It wasn't until now that Alec realized something - sitting in his room, playing on his phone of course, he spotted Lucas's phone number. The two hadn't really communicated since that awkward run-in at Walmart, but Alec had still been keeping to his promise. He had only been working out for...what, almost two weeks? The gym that he went to was the one that Lucas directed him toward. It was a bit pricey, but Alec didn't know any better since he never ventured into a gym before. Today, he wanted to go to the gym, but he wasn't in the mood go to alone.
He was dressed in a pair of solid black gym shorts and a plain white t-shirt a bit too small. Fidgeting around and adjusting his shorts, he turned over and selected Lucas's number from the menu. As the phone rang, he felt...nervous? That was an odd feeling. Alec wasn't sure what to say when the man answered the phone either.
Well that's...kind of odd. What was I supposed to say?

Lucas stepped out of the shower, the vent fan whirling, desperately trying to spin it's blades. He couldn't wait to get back into competition and get a sponsor. He had hoped to be out of this apartment already, but the world was not having any of that. No the world really seemed to hate him for some odd reason. That strange new mark on his hip was a cheerfully obvious reminder of that fact.
He checked himsaelf out in the mirror, striking a quick double bicep pose. He was sure he wasn;t any bigger, but he suddenly found himself capable of lifting a lot more then he had ever dreamed of. People were staring at the gym, not that he minded. Maybe he'd be better off in the strong man competitions?
He ran his fingers thorugh his hair just as his phone began to rang. ”Uhhhh girl look at that body! Uhhhh girl look at that body! Uhhhh girl look at that body! I work out.” it sang He was almost tempted to just let it ring until he looked at the call display. Well damn, he never expected the bean pole to call him. He picked up the phone and thought of something cocky and cool to say. He wasn't sure why, but he really liked to try and impress the kid.
“Hey kiddo, how's the protein working out for you?” He chuckled. He knew a work out was needd to actually build anything, but he might as well tease the guy.

Without thinking, Alec just let his addled mind take over and speak for him. "Hey! S-so far I've been taking it as you directed. I think I might've missed it one time. I've been going to the gym, too. The one you directed me to...ummm I don't remember the name." He paused for a second, racking his brain for the name of the gym. He hadn't any need for it because none of his friends ever ask him about going to the gym. In fact, it wasn't that he was trying to hide it, but he never really brought it up. In less than a week he had been through more than he thought possible so he began acting more secluded since. It was for a reasonable cause.
"Anyway I'm just at home right now. I kind of want to go to the gym, but...well, I need someone to go with. If you're busy that's cool I understand." Before he could even finish, he was already doubting that the man would go. Somewhere deep down he desperately wanted Lucas to be there. The man with bulging biceps was the perfect guy to work with since he knew the gym well, but Alec still felt awkward asking him. This was their first time chatting and things were about to escalate just a bit more.
He rolled over in his bed, now lying on his back with both feet propped up on the ledge of his mattress. With his free hand, he rubbed his chest, feeling the lack of muscle that he wanted. After everything happened, he wanted to get stronger to protect himself. Alec wasn't a firm believer in stuff like greek gods and magic or anything, but the Anaheim event did stir something within him that made him want to become stronger.

Lucas nodded to himself as Alec spoke, smiling at his stutter. Did he really make the boy so nervous? He'd have to play with that later on. He leaned back on the counter top as he thried to think of the name in question. ”Uh... Hmmmm Urgg... I'll think gimme a sec. I freaken work out there and almost live there I should know the name. Frigg, come on. OH! Planet Fitness!” He said triumphantly, puffing out his chest. He looked down and realized with a cheeky grin he couldn't see past his pecs. He loved being a big guy.
”Huh? Oh yeah1 sure! I was about to head there myself for a work out. Second one of the day, had to stop and get groceries, ya know how it is. So uh... let's mee in uhh.... half an hour? I just got out of the shower.” Lucas stepped away from the counter, but his towel he had wrapped around his wast decided it did not want to follow, having gotten hooked on a door handle. Lucas looked down as he felt a rather cold draft. “Huh... I gotta go, I'm naked.... Uhhhh I'll see you soon ok buddy?” He chuckled and hung up quickly, as if Alec could have seen him.
He turned back and faced the mirror, smiling to himself proudly. He puffed out his chest and struck a double bicep pose, nodding to himself. In a flash he snapped a photo of himself from just below his waste and up, in the buff, and sentr to Alec with a note. ”Just think, soon this will be the sight in YOUR mirror.”

