WORDS: 839 TAG: Naomi DATED: April 17th, Around 4pm.
“I don't get why you have to go. You've been busy for two weeks now, I had a stack of movies for us and everything.”
“You wanted to spend the weekend at your friend's don't blame me for that. I was here all Saturday.”
“I bet you slept all day. But why do you have to go tonight it's Tuesday that's not an important day right?”
“Since when are you my schedule master? It doesn't matter if it's and important day or not, I didn't get to go out with my friends last week.”
“Well 'don't blame me for that.'”
“Don't sass me.”
“Ugh. It's the middle of the week make them wait.”
“No.”
“Why? And why are you dressed like that anyway, isn't that a little casual for your outings?”
“Oh for f- I'm going on a date. There, are you happy? Go away.”
He'd been hoping that would appease his adopted daughter, but no it just made it worse. As soon as he'd admitted going on a date, the old line of questioning turned into 'Is she pretty? What's her name? How did you meet her? What are you two going to do? Is this the first date or did I miss the first one Mr “Busy”? Does anyone else know? Do I get to meet her? When do I get to meet her then? Why can't I meet her yet? Why would that be jumping the gun?' Obviously, he got sick of answering the questions near the end and was trying to subtly tell her to go away while he made sure he had everything he needed. His answers had all been short, sweet yes, nos, or non-committal grunts to annoy her. After a while, the ridiculously nosy 7-year-old left Ryeson to his pre-date ritual – which by then, there hadn't been much left beyond grabbing his wallet and his car keys.
There was an order given to Hannah to spend her afternoon with the next door neighbor Mrs. Barston and a phone call to Naomi to let her know he was on the way, and soon enough he was in his Durango and on his way to the address she had instructed him to – which was apparently her friend's house. He'd offered to pick her up and she claimed to be staying at her friend's until her place was fumigated, so he'd offered to pick her up there – it was a good fifteen minute drive, if his estimation was correct, so he'd made sure to warn Naomi it would take him a bit. He actually managed it in about ten, due to a surprisingly lack in traffic.
The blonde found and drove slowly down the street which was lined with parked cars on either side, carefully counting the addresses on the mailboxes. When finally found it, he was happy to find it had a nice little driveway that was just wide enough to fit his SUV and didn't bother to be concerned about blocking the other car as he would be leaving in under 5 minutes, if he could help it. He checked his hair before he got out of the car, which sadly there was little else it could look like than mildly tamed bedhead, but it was deemed passable before he hopped out and made for the porch, ringing the doorbell, which was instantly met with a chorus of ear-splitting yip yip yip yip. promising...really. He avoided cringing.
There was the sounds of a fight on the other side of the door that was obviously the owner attempting to reign in her dogs (Ryeson didn't want to call them dogs in his mind...they were rats who could bark...he loved dogs, but he wasn't fond of the little ones) before the front door finally cracked open and he was met with a peering female face that was definitely nor Naomi. Despite this, he put on a winning smile. “Is there a Naomi Irving here? I'm here to pick her up.” he inquired, double checking he had the right house first. He was met with a knowing smirk and a “So, you're him. She's getting ready – come on in.”
He followed her into a small entrance way which held a few chairs and tables that were obviously for display, but was led to the next room over which held the more typical couched and looked more lived in. The woman motioned for him to sit and told him to make himself comfortable while he waited and that she would be back in a minute. As soon as he sat he was met with a tiny puffball of excitement in his lap, which caused him to raise his eyebrows and attempt to lean away from the dog. This was met with the Pomeranian leaning closer to him, and reluctantly, he patted the thing on the head. This, luckily, seemed to be what it wanted. It was still a rat that barked, though...but giving it attention was as good a distraction as any.

