He's normally the one who goes in early to do most of the prep work. Though his position is rather flexible. If they are short on servers during a busy time, he may have to put down his apron and pick up a stack of menus. At worst he may have to do all the dishes if the dishwasher doesn't come in that day. Though 'assistant chef' remains his official title

Therefore, he is stuck living with his parents for the time being. The house isn't particularly big, just large enough for four people to live comfortably. One advantage of this is having a stay at home mother who keeps things clean and does all the cooking. Of course, she refuses to clean Ashley's room. With him not being the cleanest person, it is a bit messier than the rest of the house. His father insists he pays rent at a reasonable rate, something Ashley accepts without much issue.
[cs=3][atrb=style,width: 460px; text-align: center; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px;] Personality
[cs=3][atrb=valign,top][atrb=style,width: 450px; text-align: center; padding-left: 25px; padding-right: 25px;] Ash is known to be a very dim witted young man. Poor memory, below average learning ability, and a very thick skull all compound to make a rather weak minded human being. Words just don’t seem to penetrate his skull. However, when he sees actions being performed, he has a much easier time remembering that than he would having it explained to him. Unsurprisingly, he is also quite slow in most of his mental functions. It takes a bit of doing for him to get through intensive thought processes. That isn’t to say he stumbles his way through simple conversation. It is most visible when it comes to analyzing people and their intentions, as it takes some time to realize what they may be. Unsurprisingly, this characteristic has brought out a very blunt way of communicating. It would take too long for him to think of a better way of putting things, so he chooses to be very straightforward in all his dealings. At the same time, this leads to him being very tactless, never really stopping to think how his words may hurt people. Despite him sounding very insensitive at times, he is actually very sympathetic towards others. Unfortunately his poor attempts to cheer up distressed ones often causes the situation to grow worse. A pattern which his has failed to notice up to this day. Being weak minded doesn’t necessarily mean he isn’t strong willed. Tenacious as a bull, he is determined to reach any goal or challenge put before him, possibly due to his being outright dense. His odd thought processes often lead to his his mind wandering, causing him to become unfocused at times. Strangely enough, despite being somewhat slow, he is a bit of an over-thinker in social situations. His mind often dwells on things for longer than necessary, only adding to his apparent slowness. Though he often doesn't end up getting anywhere, usually just abandoning the thought process. On top of this, his thoughts have a tendency to jump around at random. One second he's dwelling on one subject, the next he's considering something from some time ago. Being aware of this trait, Ashley has adopted a very decisive way of dealing with situations. Rather than waste his time thinking, he most often goes with the first thing to pop into his head. Ash prides himself on being loyal to people he trusts. Little does he know that in his case it could easily be considered a fault. Once someone has his loyalty it would take some serious betrayal to lose it. This often leads to him blindly accepting things that these people say, even doing what they ask without question. If he assumes they know what he's doing, he doesn't bother himself with the details. While he normally has a tendency to mind his own business, he does have a bit of a problem with jealousy. In many aspects of life, he often resents people for having things that he does not. Though he never dwells on it to the point of envy, it does impact his initial reaction to some things. Even once forgiven, this is one thing that often stays in the back of his head. With a name like Ashley and a dull sense of wit, it would be near impossible to survive without being tough. While not a violent individual, he tends to be a impatient with people. He doesn’t hesitate to punch someone in the face if they get on his nerves. Fortunately for everyone involved, his density and slowness gives people a bit of room for teasing. It takes him quite some time to realize just how annoying a person is, or when someone is attempting to have fun at his expense. But once he realizes what exactly is happening, he is rarely hesitant to attack the offender. At the same time, he is fairly forgiving. He considers one blow to be punishment enough, calling it even immediately after. In other words, it only leads up to a full on brawl if the one on the receiving end chooses to escalate the situation. Once it reaches that level, he has no problem knocking some sense into them. However, there are some limits to this. It has been firmly engraved into his mind that hitting women is wrong. Though he's fall from chivalrous, he refuses to strike a woman. That doesn't mean he is unwilling to put them in a headlock, however. He also doesn't strike children quite as hard as older people. He has no problem knocking them on the head hard enough to knock them on their ass. It takes a lot to really get under this guy’s skin, as he is rather reserved. He may have emotions, but it takes some digging to get much of a natural reaction out of him. Be it positive or negative. While he rarely shows much anger, his actions have a tendency to be a bit over the top. Even when he reaches the point of attacking someone, he usually isn’t anything more than mildly annoyed. There is, however, an exception to the rule. Ashley is very easily embarrassed. While this expression may be identical to just about every other situation, there is a crack in the wall. When nervous, his usual expression is broken by the reddening of his cheeks, as he blushes rather easily. Of course he will outright deny it if anyone tries to point it out to him. He isn’t really opposed to giving a simple smile or chuckle when he finds something amusing. Even then, it takes a conscious effort on his part to do so. This leads to some oddly timed reactions when paired with how long it takes to process some things. Despite being a bold individual, he has a solitary fear that makes many inconveniences in his life. Ashley is highly tachophobic. If he is going anything faster than fifteen miles an hour, he’s likely to have an episode.This makes it difficult for him to even walk on the outside of the sidewalk or get too close to the road.
