Vincenzo watched her movements knowing all too well that she was thinking about something. He seen the reflex before with other cops and felt pretty bad about bringing up the whole thing. He had been shot yes, but not everyone took the situation well, maybe he should have worded it differently. She did make things feel a bit better when she made the comment about her dog. It would good to know that she had such a faithful partner. Vincenzo worked alone, normally having no one to watch his back, so he felt good about Elena’s safety.
He shrugged not sure why he had suggested the bet in the first place, and he honestly had no clue who would win. They could both be at there best, and one slip up could be the point of win or lose. Still even though he wasn’t too sure about the idea now that he thought about it, he did agree that it may be fun. ”Sure why not, loser buys the other dinner at the place of their choice.” He could get behind this, it was different from what he was used to, but for all he knew it could be fun.
He stood up and tossed away his empty cup into the closest trash and agreed that it was about time to go. ”I’ll be right out, just wait for me, I want to pick up something to go.” With that he got Elena to head out the door while he made it to the counter and ordered a box of donuts, packed full of all the ones he had spotted Elena eyeing. Then he took a pen and borrowed a small notepad from the girl at the counter. He started to scribble down a little letter for Elena, it wasn’t much but some things were hard to say with words.
Dear Elena,
I found writing this to be a lot easier than speaking my mind, but as we both know, that is just something we both need to work on. I really enjoyed spending this time with you, it was refreshing and made the choice to move to L.A. a lot easier. I look forward to more encounters with you and I promise to give you a good run at our little competition, just name a date and time. I will add my address and phone number so that if you don’t see me around the job you can just call, or even drop by if you would like. 210 W ELK Ave in Glendale, apartment 2C. and for my number its, 747-321-6373. Like I stated, drop by or call, its my cell so you should be able to get me at anytime.
Maybe he wrote too much? He wasn’t sure but the paper was covered in his neat handwriting both front and back. He finally left the shop to meet a waiting Elena outside. ”Here you go, a nice box of fresh donuts, should hold you over for a while, and umm, take this, it has my number on it so that you can call me.” Well then that was it, it was time to go and since Vincenzo was considered done for the day, he would be heading over to his car instead of the buidling. ”We’ll talk again soon.” He turned away and walked off to where he had parked his car this morning.
