There was a new neighbor. Now, Kyoko usually wouldn't have bothered with new neighbors, but this was a special neighbor. It was a new neighbor that was just across from her! So they would be seeing each other a lot. And wasn't it usually customary for neighbors to introduce one another, or was that just her? She didn't actually do it for any new neighbors since she herself had moved in (and no, she hadn't been greeted by new neighbors until they bumped into each other in the hallway), but they were going to be seeing each other a lot, so why the hell not?
It seemed like today was the day he moved in, although she had been at work earlier in the day, she could visit him now. Kyoko was thinking about just how not to be awkward about this. Because she wasn't sure if it was proper etiquette to just be waltzing into his home to introduce herself.
Ah, well, it was unavoidable that she was going to have to make the first move in this situation, not many people who moved immediately thought of greeting their neighbors or anything. Well, it was pretty much now or tomorrow or the next day, and by that time the opportunity would have passed. She was sure they would be great friends, being neighbors and living near each other and all.
Although wouldn't this technically be intruding on his privacy? Well, Kyoko never really cared about that. She intruding on many people's privacy before, it was just something that came with her job. Knock knock. Supermart bought cookies as a housewarming gift, because Kyoko was unfortunately not as gifted with desserts as she would like to be, and her salary didn't exactly make her the richest person in the world. "Hi!"

To say that he had just moved in was an understatement. He had the movers move in his stuff (which wasn’t much) so by the time he got to the apartment everything was already in the apartment. All he had to do when he got there was go out and buy some cat food for Caprina, and a few things here and there. It was still his first day in the city so he tried to keep his chores short, only staying out long enough to buy cat food and milk for his tea. Dinner was a passing thought and he just decided if he got hungry he would just look up the number to something that delivered and go from there. His main goal was to spend what time he could getting his apartment together, after all he didn’t own that many things to begin with.
What He thought would take a few hours did however go over the time he had expected, mostly due to his tools being in one box and the screws in another. Still once he got most of his boxes unpacked and was able to get his bed, a work desk and bookshelf up in his room. Once done he move on to setting up Caprina’s kitty condo in the living room and anything else that needed up packing. Finally late into the day Vincenzo had successfully unpacked most of his belongings and just had a few boxes left sitting in the hall between the living room and front door. Still he felt good about how much work he got done and was about to sit down and read a book when there was a knock at the door.
Strange, he was expecting anyone but couldn’t help but wonder who in the world could be knocking at his door. Was it the owner? the movers? Little did Vincenzo know that it was just a very friendly but nosey neighbor. He opened the door to see a women with a box of.. were those cookies? Well then, this was new to Vincenzo but he guessed people in L.A. were just a bit more friendlier than New York. He hadn’t even noticed that he had opened his door in just sweat pants and no shirt. “Hi, may I help you?”

Maybe Kyoko should have brought donuts? But that would be kind of selfish, she had no idea if he liked donuts (or cookies, even), and she'd just end up eating a bunch of them, anyways. Her train of thought was all over the place as she waited the wait that usually did follow whenever people were nervous. Especially when introducing themselves to another person and they were just taking forever to respond. Kyoko really wished he wasn't one of those neighbors. He opened the door. And she did raise an eyebrow at him (much as she did try to restrain it). Wow, those were some really nice abs. Really impressive. Those were nice. Although she did feel that, now that she had looked at his attire (or lack thereof), she was intruding on something. After all, this was his own home and he should be comfortable enough to wear whatever he wanted. Plus, he had just moved in. She really should have thought this out a little better. Too late now, now all that was left was trying to work with the current situation at hand. "Sorry, was I intruding? I'm Kyoko, I live across from you. I just wanted to introduce myself and hope you like it here." Insert politeish bow. Most awkward introduction ever, but it would have to suffice. Now, she could just slither back to her apartment and bask in her stupidity. It wasn't like she did that everyday anyways. Maybe another day would have been better. Kyoko was curious as to who the new intruder was, but she was pleasantly surprised. It was no hot woman, but she figured it could be worse. It could have been some old hermit that was crabby, or someone with a noisy kid. This was a nice alternative to that. VINCENZO MORETTI

