No, Rhiannon hadn't been predicting that they would, but all things considered, she supposed that she really should not have been surprised at all. They already talked, why not just make them, oh, you know, hydras too? Well, crap, that took just simply lopping their heads off out of the equation. Slicing them into snake steaks probably wouldn't work very well either, unless they wanted like fifty more snakes per snake. What was the other way you went about killing things that didn't die by decapitation? Smashing them? Well, that was what you did with cockroaches (she would have gagged at the thought had she not been more worried about other things), but these were... snakes. Did cockroach-killing methods apply to snakes too?
Rhiannon did, however, feel her stomach churn when she realized that someone was being dragged out of the shed. Dead. Because if there wasn't any struggling from the person wrapped up in the snake, they were probably dead. Or knocked unconscious. Which meant that they would be dead within the next few minutes anyways. She refused to look for much longer than that, refused to let herself absorb more details of that part of this scene in particular. No, because she really didn't need to fixate on the thought that someone she knew had died, even if she had only known them for all of maybe an hour tops. No time to think about that, because there were three snakes making a beeline in this direction. Rhiannon nudged at Oskenon:ton with her elbow while trying to signal with one of her weed whackers at Kyu-Sik; she would have simply used her hands, but she had a weapon in both now.
But run. They had to run, because she doubted that anyone here wanted to be snake food. Except that it seemed that the head snake had changed his mind? And was now focusing the attention on getting Joze? Why? Because her arm was on fire? And what the hell was an elementalist? Not that she particularly cared about the last part right now, but if there happened to be a straggling snake, she supposed that the only choice everyone had was to converge upon it and instead of simply decapitating, cut it to pieces and... the guys still had shoes. Maybe they could go ahead and do a stomp-dance on the dices of snake meat then -- wait a minute, how was Joze talking? Rhiannon tried to speak, but still, nothing came out. What the hell? How was Joze talking, like she did just now? Was setting your arm on fire the key? Hopefully not. She kind of did need both of her arms for a long time to come...
It also didn't help that whoever was trying to call her was still trying to call her. That terrible, stupid, awful, shitty, insert-list-of-other-negative-adjectives-here ringtone had already finished looping once, and not even fifteen seconds later, it started over again. Who the hell was trying to call her, hadn't they seen on Facebook that she was going to be occupied tonight? She hadn't expected to be occupied fighting giant snakes and seeing people die and seeing people set themselves on fire -- speaking of which, how was Joze not on the ground screaming in pain, her arm was burning -- but that still counted as occupied. Extremely occupied, she would even dare to say. So who in their right mind was trying to call her? Whoever it was, they had better stop soon because dammit, she hated that song. Nor was she any sort of fan of the person who sang it. Yes, she needed to exact vengeance on whoever had screwed around with her ringtone settings if she lived. Oh, yes, so much vengeance.

[atrb=cellpadding, 0, true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style,width: 450px; background-color: #121212;]words: 600 tag(s): Stage 5 date: May 2nd Today won’t come again. At some point, the time has already… Okay, slashing at the snakes was no longer an option. There were more now. Maybe that's how snakes worked in myths and fairly tales, but this moment to him wasn't either. He would've just kept believing that this had to be some sort of horrendous hallucination had it not been for what he saw next. There was a person being dragged from the shed. Veronica hadn't followed them out. Had she been too scared or had she been too slow to follow after them? Kyu-Sik wasn't sure, but it wasn't something that rested easily on his mind. If the reality of the bizarre situation hadn't already been clear, the dead body of someone he had just been talking to flashed the red lights. When he noticed Rhiannon signal him to keep moving, he just quietly nodded and kept following. Not that he had much choice about the quiet. More running was in order, he knew it. However, in the back of his mind he was also going over the possibilities before them. They couldn't just keep running forever, they weren't going to make any progress. There was a lot to be said for a human's running endurance versus an animal's, but these weren't normal snakes and at any moment they could be dead. Eventually they'd have to take some kind of action. Cutting was not going to work and unfortunately the only one who had a weapon really good for smashing hadn't followed them out of the shed until she had been dragged out dead. He really should've grabbed the shovel instead of the garden hoe. What else did the garden even have to offer them? They couldn't hide… There were random outdoor furniture pieces and a few decorative rocks near some flower beds. Even if they could use those, they'd have to get to them first. That's when he now heard Joze yelling. Not screams of fear or pain, as most people tended shout when they were literally on fire. She was egging the larger snake on for reasons he couldn't fathom. She wasn't dead yet, so she must have had some crazy idea of what she was doing. What was more important to him in that moment was the only thing he could make sense of. She was yelling. They hadn't been able to do that since the snakes had begun their pursuit. When he tried to speak himself, though, there was still nothing. The idea wasn't really fully formed in his mind, but a vague theory was starting to flicker. He already knew they needed to put more distance between themselves and their attackers, but there was a reaffirmation of that that pushed him to act. Now was as good of a time as any. He hadn't stopped running, but he glanced over and swung his arm back for the pesticide wand. Then, he sprayed the mist of pesticides on the snakes that remained. It wouldn't kill them, but if he could temporarily blind them so that they could gain more distance, then good. After spraying, he stopped in his steps for just a brief moment and took a swing at the closest snake. Not to chop off its head this time. This time he was just using the garden hoe like a golf club to hopefully knock the nearest back more. Did he actually succeed or knock it that far? He had no idea, he didn't wait to see. It was right back to running after that. He wanted to stay with the other two and get as far away from the snakes as he could. |

