HEIGHT 6' 0"; at this height he towers above most women. he's taller than your average man, but doesn't stand out as terribly unusual in a crowd. he's eye-level or taller than most others he meets, and on the occasion he meets someone taller than himself he has the odd habit of not tilting his chin upward to look them in the face, but keeps staring straight ahead instead.WEIGHT 158 lbs; he's more on the lighter side for his height, no doubt due to his more slender build. he's not muscular or heavy by any means, just tall and lean.SCARS face; a good portion of the left side of his face is scarred. the scars mark his cheek bone, temple, and the flesh of his cheek, making it look darker and a bit rougher than the rest of his skin. the scars were obtained during a prank pulled with his friends as a child.TATTOOS shoulders; covering some of the scarring on his shoulders, he has a red sun-like design marked into his left shoulder. it's rather large, about as big as his hand. on his right hand is an intricate circular design, also done in crimson ink.[/style] |

he takes everything people tell him with a grain of salt. being a reporter one learns not to be too trusting of others, but at the same time he believes he's forced to believe them until they're proven to be lying. he doesn't like to jump to conclusions or judge, usually he finds it to just be a waste of time. he just wants to relax and go with the flow, he likes for everything around him to go smoothly and for people to work together to make things work. he's decent enough at being a team player, but at the same time, the man is extremely independent. he can go days without even speaking. though his cooking skills are sub-par, he has no trouble surviving off of them. he's never been picky and he's used to things being rough and having to take care of himself. he's constantly watching out for his own skin, and in a way he expects everyone else to do the same. of course, should he see disaster heading someone's way he'll speak up. unless of course they're just asking for it. it goes without saying he's quiet. he's got a bit of a cocky smirk, a walk that exudes confidence, a way of handling things that just tells people "i've got this covered" without bowling them out of the way and making him seem like he's asserting his dominance in some way. his laid-back nature shows in everything he does, and it shines in a way that doesn't make him seem melancholy or apathetic. if anything he seems more down to earth and aware of his surroundings. he can be a little strange when it comes to money. he's not fond of the rich. he keeps a pretty strict budget and is pretty frugal, he doesn't like having to buy gifts for others and can't help but feel a little guilty when he receives them. having never had much money growing up, with all the family funds going to his expensive schooling, he doesn't understand how a person can't get just what "roughing it" really means. having to live paycheck to paycheck is just the way he lives, and he enjoys it to a degree. he's a humble guy, and he wouldn't ask for anything more. except maybe more barbeque. he values friends like family. he's loving, and though he sets his goals and well being away from his family life, he takes care of them and watches out for them. just as he expects them to watch out for him. he loves holidays and being able to spend time just doting on each and every one of them, though he can't bring himself to spoiling them in such a way as to resort to goofiness and snuggling. betrayal however is seen as unforgivable. the man holds one hell of a grudge, and he isn't above pulling a few strings to see that you run into trouble for crossing him. he'll tear at a person any way he can think for hurting him or his family. of course, his violent raging is typically kept to a minimum for fear of being caught by law enforcement. still, that's not enough to keep him from landing a couple hits on a person, man or woman, for wronging him. he does seem to put his foot down harder, and a bit more often than he has to. he's awfully stubborn and can be unreasonable on a number of things. he's a strong follower of tradition, but seems to enjoy chaos to a small degree, if only to spice things up for a short amount of time. still, he expects rules to be followed most of the time, and he can get a little irritated when things don't go according to plan because of something stupid. he's aggressive and passionate in everything he does. he puts his heart and soul into everything. the energy and dedication he puts into his projects sometimes makes him come off as angry or frustrated with whatever he's working on, whether he really is or not. he'll use tones, his size, and passive aggressive threats to weaken whoever stands in his way, and when that doesn't work will only push harder. he doesn't let up in his attempts, not matter what he's attempting. when he's on a mission, a person can expect it to be done, and all they can do is pray they're not in the way. he's observant, intelligent, and discerning. he's quick to learn and understand new concepts. he's confident in his skills and isn't afraid to jump feet-first into things, though that may be stupid at the time. everything he says he means. he's a decisive man without regrets, for better or worse. he won't apologize. he'll step on some fingers and toes to get his way. it's survival of the fittest, in his eyes. that's just the way the world is, and there's nothing wrong with that. #ebebeb;]shy was always an only child. he was never granted any siblings, as only a few years after his birth his