Not a single thought crossed his mind about the way he was dressed. After all, he was home relaxing and should be allowed to be dressed however he liked. Still that did mean that answering his door shirtless could cause a problem or two, but then again it could be worse. Sure he was shirtless, but even Vincenzo could be a little vain with knowing that he was both fit and good looking. “No not at all, I was just finishing up unpacking and was about to take a break. Vincenzo, A pleasure to meet you. Having some random woman at his door to greet him was new for Vincenzo and he was finding himself very confuse and not all too sure what he should be doing.
Though standing all day outside his door might not be the best of ideas. ”Mi dispiace” Without even thinking his italian slipped right out, he was trying to say that he was sorry. He felt like he was being rude in keeping her in the hall for so long and decided that maybe he should invite her in. ”I’m sorry, Kyoko you said? Please come in, I’m sorry I’ve never really made an attempt to get to know my neighbors before so I’m pretty new to this.” He moved away from the doorway and headed into the apartment, leaving Kyoko to follow him and close the door behind her.
”Would you like some tea? Please make yourself comfortable, the kitchen table is this way” Speaking of the kitchen there was a very unhappy cat on the floor of said kitchen. The second Caprina spotted the woman behind her owned the cat fled to the nearest room, which happened to be the living room, where she found her kitty condo and hid.

Kyoko took a moment to berate herself in her head. The hell was she doing? This was a horrible introductory and she was mostly at a loss for words. His really nice abs had startled her a bit. It caught her off guard. "Oh, there's no need to invite me in - okay." Well, he was offering so she may as well. She gave herself a mental note to invite him to her little apartment complex one day (after she cleaned up the pig sty that she called her home) and return the favor and be hospitable. Wasn't it supposed to be the other way around? She invite him to her own home and try to get him situated, something like that? She hadn't really studied the etiquette of housewarming. Hell, her biggest contribution to this whole ordeal was the box of cheap sugar cookies she had brought along with her (next time, she would get him something better. Like those donuts she was wondering about earlier - surely he liked donuts). But she followed him inside anyways, closing the door behind her. Well, the lodgings were typical of a someone who had literally just moved in today. Boxes strewn every which way and half-unpacked things. Honestly, what had Kyoko been expecting? He had worked fairly quickly with the little amount of time he did have today. "Honestly, I am a little new with the neighbor thing too." The apartment pretty much mirrored her own, so she essentially knew where everything was foundation wise (embarrassingly she faced a moment of confusion when she was puzzled over Vincenzo's lack of having the same thing as her. "Oh, you have a cat? What's its name?" It looked kind of cute if not very spoiled (that... house thingy was just over the top to her opinion). "What kind of tea do you have?" Kyoko placed her box of cookies on the kitchen counter. VINCENZO MORETTI

Vincenzo watched as his cat made a dash to hide, he almost felt kind of bad since he knew how much she disliked guest. Still Vincenzo was not about to just stop letting people come over if that was what they wanted, and after all she needed to learn to deal with it, what if he got another girlfriend? ”Her name is Caprina, a bit shy, but she’ll wander on over once she realizes that you aren’t here to take anything that might be her’s.” Which was true enough, even though Caprina wasn’t about to trust anyone that came into the house she was willing to put up with them after a while, and she couldn’t help but be curious.
Vincenzo shuffled around in his cabinets searching for where he placed the teapot, then once he found that he had to search for the tea. He pulled down three boxes, he didn’t have much but hoped that she liked tea, if not, well he could see if he had something else for her. ”At the moment I really don’t have much but I have green, herbal, and black tea. Would any of these be ok with you? I haven’t really done much shopping, but I also have milk and bottled water in the refrigerator.” He hoped that what he offered would be fine, he didn’t want to seem like a bad host, but he really hadn’t been expecting visitors.
And the he remembered about his shirtlessness, he left her too look at the boxes and pick out which one she would want. He left her know that he would be right back, left to get a tank top and then returned to the kitchen. ”So what will it be?” He changed clothes just for her, see he was a nice guy.