((TIME SKIP))
25th of April | 14:15
Lucas' head bobbed gently to the beat his mp3 was blasting out into his ear buds. He sat in the back of the bus, near the door. He stood up as his stop arrived, smiling at the thought of a workout with the kid. He had no idea why he was this excited to hit the gym, maybe it was the feeling of having a protege? Maybe he was excited to have someone to o to the gym alongside him? He shrugged to himself; it didn’t matter really. He was feeling happy, and that in itself was a reason to smile. Especially considering the events that transpired at the Wright Law Offices, at both visits. The bodybuilder pulled the string to ring the alarm, and the bus soon slowed to a halt just outside of the gym's polished walls.
As he stepped out in front of the building he felt a calming rush, it was like coming home after a long day's work, the feeling of ease and belonging that came with being where you belonged. He breathed out a sigh of releif as he walked though the door and ran his membership pass over the scanner. The blocking bar swung open for him as he traded his pass for a towel from the desk clerk. He gave the woman a coy smile and a “thank you” nod. He strutted his way to the changing room. In his mind he was the ruler of the roost, and he worked hard for it. A body like his was only achieved with years of hard work, and Lucas had been at it since he hit puberty.
He set his bag down in the change room and pulled off his shirt. He was tempted to work out shirtless again, but he already got a warning for that. He frowned at the thought that someone was offended by his wanting to show off what he worked for. People flaunted money they earned, why should he flaunt his body? He grunted as he threw on a rather thin tank top. It was tighter then he remembered, not that that was a bad thing, not at all. A set of plain shorts and a change of sock and he was ready. He grabbed his towel, water bottle and his locker keys. He locked up his bag and began to walk out of the change room, pausing only to lift up his shirt and look at the strange new marking on his hip.
He knew what it could do, and he toyed with his new abilities, be he hoped that he'd never need them again, or that judges wouldn't take away too many points for it. He grunted and slammed his shirt back down before leaving the room, resting against one of the gym's support poles, staring at the door, waiting for Alec to arrive.

About an hour later, Alec arrived at the gym. He had taken his car this time, unsure of why he didn't just take a bus since that would have likely been quicker. But now he was here nonetheless, and his heart was racing! Why, exactly? He wasn't 100% sure himself. It was likely just the adrenaline coursing through his veins, ready to lift weights and to get in shape. However, there was another reason nagging at him in the back of his head that would be ignored for some time to come. With his plain white t-shirt and his semi baggy gym shorts, he opened the door to the gym and swiped his membership card.
The first thing he noticed, after walking in, was a giant beast with bright orange hair, leaning against something and staring at the door. Without realizing what he was doing, he jumped a little in surprise and hurried over to the man. "Ahhh I'm sorry! How long were you waiting on me?" His apologetic nature kicked in, not wanting to upset the man nice enough to give him the time of day at the gym so that he could get in shape. But then again, those awkward feelings made his stomach start turning, slightly knotting itself and sending butterflies all over. For some reason, Alec noticed that this guy looked so much more in shape than he previous did.
That was only a few weeks ago...there's no way he could have gotten that much more buff. Or was I just not paying attention the first time? He was looking very fit,and something about his appearance made Alec want him. Well, maybe it wasn't him that he wanted - maybe it was his body. But he wanted that badly, despite knowing that he probably would never be that size. He would try anyway, just to see how far he could get. Right now, though, he had to make sure they were on good terms and that Lucas hadn't been waiting on Alec for forever. "I'm so so sorry! You haven't been waiting long have you?"

A woman couldn't do her damn grocery shopping without something going haywire and all her artifacts going off, could she?
She'd been reaching to grab a head of lettuce when she felt a distinct and disturbingly familiar wave come off the thick metal bands that encased her upper right arm, which was promptly followed by a rumbling and shaking of the ground. It wasn't even remotely threatening, the worst that likely happened was a bottle of soda rolled off a nearby stand, and was easily mistaken as one of the many tremors the west coast faced, but she knew better. Arcturus had wasted little time in completely abandoning her shopping cart and bolting for her car outside, pulling her interface up from where it sat on her dash to be able to follow the reading as best she could through the streets...all while attempting to get ahold of someone that was actually useful that could give her backup. In the end, she got no one, and settled for leaving a particularly growley message to Giovanni about how he never served what little use he provided.
The chase lasted a full frustrating 10 minutes before stagnating outside a gym, and with the patience of a three year old waiting for her candy, she gave up waiting to see if the signal would lead her anywhere else, parked, synched and pocketed her interface so it would feed her any information as she walked, and moved to pull a few weapons out of her backseat. Her interface didn't lie – it was here, and before she pinpointed it, she needed to do two things – one, clear the area, and two, find out why it was here, of all places. Heavy pistol on one hip, oversized hunting knife on the other, and a belt with all her extra ammo at her waist to finish it off, the woman grabbed and shrugged on her black trench coat that fell to her mid-thigh, so that it covered the weapons, locked her car, and instead of stalking the parameter, headed for the building – there had to be something, someone, of interest in there.
Her first thought when she stepped in the doorway was how many casualties there were going to be if she didn't get the people out – there weren't a ton of people, but there was a couple dozen, at least. And whoever didn't bite it she would have to play crowd control...ugh. Her eyes landed on the two men by the doorway, and she was surprised to recognize both of them. 'Found the magnet'. She stepped over to stand near them, leaning on the corner of a wall in an overly casual manner, back facing the rest of the establishment, assessing the redhead, who she knew was awakened (and hence had to be watched very carefully), and the smaller kid, who she knew had been involved in that concert incident. 'Its here for Beefy Mc Musclehead' she concluded.
“You gotta problem headin' in this direction.” she said conversationally, dark eyes resting sharply on the two, focused more prominently on the redhead as she spoke. There was a pregnant pause, followed by her slowly unclasping the handgun at her hip, and “Both of you stay right there.” in a tone that begged no argument. “I have to go get the civilians out. And if you try to run-” she smiled, subtle but the effect still menacing “I have a bullet for the midget and a neutralizer that will knock muscle-for-brains off his feet.” Complete bullshit – her neutralizer only effected powers, it wasn't like slapping a shock collar on someone awakened. But they didn't need to know that. “If its after you, then your asses can stay here and help me kill it. I don't do charity.”
Without further ago, she walked into the larger room full of blissfully unaware people, pointed her gun to the ceiling, and fired one very effective round. A few of them ran for the exits immediately, but the rest were frozen and staring at her. She adapted a crazed smile, before pointing the barrel at one of the doorways. “EVERYONE OUT.” she ordered, adapting her best military voice. A few began to scramble, but there were still some left frozen. Casually, she pointed the gun as if she were aiming for them, tilting it in her hand so that the shot went far wide of the small group of four or five still left. That worked.

