Living Situation Kei works as an investigator with the Los Angeles Police Department and could probably be considered lower middle class. Her and her partner's primary goal is to investigate the strange occurrences all over the city. Needless to say, they have few leads and most lead to dead ends. Most of the time, she ends up guiding Kyoko everywhere due to the fact that she has no sense of direction. 02. Appearance Your character's physical description/notes. Not required. NOTE TO SELF: Add in later. Like when it's not the wee hours of the morning. 03. Personality PATIENT|| Keiko has been described as having the patience of a saint. Kyoko is a great partner but she can be absent minded at times. Keiko has somehow been able to take all this in stride and take care of her partner patiently without (much) complaint. DIRECTIVE|| Keiko is a natural born leader. She can plan reasonable directions and give orders like there is no tomorrow. Some might describe her as bossy but in reality she is only doing her job, Of course, her partner is usually the one that she ends up bossing around but she does not necessarily mean it in a mean way. She just needs everything done and can easily assume a leadership role so that there are no problems in the execution of a plan. ENCOURAGING|| There will always be times when people are down. Unfortunately, she and her partner seem to have more lows when it comes to their investigation than ups. There are times when she wonders why it is that they continue pursuing the assassin’s group when there are so few leads and so many other things they could be doing. But then she finds some sort of reason to motivate herself not to quit and she will use these reasons to motivate others as well. SECRETIVE|| Keiko can be rather secretive about her own life. She dislikes talking about her feelings but being on the force and seeing the gruesome things that can arise can do that to a person. Kyoko is probably the person closest to her and therefore knows the most about her life and all that. At the same time though, Kei still hides her feelings on certain things. It’s become a way to protect herself. There are just some things that her family does not need to know. PESSIMISTIC|| Working as a police officer can do that to you: a person can only take seeing so many tragedies before they decide that the world is completely against them. Keiko has reached that point and would rather be pleasantly surprised at something good happening than be disappointed at the failure. The fact that she relies on the worst happening probably also ties into why she needs the encouragement so much. She would not want to get taken off the field for being too depressed. RESPONSIBLE|| Let’s be honest here. If you have a partner like Kyoko, you had damn well better be responsible. Keiko takes care of things and makes sure that Kyoko can get to places on time and in an orderly fashion. She takes her job seriously and is thorough with her work. If something goes wrong, Keiko will willingly admit her mistake and take the fall for it. Keiko also makes sure that things are done on time and not lost. This is probably why she does much of the paper work. METICULOUS|| Careful following of procedure is an important part of being a police officer. There is strict procedure to be followed when arresting and interrogating someone. Then there is paper work. Then there is procedure for shooting a gun. Then there is paper work. Then there is paperwork and more paperwork. For that reason, Keiko makes sure that her desk area is neat and things are neatly filed away in the correct area. Mistakes must not be made. ALOOF|| She’s a tsundere. There is no way around it. Keiko can be harsh or cold to people but in reality she does care. She is just too embarrassed to show it. She does have her moments though those are usually in private. It takes time for her to open up but she really is a caring person once she does. 04. History Keiko is the only child of two “fresh off the boat”, Japanese immigrants. Funnily enough, it was actually on the plane to the United States that her parents met each other. Her mother, Tsubame, was flying to America from the rural areas of Japan to join her sister and find work. Her father, Izumi Takahashi was on his way to Los Angeles to study overseas. They were seated on the plane next to each other and hit it off. But when the flight landed, they expected to never see each other again and parted ways. Three weeks later, they found each other again. Tsubame knew little English and so was working on the janitorial staff as a maid of sorts on the UCLA campus. Meanwhile Izumi was doing his best to learn everything there was about the English language. They met again when Izumi slipped on the floor that Tsubame had just mopped. Meeting again twice was surely a sign. It was far from love at that point but they could not deny that they must have had some sort of connection. They became fast friends. Izumi helped Tsubame learn English while Tsubame did what she could for him whether it was cleaning his room or cooking for him once in a while. It was a slow romance and they eventually fell in love. Their families were pleased with the match: Izumi could provide and Tsubame was a good housewife. Together they were married in a small Japanese ceremony and soon had Keiko, their only child. Keiko was always an average child in most respects. Elementary school meant snacks and recess. Grades were something to be watched but not seriously considered. Then Keiko entered middle school and discovered that perhaps she was not that smart after all. She was not failing completely but she certainly was not the brightest bulb on the tree either. Where Keiko truly excelled was at sports. She was always the first one to volunteer in gym class and it was honestly the only class she got high averages in. In high school, her athleticism carried over. Puberty did not help of course. Mother Nature had blessed her with an enormous chest which gave her back problems although that did not stop her from joining the track and field team and the archery team. Keiko was a jock through and through. She got through high school with average grades and a multitude of trophies and awards for her outstanding athletic achievement. After high school, however, Keiko was lost. She had never thought of what she would do after school was over. She took a gap year but nothing came of it. She was lost in the world. One day a family member suggested that she put her strength and speed to work as part of the police force. Intrigued, Keiko decided to give it a chance. She enrolled in the police academy and passed, becoming one of the (wo)men in blue. The day she got stuck with the rookie as a partner, she wanted to protest for a multitude of reasons: was there some sort of prejudice out there? Why were the two Asian females put together as partners? However, as Keiko came to know the rookie known as Kyoko, Kei found that the girl despite her shortcomings was a great partner and friend. Together, they continued to work towards bringing Libertine to justice even if it might take a long time. |
