TIME STAMP» May 14th, 11AM | TAGS» Elaine | WORD COUNT» 322 | NOTES» Heeeere we go! ;; _____________________________________________ Ah.... Little Tokyo.
There was so much culture in this one section of the city. Seraphina found that refreshing, and places like this had been normal hangouts for her ever since she was old enough to head out alone. She didn't bring anything with her this time; the reason being that she wasn't planning to shop. No, this visit was simply for people watching and creative thinking, but she had to admit she felt relatively 'naked' without her bag or instrument. Shrugging off the thought, she turned her golden eyes toward the crowds of people, a hand drawn to her cheek as she began to lose herself in thought.
As a child, she had grown accustomed to the rustic architecture and relative silence of the small French town. Family owned vinyards dotted the outskirts of rural roads, and common sights were bakeries and cafés... Sera should have known they couldn't live that way for long. A man with a job like her father's needed to be where the people were, and... they just weren't there. It wasn't like she particularly missed her hometown, though. She instead opted to think of it as her first sample of one of the many different ways groups of people chose to coincide.
But, boy were things different here!
Because her family came to this city, she was given an opportunity to learn a new language and interact with people of countless different lifestyle choices. She realized she preferred things to be different on a day to day basis. In fact, she began to make it a POINT not to do things exactly the same every day. Routine dulls the mind, after all. But, for Sera, that wasn't the main motive. She just wanted to see everything, as unrealistic as that sounds.
Standing there in that noisy, high traffic shopping district, the pyrotechnician chuckled to herself. She really was in her own little world.

the city is at war bless the young and rich with designer drugs and designer friends Elaine had gone to school. She did. She really did.
Well, she stay at the school for like two minutes before taking off. Screw classes, there were some things that were more important than her actual education. Those things being anything concerning Sound Fuse. She had loved the Japanese band since the end of time, and there was a very important, must-own copy of a limited edition CD that she had to - had to - buy! And she needed it today. It came out today and she figured Little Tokyo would have it, so school was definitely not on her mind.
She'd call in a favor or something. But her dad would probably find out anyways, and she'd get in so much trouble... But this was more important. Elaine cared abut this more than her life. She needed it badly, so badly that she would drag it to hell and back to get it. It also came with a character design jacket and those were a must have. It was an exact replica of one of the outfits that the lead singer had worn in one of his music videos and and...
Just thinking about it made her excited. But she was supposed to be at school, so she had to keep a low profile. Go in, purchase things, get out and deposit into the safety of her room. This was worth ditching. Hopefully she could somehow hide it from her father for at least a little while to avoid extremely severe punishment. And hopefully by then she'd have a passable excuse that wasn't something like wanting to buy something from her absolute favorite band and ditch school because of it.
She was looking occasionally back over her shoulder on her trek to Little Tokyo that she had crash collision into someone. "Oh. Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-" And from what she felt, it was a fairly hard bump from her side. She wasn't paying attention. She needed to make it up to this person, whoever it was, and then she could shop for Sound Fuse merchandise with a guilt-free mind. ____________ fulfills challenge: character must make a heartfelt wish