Lucas smiled gently as he saw the bean pole hurry over towards him, chuckling slightly as he ran over. The dark haired head bobbing along. It did nothing but make Lucas chuckle. He slowly listed himself off the pillar and extended a hand to shake the boys. ”Nah, I just got here myself, friggen bus driver was driving so slowly I could have walked faster.”
Lucas looked the boy up and dow slowly, noting what he was wearing. He seemed a little thicker then when they first met at walmart, but he had a long way to go. Lucas figured he should really ask the kid what his goals were anyways, yeah. He should do that right now. “So tell me. What are you lookinf for out of the work outs and all? I want to know what kind of training I should put you on to get you where you want to be. I know where 'I' want you to be, but...” Lucas froze for a moment, and lowered his head a touch. He grunted lowly. “Sorry, just an unimportant memory.” He folded his arms over his chest, he always felt better doing this when he had those recollections.
Lucas looked at the kid again, awaiting an answer when out of the blue, some lady walk up to them. She was wearing a long trench coat, which made Lucas' eyebrow skyrocket. She was darker skinned to, which made Lucas think of Rihanna. She was a nice looking chick, under her umbrella... ella, ella. Eh eh eh. Lucas shook his head, did that really just happen in his mind? Oh joy, now that song was stuck in his head. It didn't help it was on his MP3 player's playlist for working out. He looked her up and down as she seemed to do the same.
He couldn't resist. He tensed his folded arm and gave one of the better cocky smiles he had done in the past while. Learning to model had helped a little in showing off. “Hey girl, Like what you see?” Rather then continue to flirt, the lady went strait to business mode and pretty much stripped the man of any joy. He looked down as the lady fiddled with something under her coat. His eyes widdened when he saw what it was. “Jesus Christ...” He glared at her, not liking the fact that she was barking out order. No one told Lucas O'Connor what to do! He resigned to waiting however. She did have a gun. Lucas had a temper, he knew that, but he also knew blind fury wasn't bulletproof. Besides, he didn't want Alec to see that side of him, not yet anyways.
”Don't call my friend a midget.” He growled, finally able to come up with something to say. It was easier to defend others then himself he found. More often then not he let himself open for another jab. “And kill what exactly!? I'm just a bodybuilder. I freaken lift things for a job. I'm not a police officer, or a soldier. What do you expect me to do.” Lucas expect himself to probably make a hammer or something. There was a nice selection of metal in the area, he wouldn't need to make any. He tried it once and felt awful afterwards. It was going to be something he'd have to work on.
The redhead flinched as the gun suddenly fired, his body instinctively moving in front of Alec to defend the guy. It was almost like that time in the law offices. That kid... Alec was going to get out of this alive.