Nothing was ever easy, she had known that picking to go over her friend's house was a bad idea, and yet it was better then being at her own place. She wasn't ashamed per say, but Naomi was not about to have her first date ruined because her date was scared to get out of his car. Naomi has dated rich before, though those relationships never lasted long. Now did she know how rich her date was? Nope, but she had noticed the people he associated with and the nice clothes he wore. She was trying her best to get ready, but the questions were getting painful. At first they had been simple, what is his name, how old, was he cute. Yet with each brush stroke she got deeper in the hell of questions. "So why are you making him pick you up here?" That was it, Naomi was so done with the question game. She used the hair brush to point at the door. "Out!" "But what about my question." "School was closer to your place ok? Now get out, I need to change.""Fine, miss grumpy." She did not relax her hand until she heard the door close, with a deep breath she sighed. She loved Richard and Gina dearly, but they were the worse when it came to shutting up. Speaking of the blue mohawk a knock was at the door, followed by the young man poking his head in. "Mom wanted to know if you were coming back after your date, or going home?" Oh now that was a good question, she had told Ryeson that the reason she was not at her place was because it was being sprayed. Only now did she realize that he would probably was to drive her home as well. "Yea, if you guys wouldn't mind." She gave that 'I'm sorry to be asking look.' Which was answered by a laugh from the seventeen year old. "Nao, you know mom owes your her life, and Gina was hoping you would be sticking around. She might be 21, that famous partying age, but she rather spend time studying with you. I know you'll be tired, but she'll be dragging you to school early either way." Naomi couldn't help but shake her head, "Mattering on how this date goes I may or may not want to go to school." It was better to be safe then sorry. "No problem we have ice cream in the fridge." She made a motion for him to leave the room so that she could finish getting ready. Richard nodded and closed the door, he had to help mom with dinner anyways. While Naomi got ready she heard the sound of the bell and started to panic. She glanced at the clock and huffed loudly to herself. 'What man comes to pick up his date, not on time, but early?!?' She made a mad dash around the room, putting on the clothes she had picked out for today. The date was meant to be on the fun side so she went with something simple, and no heels. Once she was ready she started to double check that everything was just right, her hair, oh man her hair, had been the worse part of her battle. Knock, knock, "Naomi, your date is here, hurry before my brother gets to him first." All that escape from Naomi's mouth was an "Oh shit."Downstairs, while Naomi was battling her make up, a different kind of battle was about to unfold. Richard, otherwise known as Shark, made his way into the living room and took a seat across from Ryeson. He said nothing, only crossing his arms and staring. What he had not expected was Ryeson's reaction. The young man smiled and spoke. "Your not bad, keep her safe alright man? She means a lot to us." Just then Naomi appeared behind the couch Ryeson was sitting on. "What are you two up to?" Shark shrugged and jumped up from his seat, "Oh nothing, though mom wanted me to tell you that if you guys want instead of going out, you two could stay for dinner?" With that said Naomi was ready to book it, "No, I think we are good, everyone say bye to Ryeson." She the motion for Ryeson to hurry to the door before they were trapped forever. Outfit: Click

He did well to distract himself petting the dog while he waited, and it happily rolled in his lap, lavishing in the attention. However, his motion paused when the familiar blue hair showed up and sat on the couch across from him, and of all things, tried to stare him down. Ryeson had to resist from laughing. He'd been in a huge meeting room full of ruthless, hardass, stuck up businessmen all sizing him up and judging him because he was the future of Savage International and the impression he made on them would make or break their relationship with the company – and he'd come out with only a small inner panic attack during it. This. Was. Nothing. To prove his point, the blonde shot the kid a grin, easygoing and confident as you please.
He made no response to the kid when he gave him his 'approval', but he didn't have a huge chance to, anyway – the sound of Naomi came a second later and chased the other man off, and Ryeson carefully picked the Pomeranian up off his lap and set it on the floor before standing up, where it proceeded to spin with excitement before darting off now that it couldn't properly bother the blonde for pets – considering he was a couple inches over six feet, there was a large gap between where the dog was and his hands and torso were. He turned to face his date, smile still in place, but before he could even say anything the kid immediately answered her question, and the blonde was left to watch the brief exchange.
He tilted his head at Naomi at her desperate show to get out of the house, but followed suit anyway, waving to her friend's family and giving them a farewell, not questioning it as he could see himself doing something similar regarding his own mother. He loved her to bits but when it came to her and any women he brought home...oh lord. Yeah it wasn't a fun combo. He followed Naomi out of the house and closed the door carefully behind him, making sure a particular puffball didn't try and come along with them. His phone beeped right as he hit the bottom stair of the porch, and he pulled it out briefly to see a text message from his adopted daughter, which he promptly ignored and shoved the phone back into his pocket before he made a beeline for his car.
Into the drivers seat and his date was in soon after, and he took a moment to breathe, hands rested on the sheering wheel as he looked over at the brunette in the passenger’s side. “You look nice by the way. It's nice to be able to get in a response finally.” he commented, seeming to deflate in relief now that he wasn't awkwardly sat in a stranger's living room with their barking rat in his lap. “So was I the only one who got drilled for information or did you get it too? Like it was a miracle I got a date or something – thank you family, your confidence is overwhelming.”

