Pain. Lots of it. It flooded her entire subconscious as Bambi slowly started to open her eyes. She felt her mouth twitch as she grimaced in her dozing state and tried to sit up. She had to get up. Why did she have to get up again? She had duties.... or something? The memory was fuzzy and the more she tried to grasp it, the less she was able to focus on it.
Slowly her eyes opened and the pink haired woman saw a ceiling fan lazily swirl above her. White ceilings and soft painted walls greeted her as she opened her eyes fully. She was wrapped in a warm blanket, but as she sat up she took note of several things. Her shirt wasn't her own. It smelt... masculine, and had some rock band name slewn across it that she didn't know.
Bambi was alone in the vast bed when she slowly started to sit up. Her whole body ached something fierce! She looked down and gently pulled up the shirt that she wore to see white bandages. That's right, she was... she was in a new place. Yesterday she'd woken up at a man's apartment. Jax. His name was Jax. He had fixed her up, and now she was living here until she could figure out something.... Oh wait, her memory. She had woken up yesterday to a strange man doctoring her up, and had been fed, questioned, and then slept. Now she woke alone.... perhaps he had work?
Bambi carefully got out of the bed and straightened, moaning quietly at how her ribs ached. She was coated in bruises, but she couldn't sit still. Bambi looked around the apartment. Well... she might as well do something constructive. Slowly yet surely Bambi wandered around the small apartment. She picked up and straightened up as she went before she stumbled across the cleaning supplies. After that, well... there really wasn't much stopping her.
By the end of the day, the apartment was absolutely spotless and she had managed to shower and was having trouble rewrapping the bandages around herself. She had a nasty cut across her forehead that had been taped (and she'd kept water out of) and she was pretty sure a rib was bruised or... something like that. Her legs and arms were littered with bruises, and her torso was awful. She looked like she'd gotten hit by a truck! Bambi wrinkled her nose before trying for the fifth time to wrap her torso, unaware that she was about to turn her new roommate's life completely upside down.

Work that day had been a blessing, after finding some girl, fixing her up and keeping her at his apartment he was sure that he had lost some marbles. After all he knew nothing what so ever about this woman, she could be some drug addict, or a criminal. The second problem was his land lord, really if Fat Joe heard that he had anyone, let alone a women living with him. Jaxon did not even was to finish that thought as he packed up his tools and tossed them into the trunk of his car. He was cover in oil and grease and needed a bath, but before that he had an errand to run. Leaving work after a long day of fixing cars he took a short drive over to the supermarket and spent a good hour buying food items. Sure he had food in the house but not much, maybe a box of cereal, and a few cans of god knows what. All in all if he was going to keep this woman around until she healed the lease he could do was make sure she got some food into her.
After shopping he drove home, picking up Axle at a friend's house since there was no way he was going to leave an active puppy with an injured woman. Up the stairs with a squeaky blue cart full of food, the elevator was broken again, he rounded the corner, cart with one hand and puppy with the other, over to his apartment. With some talent he did not know he had he got the door open and got all his belonging inside. With Axle free to run around Jaxon closed the door behind him and started to take bags out of the cart and onto the small kitchen counter.
As he placed another bag on the counter he noticed Bambi, left the bag on the counter and rushed over to Bambi. "What are you doing?" He batted away her hands and made quick work of fixing her bandages before she made anything worse. He never made a comment, or reaction to Bambi being in a bra, though any other man would have taken the time to look. He left her alone and walked back over to the kitchen. "So, I'm not sure what you might like but I bought a few things at the supermarket."