Lucas...that gorgeous redheaded man that Alec could not forget about, no matter how hard he tried. There was something special about him thay drew Alec toward him. Maybe it was the giant muscular body that never seemed to stop growing, or it could have been his slighty cocky but highly confident smile. But Alec knew it was something he liked, and in order to get his mind off those crazy events at the convention center he would continue working out to build himself up. Alec could not help but to reallg enjoy his company, despite this only being their second meeting ever.
"Long term goals? Well I want to..." No time for finishing sentences because now there was a slightly beautiful (read: absolutely sexy) woman standing there, yelping out orders and commands. Alec wasn't one to just sit there and take orders (actually he kind of was) but something about her left a bitter taste in his mouth. She wasn't making a whole lot of sense, either. The teenager didn't notice the quick movement of her coat and glimpse of the concealed weapom, but he had an idea that she was not someone he wantdd to be on bad terms with.
What happened next surprised Alec even more. Just as she pulled out her firearm, Alec wanted to run but was frozen. Instead, a giant body moved in fromt of him to protect him. He was close now, making sure that she would not harm him. It was confusing at first...she did not point her gun at him, did she? Lucas seemed just fine too - it was likely just a warning shot. She was going to evacuate the rest of the building...but why did she need thdm two? Alec could not fathm having anything valuanle that she might want, so what was the point of just keeping them here?
He was proud of Lucas for standing up for him during the gunshot and the midget comment, but he had some questioms of his own that he wanted answered. "Civillians? Are we not civillians also? And what the hell is IT? You make it sound like it isnt human." And just like that, he regretted saying anything. Memories of the deathly concert event arose, sending frigid shivers down his spine. That was the last thing he wanted to remember...Now he just hoped that this wasnt another one of those crazy monster things.

She watched, satisfied, as the crowds dispersed, turning back to the two, smirk curling her lips as she looked at them. She supposed this was a good as a time as any to evaluate the soul from the past to see if he had any risky personality attributes – she may have been the more lenient of the leaders when it came to controlling those with powers, but she was still logical about it. Better to assess the danger and stomp it out if it was too great before it became too powerful for them to handle. She vividly remembered reading many stories about just such occurrences in the past. The fact the first thing the redhead had done was hit on her was vaguely amusing, but too bad for him, she didn't fraternize with people she could potentially have to kill. Regardless, she could bite back.
“Show me yours big boy, I bet mine is bigger.” she said, hip cocked to the side as she held her handgun out to be seen by said redhead. 'Earth kingdom if memory serves.' she decided, which was confirmed by the feed in her ear. Either that or the thing that was here was...shit. 'That would explain why my readings are off the charts. she mused, expression flashing into a grim frown for a brief moment as her eyes scanned the area. There was no sign of activity yet, but it was definitely still there. 'It's waiting for something.' That was never good. However she was distracted by the smaller boy's reaction, which was hilariously muffled by being between the wall of a man and the actual wall, but she could hear it anyway. Oh, denial, it was sweet.
“You know, I'd expect you to be able to figure that out, considering what happened at the Anaheim Center, but I suppose not everyone accepts some things too well. I've seen some amusing fabricated stories of excuse why someone was spitting fire once. It was quite a show.” she responded, her attention all around even as she spoke. Still no signs. It worried her. “So no, you're not civilians. Weather you like it or not you're a part of this nasty little cycle. Sadly there's no proper democracy on who gets picked, so you can't just say 'well, I quit' and all the shit stop happening. Trust me, I've tried.” And oh boy, had she. Now, the bitterness was gone – especially seeing the destruction of the current times, and knowing she could do something about it. She turned her dark eyes back up to the musclehead, one eyebrow raised in a skeptical expression.
“Now I don't wanna hear anything from you about not thinking there's nothing going on because there's so many stinking piles of bullshit in that I won't even know where to start. Now, do you two pussies want help, or would you rather I leave you with the big nasty that I guarantee you is still around here” she asked, expression annoyed. She didn't have time to explain to the skeptics. For that matter she needed to move them out of here – she had no idea what this thing's abilities were yet, but if they weren't careful it would collapse the building. 'Unless it wants them alive...'
'Shit.' It seemed likely. Why else would it be waiting. Though 'alive' didn't mean 'in one piece', to be perfectly fair, so she couldn't expect this to be easy. And she, of course, would be an 'expendable'. The younger one may be, as well, but she was unsure. 'If he is and that idiot keeps protecting him, he'll end up dead instead. Well at least Gio would shut up and be happy for a bit.' That ass.

Lucas' stance never relaxed as he held himself in front of Alec, his muscle tensed like a leopards, ready to pounce and attack. He wasn't liking this woman, and the fact that she called him small. Granted, if she saw other men of her own skin colour, he wasn't the biggest. ”I'm willing to bet I'm more then you could handle.” This wasn't really the time, but Lucas honestly wondered which side of the family his lower midsection came from. He cocked his head slightly to hear Alec a little better, smiling as he heard the boy was unfazed so far.
Lucas was about to comment on the civilian thing, when he remembered he was suddenly a lot stronger then he used to be, over night even. And there was the fact that he could control metal. Not many people could do that with their minds. ”Nasty... cycle...? What the hell happened at he Anaheim Centre, Alec?” he growled, curious to know if he wasn't the only one who was this far in. He hadn't heard from Rayna or the Dragon Boy in a while and assumed they had died.
”I got over trying to tell myself nothing was going on a while ago. I tried to stop a few of these things before, managed to get out alive but i know how much shit we are in.” Lucas was a top dog, and alpha male. He like to lead the pack and tell others what to do, but this time he knew the lady would know best what to do. She spoke like someone who had fought before, and she knew about the monsters.
”What do you want me to do to ensure all three of us get out alive?” He asked, unsure of why he was putting himself in such danger, but something told him it was the small kid behind his back.