Words: 503 Tags: Ryeson Note: First dates are always awkward.
Richard couldn't hide the smirk he had on his face as he followed the two to the door. He shook his head debating if he should let his mom know that Naomi ran away without showing off her new boyfriend. Though to be fair he could understand why, his mother was a loving women, but she would have grilled the guy for the whole night on what his intentions were.
The young man made sure to lock the door once Ryeson closed it behind him. He had a feeling he's be playing the role of the protective brother and would not be sleeping till Naomi came back home. The pair walked over to the car and Naomi took a moment to eye Ryeson's car. It was not what she was expecting, but she was happy to be surprised. She opened the door and took care in getting in. She sat her bag on her lap and closed the door. She watched Ryeson fiddle with his phone and was only a little curious in who might be bothering him. In the end she guessed it wasn't anything important since he did not make much of an effort to reply.
She could feel a light blush fall over her cheeks, it had been a while since she got a complement. Well at least one that felt real, she smiled and messed around with getting her seat-belt on. "Thank you, and sorry again for, whatever that was."
She felt bad since she had no clue what her friends might have said or done to Ryeson while she was busy getting ready. The most that she could hope for, was that whatever they did would not affect Ryeson in anyway. She pulled down the overhead mirror for a second to double check that her hair was still the way she had left it. As she did this she couldn't help but laugh. So he had gotten the game of twenty questions as well? Naomi felt better that at least she had not been the only one.
"I had a few friend problems, my best friend is already demanding to meet you, and you've seen my other friends. They already want to have your over for dinner. Luckily I've been pretty good at keeping any answers in a yes and no path, not easy though." She pushed some hair back over her ear and flipped the overhead mirror back in place.
"So, how bad is it for you? Am I invited to some kind of family dinner already?" She laughed, of all the silly things to say. She shook her head, she wouldn't mind meeting his family, they couldn't be any worse then her's right? She watched the road and realized that she still had no clue in what this date had in store.
"So, when are you going to tell me what you have planned for us today?" She wasn't sure if she was going to get anything out of him, but it didn't hurt to try.

Oh good, so it wasn't just him then. It was ridiculous – like the world had given up on him after the Reina episode when in reality he'd been legitimately waiting until after school so no drama interfered with his work. Yeah...so much for that plan. He wanted to say Naomi seemed much more sane than his last venture into dating...but they all started normal. Hey he had a reason to be pessimistic – his almost-wife had been seriously unbalanced and he'd debating calling an asylum for her. When she questioned him about a family dinner, he snickered a bit, shaking his head. 'No but I think my kid was on the verge of asking if she could have a mom for her birthday...' “Hah...no luckily but I make no promises for once my mother finds out.” he wasn't going to elaborate on that one but the way his mother always hinted about grandbabies...oh yes, she wanted Ryeson to have a girlfriend. “Though as my parents live about three or four hours north I think we're safe for a little bit at least.”
He started the car and backed out of the driveway as he spoke, leaving behind the overly curious friends and the barking rats, and when he was pressed for information about where they were going, he was quiet for a moment, remembering briefly the conversation he'd had with her the other day in which he'd made her pick something fun or something traditional – and yes it had been that word for word – so when she picked fun he'd had to try and find something that wasn't terribly childish but still amusing. He'd only half succeeded – he knew the laser tag place would probably be full of kids but it was still amusing.
“Hmm...no, but you can get a hint...of sorta. I hope you have good aim.” he replied, not turning his eyes from the road but his impish expression showed for a brief second. Hey, she'd picked fun – so he'd rolled with a large laser tag course he'd taken Hannah to a few times before with her friends. With having friends who dragged him into things like paintball as well as occasionally going with Hannah on this very course, he knew he had some practice. He hoped Naomi had a passable aiming skill – or else they were going to get their asses handed to them by teenagers. Luckily they would be able to pick their own teams – the last thing he wanted on a first date would be to be pitted against said date.
There was another ten to fifteen minute drive filled with idle chatter here and there as the blonde drove the both of them back around the thick of downtown, weaving down the crowded streets before finally turning off into a huge complex that boasted an arcade, skating rink, and of course the laser tag. Each had their own separate section of the long building, and he moved to park on the farthest right side, managing to get a spot near the entrance, where a few kids were drifting through the automatic doors into the low light of the complex.