She was so close! She knew that she could get this bandage done. Struggling, she tried to wrap herself up with the bandage. The cling wrap wasn't clinging like it was supposed to and she swore loudly. She very nearly missed the door opening in the apartment, but when she looked up, there he was; greasy mechanic turned doctor.
It took her a minute to comprehend that he was actually trying to shoo her hands away from her own bandages. "Hey, hey! I've got it, don't worry. Don't, hey!" It was futile to actually try to fend him off, but she tried anyway. After about five seconds of Jax undoing and redoing her bandages perfectly in less than a minute (something that took her nearly an hour), Bambi gave up and just lifted her arms as best as she could.
She heard the clicking of nails on hardwood and watched the dog make itself at home. She wasn't sure whether or not she liked the dog yet, but it was a nice enough creature, she supposed.
Bambi kept her eyes on the dog as it disappeared into another room and Jax finished with her bandages. She tested a breath and fought off a grimace at the soreness. Eh, it was something she was just going to have to get used to, she guessed. "Thanks." She looked him over and couldn't help but smile a little bit and shake her head. "You look like you've been rubbing up against motors all day." She spied the groceries and made a beeline for those, picking them up and poking around in the sacks before carrying them over to the counter.
The very pristine counter. The very pristine counter that matched the very pristine and now spotless floors... which of course matched the equally pristine apartment. "I was hoping you'd bring food. What do you want to eat?"

He shrugged, never the picky type when it came to food, though to be honest he only went shopping to make sure Bambi ate well as she healed. "Anything is fine." He was about to say more when he froze in place. He hadn't noticed when he had been fixing her bandage, but that he had a moment to think. "Where are all my stuff?" How had he not notice earlier? He made a dash for the hall closet and found that to be just as neat as the rest of the apartment. He stayed quiet as he moved across the area, first the kitchen, then the bedroom/living room and the the bathroom. Everything was neat, clean and looked nothing like how he left it this morning. He returned to the kitchen and took a seat on one of his bar stools. "What did you do?"
Jaxon knew that his place had been a bit of a mess, but it was a mess that he knew well. With the mess he had he could find anything with ease and quickness, now he was lost. Axle returned from investigating the only bathroom in the house, this small puppy was still not too sure about that room. After all he had some mix feelings about it, he had been washed there once and the tub scared him to no end. Wobbling over to Jaxon and Bambi the young pup looked at both humans and started whining, he was hungry. Jaxon the otherhand was still distracted by the fact the Bambi had destroyed everything but cleaning his place, how was he going to find things now?

"Oooh, rice." Bambi carefully bent to pick up groceries and started unloading them on the counter once Jax was done wrapping her up. She had to admit, that was a lot better than she originally thought it would be. The bandages were tight and gave her ribs the support she desperately needed. She sighed a little bit before she went into the cabinents to get pots and pans to cook dinner.
Where's my stuff? Bambi grinned to herself while her back was turned to Jax. "Your stuff? I put it up." She could tell by the dumb founded silence that this was not what he expected.
"I had nothing to do all day, and exercising is good for you, so I cleaned." She had cleaned all day and then showered, and he'd come home as she was trying to wrap herself. Hell, she was nonplussed standing in his kitchen in nothing but a bra. She started unloading all the groceries into the cabinents and his fridge - which was ruthlessly scrubbed clean and sparkling when the doors opened. "I cleaned and changed the linens, mopped and vacuumed, dusted, all that good stuff. Anything that was a car part was laid on a tarp in your little spare corner over there since some of them were oily. And I found a couple of ah.... toys under the bed." She didn't even have to look at him to know that he'd understand what she meant.
"I put them in a box in the closet labeled 'personal'. Everything is put up, neat, tidy, and clean." She glanced down at the puppy that was sniffing about. "Except for him. Otherwise, I tried to move as little as possible. No no, don't thank me, that's alright, just part of my duty." She pulled out a rice cooker she had found in an unopened box and poured a cup or so of rice in it. "Stir fry sound good to you?"