And there it was. Alec had a sinking suspicion that this was related to the incident at the convention center, but he didn't want to believe it. He wanted to just go home and wake up; it would be easy to pretend none of this ever happened. He could go back to work and save up some more money! College would start in the fall and he would pick out his first classes in a few months. His dad would be happy to let him stay at home rent-free and life would be wonderful.
Only that sort of stuff never happened. No, Alec was doomed to have the shoddiest luck possible everywhere he went. Now, this psychotic woman stood in front of him insulting the two and telling them to prepare themselves...If it was another one of those noise monster things, Alec didn't have any better way of handling it. This lady said that Alec and Lucas weren't civllians, which means there was indeed something strange going on. Both of them had been selecte, but by who? Or rather, what? Why were they caught up in all of this? What did Lucas have to do with anything? So many questions flooded the raven-haired teen's mind, all clouding his senses and sending him into a state of confusion.
Lucas spoke up then, asking Alec about the center. "Well, if you want to know the truth, there was some ugly beast-thing that made people bleed from their ears with some sound it made. And then holograms came to life and almost killed me. They got another kid...." He hated admitting that out loud because it brought back terrible memories of that event. Luckily there was too much going on right now to focus on that story - they had something coming their way, and by the sound of things, it probably wasn't friendly.
Finally he gave in. She wasn't out to kill them it seemed (though on the outside it might have appeared that way) so the only thing they could do was to stand their ground. If it was after Lucas or himself, then there would be no escaping until it was dead. Lucas's speech went unheard as Alec tried to prepare himself for the unknown. He was dressed in a way that allowed him to move quickly, which was good, but the only thing he had to defend himself with was this knife. It was a good thing, too, because he debated bringing it to the gym. Though it probably wouldn't do all that much good. Turning to the pretty, wackjob of a lady and then to the handsome, muscular ginger, Alec found the courage to join in.
"Yeah if I can help let me know. I...don't have a clue what to do, though." Lucas was still standing his ground, which made Alec feel much better. He had protection from the man and it took all he could do not to throw his arms around him - just in case it was their last time together.

“Oh you have no idea how far this goes, but I'm certainly not going to be the one to tell you.” 'For one, you're the technical enemy, even if you don't even realize it. For two, even if you weren't that's more classified than the First Lady's underwear drawer.' There was literal hours worth in explanations and stories the society had compiled that she knew, and hell if she was telling them. She didn't want to nor was allowed to. She didn't envy them but too damn bad – shit happened, stop wibbling, grow a pair, and deal with it. From the reactions though she was apparently dealing with a pair of sensitive women who may as well be discussing how tender their tits were during PMS – well, at least the redhead seemed a bit less tender. Ugh. Newbies.
The other one came around eventually and started to talk about what happened at the convention center. She suspected a normal person would have felt bad at the 'almost killed me' part. She wasn't normal. Death stalked her like a creepy old perv. “Look, this ain't a feelings sharing circle, we got more important shit to do.” To be fair she only knew vague details so the clarification was nice, but she wanted to give them the 'my organization sees all, so behave your ass' vibe. It would be helpful in making them listen. When they were finally done holding hands and sharing stories and decided it was time for action, it took a fair bit of her self restraint to not say 'finally'. When she was asked what she wanted them to do, she scoffed a little. She'd tell them what to do, definitely, but she was blind as they were right now.
“If I knew that I'dve done it by now. Not even sure why its still so quiet, because trust me...it's still here.” she responded, and her tone told her unease at the situation. She paused, seeming to think, listing to the numbers rambled off from her earpiece that told her its approximate position (well, where the energy was strongest), but it didn't help her – that spot was a good ten to fifteen feet under their feet, and the interference the redhead kept causing didn't help. At that moment, however, there was an odd groan that seemed to encompass the whole building, and one of the windows nearby cracked dramatically. Well. That was a clear message. It was to her, anyway. 'Come out and play or the building just might settle.'
“I officially don't trust being under a ceiling right now. Outside.” she said abruptly, and without even waiting for a response she moved to shove her palm against the mobile brick wall, making sure to put a bit of that military-grown muscle into it in case he attempted to fight it. She hoped the cars were gone. Fuck if this thing did anything to her car she'd flip. She paused, wondered if she should give either of them a weapon, then decided against it for the moment – she couldn't trust the one with powers, and the other would likely defend him, from the looks of things. Sure she'd have no issue disabling the squirt but the less resistance the better.
Out the door and into the parking lot, Arcturus made a point to move far away from the building, not trusting the walls to not be used as a weapon. Her eyes swept everywhere, but she saw no movement, nothing odd, but the numbers screaming in her ear didn't lie – the power source was swelling, and it was indeed beneath them. 'We have to get it up here.' No 'why' no 'how' – do it. She didn't are how, do it. “Fucker's hiding underground.” she mumbled, not caring if the other two heard – was more for herself.
Meanwhile, the force she insulted was curling itself gleefully around every vein it could find, seeping into everything that was green and living, breathing itself into the roots, waiting. It wanted the son of the Earth kingdom. It was told he was important – but the others were expendable. And the woman – it didn't know who she was, but it felt a whisper, a reminder of an annoyance to her creator. The woman was too calm, too accustomed, too prepared. She was one of the annoyances. She was one of the ones that took away the tools. That was easily dealt with. Slowly, carefully, it began to work on engulfing the various trees scattered around that were meant for 'decoration' – they would certainly do more than look pretty soon.