"Your mother huh?" She couldn't help but sound interested at the fact that Ryeson had already hinted that he would be fine sharing that he was dating Naomi. She did not like to put herself down, but most of the 'good' guys had a problem telling mom and dad that they were dating her. It was only because one of the first question a parent ever asked was, 'So what does she do?' and to be honest Naomi could not blame them for feeling off about the answer.
She still had to wonder what Ryeson thought about her life choice, they had talked bits and pieces about it. Though she never told him the whole truth, all Rye would know was that it was a good paying job, and was the only one she could get that would help her with her college bills. "Safe or not, I promise not to embarrass you, since you did so well with my 'almost family' "
She smiled at him as she relaxed in her seat and watched the street signs fly by, she really needed to get a real car license, since the only thing she had now allowed her to drive her moped, cars were beyond her understanding. Well, it didn't help that the last time she drove a car she was not in the right of mind and drove it into a lake so 'it could get clean.'
"Good aim? That hint could mean anything." No really it could, Naomi only took a second to decide that it was not worth guessing. She liked knowing things, but if it was going to take the rest of the car ride to guess, she was sure that she could wait a little longer. So she did, they spent the rest of the ride talking about random topics, just passing the time until Ryeson finally pulled up to the place their date would take place.
"Now I see, aim, got you. Guessing would have taken forever, this should be fun." She grabbed her bag and opened the car door, stepped out and waited for Ryeson. "Now I am happy that I kept from wearing heels"

He gave her a mental point for not making a comment about his choice being 'childish', though. That had happened once – that had been before he realized a lot of the women who liked to sweet talk him were after his money, and he'd taken one of them to a local fair, to be met with lots of jokes that were more derivative than good-natured about how he was just like a cute little five year old. He'd said nothing but had mentally countered all the jabs with lots of colorful ways of saying she had zero sense of fun or humor. At the end of the day he'd actually told her that, unable to restrain his brain-to-mouth filter anymore, before leaving and never talking to her again.
An image that struck him when she made her comment about be glad about having worn comfortable shoes caused him to choke down a snicker, but he couldn't resist giving her an amused look, eyebrows raised. “Not gonna lie, it would have been hilarious if you had. Though more for the aspect that I could make jokes about you looking like a Bond girl rather than you falling on your face or anything. For some reason I don't see heels slowing down your effectiveness.” 'Well, when you work in them constantly that sort of makes sense.' It was a genuine enough assumption, really – unless the layout for the obstacles were really outrageous (which was a possibility, he supposed), he couldn't see her having that many issues of movement heels or no. It wouldn't be comfortable he was sure, but the last thing he'd call Naomi from what he'd seen would be...er, graceless.
He led them to the door and in an exaggerated fashion he gestured one hand as he held the door open for her, giving her a sideways grin as he did. When he stepped in the lights were lower than outside, and it took a moment for his eyes to adjust – when they did he found the room filled with low chatter tables, and the smell of food that definitely wasn't good for your health. You know, the best kind. He managed a quick glance around, and beyond the small food court they'd entered to were what definitely looked like the doorways that led to the arenas for the laser tag, if the numerous people clustered around the five doors said anything.
It took some effort to ignore the food smells and he gestured to the doors as he came to stand next to Naomi, noting the people standing there. “Well, I feel significantly out of place.” he commented, though his tone said he obviously wasn't that bothered by the fact the crowd mostly consisted of kids ranging anywhere from seven to seventeen, with the occasional adults that appeared to be parents, and maybe one[/ group of three that appeared to be around his age. Okay, so maybe, sometimes, he was kind of like a big five year old – but was it a bad quality? He didn't really think so...he couldn't be bothered to take life as seriously as others.
“Oh joy looks like we get to wait for a bit. May as well go get our tickets now.” he suggested, hoping the arena was big enough to hold most the crowd that was here...or else this would be an extremely failed date.

