didn't hear it, but the boys did, and so did the raptors. One of them bodily nudged her and then lowered himself down. A... a ride? Yana didn't ask questions, she put the extinguisher on her back using the shoulder strap it had before grabbing onto the raptor and wrapping her legs, feet, and arms tightly around him.
The moment she did, chaos erupted and the raptor was off at an impossible pace. "Oh my gosh!" Her voice was a trill of excitement and fear as she held on for dear life. Nate and Alec were left behind to defend themselves as a screech, flapping of wings, and roar erupted behind them. They moved into the darkness ahead and Yana turned her head to behind her to see two human shapes start to follow after them in the dimness. Her eyes were beginning to adjust, but she wasn't perfect after all. Hurry up boys!

The Teratorn screeched in excitement, it had done well in weakening one of the members of the herd. He was ready to make a turn and go for the young man a second time when something caught his attention. Years the instincts kicked in and the bird dived at the cell phone. Attacking it with its beak, trying to quiet the thing from the strange sound it was making.
While the large bird was distracted, the saber had taken its chance, leaping at the black haired male, but missed as the man dropped away from view. Who know that tripping over a dodo could ever save a person's life. The saber growled as it smacked head first into a glass case, shattering it on impact. Missing its first target the tiger was convinced that it could pick of something else just as easy in the room. That was when the saber spotted the large bird and switched its attention to that.
Slowly it crept across the room, stalking its new pray with a new found hunger. Meanwhile the raptors were doing their best to make a clear opening for both siblings and the humans, who in a way became a part of their pack within seconds. The lead raptor called out in his high pitch voice to the humans and his siblings, yelling that the path was clear. The youngest brother, who had been off fighting, killed off the lion and Megistotherium. Being alive, but not, was a plus for the raptors.
The raptor who had been in charge of Yana made the trip across the room seem easy, his glowing body lighting the path for a few seconds for the others left behind. He made it to the entrance of the next room and turned back, another few clicked to alert his brothers to where he was.
The two brothers left, the leader and the youngster, raced back to Nate and Alec, poking and prodding the men to get moving. It was now or never if the group wanted to make it to the hall that would lead them to the Ocean Exhibit and then the stairs to the second floor.

Things were finally beginning to look a little brighter! Alec watched with muddled vision, trying to take in everything around him. It wasn't until Nate offered assistance that he realized they were all still in the middle of this chaos and confusion. The young teenager grabbed onto Nate's hand and pulled himself up (which wasn't exactly the easiest task when you had just knocked half your brains out). Meaningless words escaped from Nate, making Alec wonder what in the world he was talking about, but he didn't have time to wait around! They turned and ran toward the exit, leaving behind an exhibit full of extinct animals that wanted them dead. Thankfully they were able to use the glow of the raptor to find their way, Alec assuming the other raptors herding them along just behind.
Finally, a use for these things that tried to eat us earlier...At least Yana is having fun."
Once in the next hallway, Alec stopped for about four seconds to catch his breath. It wasn't long enough for them to start prodding, but it helped to clear his mind for a moment. Everything that happened within the past few seconds registered, eliciting a wave of chills down his back. Now that he had been through hell twice, there was no way he would ever be the same. Nausea came swiftly, urging Alec to move over to the side and empty his stomach contents on the floor. But now wasn't the time - his instincts came first, and they were telling him to get the hell out.
"I'll be fine. It's just...I'm sorry you guys had to be dragged into this. Come on - our destination is just through this exhibit and up the stairs." Alec did feel awful about having the two involved in all of this, but at the same time he was very greatful for the help. Both Yana and Nate had been helpful to his survival, and he was sure that without them he'd have been dinosaur food long ago. Wiping the excess water from his eye, he quickened his pace so that he was just in front of Nate but right beside the raptor and Yana. He looked at her and spoke softly. "Thanks for everything - don't think any of us will be the same after this, right?" Alec turned back and grinned widely at Nate, hoping to try and ease the tension he felt creeping up. It wasn't an easy task when their lives were at sake, but it's all he could do to keep from having a breakdown.
The ocean exhibit seemed much more quiet. In fact, right now, he couldn't make out any gigantic creatures that could swallow them whole or anything that looked remotely dangerous. Now that didn't mean it was going to be safe in here, but so far things were eerily quiet, which sent Alec into slight panic mode. It was still dark, of course, only illuminated by the glow of the raptors, but he couldn't make out much with their limited source of lighting. He hoped that Yana and Nate were watching too because he had lost his cane in the previous exhibit. Now his only weapon was the knife, still clutched in his left hand.

The other two raptors that had stayed behind were nudging him and Alec along in order to hurry them towards their goal. Meanwhile, the raptor that had Yana riding on its back was glowing, allowing him to see ahead of him and avoid unnecessarily stepping on broken glass. Oh now it glows, Nate thought bitterly. That would have helped before when we were wandering through the darkness being attacked by god knows what.
Still, he allowed himself to be led into the next room by the raptors. If he recalled, past this room was the Voices of Africa room, which was, thankfully, a safe and non dangerous room. When they arrived, they were able to slow down just a little bit to calm down after almost facing certain death. ”There’s no need to thank me, really.” Nate said in reply to Alec. It’s not like I did anything helpful, Nate thought to himself as he grimaced at the gashes on Alec’s back. There was not much he could have done to prevent it but they still looked painful and Nate could do nothing to help. ”And you’re right. Nothing will be the same again.”
They were able to pass through safely and into the ocean room. Other than some traditional African songs being sung, there was not much else to the room. Once they were finally in the ocean room Nate suddenly felt a bit of hope surge through him. He had no idea what this insane place held for them but sincerely hoped that it was as calm the African Voices Exhibits. And that sharks and aquatic creatures would not be able to swim in air here.