"She looks cute." To be honest, Kyoko wasn't a cat person. Or a dog person. Or really a pet person. The most responsibility she probably ever had in the pet spectrum was fish, and that was probably when she was five and her parents took care of it instead of herself, so she wasn't sure if that even counted. Also she still had that feeling she was intruding, as that cat seemed to not like her presence very much (but if Vincenzo inviting her in, then that couldn't be the case, right?). Kyoko also really liked this neighbor - he was a tea person. And Kyoko liked tea, for the most part. She had switched to coffee in the mornings purely due to her all around laziness in the morning and the need for a boost in the morning. Tea just wasn't up for that job, although it was an enjoyable drink. And a required drink for whenever she was visiting her parents, but she didn't mind that much. "That's fine, thanks." She opted for green tea. Which was the only tea she had in her house, and the box was still full after her last trip to her parents. Vincenzo came back with a shirt on. And Kyoko couldn't help but think - if he one of those guys? The ones that showed off their abs at any given moment, subconsciously or not? Because that shirt did nothing to cover up anything. "Green tea, please. Would you mind if I made it - I feel bad for intruding. I don't want to make you feel obligated or anything." Because manners. She had those, right? VINCENZO MORETTI

Was he the type to show off his abs without meaning to? Maybe, just maybe, not that he meant to but it seemed to be a thing with him. Maybe thats who some women would just come on to him, maybe they thought he was trying to get their attention. When in fact Vincenzo was just being himself and not looking to flirt. Not that he wasn’t capable of it, but he had already dealt with one recent break up, he didn’t need one so close in his future. He was a nice guy, and wanted that special someone in his life, but until he could figure out the secret to women that was just not going to happen.
Vincenzo took a seat at the small kitchen table and shrugged. ”I don’t have a problem doing it, but if you insist then you are free to make it. If you need anything let me know, the teapot is already on the elective stove.” Vincenzo didn’t mind her making it but felt bad that she felt that she was intruding. After all he had let her in, if he didn’t want her here all he had to do was tell her no at the door. ”Really Kyoko, it really is not a problem. You're not intruding, I wasn’t really doing anything but taking a break from unpacking.” Vincenzo was fine with her and his cat was starting to deal with it too, the feline slowly moved from her kitty condo to move around the room divider between the kitchen and living room. She eyed the two humans, really debating hard if it was worth it to show herself. The cat meowed once to get Vincenzo’s attention.
”Caprina welcome to the party, would you like something?” Vincenzo pointed to a cabinet and asked. ”Kyoko, there is a bag of cat treats in there, mind grabbing it for me?” If he got up to get them then he would only be getting in Kyoko’s way.

Kyoko felt rather bad for thinking this, but in her mind he wasn't really Vincenzo, but the abs guy. The next-door neighbor, abs guy. Then again this was his house, so he could flaunt his abs all he wanted, if only to his cat and any intruder that happened to knock on his door. Which was currently her, though to be perfectly honest she was more concerned about the intruder part than the abs part. "No, let me make it. I brought cookies, but I'll make the tea as well. After all, I don't want you to think LA just has crazy neighbors who suddenly barge in." Her chuckle was good natured as she prepared the tea. She felt a little better now that he had said so - but still. She should have given him so heads up or prior notice before just coming in. Next time she came, she'll keep that in mind. There was going to be a next time, she was sure. They would be epic neighbors, surely. Unrelated, he had a larger tea collection than she did. Kyoko needed to fix that - what kind of Asian was she, only having green tea? She had a few different kinds, but it was still only green tea. That was probably what peeved her off the most, but that was a silly thing that really didn't mean much. She was focused on the tea more or less she didn't notice Caprina until she meowed, and even then only threw a passing glance before going back to said tea. The cat was cute, but the tea was more important (suffice to say, Kyoko took her tea very seriously). It had to be prepared a specific way. Even if it was just hot water and tea leaves in cups. She was just about done when Vincenzo asked for the cat treats. "Yeah, of course." She moved towards the cabinet and grabbed the cat treats after looking at the labels. And then looked at the cat. "Hi Caprina - I promise I'm not here to steal away your master's attention. At least, not a lot of it." VINCENZO MORETTI