Lucas didn't like this. The bossy lady wasn't saying much about what was going on, but she definitely knew more then she was letting on. The big man tensed further, his hand brushing against his shirt just over the rune he bore. He shivered as he felt the energy in his body shift accordingly. He could make what he needed if he had to. But there was still a bit of time.
”I'll need a weapon.” He growled, walking away from Alec something he wanted to avoid doing for some time. He didnt even want Alec to know he could do this, but it was do or die. Thankfully the dead-lift set wasn't too far away from the entrance. He grabbed the bar, and quickly removed the weights from one end, making a rather impromptu hammer. He touched the rune on his hip and ran his hand along the barbell. The weighs as the end shivered like a calm pond in the rain. He closed his eyes, clearing his mind, and thought of the weapon he wanted. He had no idea idea how effective it would be, but it would be a start. With a slight grunt he opened his eyes, looking for at the hammer he now held. It was quite heavy, but would be a formidable weapon, especially in his massive arms. ”This will work for now.”
Lucas looked at Alec, almost shamefully, as if he had done something wrong. He head snapped up as the windows cracked, once against tensing himself, holding the hammer at the ready. ”Last place I want to be is inside anyways.” He added as he moved towards the door, looking back to check on Alec. He followed behind the woman closely, keeping an ear open for Alec however.
As soon as Lucas slowed and began looking around he shivered. The earth was crying once more, louder now then it was earlier. He looked down beneath his feet and growled. What ever this thing was, and what ever it was doing, was cause serious pain to the earth. ”Bastard...” he whispered to himself, if it was something that would ease the world suffering, then it would be a joy to destroy. He drove his hammer into the ground, testing it's durability. The cracks in the asphalt were a good sign he was in a good condition to fight. “Bring it on!” he screamed to no one in particular.

Alec was officially going crazy.
This...this woman, person, thing (whatever she was) was not in Alec's good graces. He certainly didn't like her attitude, but the last thing he wanted to do was to step on her toes. He didn't know exactly what was going on, but he knew it wasn't good. And it was likely some sort of monster thing that was going to try and eat him alive. Or kill him. He had come to the realization that his life was somewhat important; otherwise these fantastical entities wouldn't be targeted himself.
But then a thought occured. Maybe it wasn't here for him...perhaps it was here for Lucas. The man moved and picked up a weight and the bar attached to it. Curious, the boy looked over at the man and watched him shape the metal into what appeared to be a giant hammer. In any other circumstance, this would have been beyond cool, but the fact that his new "friend" just changed the weight's shape without much effort left a strong impression on him. Almost speechless, Alec managed to speak, but his words were almost inaudaible. "Y-you too...? What's going on here..."
And then, his body moved. Alec's head was elsewhere, but his body carried him outside with the rest of the group. He wanted to latch onto Lucas and stay beside the man, but something told him that probably wouldn't be a good idea. The last thing he wanted was to cause a scene, but whenever this thing appeared everyone would forget about the display of affection and immediately feast their eyes upon something horrific. In Alec's mind, he imagined a towering beast complete with razor-sharp claws and canines to match. The anticipation was killing him; the wait seemed like it was taking forever, despite the fact that it had only been mere seconds.
He tried to speak, but his head was swarming with so many different questions right now. Nothing he could say would be of any use, anyway. For now, he stuck close by Lucas and hoped that whatever came their way would go down easily. He was tired of seeing these horrors. The musclehead was ready, pounding his hammer into the now-cracked asphalt. No doubt he was powerful, showing his display of strength to the crowd (who wasn't paying any attention). But Alec wondered...if this was some sort of monster, would Lucas and this mysterious woman be enough to stop it?