father divorced his mother and moved away to live with another woman. it took a while for feelings of abandonment to settle in, and his mother did what she could, but it was difficult. to make things even harder on him, while he was perfectly capable of hearing, his mother was completely deaf. growing up in a home where the only sounds he was given were irritated grunts, grumbles, and groans that were supposed to be understood as words and commands, he shut himself off from his mother. she couldn't hear when she called for him like his father had, and she didn't respond like his teacher did, or the kids at school. she would just go about with what she was doing, not hearing him. though it wasn't her fault, it was painful for him, and he began to grow frustrated with not just her, but the entire situation. his teacher, the loving woman she was, encouraged one of the other children to befriend him despite his unsociable attitude. the sweet little nerd was happy to try, and, in having a deaf grandmother that his family cared for, was able to understand shiloh's situation in a way. the two hit it off quickly and were friends almost instantaneously. however, where shiloh was more rambunctious and trouble-seeking, his friend was just a goofy little kid who wanted to spend all his time playing pretend and beating levels on mario. as they grew older, their interests never overlapped, but they still were quite close to each other. their friendship kept shiloh out of trouble, and it kept his dweeby friend from getting pushed around any. he was given the nickname "shyguy" from his oh so clever friend during an afternoon of "mariothonning," and the nickname stuck. of course, no one else ever picked it up. it was his friend's special nickname for him, and shiloh loved it. unfortunately, during the summer of third grade, not long before they had to return to school, his friend's family had to move away. shiloh was left without his childhood friend and the second family he grew up with, and without his father to return home to it left only his deaf mother. it was honestly a relief for him when school started, but he instantly fell in with the wrong crowd. he was readily accepted into a group of bullies and pranksters. really he fit right in. he started getting into fights at school, picking on other children, demanding lunch money, and pulling pranks on the other students. he didn't have the balls to invite his newfound "friends" to his house until fifth grade though, where they would often run amok behind his mother's back due to her inability to hear. during one of their adventures he managed to get mangled by a chihuahua. not one of most glorious moments. they became quite interested in fire. for one of their games they decided to just light things and watch them burn. they did it a number of times before something finally went wrong. he was in sixth grade they had managed to light the rags on one of the shelves, and the flames ate through the wood as they tried to figure a way to put out the fire before it got worse. the shelves ended up collapsing on shiloh, whose calls went unheard as his friends left him and dragged out his mother to help. he'd already managed to wriggle his way free and escape by the time she got there, which was fortunate seeing as how the entire shed was quickly swallowed in fire. he was found hiding on the other side of the house, curled in fetal position, trying not to make any noise. his "friends" didn't bother with him after that. even if they wanted to, his mother had made other plans for him. shiloh was transferred to a military school a few miles south in carlsbad, starting from seventh grade. it took all his mother's scraping to be able to afford the school, but she managed it. she had hoped that giving him stricter guidelines would be helpful to him. he approached the situation casually of course. he played it cool as long as he could with a confident smirk, determined to hang onto his "independent" attitude. all of his acts of resistance were well-countered however, and he found himself breaking down. he became more serious about his studies, though he did so begrudgingly, and readily accepted responsibility where he wouldn't have before. he had trouble fitting in and kept mostly to himself. while he did fine having lunch with the other students and working together as a team, in his downtime he always seemed to be doing something on his own rather than doing something in a group. he was becoming overly wary of being punished for screwing up and kept applying tougher standards to himself. in some ways it paid off, the downside of course being that he began to become overly critical of his work. he sent letters to his childhood friend all the while, but he never got any back. he had sent a single letter to his father, but never got a reply from him either. it was his mother that wrote him. and constantly. for the first time in his life he was feeling close to her, despite the distance. and in his writing, he finally realized what it was he wanted to do. and it sure as hell wasn't join the military. as soon as he graduated he ran to l.a. such a big town being not so far away, he couldn't think of a better place to start on writing news stories. while he checked in with his mother now and then, he kept himself distant, focusing instead on setting up his career. and with a bit of work, it went well for him. with so many other writers in town though, he was having trouble getting a signed contract. he knew he'd just have to keep working at it if that was what he really wanted in the end.[/style] |