Vincenzo took the bag of treats from her, it was a new bag so it took a second to open. Caprina took that time to move out into the open and onto the kitchen table. She kept away from the box of cookies finding more interest in whatever her master had in his hands. The woman in the room still bother Caprina, but the cat was a spoiled thing and could ignore Kyoko if it meant she got treats for it. She sat there purring in a way so that she was begging Vincenzo to hurry up and pay attention to her.
Vincenzo opened the back of seafood flavored treats and took one out to give to Caprina. She meowed and then took the meal, getting fed a total of three treats before Vincenzo closed the bag and told her that she had enough. After all he wasn’t going to allow her to become a fat kitty. ”Sometime I wished that she could understand, she’s never been good with other people, not sure why but maybe she does think I might be stolen away.” Vin really had no clue why his cat was the way she was, but at least she wasn’t a dog. Protective dogs attacked, cats were not as much trouble.
”Hows the tea coming?” He asked as he looked at the box of cookies, pulling on out when he realized what kind they were. For a guy that was not into donuts or other sweets, he did like sugar cookies. He took a bite and then commented on the taste. ”Pretty good cookie, thanks for bring them over.”

Water boiled, tea was ready. She poured it and served it, one cup for herself and one cup for Vincenzo, the abs guy. She had to admit the nickname was a bit much - but it fit so well. Kyoko had tried to express her sentiments towards the cat who could not understand her, but obviously they were ignored. What else did she expect from a cat? For it to respond somehow? That was impossible. "Stolen away? Not surprised, actually, just look at your abs." When he basically flaunted them around, who in their right mind wouldn't steal him away? Actually, Kyoko was pretty much in her right mind and had pretty much no intention to steal him away, so that argument wasn't exactly true. But should it be some other woman, surely that would be the case? "So I think I can understand the way your cat feels." Although it was kind of comical to think of the cat being jealous. "Mmm, thanks. I didn't really have time to make cookies, or the resources, so I hope you don't mind if they were store bought." Honestly, all Kyoko did was buy a random box of cookies - she had no idea how they tasted, she just picked them up on the way back from work. "Mind if I take one?" VINCENZO MORETTI

He took the cup that was offered and placed it on the table on a near by coster. He liked tea, but for not most of his attention was on the sugar cookies and his nosy cat. Oh and the comment about his abs. He rubbed the back of his next in a nervous habit, not really knowing how to respond. ”Yea.. I seem to get that a lot, Its not like I try to.. well draw the attention it just happens.” Really, he liked being fit so there was no way he was going to get fat just to lose some attention, he would deal with it, but still wondered why it was always just his abs. It was a pattern that he only noticed recently thanks to Kyoko, women always seem to make a comment about his chest or even try to touch him. Maybe he should learn to use this attention to his advantage, maybe use his abs to find the perfect woman. Would that work? He had no clue but it was worth a shot.
”Store bought is fine, I’m just sorry I didn’t have more to offer you to drink, I haven’t really had time to go out shopping yet.” He took the first sip of his tea, nodding when he realized that it was done very well. ”Very good tea, you know your way around making a good cup of tea.” Which added marks to her being a nice fit for his future housewife, not that he was looking or anything. ”Take one, two, as many as you like, no way I can finish this by myself.” He took one more and then sat back to relax with his cup of tea. ”So Kyoko, have you lived in L.A. for long?” A simple question, but it got the ball rolling.

And maybe you could put a shirt on when you greet people. Because honestly, what person answered the door shirtless? Vincenzo, obviously, but that one little folly seems to have earned him Kyoko's nickname for him. Which, honestly, could be worse. And Kyoko didn't make a habit of actually calling people by their nicknames aloud, they were just a visual representation of who they were and how she actually remembered him. Her first impression was simply his abs (which were a lot better than most people's abs, even her abs), and that's what he would forever be known as for her. Whether that was a good thing really was up to him. So maybe that was the reason that she didn't quite believe him when he said he really didn't mean to. Then again, it could just be in his nature to be oblivious. "Though I'm sure... many people notice your... charming smile?" Did he even have a charming smile, Kyoko honestly didn't notice. She just said whatever came to her mind at the moment besides 'impressive abs', and that was what it happened to be. Hopefully he did have a charming smile, else he'd just think she were lying, and she didn't want to give him that impression. Even if she was. "Oh no! Don't think that, I like tea. Your collection's actually a lot bigger than mine, regrettably. I need to stock up on more types of tea, but I only drink it on occasion. It's nice drinking it instead of coffee. Plus, you just got here, so I wouldn't expect you to go and get things straightaway." She blew the steam off of her cup before drinking a bit. He seemed like a nice guy with an shirt problem (or rather, the lack of wearing a shirt), but his conversation was nice. Especially if he kept complimenting her like that. "It's no big deal, I've made tea ever since I was very little, so I would be surprised if my tea wasn't good. Oh, I wouldn't want to take any of your cookies... but okay." Kyoko had a bit of a sweet tooth, could anyone really blame her? She only took one, after all, this was supposed to be a gift for Vincenzo and not herself. Even if sugar cookies were pretty good, she still preferred donuts. She supposed it was any cop's weakness, and if anything she admitted she particularly embraced this particularly police stereotype. Because there were always donuts at the station (usually first come first serve basis, though). "Oh, LA's been my home since birth. Though I've been living in this area for six or so years. I would ask you the same, but it's kind of obvious the answer seeing you just moved here. Where'd you come from? I don't want your life story, but if we're going to be neighbors, it's good to get to know each other, right?" VINCENZO MORETTI