"You would like that, wouldn't you?" She couldn't help but comment, followed by a pose of pretending that she was holding a gun like in a spy move. "Yea, your right, I was have made an amazing Bond girl." She laughed and moved towards him, pretending to look him up and down in a judging fashion. He looked good, sadly her mind never could stay with a clean topic for long. Oh no, she couldn't help but picture him as James Bond, picking up hot women and saving the world. In fact that really was not a bad idea, she could play the damsel in distress. Even more so if Ryeson would be her knight in shining armor, a smirk played on her lips as she added out loud what she was thinking. "You know, you would make one good looking 007." She smiled and allowed him to lead the way, she was even impressed when he held the door open for her. When was the last time Naomi had dated a guy that held the door? Never.
It was funny, but every minute Naomi spent with Ryeson she was noticing more and more about him. What made things really interesting was the fact that she had been trying to find some wrong, something out of place about Ryeson. After all no man was perfect, and yet she was having a hard time with believing this all of a sudden. He was funny, nice, good looking, had manners, she was losing a battle with herself. Still there was time to get to know him, and for him to get to know her. Though that was where the worry was valid, unlike Ryeson she was not "perfect". She had her bad traits, her poor habits and she was not going to hided them because of one man. At least by the end of tonight if he asked for a second date then Naomi would really be convince that the man was a god.
They walked into the building and Naomi was met with the sound of laughter and the smell of food. Her eyes scanned the area, she couldn't help but smell as she thought about how Tequila's son would have loved to be here. Naomi made a mental note to bring the boy here one day when she had both the time and money to do so. She took a glance at the lines and nodded. Ryeson was right, the lines were not crazy, but they would still have a little wait on their hands. "Yea, a wait, but it really doesn't seems to be that bad of one." She followed him as they went to pay for their tickets, where Ryeson paid for both. Naomi was tempted to protest and pay herself, but since this was a date and he brought her here, it was only right that he paid.
They joined one of the lines and stood waiting for their turn, not having much else to do Naomi did her best to strike up a conversation. "I'm going to say it not, I haven't done anything like this in years, paintball when I was fifteen, so please excuse me if I fail poorly. " Hey, at least she could admit that things might not go smoothly, even worse there was the off chance that they might be on different teams.

The comment about his making a good 007 led to a short laugh. “Yes, I could bore the villain into a coma by telling him how social psychology is intimately tied to proper negotiation ability and how it could help in all your future PR endeavors due to being able to relate to body language and proper way to appeal to the widest audience blah blah blibbity blah...you know the same speech my academic adviser gave me. I know I dozed off.” he had responded, tone wry. To be perfectly honest, he'd been exhausted that day and trying to listen, but that had been when Hannah had been sick and he'd spent half the night taking care of her. But that explanation sort of ruined the joke made at his boring classes' expense. Complaining helped him deal with the tedium of them, really, joking or no.
He supposed, in hindsight, he should have suspected that awkward moment when neither of them had a lot to talk about. It was sort of funny – the two had talked to each other plenty before, it was just...the added knowledge of date seemed to cause a bit more stress. He had to think very carefully about his response to her statement about her lack of practice, as well – he wasn't 'out of practice', so to speak, due to the fact he had a kid who was probably doing something fun like this every other weekend, and he was dragged along so long as he had the free time to. He was still wary about talking about Hannah, for two large reasons – one, he wanted to do it properly, not just drop 'oh hey, I have a kid by the way' in the middle of a conversation, he wanted to actually introduce her to the girl. The second issue being – he wanted to see if it would even be worth the time, considering, oh yeah, first date. You didn't introduce the family on the first date.
This meant picking his words carefully – which sucked when subtlety wasn't your specialty. “I seem to have a lot of people around me that like doing this kinda crap, so I should be okay. Though I will tell ya, don't underestimate those eight year olds – they're wicked. And ruthless.” 'I should know I have one' There was a reason anytime he took Hannah to any kind of fun shooting activity he made sure they were on the same team. Adopted daughter or not Hannah would ruthlessly gun him down like a sneaky child sniper. He moved to lean against a corner of one of the walls nearby, arms crossing over his chest as he did, and the angle allowed him to realize something.
He was being watched. Avidly. He was sure it hadn't been happening for long but he noticed it now, and like a dumbass he glanced right at the young lady in question who was peeking at him around one of the teenage males she was obviously there with. He was met with a painfully awkward half-wave from the girl, and his mind made a small sound of stress as he immediately looked away from the girl. Nope. This wasn't happening now. It wasn't. He was here on a date. Please someone tell him people were polite enough to leave him alone when he was on a date. Normally he wasn't quite so rude as to blatantly ignore someone who recognized him from whatever godforsaken article his mother had railroaded him into most recently, but...you know, date. He didn't know how legitimate celebrities did it – or for that matter how some of them thrived shamelessly on it. He hated being recognized. 'At least I'm only recognized as 'oh, look, walking ATM with blonde hair and blue eyes', rather than someone expecting me to somehow be the person they play in a movie...'

