04. History Lilium Susannah Wood was born into the world with a smile on her face and music in her voice; at least, that's what her parents always told her. To this day Lily is uncertain of whether or not she was crying as she was born or trying to sing, though that fact doesn't matter much to her any more. Of course, to her it would only seem natural; both her father and mother were people of commendable musical talent. She awakened to the a capella and slept to the serenade...! Metaphorically, of course. Lilium's parents were both the so called "black sheep" of their families, and though they never said so, she believed that's how they grew to fall in love; well, with the help of their mutual love for music. They traveled all over, performing at concerts, bars, festivals, parades; wherever they possibly could to try to make a name for themselves. As a result, she grew up always on the move. Always seeing new places, always meeting new people, always making new friends... Always leaving friends behind. Each day a new task, each week a new adventure, each month a new life. Lilium was always on the move, traveling from place to place with her parents. She soon became accustomed to the changing faces that flew by, and slowly, ever so slowly began to disconnect herself socially. Her parent's smiling faces and the music which they so loved became the only things she really came to truly love, and often if her parents had to go somewhere and leave her alone, she would simply sit and listen to music. In the end, music ended up becoming the most familiar thing to her in her life. Of course, with all their money being funneled into the payments for travel and setting up performances and the way they were on the move, there was no way Lily could attend a proper public school; so as she grew into that age her mother and father decided to home-school her. Of course, by this time Lily was already quite adept at impersonating them, and quite disinterested in learning much of anything that wasn't involved in music in one way or another. Needless to say, teaching her simple sciences and mathematics proved to be a monumental chore, while she picked up complicated musical principles one after the other. In the end, her parents decided to forgo a proper education for her, and instead began to teach her how to sing and play instruments. This turned out to be a very eye-opening decision for them, as within only a half-dozen years she could perform with them, although even as a supportive role, her love of music only grew. It was around this time that her parents decided to purchase a permanent residence with what money they had. And without glamour, all at once, their gypsy lifestyle came to an end. Even having a place to call home, Lilium still abhorred normal education, so her homeschooling continued |