Maybe she was right but what did he know? He had a six pack, women liked his abs and he wasn’t about to change. Maybe it was just the probably of the first impression, he had opened the door shirtless after all. Maybe, just maybe Kyoko thought that this was how he always dressed, when it was just a in house thing. He’d have to see her again at a better time, maybe during the day before or after work just so she could get a better look at how he normally dressed. With his luck, she’ll probably never see it, he tended to work long hours so hs timing would probably always be off. Still it would be the thought that counted and he would try.
He also had no problem with her taking a cookie or two, since he did tell her to help herself. Then again maybe she wasn’t the cookie type. He liked them enough, and really did feel that the cookies went well with drinking tea, and even though she wasn’t a big drinker, she had still done well. ”A a lifer, well I’ll have to have you show me around one day.” He was trying so very hard to be social. ”Well I lived in New York for a while great place, but I moved here for work reasons. One city to the other, not a bad change though.” He looked over a the wall clock, he hadn’t really me too, but he had a thing about keeping time. It was getting late, not that he had other plans, but he still had a lot to do tomorrow and needed an early sleep.
”Listen Kyoko, I hate to do this two you, but its getting a bit late, and I still have a lot to do.” He really did feel bad, he was basically kicking her out.

"Oh, um, I'm a bit directionally challenged." She knew the sights well enough. Kyoko was just... very good at getting lost. She was getting a lot better though - but one would think that after twenty six years living in the same city, she would know how to navigate it. Apparently not. Granted, eighteen of those years had mostly been spent at her house or at the school, and then the route to and fro. And then most times when her parents drove around and brought her along, she was too young, uninterested, or took a nap, because sometimes getting from one side to the other could take a fairly long time. "I could show you the neighborhood, though!" There was nothing particularly interesting in the neighborhood, though. "That's really interesting, New York? I've never been there, but I heard it's a nice place." Mostly for New Year's, she flipped on any given channel and the city was always on her screen. Always. It seemed so cold over there, though. Kyoko wasn't sure if she could handle the cold, living in Los Angeles for as long as she did. No, she probably couldn't even imagine it. She was comfortable living in Los Angeles. She didn't want to move (nor did she think her parents would like it very much. Even if she was an adult, they wanted her close by, overprotecting parents). Her eyes flitted towards the clock. Was it time already? "It is getting late, I should probably sleep. I have work tomorrow anyways, it wouldn't be good to be sleepy on the job." She drank the last of her tea. "It was nice talking to you, though! I'm sure we'll run into each other sooner or later." Seeing as they lived so close to each other, there was no doubt about it. Even if her work hours were a bit wonky. VINCENZO MORETTI

He enjoyed the chat and wouldn’t mind doing it again. He really hated just kicking her out like he was, but he only had a few days till he had to go in to the police department, and until he did he needed to get other things taken care of. He had the internet people to deal with, and so many other things.
”Really sorry about that, but yes I have some things I need to do as well, and a early sleep would help.” He walked her over to the door and opened it tp let her out, once again thanking her for the cookie.
”Yea I’ll probably be seeing you around, I don’t start work for another few days, but we’ll have to chat again some time.” and with that he closed the door behind her. Decided to to take a shower and then get some sleep for the next day.