She was too busy focusing on the immediate area to notice it happening at first. Too busy checking her gun to see if all she had left was normal bullets (which was followed by an annoyed sound when she found that yes, all that was left were normal bullets), too busy double checking her information feed for any more details to see just how far underneath the concentrated energy was. The only alert she had before it happened was an ominous creaking noise, followed by a thundering crack, and as she turned, one of the larger trees near the paved entrance into the parking lot fell, almost in slow motion, carefully over the path that led back onto the highway. She supposed to some, it wouldn't seem that threatening – dramatic, yes, but not threatening.
It was a pretty clear message to her though. There were trees lining most the street and scattered around – leaving the area wasn't a big option. Add in the fact of how far their roots spread out and well, talk about being surrounded by a wall. Immediately, she reached for the tags laced around her neck, pulling them over her head abruptly and into her hand, wrapping the metal chain around her wrist, pressing and carefully holding the tags in her palm. She knew the center of its power was too far to properly disable it, but better safe than sorry. She swung around, eyes sweeping, not missing the subtle sways in the tree branches that were just a bit more exaggerated than considered natural.
“C'mon you glorified tree fairy, I ain't got all day.” she grumbled, hating when something decided to toy with her and she had no idea how to pinpoint where it would come from first. Apparently egging it on worked, though, as a few small, but resounding cracks came from the felled tree a few moments after she said it, vague movement among the branches matching the sounds, but she was unable to tell what it was doing at first. Her eyes turned to the two boys for a brief moment, making sure they weren't being amused while she was distracted, and turned her gaze back to the sounds just as there was a flurry of movement.
It had taken a fancy to the term 'tree fairy', it supposed. Or perhaps it simply wanted to mock that woman for calling it such. Or maybe it was even because of the mental anguish it knew it would cause its target – attached to the plantlife as it was, it wasn't sympathetic to its pawns – sacrifices were necessary, and it had no qualms with the tree it had used as a warning. It did not, however, waste resources, and had reached through the remaining root ties to the still dying tree, pulling and tugging at branches, weaving them together in an image that matched what the dark-skinned woman had called it. It gathered a large portion of its energy and sent it forth to the entity, causing the flurry of leaves and branches that followed in the abrupt final formation as the power transferred and settled into the new space.
The tree had been salvaged of many of its branches, save for the largest, to form a twisted variant of the human form – muscle structure and bone imitated by the limbs, strung tight together in a disturbingly accurate way, two gaps left in the 'skull' slowly filled with a brilliant yellow glow to imitate eyes, even the smaller branches and leaves wove carefully to imitate hair, obviously emulating a more feminine figure. After all, that woman had called it a fairy, were those typically not female? It certainly hoped they appreciated its efforts to fulfill their image of it. Too bad for them, it was nothing truly as tangible as this form – but it would do for now.
As soon as the figure appeared, a shot rang across the parking lot, the source coming from the smoking handgun of the ex-military, hard expression set on the elemental. The energy had moved to that thing. Idiot. It had been safer underground. Unfortunately, the shot did nothing – well, it made a small, scorched hole in the wood that covered its chest, but little else. 'Right, gun is useless then.' Arcturus decided absently, holstering said weapon before she ripped her large overcoat off, leaving her on her more mobile tank top and cargo pants, grabbing the large knife out of its sheath from her waist in the same movement.
While she did this, the pavement all around them began to slowly crack, and the entity had set itself by the base of the fallen tree, one arm raised as it stretched its power out. In idle retaliation for the hole in its chest, it caused one of the roots it was coaxing along to break through the pavement almost directly under Arcturus, causing the woman to stumble back. Before she could make a proper swing at it, though, the appendage made for the youngest of the group – the deadweight, the kid. Riffraff first it sang to itself, deciding all these unnecessary witnesses were far too much a bother, aiming the pointed end to lunge towards Alec.

Lucas smiled weakly at Alec, certain the kid was now scared shitless of him, after all, he just performed a miracle. ”I uh... I'll tell you later, kay?” he said in to Alec. An ear shattering scream echoed in Lucas' mind as he watched the tree fall over the high way. The pitch and volume made his ears ring and gave him the strong urge to curl up onto the ground and throw up for a moment, in the hopes that it might relieve the pain. He used his hammer to steady himself, taking a deep breath to clear his mind, focusing on Alec. Slowly the crying faded from and his mind cleared, he needed it to be as clean as possible.
He stared at the tree as the energy, what ever it was, twisted and warped the image. Lucas' hand tightened on the hammer, his knuckled turning white. ”Bastard!” he screamed towards the humanoid figure. This was abuse, and Lucas was going to repay it in full. ”I'm sorry...” he whispered towards the earth and it's spirit. The tree was going to have to be destroyed.
As he heard the gun shot he turned his head to the source, staring at the woman and blinking for a moment. She was insane wasn't she? ”It's made of fucking wood! He shouted, just as she pulled out a knife. He scoffed. A saw of an axe would have been a better option. Lucas looked down at his hammer and paused. It wasn't a cutting tool, but it should be strong enough to break a tree branch. He'd have a chance to find out.
Just as the woman fell, Lucas noticed the very branch that tripped her lunge towards the kid, Alec. He swore loudly to himself and threw himself forwards, raising his hammer over his head. He brought it down with all his might, hoping he'd hit the branch, crushing it like an ant.

