The wind whipped past, a rushing howling cacophony of noise. It was a strange comfort, he thought. This was a prelude to what was to follow. He felt he way forwards, felling one of his hands slip into emptiness. He smiled, the end was here. This was the place. It was odd. Here he was on a building top, a blind child feeling his way around. If anyone saw this they'd think he was crazy. He slowly got off his feet and kicked the edge of the roof, it was only a few inches high. He placed a foot on it and felt that it was wide enough to stand on. He stepped down and fumbled with his bag. He pulled out his card, and held them close as he set his bag down. He wouldn't need them. His hands slowly trembled as the weight of his actions finally began to sink into him.
He was going to step off the edge, plummet several stories to earth, and sleep forever. A warm comfort, considering what his life had become. He had been lied to by people who he called parents. His friends had left him, and he couldn't bring anyone else into his world. He was just an impressive oddity, a blind psychic. Well he was, until he was fired for not showing up for work for weeks strait. The truth was he was bed ridden from his sorrow, his vision having fully faded away. The murky swimming world he saw had turned white one day, and never faded back. His own immune system was content with chewing his body apart, and his heart was a target, he knew. Has did the doctors.
This was a favor to himself, the medical system, to his parents and to the world. No one would have to waste any time on him, or any money. He wouldn't need charity or pity. People could move on faster and live there lives the way they would if he had never been born. That brought a smile to his lips, he wouldn't be a burden.
He took a step onto the ledge, feeling the wind whip around him, almost calling him forwards. This was it. The final moment. One more step and he would end. Just a mess someone would need to clean, and that was it. He shook, and trembled. He was scared, yes. But this needed to happen. He didn’t want to hurt anyone else, or be a burden. He wanted to just die. Just. Die.
He stepped forward, and felt his foot sink into nothingness, his body quickly following suit. As he fell, his opened his hands, allowing his cards to billow out into the breeze, trailing behind him like leafs from a tree. From below he heard a scream. Someone looked up. He closed his eyes and relaxed.
The end would be here soon.
