Living Situation Nate has successfully completed twelve years of public school and graduated from New York University where he majored in Photography and Imaging. While he would love to be able to live solely of money made from selling his photographs, he’s not famous enough yet. You know the people at Disneyland that take your picture and tell you to pick it up later? Yeah, that’s what Nate is doing right now. At least it brings in a stable income. As he is just starting out and building his life and career, Nate is part of the lower middle class, possibly upper lower class. 02. Appearance Your character's physical description/notes. Not required. NOTE TO SELF: Add in later. Like when it's not the wee hours of the morning. 03. Personality Nathaniel is a very lazy person, simple as that. He knows well enough that if wants to survive in this world, he needs to be more responsible. As a result, Nate always finishes his tasks and is never late. His work is generally satisfactory, but just barely. In school, it was enough for him to pass and graduate but not enough to place him very high in the school rankings. The only exception to this is when he is taking photographs. His digital LSR camera is one of his most cherished objects and only when he is behind it does he actually make an attempt to excel and succeed. When speaking with another person, he always tries to be as honest as possible. That is not to say that he is above lying. He merely changes the wording when necessary in order to satisfy the needs of the situation. The best lies always do contain a grain of truth after all. But even so, when questioned, he will attempt to tell as much of the truth as possible (he fails at this a lot). However there is a part of Nate that he would much rather not admit to himself; the part of him that is selfish and would do anything for his own gain. His selfishness has resulted in some less than admirable actions but he is no saint and neither are many of the six billion people on this planet. One of the characteristics Nate likes about himself is that he is adaptable. It was a trait that he picked up from his childhood and was one that he deemed necessary for life. He is open to change and is not against life altering developments in life. He finds one good thing about the situation and from that he makes the best of it. Even if it means that he is stuck in his room and unable to leave due to the snow, he will make the best of it. Otherwise his personality probably would have turned out more problematic than he is now. As of late, Nate has been proving himself to be a very possessive and jealous boyfriend. Whenever he feels that another person might be making a move on Nemi, he becomes agitated and will do his best to assert his position as Nemi’s boyfriend. Nate will do all he can to make sure that Nemi stays by his side. She is, after all, the only girl he’s ever loved in this way. 04. History Children usually do not retain their memories from before the age of four. This is true of Nate who cannot remember any of his life before the age of five. He supposes that it is for the best. He likes to think that he was officially born at that age. From what his adoptive parents have told him, he was abandoned at a fire station when he was about three years old with nothing but the clothes on his back and a note that told them his first name. From there, paper work was filed, a social worker was assigned, and Nathaniel was sent to his first foster family. After about a year of being bounced from foster home to foster home, the Brandt family adopted him when he was five years old. There is this stereotype that all adoptive children have problems. This is not true. Nate was welcomed into the family with open arms and was accepted by everyone even the grandparents and the judgmental aunt. He grew up with a relatively normal life. Although his adoptive parents let him know that he was adopted, he never felt out of place with them and he considered them as his real parents. His older sister tolerated him as best as an older sister could. She never felt jealous that her parents adopted him but even if she did, she never showed it. In his third year of middle school, little, underachieving Nate was required to take an elective or risk being held back. Nate chose photography believing it to be an easy class. Unsurprisingly, his first few photographs did not receive very good grades. Unlike other art teachers who graded on effort, the photography teacher also graded on the quality and interest of the photograph. In order to make up for the poor grades, Nate was given an extra assignment to take images of trees. Yes, trees. Nate despised the assignment and put it off until the very last minute which is how he found himself outside at midnight taking pictures of the large plants under a full moon. That night, Nate realized the artistry in photography. The next morning he processed the images and turned them into his teacher to receive full credit. His future was settled, he had found his calling. Life was good to Nate who passed school with no problems, had the occasional girlfriend here and there, and has his own group of friends. He didn't actually associate with many people at school but that was beside the point. He drank and he rebelled during his teenage years because what teenager doesn’t? But there was never anything out of the ordinary with his life. He has not experienced any traumatic incidents (unless you count his first few years of life which he can’t remember anyway), not earned any prestigious awards, and is not rich or famous. Nate was perfectly average. After high school, Nate then traveled across the country to New York City to attend university there. It was there that he met |