Yea no, he had just lost her in all that.. there was no words for whatever that just was. "A who, what? English next time please." She giggled, half joking with him, but boy all that did sound like some grade A nonsense. Then there it was, that moment where things got quiet and the brain started to think. She had no clue what could be going though his mind, but she had her own thoughts to deal with. Some were just about random things, like was her makeup ok, or did she have any homework left to do tonight. She never once think 'oh this is weird' or wonder about what to talk about. They talked all the time, a few moment of silence was not going to mess up the whole date, or at least that was what she told herself.
"Oh I believe you, I take my best friend kid out to the arcade every now and then, if that boy had the chance to play this game he would gun me down in seconds. No remorse, young people these days." She laugh, oh wow she just noticed how much of a old lady that made her some, which was sad since she was only in her twenties. Her attention was broken when her eyes followed his, to a young girl looking right at him. Yes yes he was cute, now little one back off he's already claimed. Instead of leaving it along Naomi felt a bet of possessiveness take over, a teen or not, Naomi wanted Rye all to herself today. She looped her arm around his and leaned into him, pretending that she just wanted something to rest on as they waited. The physical contact was nice. "So this is with teams right? Not some crazy deathmatch?"

“Yeah, teams, thankfully. Do you think I would play a deathmatch against a hoard of the aforementioned ruthless child snipers? Nah, pass. I'd get kicked out for using 'naughty language in excess' anyway. Not that that wouldn't be a hilarious story, but pass.” he responded to her question, happy for the distraction from the eyes on him. Normally he could grin and bear some of the spotlight (in fact in the right circumstances he thrived in it), but not when he preferred his date not know he was advertised as one of 'America's Top Ten Bachelors' just because he was born into the family he had because god it sounded so gimmicky. Like he should be on one of those shows 'who wants to date a millionaire' and he was the millionaire...
Note to self, never give mom that idea.. Shoving that thought aside, he kept talking, doing well to ignore his...'fan'. “I'll warn you I'm not the most useful teammate, though. I came with my family here a couple months ago. Pretty sure my niece won us the match, my brother and I were just convenient distractions. Must be easier when you're not even four feet tall, I guess.” That was the most politically worded statement he'd ever made outside work. Technically, Hannah was his niece – she just doubled as an adopted daughter. Whoops he forgot to mention that part. Was it bad that he was attempting to distract himself from the awkwardly intense stare he was receiving by attempting to make himself feel guilty? Because he was. There was now two of them, the one of the girl who was obviously debating coming over to him – which, please god no – and the other was one of her male teenage friends who was giving him a hard, critical stare, branding him as either the boyfriend or the friend who wanted to be the boyfriend.
Oh. Well. That was nice.
He tried to be discreet in glancing at them to see if he'd be left alone, but apparently not enough because as soon as he settled his full focus back on Naomi oh hell here she came. The blonde stiffened, debated running for half a second (before logic kicked in and told him no), and mentally prepared himself for the onslaught. The young woman hadn't even reached them yet, and Ryeson was already shooting Naomi a look that tried to silently convey 'Holy hell I am so sorry' in the best way he could, despite not knowing what was about to happen. What a way to bomb the first date. Way to go A+ life. Well, at least now he didn't have to complain to himself about how he promised not to date until he graduated now.
“Hey, you're Ryeson Savage, right?”
No. “Yes...” He was suddenly glad his family's company, while a large conglomerate that controlled several branches of many basic needs, wasn't a known name...unless one had been downtown and saw the large office building with 'Savage Inc' plastered across the top. Well then.
“I thought I recognized you. This is about the closest thing I've ever come to meeting someone famous, oh gosh. Funny considering we live in LA, huh?”
Hilarious. “A few articles about my family's local business isn't really famous.” Please go away.
“Close enough. Hey! Can I take a picture with you to show my friend? She's totally got the hots for you.”
I don't think she's the only one, but nice try. “Uh...” What was the politest way to say 'hell no'? His ability to maintain social graces and restrain his bluntness was becoming incredibly strained. Oh yeah he was going to be fantastic with public relations – three sentences into a stressful conversation and he was about to flatly tell someone how goddamn rude they were being.