TIME STAMP» May 14th, 11AM | TAGS» Elaine | WORD COUNT» 536 | NOTES» xxx _____________________________________________ Just as a fond memory from her childhood came to mind - one she had turned back to often - Seraphina was torn from her thought process by a sudden sensation of falling. But, was she really falling? Or, did she simply think she was? Regardless of the answer, she took a few short steps to steady herself before blinking, glancing at the girl who had no doubt crashed into her. She paused for a moment, thinking deeply as she always did, and rather than allow herself to get upset over the accident, she eventually just loosed a small laugh. "Oh, you needn't worry yourself, ma chère." she assured her with a small smile. It was actually a pretty humerous occurance - being the one knocked into rather than being the one to knock into someone else. Though, in all honestly, it was just as much her fault as it was the girl's. She was hardly keeping aware of her surroundings. "Had it not been you, it would only have been a matter of time before I'd have collided with someone else." The idea made her chuckle a bit, mostly because it was true.
Now that she had been pulled from her spot in her memory banks, she was more perceptive to what was going on around her. Turning her eyes to the sky, she could gather from the sun's position that it was near noon. It hadn't been so long since she had arrived, but what confused her most was this young stranger. Surely, the schools had no reason to close today, lest there had been some sort of emergency. Oh, but she could understand. It wasn't as if she hadn't played her fair share of hooky in highschool when she deemed something else of more importance. If she had a child of her own, she might have felt inclined to ask the girl why she was skipping, and try to convince her to go back. She didn't have that care-taker's drive, however, and was much more interested in possibly talking with the girl a bit than ruining her day by being a killjoy.
"Come to do a bit of shopping?" she questioned with a quick wink. Seraphina didn't peg her as the type to only come to such a place for the ambience. But, she'd been wrong before. Upon studying her a tiny bit more, however, she definitely got the feeling she was really itching to buy something in particular. Sera wouldn't know exactly what, as she didn't keep up with any of those kinds of things anymore. Nevertheless, she was familiar with the feeling. Perhaps she'd not be able to hold her in conversation for long. But, an introduction was in order at the very least, though, right?
"I am Seraphina." she said as she extended a hand. "Most feel more at ease calling me Sera." Another smile graced her visage as she met eyes with the girl. Why she felt the need to strike up a chat with someone she'd bumped into in the street - quite literally - she'd never know. Some people just... sparked her interest.

the city is at war bless the young and rich with designer drugs and designer friends Surprisingly enough, the person didn't react with anger like she had expected. Which was probably a good thing because Elaine would have been angry herself and then it would have been a whole verbal brawl - but this was good. Very. "Sorry for that, really."
The woman had, however, been right about how she was shopping. And Elaine had really been trying to be discreet about it - what revealed it? Her age? She needed more training, that was for sure. Maybe she was just radiating excitement. She wasn't the best at being secretive. "Yeah, some shopping - what gave it away?" She couldn't stop from smiling sheepishly. It probably wasn't long before she figured the woman would put two and two together (if she hadn't already, that is). But hopefully she wouldn't try to convince her to go back, because Sound Fuse was way way way more important.
Elaine took the hand offered to her. "I'm Elaine. Nice to meet you. What are you doing here?" She was genuinely curious. She was definitely not as observant or perceptive as her new friend here (was it too early to consider her a friend? Maybe acquaintance was a better term), that was for sure. At least it gave her an assessment on what to focus on so that she could surpass her brothers.
She noticed there was a lot. "If you're not busy, do you want to come with? I always like shopping with people better than alone."

TIME STAMP» May 14th, 11AM | TAGS» Elaine | WORD COUNT» 325 | NOTES» xxx _____________________________________________ Seraphina dismissively waved a hand at Elaine's second apology. Really, it was fine. Sera had far worse collisions than that many a time in her past. She did suppose, however, that bumping into people in the literal sense didn't happen as often to most people as it did to her. No, it more than likely happened to her most of all. But... still. No harm done.
Then came the girl's first question, and Sera really didn't have an answer. She simply observed, and the reasoning was done subconscously. It came from years of watching how people acted. Humerously, Sera was positively awful at figurng out most anything else, making things much harder for herself than they should be. Like this question, for example. She was totally over-thinking it. It might well have been rhetorical! That was okay in her opinion, however. She understood what she wanted to understand, so the rest did not matter. Well, she WISHED it didn't, but things weren't always so simple.
As Elaine shook her hand, Sera gave a dip of her head paired with a smile. "Enchantée- er... that is to say, it is a pleasure to meet you, as well." Releasing Elaine's hand, she nodded at her second inquiry, having a definitive response, this time. "Ah, nothing in particular. I am simply here to observe." She supposed that might have sounded weird, but to her it was normal. Rolling her shoulders in a shrug, she blinked as Elaine spoke again. Incapable of restraining the smile that showed after, she chuckled a bit, shaking her head. "Non, I am not busy at all. I wouldn't mind accompanying you. It IS nice to have someone to talk to." Sure, people watching was fun, and her thoughts were more than enough to keep her entertained a majority of the time. But, it was always a pleasure to meet someone who doesn't mind your company.