It was difficult to tell with the face of a giant cobra but the largest snake was clearly enraged. The taunting of the tiny blonde did not help his mood any. She should not have been able to talk, unfortunately even with their powers, they did have their limits. It seemed that by climbing onto the shed she was able to escape their powers and regain the power of speech.
And now the snake general had a decision to make. Did he send his minions to capture the elementalist first or did he chase after the other escaped prisoners? Unfortunately for the general, he was too blinded by rage and instead of thinking clearly began to approach the shed. The insolent girl would die slowly and painfully.
The flaming arrow came down on the five snakes in front of the shed quickly. The oil that had been been spread previously served as fuel for the now quickly growing fire. The five snakes, including the Snake General, hissed in pain. They could have put out the fire by removing the oxygen from the flames but the oil had allowed the fire to spread much too quickly for the snakes to control. They burned to death. As the Snake General took its last breathes, he cursed the short blonde. Even if he would not do it he hoped that she died in a manner as painfully as he had.
With their leader dead, the two snakes chasing the other escaped prisoners paused, unsure of whether to help save their fallen leader or continue chasing their enemies. They were not as intelligent as the General but they were smart enough to know when to retreat. The remaining two snakes slid into the forest of impeccably bushes and trees. It is unknown if they would ever return.

Joze had just invited what would probably be death right up to her. As he came towards her, she shot an arrow directly at the snakes. After that, things happened in a blur she could barely remember. A blaze of fire went up, and she was sure that the snakes were dead now, and that they would not be regrowing out of tails or heads. Only she didn't pause to check, since the fire was gaining towards the little wooden shed. She hopped off, onto a convenient little table near the side of the shed. Then she took off running, just in case there were some she missed. Looping around, she hoped to join the others.
"Are you guys alright? I'm sorry, I should have warned you." Well, there was no saving this garden, all up in flames. She just hoped to make a very speedy getaway without being seen. "How about let's leave. Right now." It wouldn't be good for her to be charged with arson. Well, with them or not, she was leaving. Right now. Back into the safety of her room. Run away and hope there was no evidence left behind. Yes, hopefully the fire burned everything. |

tagged: Moose. time: April 25th, 2012. 11pm. speech: Oskenón:ton. notes: - - -. Deep breaths, the air was thin and all he needed to do was focus. He wanted to breath, but it was slowly getting better. Was it? He wasn’t even sure as he took a couple more breaths, everything slowly lightening up until he sort of felt like he could breathe again. Now, what was happening? Oh, right, everything on fire was what was happening. The snakes were burning all around him and the girl on fire was still up there, shooting arrows at things and what the hell was happening?
Everything felt… fine. The snakes were dead; they looked like charred hoses littering the grass and did that really happen? Another few breaths as he brought things back into focus, letting the chainsaw to his side as the largest one, the general or whatever, completely burned.
”Yeah… Let’s just…” It was over, wasn’t it? He hoped it was. He was exhausted, but he didn’t let the chainsaw fall. It was a hazy sort of grip, it was there as he sort of stood in a daze.

She had just lived through that one movie about snakes in a plane or something, except probably not the exact plot, and definitely without the plane. (Not that she had ever seen the movie, but that was a minor detail.) Needless to say, when a good number of the snakes were set ablaze by... were those fire arrows? Rhiannon didn't even know anymore, and to be quite frank, nor did she care anymore as long as it meant that the terrifying snakes would be dead, dead, dead, and...a little more dead.
The fact that Joze hadn't become a human torch as the snakes burnt to a crisp helped too -- she wasn't sure if she could stand seeing a charred corpse version of someone she had just been talking to just earlier in the night. "Yes, leaving would be very nice, thanks." She was done. So done. Rhiannon did sigh, however, as she glanced at the burning shed. Her ordeal was far from over. She would have to go buy a new phone tomorrow, because the one she had dropped earlier was most definitely beyond fried.

[atrb=cellpadding, 0, true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style,width: 450px; background-color: #121212;]words: 401 tag(s): Stage 5 date: May 2nd Today won’t come again. At some point, the time has already… The garden was officially up in flames, the light from the fire luring Kyu-Sik's eyes back to the scene at the shed. The snakes were burning. Then, just like that, the remaining two beasts slithered off into the greenery. It was only then that the air started returning to them. The first thing he did was loosen his knitted tie and take a few deep breaths, followed by a short cough. He had never appreciated the air in his lungs more than he had at that moment. They were still alive. They were still alive and the sounds of Justin Bieber had ceased. And it was… over? Kyu-Sik glanced all around the area, not really sure of how safe he felt yet. It was mostly due to the fact he felt stunned. How else was he supposed to react after being pursued by magical snakes and seeing an acquaintance was dead? However, when it really seemed like the snakes weren't returning to chase after them, the tall young man finally swung the pesticide sprayer off of his back and left it on the ground. He was more hesitant about losing the hoe, which he kept at his side. The best objective now was to just leave before something else terrible happened. " Right, let's go," he agreed without any hesitation, looking over to see the state of the others. Internalizing the stress of the situation, he was trying to work it out by just thinking of what in the world would be the best thing to do now. Aside from leaving, of course. It was his way of coping. " I'll… call 911 when we get back to the car and think of something to say to them." Assuming that someone hadn't already done so. He wouldn't have felt right just walking away from some dead bodies and a big fire without letting someone know it was happening. Now that they weren't running for their lives it would be fine. However, the emergency call center wasn't going to believe whatever this actual story was and he wasn't going to throw Joze under the bus by saying she was the one who started the fire. He would just have to make something up. For now, he wasn't entirely sure about anything and it was impossible to fully work it out. Kyu-Sik only knew one thing for sure. He wasn't going to any more parties. |