”Well that is wonderful to know, at least when we lose I can lie and say it was your fault not mine.” Naomi loved his and could be a big one herself, but boy was she crap at aiming, at long as her target was in front of her she would have some sort of chance, but if they started moving she’d be out of luck. She was trying to pay attention to only Rye, but those eyes on him were not going away She had hoped clinging onto him would have been enough, that it would have told the girl, hey he’s taken back off. Really what did a woman have to do to keep a man all to herself? Brand him? Cause Naomi was strongly tempted.
Rye gave her this sorry look and that was when she noticed that the girl was coming over to them. For a moment she felt frustrated and unlooped her arm from his and pulled away slightly, was she upset? Yes, at him? Not really, but she was tempted to take it out on him for his good looks, or whatever it was that made the girl come over. She felt the bit better the longer she listened to the two. ”So his family runs some kind of known business, ok, I can deal with this, at least its not something like. HEY YOU heard about that scandal you had with so and so. Yep, ok I’m good.” Naomi could keep from letting her mind wander while she was being ignored by her date. Naomi only decided to pay attention when the girl asked about a picture, and Rye was left rather speechless. At least that told her that this was something rather awkward and new to him, alright she was willing to save him now.
Naomi cleared her throat to get the girl’s attention, she was going to play the nice girlfriend and shoo this nuisance away kindly. Wait girlfriend? This was only the first date, and already Naomi was calling herself his girlfriend, she needed to slow down. “Excuse me, I’m sorry but now is just not a good time, after all we are on a date and you have been polite, but an interruption is an interruption. Also, the doors to the game are opening.” Naomi pointed to the mass of young people, and the very few adults, shuffling into the laser tag room. She had done well to play nice right? She was already planning to shoot the young girl countless times, same team or not.

It wasn't like he wasn't used to a little attention because of those ridiculous articles his mother had tricked him into, and normally he could handle it with more grace, but he'd never had to deal with it while on a date, and to add to that a date who had no idea about his 'future fortune'. He knew she had to be observant enough to realize he made good money, but she didn't know beyond that. Like you know, the fact he was to inherit a multinational successful company and his mother like to advertise him as a rich very eligible bachelor in those terrible womens magazines.
So when he both saw and heard Naomi mention that they were letting in the next cluster of people as the other teams that had just finished left out the side doors, he jumped that opportunity. “Oh look letsgo” he agreed, jabbing a finger in the direction of the nearest doorway to them, happy to see when the teenaged girl got dragged in a different direction by her friends as he moved alongside Naomi and the rest of the cluster of people. It wasn't until they passed through into the low room with bright lighting lined with racks of the vests that he managed to legitimately relax a bit, moving off from the larger clusters of people to settle himself almost leaning against a wall on the far side.
He reached up and pinched the bridge of his nose, a slight sigh escaping him. “I hope you don't plan to ask about that.” he admitted, though he realized he hadn't really meant to say it, just think it. 'Thank you, failure of a brain to mouth filter, you are so very reliable' he thought in irritation, but took it in stride nonetheless. Way to step in it, Savage. Amazingly he had a response come to mind just in case she did ask at that very moment, though he was hoping for an amazing bout of timing again, and for the instructional videos they were bound to start running on the large screens within a few minutes were obscenely loud and clicked on very soon.
Ryeson could tell by the look on her face alone that yes, she was going to ask. Damn, it was worth a shot. He gave an uncomfortable laugh and with a skill of technically true bullshitting only business meeting had ever taught him, managed out his excuse. “My parents think they're funny and that using their eldest who's supposed to inherit their company is good for advertising. Though a part of it may be 'Hey Rye, you have blonde hair blue eyes and a pretty face, you're a relateable face people like, go stand in front of that camera.'” 'Please tell me she has no idea what my family owns.' Normal people wouldn't know, so he was banking on it.