Great, he had helped some hurt young lady, and she woke up to be his mother. Jaxon had to admit that it was nice to see everything so neat, but he wished that he had been given a bit more of a warning. Jaxon shook his head as she spoke, he could already tell that he would need to have a few rules laid down with Bambi. He was willing to help her, house, feed, and give her free health checks, but he couldn't have her messing anything up. Jaxon was a private man when it came to his life and home. He hardly ever allowed anyone into his apartment, not family, friends, even dates took weeks, sometimes even months, before he would bring them home. He liked his home to be his own little world, a place he could be alone when he needed it. A place he could be himself without worry, and now he was sharing it with this women.
Jaxon was about to give her a piece of his mind when she spoke about his "toys". That was when his palm met his forehead with a good smack. "Ok fine, whatever, you cleaned its fine, just next time you decide to move all my stuff around... just warn me." He looked at the puppy and decided that it wasn't the dog's fault for his poor mood, hell it wasn't even Bambi's fault, though she did help, no, today just wasn't one of his best days. He moved around the counter and reached into a cabinet that had Axle's food bag. He then took a dish bowl and plopped it on the floor in the hall next to a coffee cup that had water in it for the dog. He really needed to get around to getting some real dog bowls for the puppy, maybe a cage and some toys too. He turned the bag over to find it empty. "Shit"
The small pup looked at Jaxon, expecting the man to provide food. All Jaxon could do was look over at Bambi. "Stir fry sounds good, make enough for Axle to have some too." He dropped the empty bag in the trash. "Also, put a shirt on." He walked into the bed area and searched through a draw until he found a t-shirt. "Here, wear this for now." He left the shirt on the counter for her. "I think I'm gonna take a shower." He was done dealing his new live in maid, just the thought of his landlord finding out made him want to die right there on the spot. After all, Jaxon had enough problems with the man, but he knew the rules, that man was greedy with money and would love to add a heavy fee to Jaxon's rent easily.
Jaxon wandered over to the bathroom and locked the door behind him. For a man he still took a good 30-40minutes to shower. He washes his hair, his body, and basically just took his time as he washed the day's hell away. Once done with his shower he grabbed a towel and wrapped himself with it. It was a habit of his that he would have to break at some point, since he had completely forgotten about the women in his apartment. Now the man had little shame about his body, but he didn't want it to come across that he was trying to take advantage of Bambi in any way. So when he grabbed some boxer and was about to take off his towel he paused. "Were you just going to stand there while I took my towel off and made and idiot of myself?" He asked this as he gripped his towel tightly and this time grabbed, boxers and pants to put over them. "Sorry." He went back to the bathroom, changed and came back out, pants on, but still shirtless, his hair still wet.

Bambi looked over her shoulder at Jax when he told her to give him a warning next time. ".... I practically slipped on a pair of leather cuffs, next time you need to give /me/ a warning!" She shook her head as she went back to cooking.
Vegetables were expertly sliced, the dog was apparently getting people food tonight, and all was well. Well, until Jax threw a shirt at her and it landed on the counter. Bambi lifted an eyebrow, paused, and then looked down at her bound stomach and bra that was brazenly being showed. Oh.... right, clothes. Her lack of modesty was particularly low as she shrugged into the shirt and went back to cooking.
By the time Jax was done showering, Bambi was just about to finish up with the food. She slid the fresh, hot food onto a plate. The aroma was inviting as she set out two plates on the counter and got some ice for the glasses. Bambi glanced up at Jax to ask him a question when she saw him in the towel, still damp, with his back towards her. She smirked for a moment and merely folded her arms as she waited for him to notice.... or waited for a free show. He seemed to sense her watching and nearly tripped over himself to get dressed, out of sight. "I was actually waiting for a free show." Bambi snickered as she fixed herself a plate and very carefully sat down because of her ribs and started picking at her food. Honestly, she wasn't incredibly hungry, but she knew if she didn't eat, it would just take longer to get better.

With that little, almost disaster, out of the way. Jaxon felt a bet better in his mood, the shower helping him clear and mind and get over the fact that his apartment was messed with. He blamed himself for getting so worked up, he was a private person, and had just forgotten how it felt to living with someone. After moving out of his parents house he had always got by living on his own, well there was the girl friend or two. When it came to those he had always given up his apartment and moved in with them, it had, in all honesty, been easier.
Jaxon just guessed that it was just about time he got back into the swing of being a clean, organized male. So even if he was not ready for it, with Bambi here, he was pretty much forced. He opened the fridge and grabbed a beer, after his day he needed one. Then he took the plate Bambi had been kind enough to make and took a seat on a stool, reading his food on the kitchen counter.
"Sorry about the place, I know its small, but it's a decent place to live." He never really had a problem with how small it was, a place to live was all he ever needed, the size never mattered. He really did not know what to talk about, he wanted to ask her so many questions, but they had found out earlier that Bambi was missing a fair part of her memory. Deciding that stayed quiet was safer, he ate his dinner and watched as his puppy ate his own meal in the corner of his eye. Just then a few thoughts came into mind.
"In a few days, when I can get off work I'll go and pick us up some things, Axle needs dog bowls, and I'm guessing you'd like some clothes to wear that aren't mine, or baggy? Write down your size and I'll pick up a few things for you ok?"