So the crazy woman had now tried to shoot whatever the heck that weird tree-like monster was. And it didn't work. Well I could have told her that...Nothing normal seems to work on these things. He was a bit jumpy, moving nervously in his spot and hoping that there was something he could do to get out of this situation alive. No, he was not very good with fighting monsters or anything, but he would give it a try. After all, he had been lucky so far. Those holographic things didn't even harm him, really, though the mental damage was still there. But right now he had to focus on whatever that thing was because it wasn't going to be too friendly.
And then everything happened at once.
The loud sound of a tree cracking sent shivers down his spine. He glanced around and didn't see a tree or anything falling, but instead a large tree-root looking object heading his way. He tried to move, but his legs had failed him; there wasn't enough time. He was going to be taken under by this thing and probably eaten or something. But that was when Lucas sprang into action and attempted to sink his hammer into the concrete, hoping to stop the root. The teen's attention snapped and he immediately jumped to the right, hitting the ground and rolling before coming to a stop near one of the observers. He attempted to get up but the older man kicked him, pushing him back toward the cause of the commotion. "If that thing's after you, son, then it can have you! Just get it away from me!"
Bruised and in pain, Alec scrambled to his feet and stayed back away from Lucas and the spot where he had sunk his weapon into the ground. He wasn't keen on getting too close to him for fear that it would come after both of them at once. At least this way, if it had gotten ahold of Lucas, he could rush in after him and try to help. The woman was also here, supposedly to help (or at least that's what he assumed).

“You'd be surprised what can be injured by bullets, meathead.” she had commented, palming her knife as she spoke. “If it's solid, it's worth a try. Though all I have left are normal bullets, which are sorta less effective.” Her last run-in about two weeks ago had seen the use of the last of her enchanted bullets, which left her with clever tactics and a neutralizer, more or less. She'd faced worse odds – after all, she also had a guy that could create weapons by thinking about it real hard, apparently, she could just point him in a direction and say 'smash that'. Way better than bullets.
However, before she could implement this tactic she was cut off by the attack from beneath her. There was a still moment when she attempted to scramble to retaliate, saw the direction the attack was sent in, but before she could even lift her knife there was a sickening crunch that was eerily similar to the sound of someone's limb being snapped as the hammer held by said human battering ram connected with the branch. There was a strange, muted wail, the thick root twitched a few times, as if fighting for the momentum it had, and then fell still. Arcturus took half a second to breath, dark eyes sweeping over the offending appendage, to the kid it was about to kill, before finally resting on the redhead that had managed to stop it. She gave him a tight nod, the closest thing he would get to approval, before she was abruptly reminded of the situation at hand.
'Energy reading at eight 'o clock, spike level seven. Energy reading at eleven 'o clock, spike level five.' the cool voice on her ear read off, and she immediately lurched to her feet, eyes fixated on the points. There was no sign of anything there, but there were...trees in those exact spots. They weren't extremely high level readings – the highest energy spike reading her interface could pick up was a fifteen – but they were high enough to warrant attention.
The entity paused when it saw the reaction of the society woman to its recent action, surprised to find that the woman was able to predict anything. She had to have something that allowed her to sense its presence...but that didn't seem entirely right. It sensed nothing extraordinary about this woman, she had no abilities...she should not be able to predict anything. She is a danger it decided, and fixated its attention on her. It would be unable to touch the child of the earth kingdom so long as this woman was here – even if the woman herself had o abilities, she could tell him where to expect the next attack.
Arcturus' eyes narrowed, but when nothing happened after a few moments, she gave up, fixing her gaze back on the expressionless face of the humanoid tree...thing. She was met with a tilted head, and before the next attack came, she pointed in the direction of the two energy readings that continued to stagnate where those trees were. “Small fry, keep your eye between those spots over there, it's planning something, yell if something happens. Dumbbell, in case it wasn't obvious, attempt to smash the tree person into tin-” and with a loud crack in the pavement the entity surge its energy at once, pushing two limbs forth, one near the redhead to distract him, and the other nicely interrupting the society woman as it made to grab her ankle.
NOTE: Debated having more happen, but left the outcome to you guys.

“Trees aren't flesh and blood! They don't hurt the same way.” He said, feeling like an idiot for even having to explain that basic fact. He turned his attention back to Alec, his momentum falling from the attacking. He was glad to see Alec was going to try and get away, until some bystander pushed him back into the fray. To them, was this just a cock fight? Something to watch and gawk at!? Were they just another cheap source of entertainment!? No wonder the earth cried so much. Lucas wanted so badly to rush over to Alec, and help him up, but he couldn't. Not when they were under attack.
He gripped his hammer tightly, carefully staring down the tree man. It had to go, he knew and so did the lady. So as soon as she gave him the word, he was off. Dashing forward and swinging the hammer down from above his head with all the strength he could muster. It's life has to end.