Words: 000 Tags: RYESON SAVAGE Note:Small, not sure what to do XD Naomi was pretty sure that the doors opening to the game floor were like the gates of heaven opening for Ryeson. Poor guy, he seemed not at all happy with what had just happened, though she really couldn’t blame him. After all, they were on a date and Naomi was starting to learn a few things about him, things he probably wanted to tell her himself. Still maybe this wasn’t the best way to get information about someone, not that Naomi wanted to pry, but now she was stuck wondering. What was so great about Rye, or his family that young girl wanted to be all up in his grill. Was he part of some mobsters or something? Rich out the ass? Naomi’s mind was wandering poorly and dangerously.
“I hope you don't plan to ask about that.” Was he blind? Now Naomi would just have to ask after that question. She gave him one of those ‘what do you think?’ looks as she waited for an answer or excuse. She eyed him carefully, looking him up and down. She stayed quiet for a moment while she thought about his answer, feeling that there was more this this story. She shook her head and then smiled at him. “Doesn’t sound like the whole thing, BUT i’ll take that for now, why don’t we just have some fun?” She leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek. Yes she would leave it alone for now, right now she wanted to take this laser gun and shoot some people and use Ryeson as a shield.

He supposed that was the downside of dating someone who didn't know about him...the inevitable 'Oh yeah hey see that big building? That's the family business. What do we do? Oh well we may be sorta of responsible for the electricity and some scattered other public utilities of almost half the United States. Oh and a decent chunk of Australia. Oh and we're looking into deals with Japan as well.' Oh well. He still preferred this over 'let me throw my panties in your face because you have money' – it may have sounded simpler than dancing around the subject but it really wasn't...and don't even get him started on what a disaster marrying into money so it wasn't such a novelty to the woman was. He didn't even have to guess that his unfortunate string of women basically stemmed from those issues, really.
He was inclined to agree with Naomi on her point, though, conceding that he would have to eventually tell her (he wasn't a dumbass, it was unavoidable), but for now it was just better to enjoy themselves. He grinned at her a little in response and moved towards the nearest rack with the gear on it, not even paying half attention to the video running, remember well how to hook the vest on and held the heavy gun in one hand as he waited for them to open the second set of doors. “This place is big, by the way, basically a maze, they normally have to have assistants come help you find your way out if you're in too far...and it's loud, so-” he was cut off by the click of the assistant opening the door nearby and the reverberation of said loud electronic music greeting their ears, at which point he shrugged and tilted his head closer to Naomi's height level “-make sure we don't get separated.”
To seal his point, his free hand reached down to take her hand in his, carefully but with a sure grip so he didn't instantly lose her, shot her a half-smirk over his shoulder, paired with an exaggerated eyebrow wiggle before he pulled her in after him, at which point they were instantly plunged into darkness accented only by the bright neon that lined the corridors and the red glow of their team's vests as they all scattered out. He had a vague memory of a back path that was fairly unused and quite advantageous, as it led back to one of the blue team's bases, but finding it was going to be a chore. Nonetheless, he made a motion in the direction he planned to try, splitting off from their group like many of the others, keeping a grip on Naomi to ensure they both didn't end up hopelessly lost.

”A maze huh?” Naomi remembered as a kid she loved to play those maze games on paper, but had never deal with one in real life. She took a second to think about any tactic she could use to keep herself from getting lost, but then realized there was no way she could worry about direction and shooting. Her grand plan was to keep near Ryeson, use him as a shield and get out with at least one shot on a certain young lady. Was she jealous? Maybe? To be honest she was just bothered by the fact that that girl knew more about Ryeson. She knew something that Naomi did not, that was what bothered her, just enough to want to shoot the girl a few times in laser tag. (for the fun of course)
Naomi was pleased that Rye had the same idea as herself, stay close and don’t split up. If Rye had left her to fend for herself Naomi probably would have ended up both lost and bitter. He had done the right thing and women some brownie points for sure. As some women would have noticed the closeness or even felt embarrassed, Naomi was unfazed. Of course that could have something to do with the fact that she got much closer to men on a nightly basis for work. Still she found the gesture to be nice, more points awarded. If she did not have a certain rule placed Naomi might have thrown herself at him by now. It worried her on just how perfect he was, he made her laugh, was good looking, smart.. she was impressed, maybe too impressed. Naomi knew from her past that the more perfect a person felt the higher chance of there being a few skeletons in that person’s closet.
Although in Rye’s defence maybe he really was perfect? Naomi normally had pretty bad luck with men, but maybe her luck had just been piling up until she saved enough to be worthy to meet Ryeson? Either way Naomi felt lucky and would do her best to keep Rye around for as long as her luck allowed. She followed Ryeson into the darkness, checking her gun once to make sure she had her figure on the trigger at all time. She held it at an aiming angle and did her best to keep an eye out as she whisper into Rye’s ear. ”Any plans? and also, I can’t accidently hit you can I?” Thats all she needed was to leave here known as the chick that shot her teammate.