While Jax went to go get changed, Bambi started to eat her food. A paw lightly scratched at her foot and she looked down to see the puppy. "Oops, sorry." She slid out of the stool and fixed a small bowl for the puppy. She could hear some sort of growling in the corner and she lifted her head to see the puppy was partway under the bed, with a strap in his mouth. "Dog! No!"
Bambi ran over (or hobbled more like) and ducked down next to him, pulling the strap out of his mouth before scooting him away from the bag. She unzipped it a little, checked the inside, and relaxed. The wads of fifty and one hundred dollar bills were still neatly rolled, wrapped in plastic bags and labeled. The only thing to her name...
Bambi came back to herself and zipped it shut and pushed it back under the bed when she heard Jax come back out and fix his plate. She moved to sit back down next to her as he mentioned something about going out and shopping for clothes. 'What size are you?' Bambi opened her mouth to answer and then paused and blinked. "Um.... I don't know." She frowned as she tried to think, racked through the files in her mind, but... nothing came up. Blank. "What clothes did you find me in? Maybe they still have sizes."

"A fair question."
Jaxon finished up his meal and got up from his seat. He stood for a second and thought about where he had placed her clothes. He knew that he had kept them, mainly because he had no clue if they would unclog her memory or not. Jax walked over to where the hall closet was and dug around until he found a plastic bag. He then took the bag, walked over to Bambi and tossed the bag to land next to her.
"Here, check the size."
He then took his plate and went over to the kitchen, of she cooked, the least he cold do was clean after himself. He washed what dishes were left there as he waited for Bambi to give him some kind of answer. "If you can't figure it out, maybe, if we wait a few weeks, we can just go together?" That would mean Bambi would have to stay inside for a while, but for Jax he was sure that would be a good thing for her.

Bambi was a bit slower when it came to eating her meal. It didn't go down as easy as it did for him. Not with the fists that had beat into her stomach. She took slow bites of the hot food, briefly wondering about other things she had eaten recently. Her stomach was sore and upset, but the stir fry went down easily enough. She blanched a little at the soy sauce she'd put in it, but ate her own food without complaints.
Jax was a good eater though, and it brought her pleasure to see him finish his plate. The pup below her deemed it worthy enough too as the males cleared the plates. She made no complaint either when Jax got up and washed off his own plate. Thankfully his dishes hadn't been that terrible when she had cleaned earlier.
When the clothes were tossed at her, Bambi caught them, pulling at the tags to look. "Pants say size 8/9, shirt's a medium, but it's stretchy fabric." She looked down at her hips and poked them with a finger. Not too bad. Maybe it was her butt. She looked over her shoulder to try and see, but couldn't. Damn, amnesia thanks to head trauma really /was/ inconvenient!
"Wait, why two weeks? Why not tomorrow or the day after? Are you super busy?" She didn't think mechanics could be backed up with work for two weeks.

He listened over the running water about her sizes until he was done cleaning. After he turned off the water he stepped over and took a seat next to her. "In a way, I have a few things I need to do, and I rather you be more healed before we take you out in public. No way to know for sure how bad you really are since a hospital visit is out of the question. Just heal up a bit, use my clothes for now, like pajamas." He picked up the tv remote and starting flipping channels. This was how the next few days would go, he would work, come home, eat, relax, walk the dog and then go to sleep. Getting to know Bambi was no where in this plan, he had just gotten out of a relationship, and wasn't looking for another one.
So they sat in slience, Jaxon not doing much but asking Bambi if she cared what they watched or how she was feeling. He honestly didn't know how to speak with her, she was something new in his life that he was going to have to get used to. He had been the one to make the choice of bring her home and he was not about to just abandon her. A few hours later and Jaxon was setting up places to sleep, taking the little space on the floor, but not before taking his dog out on a much needed walk. When he returned he found Bambi already asleep, not that it worried him, he had given her meds earlier that would have helped her sleep, plus he had turned his quick walk to more then an hour walk with Axle.
Tomorrow he would check his bank, see how much he had for food and pay his rent, then go to work and continue on with the new pattern that was his life.