the city is at war bless the young and rich with designer drugs and designer friends At least she caught on the French. Elaine was observant enough for that - actually, it was just blatantly obvious. The woman did seem nice, on the plus side. Which was the reason that Elaine offered to spend her day off with her. It wasn't common practice for her to ask strangers on the street to accompany her in shopping. But she had head-on collided into her, so maybe this was just her way of saying sorry and making up for it. That, and she didn't like shopping alone, normally.
Observe. Right. No wonder Sera knew she was shopping, she was observing. But even she thought it was weird that someone was just simply 'observing', whatever the heck that meant, anyways. Elaine didn't comment on it though, people could do what people wanted and it wasn't technically much of her concern what they trifled themselves with. She was fairly happy with the fact that she would indeed have a shopping partner in tow with her. What luck! What fun this would be! "Yeah, it is, isn't it?!" Although Elaine would be talking her ear off in no time. So it wouldn't really be talking, it would be a one-sided conversation.
"There's just this really amazing band out there and I've just got to get a CD by them. I need it. Ah! Perhaps you've heard of them? Sound Fuse?" A Japanese band - some might argue a boy band, but there was always that one person no one knew about. But, well, they were just sooo amazing. There were actually quite a few posters around Little Tokyo with them on it. So Sera would at least have heard of it, from that observing thing she did.
"But if not, that's okay. I'm sure wherever we go will have some kind of sampling thingy - you can listen then." Of course, Elaine never did consider what Sera wanted, thinking that surely she did want to know, and she was curious, right?

TIME STAMP» May 14th, 11AM | TAGS» Elaine | WORD COUNT» 302 | NOTES» xxx _____________________________________________ Smiling at Elaine's enthusiastic reaction to her response, she giggled a little bit, delighted to be able to help brighten the girl's day to some extent. Unfortunately, Sera didn't find herself really listening to music all too often. She more or less just used it as background noise while she did other things. She couldn't really stand total silence, actually, so music was almost always playing when she was at home. She just never paid attention to what music. That's not to say she doesn't have songs that she likes in particular. But, she was more into musical artists like... Florence and the Machine, and others of that nature. So, at that thought, she shook her head in response to Elaine's question, showing a look of slight regret. "I have probably read the name somewhere, as it does sound familiar." she admitted. "However, I can't say for sure that I've heard any of their music."
Elaine had brought up a good point afterward, though - about the sample. "Maybe so." she agreed with a nod. Sera wasn't apposed to giving the band a try, especially given Elaine's enthusiasm for them. That must have meant they were a relatively good group. Though, maybe that wasn't the best assumption to make, looking at all the other things girls raved about. But, it hardly mattered. She didn't have anything on her to go shopping with, regardless, so if she DID wind up liking the band, she'd have to come back another time to buy anything of theirs. She was only here to keep the girl company, now.
At that point, Seraphina had begun walking toward the shops, glancing at Elaine as she did so. "Care to lead the way?" she asked with a small smile.

the city is at war bless the young and rich with designer drugs and designer friends Elaine decided that this time she was only going to buy one thing, the thing she came for, so that she wouldn't be burdened with too much. Because it was actually still fairly early in the day, and of course people would be suspicious if she came home too early. And going back to school was not an option, of course. She had already made up her mind to stay with this woman. Even if she was warned multiple times that strangers were bad.
She was happy that Sound Fuse was at least recognizable to Sera - there were so many ignorant people here that they didn't know one of the most popular bands ever. It didn't even matter if she liked it or not, at least she'd heard of it. That was enough for her (although she would prefer if she liked it, Elaine thought they were just wonderful). "Great! You don't know how many people I've encountered who've never heard of them! I mean, really now, they're so awesome! But, I'm sure you'll get to listen to them, for sure, else I'll open up the CD I'm buying and let you listen then~"
It was a good plan, at least it seemed like it to Elaine at this very moment. Despite the fact that she was in the state of intense fangirling (it wasn't like she could help it, now), Sound Fuse was indeed a good band, and she did want to get them more popular via new audiences. So was her logic, anyways. It was great of she could convert someone into being a fan, but even if she didn't, that was okay too!
"Yes, of course I'll lead the way!" Elaine had been to this shop several times before, so she had memorized the route ten times over. She'd probably be able to do it forwards, backwards, sideways, and blindfolded (though she wasn't very keen on trying). "Thanks, by the way. I appreciate it."
