Of course, purposes of a bar ranged depending on location, prices and just the owner wanting what from it, but the premise remained the same. Go in, get drunk, come out with a date on your arm, a new business deal or stories of how much you drank. Bars were meant to impress people, no matter how dingy and dirty. There was a reason a lonely person at a seedy bar was considered a loser, after all. A lone person at a nicer bar was just looking for a good night among people of a higher class.
Of course, there were always the special few who came for other purposes. The bar Jun Shi sat in wasn’t high or low; it was that nice, tepid medium that brought in crowds of all sorts. It brought in those of interest and those he couldn’t care less about. To him, a bar was a place to scope and find those who might catch his interest. Not always in a romantic sense, but since he’d met Mirach, his curiousity had turned to human anatomy, and a vivisection or two didn’t hurt. At least, didn’t hurt him.
So he sat at the bar, quietly sipping away at a nice, dark amber rum that he didn’t particularly care for, but the wines here were borderline rancid and he’d been brought up on better. Stronger alcohols were much better at middle class, blue-collar worker bars. Fine wines were for fancy restaurants and sipping places, and vodka was for the seedy places where it didn’t matter and one needed to get the least filthy thing there to clean all the germs off the glass.
Yes, Jun Shi had it down to a sort of science. He let his eyes roam, hopping from one person to another. Now, who would find his attention today?

Got you wrapped around my finger babe You can count on me to misbehave
Claudia was at a loss. She did everything right, everything! She smiled when he told her to, danced when he told her to and has even slept with men for him, If he asked her to jump, she'd ask when and where to and how high but never why. She'd. Do. Anything. For. Him. Yet, still like every other year she found her way to some obscure bar away from all the prying eyes and cameras and drowned away her sorrows with glasses of Long Island Ice Tea. It was always the same with her father on his birthday. She'd send some lavish gift that he'd send back with some kind of excuse. Claudia has probably heard everyone under the sun. The color wasn't right, it didn't fit, I'm allergic to this material but all she ever head was 'you did it wrong once again.' Maybe if it came from her he'd actually accept it. Even if she wasn't here he still loved her more. Claudia left getting drunk at bars to the sad and pathetic but at the moment no description fit her better. She stared aimlessly at the array of drinks behind the bartender as she sipped on her drink. With a sigh she let her gaze wander to the more sober person beside her. "Do you have siblings?" she asked to no one in particular. "I have a twin actually. She's the favorite of the two," Claudia paused, she thought her her words very carefully before continuing. "Might as well be dead to my family yet I will always be second best." She snorted and turned herself back to the bar. "I guess it's karma for actually wanting her dead."25th of May.LAIKA OF GS!

tagged: Claudia Rousseau time: May 25th, 11PM. speech: Jun Shi. notes: - - -. There were some times that people spoke to him first. It wasn’t such a rare occurrence, though they usually started with shy smiles and come-hither looks before they made any sort of moves if they had things on their minds. At a midscale bar, he wouldn’t be surprised if there were both friendly people and people looking for a good time. There was a girl sitting next to him, but he hadn’t taken much interest in her right off the bat.
He raised an eyebrow as she seemed to ask him, or nobody in particular actually, if they had any siblings. What an odd conversations starter. Or perhaps she was just drunk. Yes, maybe just drunk, because as soon as she asked, she proceeded to go off on a rant about favouritism.
But this could prove entertaining, yes. He smiled just a little at the girl, putting his glass down on the counter, but keeping his fingers just slightly around it. Perhaps he’d learn something interesting today. Likely not; little truly interested him these days, but he was willing to try.
”Why yes, I do have a sibling. A brother.” He grinned just a little. Friendly and open, perhaps willing to chat.

A brother? If only she had, had a brother. Life would have been so easy for her. She wouldn't worry about inheritance because, of course, that traditional father of hers would have put him first. At least she would have had her mother. Gosh, this month has not been going well for her. The amount of strangers that know more about her person life than her so-called friends seem to just keep increasing. It did help that she's was never in a sound state of mind when she does ramble. Hopefully, she can drink herself into a stupor and forget this night entirely. "Are the two of you close?" Claudia turned herself towards the stranger slightly and took another sip of her drink. "This is probably one of the stranger conversations someone has started with you." she said chuckling to herself. You usually come to bars to vent about cheating spouses and terrible bosses or you come to take someone home. "If I planned on seducing you I probably would have started with someone more cliche like, 'Do you come often here?'" Beating around the bush was never her forte. Her shoulders fell as she let out a deep sigh. "So, do you come here often?"25th of May.LAIKA OF GS!

It was a sort of languid motion, unhurried, going about his task at hand without a care in the world because this girl was likely starting to get drunk already and this would be hilarious. He went to bars to watch people, but barely ever to actually interact. This girl started it, though.
Such personal questions… She likely wouldn’t remember what she even asked later. ”Why yes, we’re quite close… Twins, actually.” And as some said, twins had a special sort of connection. There was a very mutual, silent respect where they both stood. He understood that Kun Shui was above him in the hierarchy, and in turn, Kun Shui realized that his brother wasn’t as useless as his parents made him seem.
As for that overused, beaten-to-death line, he grinned even wider with a chuckle. ”Ah, not really, actually. I’m not usually a man for bars.”

Well that was to be expected. He seemed to carry himself too well to be the typical bar-goer so that raised the question, "What did bring you here Mr.." His name… She wanted to forgive herself for this. She wanted to say, oh it's a bar you don't ask names, but she does. Every new person is a possible connection to something bigger even if they don't know it. While she shouldn't be networking with more than a few alcoholic drinks in her system, it was worth a shot. Claudia set her glass on the table and cocked her head slightly to the side. "It seems my tea has taken away my manners." It was a joke, not a very good one but she had tried. Small talk usually came easy to her so she couldn't understand how her tipsy mind can't get a handle on it. "I'm Claudia Rousseau." Last names aren't really a commonplace at a bar but too late now. It wasn't like he'd recognize the name. Her family wasn't small but they aren't as recognizable as the Gates family. 25th of May.LAIKA OF GS!

He grinned a little again, lazy and catlike as he leaned back against the bar, a metaphorical tail swishing back and forth in the air. Mr? Of course, Mr. Well, no, not really. He was a gentleman by title and by thought, but even Kun Shui would’ve sighed if he caught him calling himself a gentleman in front of others.
”Oh, no need for a Mr. Just call me Little Phoenix.” A little firebird, all fluffed up and pecking around at a bar, looking for nothing and something at the same time.
”Claudia Rousseau… What a nice name, for such a nice lady.” Oh yes, Jun Shi was quite a bit of a flirt, especially in an environment like this.