[cs=3][atrb=style,width: 460px; text-align: center; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px;] History
[cs=3][atrb=valign,top][atrb=style,width: 450px; text-align: center; padding-left: 25px; padding-right: 25px;] Luck was not with this boy from the start. The first unfortunate event of his life occurred mere moments after his birth when his parents agreed upon the name Ashley for their only boy. Even his older sister teased him incessantly about it despite his parents frequent scolding. He was sick of getting teased before he was even old enough for school. Despite his sister being four years older, and therefore considerably bigger, he decided to put an end to it. At the age of four, he actually bit her hand, bringing about punishment from his parents. Along with this punishment, he got the classic 'real men don’t hurt girls’ speech from his father. Oddly enough, this little lesson stuck with him. On top of that, he came to find something unexpected. From that day forth, his sister never made fun of his name. At least, not that he noticed. School life was a tough affair for Ash. Not only did he struggle with keeping up with his class from the start, but he seemed to have problems with his peers.The combination of his oddly feminine name and slowness made him easy to tease. It took some time for it to sink in that his fellow students were in fact poking fun at him. When he finally realized it, he decided he wasn't going to put up with it. After all, his parents never said anything about hitting other boys. This led to quite a bit of trouble from both parents and teachers. At the same time, it helped quite a bit with the situation. After that, no one seemed to want to poke much fun at him. Perhaps a simple punch in the face was all it took. This mentality stuck with him throughout the rest of his life. Whenever someone attempted to make jokes at his expense, they would eventually end up knocked on their ass. The pattern continued on throughout all of his school years. Of course, this had some repercussions. Throughout the years, there were multiple cases of suspension from school. When this happened, his father leaped at the chance to take him to his bike shop for the day. A rough group ran the place, mostly ex-bikers and the sort. Though things went surprisingly well, Ashley even helping them out sometimes. He had so much fun over his suspension, that he and his father convinced his mother to let him hang out at the shop after school. Once he was old enough to do actually do some heavy lifting, his father gave him a part time job there. What they both failed to consider is how that would impact his studies. He barely made it through school, even having to take remedial classes on subjects like math and English. It took some doing to balance work and school, spending many long nights struggling over text books. Too stubborn to drop out or quit his job, he was hellbent on making things work. At the age of seventeen, things started to look up. He finally got his hands on his motorcycle permit, something he had been working towards for some time now. His father immediately gave him permission to use his bike, one that Ashley had assisted his father in maintaining over the years. Things took an unexpected turn when a distracted driver changed lanes directly into him at high speeds, colliding into him and sending him off the road. While he managed to survive the crash with no permanent injury, he could never bring himself to cope with the event. He quit his job at his father's shop, doing everything he could to avoid working on a motorcycle. It wasn’t too long after that that Ash graduated from high school, much to the surprise of his friends and family. Many were expecting him to have to spend an extra year to get some of the lessons through his head. But he somehow managed to slide through by the skin of his teeth, possibly due to having left his job. Thus giving him a chance to study and get some sleep. That left him with a problem that arises for just about any graduate. What now? His first move was to get a job at Cody’s Clam Shack as a bus boy, something to keep his parents from hounding him about getting a job. Next, at the suggestion of his father, he sent an application to University of California. It didn’t take long for the rejection letter to come along and lock that plan down. Without much of a choice, he simply continued his work at the Clam Shack, eventually proving to have some diligence and beginning training as a chef. Sure it wasn’t exactly the most prestigious thing he could be putting time into. But it was something.

[cs=3][atrb=style,width: 460px; text-align: blockquote; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px;] Ashley is actually a very talented mechanic, having worked on motorcycles from a young age. Though he has refused to work on anything of the sort since his accident. Without tinkering as a hobby, Ashley took up whittling. While he's far from professional grade, he is able to create some decent looking works. Ashley actually used to have black hair. However, all of the stress from school and his peers caused his hair to turn gray during his last year of middle school. By the time he graduated, there wasn't a single black hair left on his head. At one point his sister jokingly said that Ashley should start wearing a cup with all of the fights he seems to get into. Little did she know he would take that advice literally. Ashley always carries a three bladed pocket knife in his pocket, each blade shorter than the last. This is usually used for whittling, none of the blades really long enough to be practical in a fight. However, he does have a five inch butterfly knife that was given to him when he was younger by one of his father's biker friends. However he was cautioned that the blade was indeed illegal in California, so he has opted to keep it hidden at home. However, he has taken the time to practice a few knife tricks with it.
