All-nighters were a thing that teenagers did to cram before their final exams. College students were known for taking medicines like Adderal to stay up and study all night for that big test the next day. Paperwork at the office didn't always complete itself by 5:00pm every day, either.
But Leila was not used to having an all-nighter, and fatigue was clawing away at her sanity. In fact, she hadn't pulled an all-night in probably eight years. That being said, her productivity at work was abyssmal. Where it normally took her about 15-20 minutes for an oil change, while taking her time, it was nearing an hour before she finished with the first. Thankfully she hadn't a single person in line waiting, so she could take all the time she really needed. But there were several other vehicles that need her attention, and she wasn't doing a very good job of providing.
Her office clerk even noticed how groggy Leila was, despite her lack of noticing most anything but her cell phone and Solitaire. As soon as the mechanic finished with the oil change, she walked into the clerk's office and was caught off-guard by the odd scent of coffee. Normally she would have to ask for coffee, but today she seemed to be on top of things. All the young woman could do was to smile and thank her as she fixed herself a piping hot cup of coffee, complete with four containers of creamer and three packets of sugar. She wanted to go sit down and rest, but her eyes told her that it was a bad idea. Instead, she stood in the empty lounge area and paced around, hoping to keep herself awake. There was no point attempting to initiate a conversation with Gina - she was about as interesting as toilet paper.
But she needed to do something to keep herself awake. After all, it was only 3:00pm.
